Currently the tpm spaces are not exposed to userspace. Make this
exposure via a separate device, which can now be opened multiple times
because each read/write transaction goes separately via the space.
Concurrency is protected by the chip->tpm_mutex for each read/write
transaction separately. The TPM is cleared of all transient objects
by the time the mutex is dropped, so there should be no interference
between the kernel and userspace.

Added an ability to virtualize TPM commands into an isolated context
that we call a TPM space because the word context is already heavily
used in the TPM specification. Both the handle areas and bodies (where
necessary) are virtualized.
The mechanism works by adding a new parameter struct tpm_space to the
tpm_transmit() function. This new structure contains the list of virtual
handles and a buffer of page size (currently) for backing storage.
When tpm_transmit() is called with a struct tpm_space instance it will
execute the following sequence:
1. Take locks.
2. Load transient objects from the backing storage by using ContextLoad
and map virtual handles to physical handles.
3. Perform the transaction.
4. Save transient objects to backing storage by using ContextSave and
map resulting physical handle to virtual handle if there is such.
This commit does not implement virtualization support for hmac and
policy sessions.

Check for every TPM 2.0 command that the command code is supported and
the command buffer has at least the length that can contain the header
and the handle area.
For ContextSave and FlushContext we mark the body to be part of the
handle area. This gives validation for these commands at zero
cost, including the body of the command.
The more important reason for this is that we can virtualize these
commands in the same way as you would virtualize the handle area of a
command.

Testing the implementation with a Raspberry Pi 2 showed that under some
circumstances its SPI master erroneously releases the CS line before the
transfer is complete, i.e. before the end of the last clock. In this case
the TPM ignores the transfer and misses for example the GO command. The
driver is unable to detect this communication problem and will wait for a
command response that is never going to arrive, timing out eventually.
As a workaround, the small delay ensures that the CS line is held long
enough, even with a faulty SPI master. Other SPI masters are not affected,
except for a negligible performance penalty.

Abort the transfer with ETIMEDOUT when the TPM signals more than
TPM_RETRY wait states. Continuing with the transfer in this state
will only lead to arbitrary failures in other parts of the code.

The algorithm for sending data to the TPM is mostly identical to the
algorithm for receiving data from the TPM, so a single function is
sufficient to handle both cases.
This is a prequisite for all the other fixes, so we don't have to fix
everything twice (send/receive)

This fix enables a platform to enter the idle state (suspend-to-idle)
The driver needs to request explicitly go_idle upon completion
from the pm suspend handler.
The runtime pm is disabled on suspend during prepare state by calling
pm_runtime_get_noresume, hence we cannot relay on runtime pm to leave
the device in low power state. Symmetrically cmdReady is called
upon resume.

Commit 500462a9de "timers: Switch to a non-cascading wheel" replaced
the 'classic' timer wheel, which aimed for near 'exact' expiry of the
timers. Their analysis was that the vast majority of timeout timers
are used as safeguards, not as real timers, and are cancelled or
rearmed before expiration. The only exception noted to this were
networking timers with a small expiry time.
Not included in the analysis was the TPM polling timer, which resulted
in a longer normal delay and, every so often, a very long delay. The
non-cascading wheel delay is based on CONFIG_HZ. For a description of
the different rings and their delays, refer to the comments in
kernel/time/timer.c.
Below are the delays given for rings 0 - 2, which explains the longer
"normal" delays and the very, long delays as seen on systems with
CONFIG_HZ 250.

The expectation is that the if the CRB cmd/rsp buffer falls within the
ACPI region that the entire buffer will be within the reason. Otherwise
resource reservation will fail when it crosses regions.
Work around this BIOS bug by limiting the cmd/rsp buffer to the length
of the declared ACPI region. BIOS vendors should fix this by making
the ACPI and register length declarations consistent.

TIS v1.3 for TPM 1.2 and PTP for TPM 2.0 disagree about which timeout
value applies to reading a valid burstcount. It is TIMEOUT_D according to
TIS, but TIMEOUT_A according to PTP, so choose the appropriate value
depending on whether we deal with a TPM 1.2 or a TPM 2.0.
This is important since according to the PTP TIMEOUT_D is much smaller
than TIMEOUT_A. So the previous implementation could run into timeouts
with a TPM 2.0, even though the TPM was behaving perfectly fine.
During tpm2_probe TIMEOUT_D will be used even with a TPM 2.0, because
TPM_CHIP_FLAG_TPM2 is not yet set. This is fine, since the timeout values
will only be changed afterwards by tpm_get_timeouts. Until then
TIS_TIMEOUT_D_MAX applies, which is large enough.

The TPM1.2 PCR Extend operation only returns 20 bytes in the body,
which is the size of the PCR state.
This fixes a problem where IMA gets errors with every PCR Extend.

Unlike the device driver support for TPM 1.2, the TPM 2.0 does
not support the securityfs pseudo files for displaying the
firmware event log.
This patch enables support for providing the TPM 2.0 event log in
binary form. TPM 2.0 event log supports a crypto agile format that
records multiple digests, which is different from TPM 1.2. This
patch enables the tpm_bios_log_setup for TPM 2.0 and adds the
event log parser which understand the TPM 2.0 crypto agile format.

Physical TPMs use Open Firmware Device Tree bindings that are similar
to the IBM Power virtual TPM to support event log. However, these
properties store the values in different endianness for Physical
and Virtual TPM.
This patch fixes the endianness issue by doing appropriate conversion
based on Physical or Virtual TPM.

The current TPM 2.0 device driver extends only the SHA1 PCR bank
but the TCG Specification[1] recommends extending all active PCR
banks, to prevent malicious users from setting unused PCR banks with
fake measurements and quoting them.
The existing in-kernel interface(tpm_pcr_extend()) expects only a
SHA1 digest. To extend all active PCR banks with differing
digest sizes, the SHA1 digest is padded with trailing 0's as needed.
This patch reuses the defined digest sizes from the crypto subsystem,
adding a dependency on CRYPTO_HASH_INFO module.

The error code handling is broken as any error code that has the same
bits set as TPM_RC_HASH passes. Implemented tpm2_rc_value() helper to
parse the error value from FMT0 and FMT1 error codes so that these types
of mistakes are prevented in the future.

probe_itpm() function is supposed to send command without an itpm flag set
and if this fails to repeat it, this time with the itpm flag set.
However, commit 41a5e1cf1f ("tpm/tpm_tis: Split tpm_tis driver into a
core and TCG TIS compliant phy") moved the itpm flag from an "itpm"
variable to a TPM_TIS_ITPM_POSSIBLE chip flag, so setting the
(now function-local) itpm variable no longer had any effect.
Finally, this function-local itpm variable was removed by
commit 56af322156 ("tpm/tpm_tis: remove unused itpm variable")
Tested only on non-iTPM TIS TPM.

For a long time the cdev read/write interface had this strange
idea that userspace had to read the result within 60 seconds otherwise
it is discarded. Perhaps this made sense under some older locking regime,
but in the modern kernel it is not required and is just dangerous.
Since something may be relying on this, double the timeout and print a
warning. We can remove the code in a few years, but this should be
enough to prevent new users.

Since commit 1107d065fd ("tpm_tis: Introduce intermediate layer for
TPM access") Atmel 3203 TPM on ThinkPad X61S (TPM firmware version 13.9)
no longer works. The initialization proceeds fine until we get and
start using chip-reported timeouts - and the chip reports C and D
timeouts of zero.
It turns out that until commit 8e54caf407 ("tpm: Provide a generic
means to override the chip returned timeouts") we had actually let
default timeout values remain in this case, so let's bring back this
behavior to make chips like Atmel 3203 work again.
Use a common code that was introduced by that commit so a warning is
printed in this case and /sys/class/tpm/tpm*/timeouts correctly says the
timeouts aren't chip-original.

The event log is an optional firmware feature, if the firmware
does not support it then the securityfs files should not be created
and no other notification given.
- Uniformly return -ENODEV from the tpm_bios_log_setup cone if
no event log is detected.
- Check in ACPI if this node was discovered via ACPI.
- Improve the check in OF to make sure there is a parent and to
fail detection if the two log properties are not declared
- Pass through all other error codes instead of filtering just some

Check the bios_dir entry for NULL before accessing it. Currently

device_node np contains a garbage value from the stack and it
is only set if chip->dev.parent->of_node is not null. Thus the
check for a null np won't spot a garbage value of np from the
stack if chip->dev.parent->of_node is null and if np contains
an garbage non-null value.
I believe the correct fix is to return -ENODEV if and only if
chip->dev.parent->of_node is null.

Currently, read_log() has two implementations: one for ACPI platforms
and the other for device tree(OF) based platforms. The proper one is
selected at compile time using Kconfig and #ifdef in the Makefile,
which is not the recommended approach.
This patch removes the #ifdef in the Makefile by defining a single
read_log() method, which checks for ACPI/OF event log properties at
runtime.

Move the backing memory for the event log into tpm_chip and push
the tpm_chip into read_log. This optimizes read_log processing by
only doing it once and prepares things for the next patches in the
series which require the tpm_chip to locate the event log via
ACPI and OF handles instead of searching.
This is straightfoward except for the issue of passing a kref through
i_private with securityfs. Since securityfs_remove does not have any
removal fencing like sysfs we use the inode lock to safely get a
kref on the tpm_chip.

Check for TPM2 chip in tpm_sysfs_add_device, tpm_bios_log_setup and
tpm_bios_log_teardown in order to make code flow cleaner and to enable
to implement TPM 2.0 support later on. This is partially derived from
the commit by Nayna Jain with the extension that also tpm1_chip_register
is dropped.

The tis driver does a tpm_get_timeouts out side of tpm_chip_register,
and tpm_get_timeouts can print a message, resulting in two prints, eg:
tpm tpm0: [Hardware Error]: Adjusting reported timeouts: A 10000->750000us B 10000->2000000us C 10000->750000us D 10000->750000us
Keep track and prevent tpm_get_timeouts from running a second time, and
clarify the purpose of the call in tpm_tis_core to only be connected to

If the TPM we're connecting to uses a static burst count, it will report
a burst count of zero throughout the response read. However, get_burstcount
assumes that a response of zero indicates that the TPM is not ready to
receive more data. In this case, it returns a negative error code, which
is passed on to tpm_tis_{write,read}_bytes as a u16, causing
them to read/write far too many bytes.
This patch checks for negative return codes and bails out from recv_data
and tpm_tis_send_data.

In some weird cases it might be possible that the TPM does not set
STS.VALID within the given timeout time (or ever) but sets STS.EXPECT
(STS=0x0C) In this case the driver gets stuck in the while loop of
tpm_tis_send_data and loops endlessly.
Checking the return value of wait_for_tpm_stat fixes this and the driver
bails out correctly. While at it fixing all other users since if the
TPM does not manage to set STS.VALID within the reasonable timeframe
something is definitely wrong and the driver should react correctly.

Utilize runtime_pm for driving tpm crb idle states.
The framework calls cmd_ready from the pm_runtime_resume handler
and go idle from the pm_runtime_suspend handler.
The TPM framework should wake the device before transmit and receive.
In case the runtime_pm framework is not compiled in or enabled, the device
will be in the permanent ready state.

There is a HW bug in Skylake, and Broxton PCH Intel PTT device, where
most of the registers in the control area except START, REQUEST, CANCEL,
and LOC_CTRL lost retention when the device is in the idle state. Hence
we need to bring the device to ready state before accessing the other
registers. The fix brings device to ready state before trying to read
command and response buffer addresses in order to remap the for access.

The register TPM_CRB_CTRL_REQ_x contains bits goIdle and cmdReady for
SW to indicate that the device can enter or should exit the idle state.
The legacy ACPI-start (SMI + DMA) based devices do not support these
bits and the idle state management is not exposed to the host SW.
Thus, this functionality only is enabled only for a CRB start (MMIO)
based devices.

Use xenbus_read_unsigned() instead of xenbus_scanf() when possible.
This requires to change the type of one read from int to unsigned,
but this case has been wrong before: negative values are not allowed
for the modified case.

Utilize runtime_pm for driving tpm crb idle states.
The framework calls cmd_ready from the pm_runtime_resume handler
and go idle from the pm_runtime_suspend handler.
The TPM framework should wake the device before transmit and receive.
In case the runtime_pm framework is not enabled, the device will be in
ready state.

There is a HW bug in Skylake, and Broxton PCH Intel PTT device, where
most of the registers in the control area except START, REQUEST, CANCEL,
and LOC_CTRL lost retention when the device is in the idle state. Hence
we need to bring the device to ready state before accessing the other
registers. The fix brings device to ready state before trying to read
command and response buffer addresses in order to remap the for access.

The register TPM_CRB_CTRL_REQ_x contains bits goIdle and cmdReady for
SW to indicate that the device can enter or should exit the idle state.
The legacy ACPI-start (SMI + DMA) based devices do not support these
bits and the idle state management is not exposed to the host SW.
Thus, this functionality only is enabled only for a CRB start (MMIO)
based devices.

tpm_transmit() does not check that bufsiz is at least TPM_HEADER_SIZE
before accessing data. This commit adds this check and returns -EINVAL
if it fails.

The req_canceled() callback is used by tpm_transmit() periodically to
check whether the request has been canceled while it is receiving a
response from the TPM.
The TPM_CRB_CTRL_CANCEL register was cleared already in the crb_cancel
callback, which has two consequences:
* Cancel might not happen.
* req_canceled() always returns zero.
A better place to clear the register is when starting to send a new
command. The behavior of TPM_CRB_CTRL_CANCEL is described in the
section 5.5.3.6 of the PTP specification.

Since tpm_gen_interrupt() is only used in tpm_tis_core.c this commit
replaces it with an internal tpm_tis_gen_interrupt(). The semantics
also changed in a way that on a system error the driver initialization
is failed.

This function should only be called as part of an IRQ probing protocol
and st33 does not have any code to detect that the IRQ it tries to
generate was not generated and disable the IRQ.
Since st33 is primarily a DT binding driver it should not be doing
IRQ probing anyhow, so let us just delete this useless call.

commit introduces unlocked tpm_transmit() so that tpm2_unseal_trusted()

The TCG standard startup sequence (get timeouts, tpm startup, etc) for
TPM and TPM2 chips is being open coded in many drivers, move it into
the core code.
tpm_tis and tpm_crb are used as the basis for the core code
implementation and the easy drivers are converted. In the process
several small drivers bugs relating to error handling this flow
are fixed.
For now the flag TPM_OPS_AUTO_STARTUP is optional to allow a staged
driver roll out, but ultimately all drivers should use this flow and
the flag removed. Some drivers still do not implement the startup
sequence at all and will need to be tested with it enabled.

If devm_add_action() fails we are explicitly calling put_device() to
free the resources allocated. Lets use the helper
devm_add_action_or_reset() and return directly in case of error, as we
know that the cleanup function has been already called by the helper if
there was any error.

Some chips incorrectly support partial reads from TPM_STS register
at non-zero offsets. Read the entire 32-bits register instead of
making two 8-bit reads to support such devices and reduce the number
of bus transactions when obtaining the burstcount from TPM_STS.

vendors.
It supports SPI Bit Protocol as describe in the TCG PTP
specification (chapter 6.4.6 SPI Bit Protocol).
Irq mode is not supported.

To avoid code duplication between the old tpm_tis and the new and future
native tcg tis driver(ie: spi, i2c...), the tpm_tis driver was reworked,
so that all common logic is extracted and can be reused from all drivers.
The core methods can also be used from other TIS like drivers.
itpm workaround is now managed with a specific tis flag
TPM_TIS_ITPM_POSSIBLE.

This splits tpm_tis in a high-level protocol part and a low-level interface
for the actual TPM communication. The low-level interface can then be
implemented by additional drivers to provide access to TPMs using other
mechanisms, for example native I2C or SPI transfers, while still reusing
the same TIS protocol implementation.
Though the ioread/iowrite calls cannot fail, other implementations of this
interface might want to return error codes if their communication fails.
This follows the usual pattern of negative values representing errors and
zero representing success. Positive values are not used (yet).
Errors are passed back to the caller if possible. If the interface of a
function does not allow that, it tries to do the most sensible thing it
can, but this might also mean ignoring the error in this instance.

Split priv_data structure in common and phy specific structures. This will
allow in future patches to reuse the same tis logic on top of new phy such
as spi and i2c. Ultimately, other drivers may reuse this tis logic.

This patch implements a proxy driver for supporting multiple emulated TPMs
in a system.
The driver implements a device /dev/vtpmx that is used to created
a client device pair /dev/tpmX (e.g., /dev/tpm10) and a server side that
is accessed using a file descriptor returned by an ioctl.
The device /dev/tpmX is the usual TPM device created by the core TPM
driver. Applications or kernel subsystems can send TPM commands to it
and the corresponding server-side file descriptor receives these
commands and delivers them to an emulated TPM.
The driver retrievs the TPM 1.2 durations and timeouts. Since this requires
the startup of the TPM, we send a startup for TPM 1.2 as well as TPM 2.

The final thing preventing this was the way the sysfs files were
attached to the pdev. Follow the approach developed for ppi and move
the sysfs files to the chip->dev with symlinks from the pdev
for compatibility. Everything in the core now sanely uses container_of
to get the chip.

Dropped the field 'irq' from struct tpm_vendor_specific and make it
available to the various private structures in the drivers using irqs.
A dedicated flag TPM_CHIP_FLAG_IRQ is added for the upper layers.
In st33zp24, struct st33zp24_dev declaration is moved to st33zp24.h in
order to make accessible irq from other phy's(i2c, spi).
In tpm_i2c_nuvoton, chip->vendor.priv is not directly allocated. We can
access irq field from priv_data in a cleaner way.

Drop field int_queue from tpm_vendor_specific as it is used only by
tpm_tis. Probably all of the fields should be eventually dropped and
moved to the private structures of different drivers but it is better to
do this one step at a time in order not to break anything.

On my Lenovo x250 the following situation occurs:
[18697.813871] tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource
[mem 0xacdff080-0xacdfffff]
The mapping of the control area overlaps the mapping of the command
buffer. The control area is mapped over page, which is not right. It
should mapped over sizeof(struct crb_control_area).
Fixing this issue unmasks another issue. Command and response buffers
can overlap and they do interleave on this machine. According to the PTP
specification the overlapping means that they are mapped to the same
buffer.
The commit has been also on a Haswell NUC where things worked before
applying this fix so that the both code paths for response buffer
initialization are tested.

When st33zp24_spi_acpi_request_resources() gets called we
already know that the entries in ->acpi_match_table have matched ACPI ID
of the device.
In addition spi_device pointer cannot be NULL in any case (otherwise I2C
core would not call ->probe() for the driver in the first place).
Drop the two useless checks from the driver.

rmmod crashes the driver because tpm_chip_unregister() already sets ops
to NULL. This commit fixes the issue by moving tpm2_shutdown() to
tpm_chip_unregister(). This commit is also cleanup because it removes
duplicate code from tpm_crb and tpm_tis to the core.

function, but not that of the stub that is used when the TPM is disabled,

Replace the device number bitmap with IDR. Extend the number of devices we
can create to 64k.
Since an IDR allows us to associate a pointer with an ID, we use this now
to rewrite tpm_chip_find_get() to simply look up the chip pointer by the
given device ID.
Protect the IDR calls with a mutex.

Now that the tpm core has strong locking around 'ops' it is possible
to remove a TPM driver, module and all, even while user space still
has things like /dev/tpmX open. For consistency and simplicity, drop
the module locking entirely.

Add a read/write semaphore around the ops function pointers so
ops can be set to null when the driver un-registers.
Previously the tpm core expected module locking to be enough to
ensure that tpm_unregister could not be called during certain times,
however that hasn't been sufficient for a long time.
Introduce a read/write semaphore around 'ops' so the core can set
it to null when unregistering. This provides a strong fence around
the driver callbacks, guaranteeing to the driver that no callbacks
are running or will run again.
For now the ops_lock is placed very high in the call stack, it could
be pushed down and made more granular in future if necessary.

This is a hold over from before the struct device conversion.
- All prints should be using &chip->dev, which is the Linux
standard. This changes prints to use tpm0 as the device name,
not the PnP/etc ID.
- The few places involving sysfs/modules that really do need the
parent just use chip->dev.parent instead
- We no longer need to get_device(pdev) in any places since it is no
longer used by any of the code. The kref on the parent is held
by the device core during device_add and dropped in device_del

The core st33zp24 module is useless without either the I2C or the
SPI access module. So hide NFC_ST_NCI and select it automatically
if either TCG_TIS_ST33ZP24_I2C or TCG_TIS_ST33ZP24_SPI is selected.
This avoids presenting TCG_TIS_ST33ZP24 when neither TCG_TIS_ST33ZP24_I2C
nor TCG_TIS_ST33ZP24_SPI can be selected.

In all cases use dev_name() for the mapped resources. This is both

The commit 0cc698af36 ("vTPM: support little endian guests") copied
the event, but without the event data, did an endian conversion on the
size and tried to output the event data from the copied version, which
has only have one byte of the data, resulting in garbage event data.

To support the force mode in tpm_tis we need to use resource locking
in tpm_crb as well, via devm_ioremap_resource.
The light restructuring better aligns crb and tis and makes it easier
to see the that new changes make sense.
The control area and its associated buffers do not always fall in the
range of the iomem resource given by the ACPI object. This patch fixes
the issue by mapping the buffers if this is the case.

ioread32 and readl are defined to read from PCI style memory, ie little
endian and return the result in host order. On platforms where a
swap is required ioread32/readl do the swap internally (eg see ppc).

The TPM core has long assumed that every device has a driver attached,
however the force path was attaching the TPM core outside of a driver
context. This isn't generally reliable as the user could detatch the
driver using sysfs or something, but commit b8b2c7d845 ("base/platform:
assert that dev_pm_domain callbacks are called unconditionally")
forced the issue by leaving the driver pointer NULL if there is
no probe.
Rework the TPM setup to create a platform device with resources and
then allow the driver core to naturally bind and probe it through the
normal mechanisms. All this structure is needed anyhow to enable TPM
for OF environments.
Finally, since the entire flow is changing convert the init/exit to use
the modern ifdef-less coding style when possible

This does a request_resource under the covers which means tis holds a
lock on the memory range it is using so other drivers cannot grab it.
When doing probing it is important to ensure that other drivers are
not using the same range before tis starts touching it.
To do this flow the actual struct resource from the device right
through to devm_ioremap_resource. This ensures all the proper resource
meta-data is carried down.

If the ACPI tables do not declare a memory resource for the TPM2
then do not just fall back to the x86 default base address.
Also be stricter when checking the ancillary TPM2 ACPI data and error
out if any of this data is wrong rather than blindly assuming TPM1.

Instead of clearing the global interrupts flag when any device
does not have an interrupt just pass -1 through tpm_info.irq.
The only thing that asks for autoprobing is the force=1 path.

include/acpi/actbl2.h is the proper place for these definitions
and the needed TPM2 ones have been there since
commit 413d4a6def ("ACPICA: Update TPM2 ACPI table")
This also drops a couple of le32_to_cpu's for members of this table,
the existing swapping was not done consistently, and the standard
used by other Linux callers of acpi_get_table is unswapped.

In my original patch sealing with policy was done with dynamically
allocated buffer that I changed later into an array so the checks in
tpm2-cmd.c became invalid. This patch fixes the issue.

TPM2 supports authorization policies, which are essentially
combinational logic statements repsenting the conditions where the data
can be unsealed based on the TPM state. This patch enables to use
authorization policies to seal trusted keys.
Two following new options have been added for trusted keys:
* 'policydigest=': provide an auth policy digest for sealing.
* 'policyhandle=': provide a policy session handle for unsealing.
If 'hash=' option is supplied after 'policydigest=' option, this
will result an error because the state of the option would become
mixed.

When the TPM response reception is interrupted in the wait_event_interruptable
call, the TPM is still busy processing the command and will only deliver the
response later. So we have to wait for an outstanding response before sending
a new request to avoid trying to put a 2nd request into the CRQ. Also reset
the res_len before sending a command so we will end up in that
wait_event_interruptable() waiting for the response rather than reading the
command packet as a response.
The easiest way to trigger the problem is to run the following
cd /sys/device/vio/71000004
while :; cat pcrs >/dev/null; done
And press Ctrl-C. This will then display an error
tpm_ibmvtpm 71000004: tpm_transmit: tpm_recv: error -4
followed by several other errors once interaction with the TPM resumes.
tpm_ibmvtpm 71000004: A TPM error (101) occurred attempting to determine the number of PCRS.

Now that the probe and run cases are merged together we can use a
much simpler setup flow where probe and normal setup are done with
exactly the same code.
Since the new flow always calls tpm_gen_interrupt to confirm the IRQ
there is also no longer any need to call tpm_get_timeouts twice.

IRQ probing needs to know that the TPM is working before trying to
probe, so move tpm_get_timeouts() to the top of the tpm_tis_init().
This has the advantage of also getting the correct timeouts loaded
before doing IRQ probing.
All the timeout handling code is moved to tpm_get_timeouts() in order to
remove duplicate code in tpm_tis and tpm_crb.

This should be done very early, before anything could possibly
cause the TPM to generate an interrupt. If the IRQ line is shared
with another driver causing an interrupt before setting up our
handler will be very bad.

__compat_only_sysfs_link_entry_to_kobj() was unconditionally called for
TPM1 chips, which caused crash on Acer C720 laptop where DSM for the
ACPI object did not exist.
There are two reasons for unwanted behavior:
* The code did not check whether
__compat_only_sysfs_link_entry_to_kobj() returned -ENOENT. This is
OK. It just meanst that ppi is not available.
* The code did not clean up properly. Compat link should added only
after all other init is done.
This patch sorts out these issues.

If the probing finishes without success, it will leave the value 15 in
the TPM_IRQ_VECTOR register. If the driver is unloaded and reloaded, it
will "think" that the hardware had been programmed with IRQ 15, and will
not probe again.
This patch restores the original value in the IO memory if no IRQ is
probed.

The base pointer for the event log is allocated in the local
kernel (in prom_instantiate_sml()), therefore it is already in
the host's endian byte order and requires no conversion.
The content of the 'basep' pointer in read_log() stores the
base address of the log. This patch ensures that it is correctly
implemented.

This patch introduces struct tpm_buf that provides a string buffer for
constructing TPM commands. This allows to construct variable sized TPM
commands. For the buffer a page is allocated and mapped, which limits
maximum size to PAGE_SIZE.
Variable sized TPM commands are needed in order to add algorithmic
agility.

Moved PPI attributes to the character device directory. This aligns with
the sysfs guidelines and makes them race free because they are created
atomically with the character device as part of device_register().The
character device and the sysfs attributes appear at the same time to the
user space.
As part of this change we enable PPI attributes also for TPM 2.0
devices. In order to retain backwards compatibility with TPM 1.x
devices, a symlink is created to the platform device directory.

Both for FIFO and CRB interface TCG has decided to use the same HID
MSFT0101. They can be differentiated by looking at the start method from
TPM2 ACPI table. This patches makes necessary fixes to tpm_tis and
tpm_crb modules in order to correctly detect, which module should be
used.
For MSFT0101 we must use struct acpi_driver because struct pnp_driver
has a 7 character limitation.
It turned out that the root cause in b371616b8 was not correct for
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98181.

The command buffer address must be read with exactly two 32-bit reads.
Otherwise, on some HW platforms, it seems that HW will abort the read
operation, which causes CPU to fill the read bytes with 1's. Therefore,
we cannot rely on memcpy_fromio() but must call ioread32() two times
instead.
Also, this matches the PC Client Platform TPM Profile specification,
which defines command buffer address with two 32-bit fields.

At ibm vtpm initialzation, tpm_ibmvtpm_probe() registers its interrupt
handler, ibmvtpm_interrupt, which calls ibmvtpm_crq_process to allocate
memory for rtce buffer. The current code uses 'GFP_KERNEL' as the
type of kernel memory allocation, which resulted a warning at
kernel/lockdep.c. This patch uses 'GFP_ATOMIC' instead so that the
allocation is high-priority and does not sleep.

The GPIO subsystem provides dummy GPIO consumer functions if GPIOLIB is
not enabled. Hence drivers that depend on GPIOLIB, but use GPIO consumer
functionality only, can still be compiled if GPIOLIB is not enabled.
Relax the dependency on GPIOLIB if COMPILE_TEST is enabled, where
appropriate.

At least some versions of AMI BIOS have corrupted contents in the TPM2
ACPI table and namely the physical address of the control area is set to
zero.
This patch changes the driver to fail gracefully when we observe a zero
address instead of continuing to ioremap.

When a cdev is contained in a dynamic structure the cdev parent kobj
should be set to the kobj that controls the lifetime of the enclosing
structure. In TPM's case this is the embedded struct device.
Also, cdev_init 0's the whole structure, so all sets must be after,
not before. This fixes module ref counting and cdev.

le64_to_cpu() was applied twice to the physical addresses read from the
control area. This hasn't shown any visible regressions because CRB
driver has been tested only on the little endian platofrms so far.

tpm_ibmvtpm_probe() calls ibmvtpm_reset_crq(ibmvtpm) without having yet
set the virtual device in the ibmvtpm structure. So in ibmvtpm_reset_crq,
the phype call contains empty unit addresses, ibmvtpm->vdev->unit_address.

Originally Xen PV drivers only use single-page ring to pass along
information. This might limit the throughput between frontend and
backend.
The patch extends Xenbus driver to support multi-page ring, which in
general should improve throughput if ring is the bottleneck. Changes to
various frontend / backend to adapt to the new interface are also
included.

In case the driver is configured to use irq, we are not waiting the answer
for a duration period to see the DATA_AVAIL status bit to raise but at
maximum timeout_c. This may result in critical failure as we will
not wait long enough for the command completion.

Make the tpm_infineon driver define its PM callbacks through
a struct dev_pm_ops object rather than by using legacy PM hooks
in struct pnp_driver.
This allows the driver to use tpm_pm_suspend() as its suspend
callback directly, so we can remove the duplicated savestate code.

includes the FIFO interface for TPM2.0 as well.
The FIFO interface is handled by tpm_tis since FIFO=TIS (more or less).

st33zp24 TIS 1.2 support also SPI. It is using a proprietary protocol to
transport TIS data.

tpm_i2c_stm_st33 is a TIS 1.2 TPM with a core interface which can be used
by different phy such as i2c or spi. The core part is called st33zp24 which
is also the main part reference.
include/linux/platform_data/tpm_stm_st33.h is renamed consequently.
The driver is also split into an i2c phy in charge of sending/receiving
data as well as managing platform data or dts configuration.

I started to work with PPI interface so that it would be available
under character device sysfs directory and realized that chip
registeration was still too messy.
In TPM 1.x in some rare scenarios (errors that almost never occur)
wrong order in deinitialization steps was taken in teardown. I
reproduced these scenarios by manually inserting error codes in the
place of the corresponding function calls.
The key problem is that the teardown is messy with two separate code
paths (this was inherited when moving code from tpm-interface.c).
Moved TPM 1.x specific register/unregister functionality to own helper
functions and added single code path for teardown in tpm_chip_register().
Now the code paths have been fixed and it should be easier to review
later on this part of the code.

kernel hangs during bootup on LE OS.
Why?: IMA calls tpm_pcr_read() which results in tpm_ibmvtpm_send
and tpm_ibmtpm_recv getting called. A trace showed that
tpm_ibmtpm_recv was hanging.
Resolution: tpm_ibmtpm_recv was hanging because tpm_ibmvtpm_send
was sending CRQ message that probably did not make much sense
to phype because of Endianness. The fix below sends correctly
converted CRQ for LE. This was not caught before because it
seems IMA is not enabled by default in kernel config and
IMA exercises this particular code path in vtpm.
Tested with IMA and VTPM enabled in kernel config and VTPM
enabled on both a BE OS and a LE OS ppc64 lpar. This exercised
CRQ and TPM command code paths in vtpm.
Patch is against Peter's tpmdd tree on github which included
Vicky's previous vtpm le patches.

The tpm_ibmvtpm module is affected by an unaligned access problem.
ibmvtpm_crq_get_version failed with rc=-4 during boot when vTPM is
enabled in Power partition, which supports both little endian and
big endian modes.
We added little endian support to fix this problem:
1) added cpu_to_be64 calls to ensure BE data is sent from an LE OS.
2) added be16_to_cpu and be32_to_cpu calls to make sure data received
is in LE format on a LE OS.

If during transmission system error was returned, the logic was to
incorrectly deduce that chip is a TPM 1.x chip. This patch fixes this
issue. Also, this patch changes probing so that message tag is used as the
measure for TPM 2.x, which should be much more stable. A separate function
called tpm2_probe() is encapsulated because it can be used with any
chipset.

Fixed suspend/resume paths for TPM 2.0 and consolidated all the
associated code to the tpm_pm_suspend() and tpm_pm_resume()
functions. Resume path should be handled by the firmware, i.e.
Startup(CLEAR) for hibernate and Startup(STATE) for suspend.
There might be some non-PC embedded devices in the future where
Startup() is not the handled by the FW but fixing the code for
those IMHO should be postponed until there is hardware available
to test the fixes although extra Startup in the driver code is
essentially a NOP.
Added Shutdown(CLEAR) to the remove paths of TIS and CRB drivers.
Changed tpm2_shutdown() to a void function because there isn't
much you can do except print an error message if this fails with
a system error.
