Daniel Stenberg c5be3d7267 cookies: getlist() now holds deep copies of all cookies
Previously it only held references to them, which was reckless as the
thread lock was released so the cookies could get modified by other

Sergei Kuzmin 54e48b14e1 cookies: same domain handling changed to match browser behavior
Cokie with the same domain but different tailmatching property are now
considered different and do not replace each other. If header contains
following lines then two cookies will be set: Set-Cookie: foo=bar;
domain=.foo.com; expires=Thu Mar 3 GMT 8:56:27 2033 Set-Cookie: foo=baz;
domain=foo.com; expires=Thu Mar 3 GMT 8:56:27 2033

This matches Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Firefox behavior. When sending
stored tokens to foo.com Chrome, Opera, Firefox store send them in the
stored order, while Safari pre-sort the cookies.

Daniel Stenberg 4f45240bc8 lib: include curl_printf.h as one of the last headers
curl_printf.h defines printf to curl_mprintf, etc. This can cause
problems with external headers which may use
__attribute__((format(printf, ...))) markers etc.

To avoid that they cause problems with system includes, we include
curl_printf.h after any system headers. That makes the three last
headers to always be, and we keep them in this order:

 curl_printf.h
 curl_memory.h
 memdebug.h

None of them include system headers, they all do funny #defines.

Daniel Stenberg 7f7fcd0d75 cookies: first n/v pair in Set-Cookie: is the cookie, then parameters
RFC 6265 section 4.1.1 spells out that the first name/value pair in the
header is the actual cookie name and content, while the following are
the parameters.

libcurl previously had a more liberal approach which causes significant
problems when introducing new cookie parameters, like the suggested new
cookie priority draft.

The previous logic read all n/v pairs from left-to-right and the first
name used that wassn't a known parameter name would be used as the
cookie name, thus accepting "Set-Cookie: Max-Age=2; person=daniel" to be
a cookie named 'person' while an RFC 6265 compliant parser should
consider that to be a cookie named 'Max-Age' with an (unknown) parameter
'person'.

Jay Satiro ef0fdb83b8 cookie: Fix bug in export if any-domain cookie is present
In 3013bb6 I had changed cookie export to ignore any-domain cookies,
however the logic I used to do so was incorrect, and would lead to a

- Change fopen calls to use FOPEN_READTEXT instead of "r" or "rt"
- Change fopen calls to use FOPEN_WRITETEXT instead of "w" or "wt"

This change is to explicitly specify when we need to read/write text.
Unfortunately 't' is not part of POSIX fopen so we can't specify it
directly. Instead we now have FOPEN_READTEXT, FOPEN_WRITETEXT.

Prior to this change we had an issue on Windows if an application that
uses libcurl overrides the default file mode to binary. The default file
mode in Windows is normally text mode (translation mode) and that's what
libcurl expects.

The internal libcurl function called sanitize_cookie_path() that cleans
up the path element as given to it from a remote site or when read from

consisted of a single double-quote, libcurl would index a newly
allocated memory area with index -1 and assign a zero to it, thus
destroying heap memory it wasn't supposed to.

Daniel Stenberg 0f4a03cbb6 free: instead of Curl_safefree()
Since we just started make use of free(NULL) in order to simplify code,
this change takes it a step further and:

- converts lots of Curl_safefree() calls to good old free()
- makes Curl_safefree() not check the pointer before free()

The (new) rule of thumb is: if you really want a function call that
frees a pointer and then assigns it to NULL, then use Curl_safefree().
But we will prefer just using free() from now on.

YAMADA Yasuharu 04f52e9b4d cookies: only consider full path matches
I found a bug which cURL sends cookies to the path not to aim at.
For example:

- server returns cookie which with path=/hoge;
the point is there is NOT the '/' end of path string.
- cURL sends a request to http://example.fake/hogege/ with the cookie.

The reason for this old "feature" is because that behavior is what is

Yang Tse 5a053ffe80 build: fix circular header inclusion with other packages
This commit renames lib/setup.h to lib/curl_setup.h and
renames lib/setup_once.h to lib/curl_setup_once.h.

Removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard foreign
to libcurl. [1]

Removes the need and presence of an alarming notice we carried
in old setup_once.h [2]

----------------------------------------

1 - lib/setup_once.h used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro as header inclusion guard
up to commit ec691ca3 which changed this to HEADER_CURL_SETUP_ONCE_H,
this single inclusion guard is enough to ensure that inclusion of
lib/setup_once.h done from lib/setup.h is only done once.

Additionally lib/setup.h has always used __SETUP_ONCE_H macro to
protect inclusion of setup_once.h even after commit ec691ca3, this
was to avoid a circular header inclusion triggered when building a
c-ares enabled version with c-ares sources available which also has
a setup_once.h header. Commit ec691ca3 exposes the real nature of
__SETUP_ONCE_H usage in lib/setup.h, it is a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl belonging to c-ares's setup_once.h

The renaming this commit does, fixes the circular header inclusion,
and as such removes the need and usage of a header inclusion guard
foreign to libcurl. Macro __SETUP_ONCE_H no longer used in libcurl.

2 - Due to the circular interdependency of old lib/setup_once.h and the
c-ares setup_once.h header, old file lib/setup_once.h has carried
back from 2006 up to now days an alarming and prominent notice about
the need of keeping libcurl's and c-ares's setup_once.h in sync.

Given that this commit fixes the circular interdependency, the need
and presence of mentioned notice is removed.

All mentioned interdependencies come back from now old days when
the c-ares project lived inside a curl subdirectory. This commit
removes last traces of such fact.

Daniel Stenberg 7c21c1c4f9 cookie parser: handle 'secure='
There are two keywords in cookie headers that don't follow the regular
name=value style: secure and httponly. Still we must support that they
are written like 'secure=' and then treat them as if they were written
'secure'. Test case 31 was much extended by Rob Ward to test this.

Daniel Stenberg 49465fffdb cookies: tricked dotcounter fixed
Providing multiple dots in a series in the domain field (domain=..com) could
trick the cookie engine to wrongly accept the cookie believing it to be
fine. Since the tailmatching would then match all .com sites, the cookie would
then be sent to all of them.

The code now requires at least one letter between each dot for them to be
counted. Edited test case 61 to verify this.

Daniel Stenberg 877dad1e24 - As was pointed out on the http-state mailing list, the order of cookies in a
HTTP Cookie: header _needs_ to be sorted on the path length in the cases
where two cookies using the same name are set more than once using
(overlapping) paths. Realizing this, identically named cookies must be
sorted correctly. But detecting only identically named cookies and take care
of them individually is harder than just to blindly and unconditionally sort
all cookies based on their path lengths. All major browsers also already do
this, so this makes our behavior one step closer to them in the cookie area.

Test case 8 was the only one that broke due to this change and I updated it
  accordingly.

such a cookie is questionable, they occur in the wild and libcurl no longer
leaks memory for them. I added such a header to test case 8.

Dan Fandrich bab5183820 Created Curl_raw_nequal() which does a C-locale string case comparison.
Changed checkprefix() to use it and those instances of strnequal() that
compare host names or other protocol strings that are defined to be
independent of case in the C locale. This should fix a few more
Turkish locale problems.

2008-10-16 08:23:48 +00:00
Daniel Stenberg a579d67064 - Pascal Terjan filed bug #2154627
(http://curl.haxx.se/bug/view.cgi?id=2154627) which pointed out that libcurl
uses strcasecmp() in multiple places where it causes failures when the
Turkish locale is used. This is because 'i' and 'I' isn't the same letter so
strcasecmp() on those letters are different in Turkish than in English (or
just about all other languages). I thus introduced a totally new internal
function in libcurl (called Curl_ascii_equal) for doing case insentive
comparisons for english-(ascii?) style strings that thus will make "file"
and "FILE" match even if the Turkish locale is selected.

Daniel Stenberg f72a26d340 - Stefan Krause pointed out that libcurl would wrongly send away cookies to
sites in cases where the cookie clearly has a very old expiry date. The
condition was simply that libcurl's date parser would fail to convert the
date and it would then count as a (timed-based) match. Starting now, a
missed date due to an unsupported date format or date range will now cause
  the cookie to not match.

Yang Tse ad638da2c2 Library internal only C preprocessor macros FORMAT_OFF_T and FORMAT_OFF_TU
remain in use as internal curl_off_t print formatting strings for the internal
*printf functions which still cannot handle print formatting string directives
such as "I64d", "I64u", and others available on MSVC, MinGW, Intel's ICC, and
other DOS/Windows compilers.

This reverts previous commit part which did:

FORMAT_OFF_T  -> CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_T
FORMAT_OFF_TU -> CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_TU
2008-08-16 01:33:59 +00:00
Yang Tse 66fb9ca5f6 For congruency sake with the naming of other CURL_XXXXXX_CURL_OFF_T macros,
the names of the curl_off_t formatting string directives now become
CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_T and CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_TU.

CURL_FMT_OFF_T  -> CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_T
CURL_FMT_OFF_TU -> CURL_FORMAT_CURL_OFF_TU

Remove the use of an internal name for the curl_off_t formatting string directives
and use the common one available from the inside and outside of the library.

Daniel Stenberg a676c18502 - Jeff Pohlmeyer found out that if you ask libcurl to load a cookiefile (with
CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE), add a cookie (with CURLOPT_COOKIELIST), tell it to
write the result to a given cookie jar and then never actually call
curl_easy_perform() - the given file(s) to read was never read but the
output file was written and thus it caused a "funny" result.

- While doing some tests for the bug above, I noticed that Firefox generates
large numbers (for the expire time) in the cookies.txt file and libcurl
didn't treat them properly. Now it does.

o Save domains in jars like Mozilla does. It means all domains set in

o Save and use the 'tailmatch' field in the Mozilla/Netscape cookie jars (the
    second column).
o Reject cookies using illegal domains in the Set-Cookie: line. Concerns
both domains with too few dots or domains that are outside the currently
    operating server host's domain.
o Set the path part by default to the one used in the request, if none was
    set in the Set-Cookie line.
