### Licensing
The projfs kernel module must be GPLv2 licensed, both to link into the Linux
kernel and because we are using GPLv2-licensed code from ecryptfs, overlayfs,
and wrapfs.
The libprojfs library can be licensed under the Lesser GPL (LGPLv2), because
libfuse3 is distributed under that license and so we can reuse its code
(especially its communication channel framework) so long as we use the LGPLv2
as well.
The LGPLv2 explicitly allows linking of a library against non-copyleft code,
which is why it is often used for libraries like libfuse. This means we can
link our libprojfs against the MIT-licensed .NET VFSForGit codebase. (The
GPLv2 explicitly disallows this; GPLv2 code can use APIs from non-copyleft
code, but can not directly link against such code, either statically or
dynamically.)
