Oleg Nesterov 8a8de66c4f uprobes: Introduce arch_uprobe->ixol
Currently xol_get_insn_slot() assumes that we should simply copy
arch_uprobe->insn[] which is (ignoring arch_uprobe_analyze_insn)
just the copy of the original insn.

This is not true for arm which needs to create another insn to
execute it out-of-line.

So this patch simply adds the new member, ->ixol into the union.
This doesn't make any difference for x86 and powerpc, but arm
can divorce insn/ixol and initialize the correct xol insn in
arch_uprobe_analyze_insn().

Bharat Bhushan 40fde70d0d kvm: ppc: booke: check range page invalidation progress on page setup
When the MM code is invalidating a range of pages, it calls the KVM
kvm_mmu_notifier_invalidate_range_start() notifier function, which calls
kvm_unmap_hva_range(), which arranges to flush all the TLBs for guest pages.
However, the Linux PTEs for the range being flushed are still valid at
that point. We are not supposed to establish any new references to pages
in the range until the ...range_end() notifier gets called.
The PPC-specific KVM code doesn't get any explicit notification of that;
instead, we are supposed to use mmu_notifier_retry() to test whether we
are or have been inside a range flush notifier pair while we have been
referencing a page.

This patch calls the mmu_notifier_retry() while mapping the guest
page to ensure we are not referencing a page when in range invalidation.

This call is inside a region locked with kvm->mmu_lock, which is the
same lock that is called by the KVM MMU notifier functions, thus
ensuring that no new notification can proceed while we are in the
locked region.

This fixes a typo in the code that saves the guest DSCR (Data Stream

effect of the typo was that the DSCR value was saved in the wrong place,

and entry, and some host kernel memory got corrupted.

Benjamin Herrenschmidt 8b5ede69d2 powerpc/irq: Don't switch to irq stack from softirq stack
irq_exit() is now called on the irq stack, which can trigger a switch to
the softirq stack from the irq stack. If an interrupt happens at that
point, we will not properly detect the re-entrancy and clobber the
original return context on the irq stack.

This fixes it. The side effect is to prevent all nesting from softirq
stack to irq stack even in the "safe" case but it's simpler that way and
matches what x86_64 does.

Michael Neuling e9bdc3d614 powerpc/tm: Switch out userspace PPR and DSCR sooner
When we do a treclaim or trecheckpoint we end up running with userspace
PPR and DSCR values. Currently we don't do anything special to avoid
running with user values which could cause a severe performance
degradation.

This patch moves the PPR and DSCR save and restore around treclaim and
trecheckpoint so that we run with user values for a much shorter period.
More care is taken with the PPR as it's impact is greater than the DSCR.

This is similar to user exceptions, where we run HTM_MEDIUM early to
ensure that we don't run with a userspace PPR values in the kernel.

Michael Ellerman a53b27b3ab powerpc/perf: Fix handling of FAB events
Commit 4df4899 "Add power8 EBB support" included a bug in the handling
of the FAB_CRESP_MATCH and FAB_TYPE_MATCH fields.

These values are pulled out of the event code using EVENT_THR_CTL_SHIFT,
however we were then or'ing that value directly into MMCR1.

This meant we were failing to set the FAB fields correctly, and also
potentially corrupting the value for PMC4SEL. Leading to no counts for
the FAB events and incorrect counts for PMC4.

The fix is simply to shift left the FAB value correctly before or'ing it
with MMCR1.

Nishanth Aravamudan 1cf389df09 powerpc/iommu: Use GFP_KERNEL instead of GFP_ATOMIC in iommu_init_table()
Under heavy (DLPAR?) stress, we tripped this panic() in
arch/powerpc/kernel/iommu.c::iommu_init_table():

	page = alloc_pages_node(nid, GFP_ATOMIC, get_order(sz));
	if (!page)
		panic("iommu_init_table: Can't allocate %ld bytes\n", sz);

Before the panic() we got a page allocation failure for an order-2
allocation. There appears to be memory free, but perhaps not in the
ATOMIC context. I looked through all the call-sites of
iommu_init_table() and didn't see any obvious reason to need an ATOMIC
allocation. Most call-sites in fact have an explicit GFP_KERNEL
allocation shortly before the call to iommu_init_table(), indicating we
are not in an atomic context. There is some indirection for some paths,
but I didn't see any locks indicating that GFP_KERNEL is inappropriate.

With this change under the same conditions, we have not been able to
reproduce the panic.

Paul E. McKenney 8f21bd0090 powerpc: Restore registers on error exit from csum_partial_copy_generic()
The csum_partial_copy_generic() function saves the PowerPC non-volatile

Unfortunately, it fails to restore them upon error exit from this loop,
which results in silent corruption of these registers in the presumably
rare event of an access exception within that loop.

This commit therefore restores these register on error exit from the loop.

The csum_partial_copy_generic() uses register r7 to adjust the remaining
bytes to process. Unfortunately, r7 also holds a parameter, namely the
address of the flag to set in case of access exceptions while reading
the source buffer. Lacking a quantum implementation of PowerPC, this
commit instead uses register r9 to do the adjusting, leaving r7's
pointer uncorrupted.

Nathan Fontenot f7e3334a6b powerpc: Fix memory hotplug with sparse vmemmap
Previous commit 46723bfa540... introduced a new config option
HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE that ended up breaking memory hot-remove for ppc
when sparse vmemmap is not defined.

This patch defines HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE for ppc and adds the call to
register_page_bootmem_info_node. Without this we get a BUG_ON for memory
hot remove in put_page_bootmem().

This also adds a stub for register_page_bootmem_memmap to allow ppc to build
with sparse vmemmap defined. Leaving this as a stub is fine since the same
vmemmap addresses are also handled in vmemmap_populate and as such are
properly mapped.

Benjamin Herrenschmidt cbc9565ee8 powerpc: Remove ksp_limit on ppc64
We've been keeping that field in thread_struct for a while, it contains
the "limit" of the current stack pointer and is meant to be used for
detecting stack overflows.

It has a few problems however:

 - First, it was never actually *used* on 64-bit. Set and updated but
not actually exploited

 - When switching stack to/from irq and softirq stacks, it's update
is racy unless we hard disable interrupts, which is costly. This
is fine on 32-bit as we don't soft-disable there but not on 64-bit.

Thus rather than fixing 2 in order to implement 1 in some hypothetical
future, let's remove the code completely from 64-bit. In order to avoid
a clutter of ifdef's, we remove the updates from C code completely
during interrupt stack switching, and instead maintain it from the
asm helper that is used to do the stack switching in the first place.

Benjamin Herrenschmidt 0366a1c70b powerpc/irq: Run softirqs off the top of the irq stack
Nowadays, irq_exit() calls __do_softirq() pretty much directly
instead of calling do_softirq() which switches to the decicated
softirq stack.

This has lead to observed stack overflows on powerpc since we call
irq_enter() and irq_exit() outside of the scope that switches to
the irq stack.

This fixes it by moving the stack switching up a level, making
irq_enter() and irq_exit() run off the irq stack.

Johannes Weiner 759496ba64 arch: mm: pass userspace fault flag to generic fault handler
Unlike global OOM handling, memory cgroup code will invoke the OOM killer
in any OOM situation because it has no way of telling faults occuring in

user-triggered faults.

Pass a flag that identifies faults originating in user space from the
architecture-specific fault handlers to generic code so that memcg OOM

Naoya Horiguchi 83467efbdb mm: migrate: check movability of hugepage in unmap_and_move_huge_page()
Currently hugepage migration works well only for pmd-based hugepages
(mainly due to lack of testing,) so we had better not enable migration of
other levels of hugepages until we are ready for it.

Some users of hugepage migration (mbind, move_pages, and migrate_pages) do
page table walk and check pud/pmd_huge() there, so they are safe. But the
other users (softoffline and memory hotremove) don't do this, so without
this patch they can try to migrate unexpected types of hugepages.

To prevent this, we introduce hugepage_migration_support() as an
architecture dependent check of whether hugepage are implemented on a pmd
basis or not. And on some architecture multiple sizes of hugepages are
available, so hugepage_migration_support() also checks hugepage size.

Vaidyanathan Srinivasan 363edbe261 powerpc: Default arch idle could cede processor on pseries
When adding cpuidle support to pSeries, we introduced two
regressions:

  - The new cpuidle backend driver only works under hypervisors
supporting the "SLPLAR" option, which isn't the case of the
old POWER4 hypervisor and the HV "light" used on js2x blades

  - The cpuidle driver registers fairly late, meaning that for
a significant portion of the boot process, we end up having
all threads spinning. This slows down the boot process and
increases the overall resource usage if the hypervisor has
    shared processors.

This fixes both by implementing a "default" idle that will cede
to the hypervisor when possible, in a very simple way without
all the bells and whisles of cpuidle.

Linus Torvalds b4b50fd78b ARM: SoC platform changes for 3.12
This branch contains mostly additions and changes to platform enablement
and SoC-level drivers. Since there's sometimes a dependency on device-tree
changes, there's also a fair amount of those in this branch.

 Pieces worth mentioning are:

 - Mbus driver for Marvell platforms, allowing kernel configuration
and resource allocation of on-chip peripherals.
 - Enablement of the mbus infrastructure from Marvell PCI-e drivers.
 - Preparation of MSI support for Marvell platforms.
 - Addition of new PCI-e host controller driver for Tegra platforms
 - Some churn caused by sharing of macro names between i.MX 6Q and 6DL
platforms in the device tree sources and header files.
 - Various suspend/PM updates for Tegra, including LP1 support.
 - Versatile Express support for MCPM, part of big little support.
 - Allwinner platform support for A20 and A31 SoCs (dual and quad Cortex-A7)
 - OMAP2+ support for DRA7, a new Cortex-A15-based SoC.

The code that touches other architectures are patches moving
MSI arch-specific functions over to weak symbols and removal of
 ARCH_SUPPORTS_MSI, acked by PCI maintainers.

Paul Mackerras fd3bb91287 powerpc/xmon: Fix printing of set of CPUs in xmon
Commit 24ec2125f3 ("powerpc/xmon: Use cpumask iterator to avoid warning")
replaced a loop from 0 to NR_CPUS-1 with a for_each_possible_cpu() loop,
which means that if the last possible cpu is in xmon, we print the
wrong value for the end of the range. For example, if 4 cpus are
possible, NR_CPUS is 128, and all cpus are in xmon, we print "0-7f"
rather than "0-3". The code also assumes that the set of possible
cpus is contiguous, which may not necessarily be true.

This fixes the code to check explicitly for contiguity, and to print
the ending value correctly.

          'perf record', by David Ahern.

. Allow specifying syscalls a la strace, by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Add --verbose and -o/--output options, by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Support ! in -e expressions, to filter a list of syscalls,
          by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Arg formatting improvements to allow masking arguments in
syscalls such as futex and open, where the some arguments are
ignored and thus should not be printed depending on other args,
          by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Beautify futex open, openat, open_by_handle_at, lseek and futex
syscalls, by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Add option to analyze events in a file versus live, so that
          one can do:

           [root@zoo ~]# perf record -a -e raw_syscalls:* sleep 1
[ perf record: Woken up 0 times to write data ]
           [ perf record: Captured and wrote 25.150 MB perf.data (~1098836 samples) ]
           [root@zoo ~]# perf trace -i perf.data -e futex --duration 1
              17.799 ( 1.020 ms): 7127 futex(uaddr: 0x7fff3f6c6674, op: 393, val: 1, utime: 0x7fff3f6c6470, ua
             113.344 (95.429 ms): 7127 futex(uaddr: 0x7fff3f6c6674, op: 393, val: 1, utime: 0x7fff3f6c6470, uaddr2: 0x7fff3f6c6648, val3: 4294967
             133.778 ( 1.042 ms): 18004 futex(uaddr: 0x7fff3f6c6674, op: 393, val: 1, utime: 0x7fff3f6c6470, uaddr2: 0x7fff3f6c6648, val3: 429496
           [root@zoo ~]#

          By David Ahern.

. Honor target pid / tid options when analyzing a file, by David Ahern.

. Introduce better formatting of syscall arguments, including so
far beautifiers for mmap, madvise, syscall return values,
          by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

. Handle HUGEPAGE defines in the mmap beautifier, by David Ahern.

   - 'perf report/top' enhancements:

. Do annotation using /proc/kcore and /proc/kallsyms when
available, removing the forced need for a vmlinux file kernel
assembly annotation. This also improves this use case because
vmlinux has just the initial kernel image, not what is actually
in use after various code patchings by things like alternatives.
          By Adrian Hunter.

. Add --ignore-callees=<regex> option to collapse undesired parts
of call graphs, by Greg Price.

. Simplify symbol filtering by doing it at machine class level,
          by Adrian Hunter.

          duration, by David Ahern.

. Improve stack trace printing, by David Ahern.

. Update documentation of the live command, by David Ahern

. Remove odd build stall by moving a large struct initialization
from a local variable to a global one, by Namhyung Kim.

   - 'perf stat' enhancements:

. Add --initial-delay option to skip measuring for a defined
          startup phase, by Andi Kleen.

   - Generic perf tooling infrastructure/plumbing changes:

. Tidy up sample parsing validation, by Adrian Hunter.

. Fix up jobserver setup in libtraceevent Makefile.
          by Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo.

it's always equal to ->d_sb of the second argument (parent dentry),
due to either being literally that, or ->d_sb of parent's parent.
