While I am not the original owner of the content, the content was originally a fork of the owner's repository. Per Github's terms of service, I should be allowed to keep up my repository which was a fork even though the original author (copyright holder) took down his repository

Per Github's terms of service:
"If you set your pages and repositories to be viewed publicly, you grant each User of GitHub a nonexclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and perform Your Content through the GitHub Service and to reproduce Your Content solely on GitHub as permitted through GitHub's functionality (for example, through forking)."
The original repository was public, and it made its way into my repository through forking
