Wake gpiochip_generic_request() call into the pinctrl helpers only if a
GPIO controller had any pin-ranges assigned to it. This allows a driver
to unconditionally use this helper if it supports multiple devices of
which only a subset have pin-ranges assigned to them.

The default handling of the gpio-line-names property by the
gpiolib-of implementation does not work with the multiple
gpiochip banks per device structure used by the gpio-brcmstb
driver.
This commit adds driver level support for the device tree
property so that GPIO lines can be assigned friendly names.

Some gpio controllers ignores pin value writing when that pin is
configured as input mode. As a result, bgpio_dir_out should set
pin to output before configuring pin values or gpio pin values
can't be set up properly.
Introduce two variants of bgpio_dir_out: bgpio_dir_out_val_first
and bgpio_dir_out_dir_first, and assign direction_output according
to a new flag: BGPIOF_NO_SET_ON_INPUT.

Existing (irq < 0) condition is always false because adev->irq has unsigned
type and contains 0 in case of failed irq_of_parse_and_map(). Up to now all
the mapping errors were silently ignored.
Seems that repairing this check would be backwards-incompatible and might
break the probe() for the implementations without IRQ support. Therefore
warn the user instead.

Like on the other HP x2 10 models we need to ignore wakeup for ACPI GPIO
events on the external embedded-controller pin to avoid spurious wakeups
on the HP x2 10 CHT + AXP288 model too.
This commit adds an extra DMI based quirk for the HP x2 10 CHT + AXP288
model, ignoring wakeups for ACPI GPIO events on the EC interrupt pin
on this model. This fixes spurious wakeups from suspend on this model.

are at least 3 different HP x2 10 models:

And the original quirk is only correct for (and only matches the)
Cherry Trail SoC + TI PMIC model.
The Bay Trail SoC + AXP288 PMIC model has different DMI strings, has
the external EC interrupt on a different GPIO pin and only needs to ignore
wakeups on the EC interrupt, the INT0002 device works fine on this model.

Commit aa23ca3d98 ("gpiolib: acpi: Add honor_wakeup module-option +
quirk mechanism") was added to deal with spurious wakeups on one specific
model of the HP x2 10 series.
The approach taken there was to add a bool controlling wakeup support for
all ACPI GPIO events. This was sufficient for the specific HP x2 10 model
the commit was trying to fix, but in the mean time other models have
turned up which need a similar workaround to avoid spurious wakeups from
suspend, but only for one of the pins on which the ACPI tables request
ACPI GPIO events.
Since the honor_wakeup option was added to be able to ignore wake events,
the name was perhaps not the best, this commit renames it to ignore_wake
and changes it to a string with the following format:
gpiolib_acpi.ignore_wake=controller@pin[,controller@pin[,...]]
This allows working around spurious wakeup issues on a per pin basis.
This commit also reworks the existing quirk for the HP x2 10 so that
it functions as before.
Note:
-This removes the honor_wakeup parameter. This has only been upstream for
a short time and to the best of my knowledge there are no users using
this module parameter.
-The controller@pin[,controller@pin[,...]] syntax is based on an existing
kernel module parameter using the same controller@pin format. That version
uses ';' as separator, but in practice that is problematic because grub2
cannot handle this without taking special care to escape the ';', so here
we are using a ',' as separator instead which does not have this issue.

There are 2 issues with the comment describing the quirk:
1) The comment claims the DMI quirk applies to all Cherry Trail based HP x2
10 models. In the mean time I have learned that there are at least 3
models of the HP x2 10 models:
Bay Trail SoC + AXP288 PMIC
Cherry Trail SoC + AXP288 PMIC
Cherry Trail SoC + TI PMIC
And this quirk's DMI matches only match the Cherry Trail SoC + TI PMIC
SoC, which is good because we want a slightly different quirk for the
others. This commit updates the comment to make it clear that the quirk
is only for the Cherry Trail SoC + TI PMIC models.
2) The comment says that it is ok to disable wakeup on all ACPI GPIO event
handlers, because there is only the one for the embedded-controller
events. This is not true, there also is a handler for the special
INT0002 device which is related to USB wakeups. We need to also disable
wakeups on that one because the device turns of the USB-keyboard built
into the dock when closing the lid. The XHCI controller takes a while
to notice this, so it only notices it when already suspended, causing
a spurious wakeup because of this. So disabling wakeup on all handlers
is the right thing to do, but not because there only is the one handler
for the EC events. This commit updates the comment to correctly reflect
this.

The implementation if .irq_disable() which kicks in between
the gpiolib and the driver is not properly mimicking the
expected semantics of the irqchip core: the irqchip will
call .irq_disable() if that exists, else it will call
mask_irq() which first checks if .irq_mask() is defined
before calling it.
Since we are calling it unconditionally, we get this bug
from drivers/pinctrl/qcom/pinctrl-ssbi-gpio.c, as it only
defines .irq_mask_ack and not .irq_mask:

With the SoC cpuidle handling fixed for cpu_pm, we can now start to
return NOTIFY_BAD if there there are pending gpio interrupts.
This way the deeper SoC idle states can get blocked, and gpio latency
is improved in some cases. Note that this will not help with the
latency if the SoC has already entered a deeper idle state.
Note that this patch depends on cpu_pm properly handling the errors
returned by notifiers. For omap variants, this is fixed with patch
"ARM: OMAP2+: Handle errors for cpu_pm".

The optimization to check for requested lines actually optimized for the
uncomon error case, where one of the GPIO lines is still in use.
Hence the error message must be printed when the loop is terminated
early, not when it went through all available GPIO lines.

When operating on the bits of watched_lines bitmap, we're using
desc_to_gpio() which returns the GPIO number from the global numberspace.
This leads to all sorts of memory corruptions and invalid behavior. We
should switch to using gpio_chip_hwgpio() instead.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertenly introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

As GPIO hogs are configured at GPIO controller initialization time,
adding/removing GPIO hogs in DT overlays does not work.
Add support for GPIO hogs described in DT overlays by registering an OF
reconfiguration notifier, to handle the addition and removal of GPIO hog
subnodes to/from a GPIO controller device node.
Note that when a GPIO hog device node is being removed, its "gpios"
properties is no longer available, so we have to keep track of which
node a hog belongs to, which is done by adding a pointer to the hog's
device node to struct gpio_desc.

The existing use of ktime_get_real_ns() in the timestamps from
the GPIO events is dubious.
We have had several discussions about this timestamp, and it is
unclear whether userspace has ever taken into account that a
timestamp from ktime_get_real_ns() can actually move backwards
in time relative the previous timetamp, and userspace is more
likely to expect a monotonic counter.

The change is ABI incompatible, but incompatible in a way that
is IMO more likely to fix future bugs rather than break current

All the irq related callbacks are called with the (raw) spinlock
desc->lock being held. So the lock here must be raw as well. Also irqs
were already disabled by the caller for the irq chip callbacks, so the
non-irq variants of spin_lock must be used there.

Currently there is no way for user-space to be informed about changes
in status of GPIO lines e.g. when someone else requests the line or its
config changes. We can only periodically re-read the line-info. This
is fine for simple one-off user-space tools, but any daemon that provides
a centralized access to GPIO chips would benefit hugely from an event
driven line info synchronization.
This patch adds a new ioctl() that allows user-space processes to reuse
the file descriptor associated with the character device for watching
any changes in line properties. Every such event contains the updated
line information.
Currently the events are generated on three types of status changes: when
a line is requested, when it's released and when its config is changed.
The first two are self-explanatory. For the third one: this will only
happen when another user-space process calls the new SET_CONFIG ioctl()
as any changes that can happen from within the kernel (i.e.
set_transitory() or set_debounce()) are of no interest to user-space.

events. Add a ratelimited debug message so that we at least have some
trace in the kernel log of event overflow.

The read_lock mutex is supposed to prevent collisions between reading
and writing to the line event kfifo but it's actually only taken when
the events are being read from it.
Drop the mutex entirely and reuse the spinlock made available to us in
the waitqueue struct. Take the lock whenever the fifo is modified or
inspected. Drop the call to kfifo_to_user() and instead first extract
the new element from kfifo when the lock is taken and only then pass
it on to the user after the spinlock is released.

Care is taken with "index", however with the current version
the actual xgpio_writereg is using index for data but
xgpio_regoffset(chip, i) for the offset. And since i is already
incremented it is incorrect. This patch fixes it so that index
is used for the offset too.

Commit d90f36851d ("gpiolib: have a single place of calling
set_config()") introduced a regression where we don't pass the right
variable as argument to the set_config() callback of gpio driver from
gpio_set_config(). After reverting two additional patches that came
on top of it - this addresses the issue by changing the type of the last
argument of gpio_do_set_config() to unsigned long and making sure the
packed config variable is actually used in gpio_set_config().

- use platform_get_irq_optional() in gpio-altera
ROHM BD71828 PMIC contains 4 pins which can be configured by OTP
to be used for general purposes. First 3 can be used as outputs
and 4.th pin can be used as input. Allow them to be controlled
via GPIO framework.
The driver assumes all of the pins are configured as GPIOs and
trusts that the reserved pins in other OTP configurations are
excluded from control using "gpio-reserved-ranges" device tree
property (or left untouched by GPIO users).
Typical use for 4.th pin (input) is to use it as HALL sensor
input so that this pin state is toggled when HALL sensor detects
LID position change (from close to open or open to close). PMIC
HW implements some extra logic which allows PMIC to power-up the
system when this pin is toggled. Please see the data sheet for
details of GPIO options which can be selected by OTP settings.

If a driver consuming the GPIO chip is being probed at the same time as
the GPIO driver is registering the chip, it is possible for the
consuming driver to see the ->descs array in an uninitialised state.
For example, the gpio-keys-polled driver can fail like this:

This patch makes gpiochip_add() hold the lock protecting gpio_devices
until it has finished setting desc->gdev on the newly inserted list
entry.

gpiochip_set_chained_irqchip() would assign a chained handler
to a GPIO chip. We now populate struct gpio_irq_chip for all
chained GPIO irqchips so drop this function.

When input GPIO set from 0 to 1, the interrupt bit asserted in the GPIO
Interrupt Cause Register (ICR) even if the corresponding interrupt
masked in the GPIO Interrupt Mask Register.
Because interrupt mask register only affects assertion of the interrupt
bits in Main Interrupt Cause Register and it does not affect the
setting of bits in the GPIO ICR.
So, there is problem, when we unmask interrupt with already
asserted bit in the GPIO ICR, then false interrupt immediately occurs
even if GPIO don't change their value since last unmask.

In the current codes, the following 3 lines would be output to
the console for each irq line.
gpio gpiochip0: (gpio_thunderx): allocate IRQ 10, hwirq 0
gpio gpiochip0: (gpio_thunderx): found parent hwirq 245784
gpio gpiochip0: (gpio_thunderx): alloc_irqs_parent for 10 parent hwirq 245784
In general, there are about tens of irq lines for each gpio chip,
and then it would emit so many insignificant log in the boot process.
These infos are more suitable for the dbg purpose. So change these
to the dbg level. With this change, about 200 lines are suppressed
on my Marvell cn96xx board.

controller vs. the default one that the parent irqchip gets.
This used to be done before this driver was converted to hierarchical
irq domains in commit e35a6ae0eb ("pinctrl/msm: Setup GPIO chip in
hierarchy") via the gpiochip_irq_map() function. With hierarchical irq
domains this function has been replaced by
gpiochip_hierarchy_irq_domain_alloc(). Therefore, set the lockdep class
like was done previously in the irq domain path so we can avoid this
lockdep warning.

Some gpio's parent irqdomain may not use the struct irq_fwspec as
argument, such as msi irqdomain. So rename the callback
populate_parent_fwspec() to populate_parent_alloc_arg() and make it
allocate and populate the specific struct which is needed by the
parent irqdomain.

there are some bugs in this commit, and we don't have a simple way to
fix these bugs. So revert this commit to make the thunderx gpio work
on the stable kernel at least. We will switch to GPIOLIB_IRQCHIP
for thunderx gpio by following patches.

This patch switches to platform_get_irq_optional() from
platform_get_irq() as it causes a false-positive error such as 'IRQ
index 0 not found' when IRQ is not used. The IRQ usage is optional in
this gpio-altera driver, so the error log is undesirable.

On some laptops enabling wakeup on the GPIO interrupts used for ACPI _AEI
event handling causes spurious wakeups.
This commit adds a new honor_wakeup option, defaulting to true (our current
behavior), which can be used to disable wakeup on troublesome hardware
to avoid these spurious wakeups.
This is a workaround for an architectural problem with s2idle under Linux
where we do not have any mechanism to immediately go back to sleep after
wakeup events, other then for embedded-controller events using the standard
ACPI EC interface, for details see:

One series of laptops which is not able to suspend without this workaround
is the HP x2 10 Cherry Trail models, this commit adds a DMI based quirk

gpiochip_get_desc() takes a u16 hwnum, but it turns out most users don't
respect that and usually pass an unsigned int. Since implicit casting to
a smaller type is dangerous - let's change the type of hwnum to unsigned
int in gpiochip_get_desc() and in gpiochip_request_own_desc() where the
size of hwnum is not respected either and who's a user of the former.
This is safe as we then check the hwnum against the number of lines
before proceeding in gpiochip_get_desc().

Instead of calling the gpiochip's set_config() callback directly and
checking its existence every time - just add a new routine that performs
this check internally. Call it in gpio_set_config() and
gpiod_set_transitory(). Also call it in gpiod_set_debounce() and drop
the check for chip->set() as it's irrelevant to this config option.

All GPIO interrupts are disabled during of the NOIRQ suspend/resume
phase, thus there is no need to manually disable the interrupts. This

There is no point in using old-style raw accessors, the generic accessors
do the same thing and also take into account CPU endianness. Tegra SoCs do
not support big-endian mode in the upstream kernel, but let's switch away
from the outdated things anyway, just to keep code up-to-date.

There are a few places around the code that invert inverted and possibly
inverted CD line. That's really confusing. Squash them all into one place
in mmc_gpiod_request_cd(). MMC_CAP2_CD_ACTIVE_HIGH is used analogously to
WP line: in GPIO mode it is used only at probe time to switch polarity, for
native mode it is left as is.

The LogiCVC display hardware block comes with GPIO capabilities
that must be exposed separately from the main driver (as GPIOs) for
use with regulators and panels. A syscon is used to share the same
regmap across the two drivers.
Add a minimalistic GPIO driver to drive these GPIOs, using a syscon
regmap when available.

device trees) to determine the count of available interrupts. So
use this instead.
As platform_irq_count() might return an error code (which
of_irq_count doesn't) some additional handling is necessary.

Since we have driver converted to use bitmap API we must use
traditional bit operations (set_bit(), clear_bit(), etc.)
against it.
Currently IRQ callbacks are missed in the conversion and
thus broken.
Let's fix it right here right now.

gpiolib has a corner case with open drain outputs that are emulated.
When such outputs are outputting a logic 1, emulation will set the
hardware to input mode, which will cause gpiod_get_direction() to
report that it is in input mode. This is different from the behaviour
with a true open-drain output.
Unify the semantics here.

When a GPIO offset in a lookup table is out-of-range, the printed error
message (1) does not include the actual out-of-range value, and (2)
contains an off-by-one error in the upper bound.
Avoid user confusion by also printing the actual GPIO offset, and
correcting the upper bound of the range.
While at it, use "%u" for unsigned int.
Sample impact:
-requested GPIO 0 is out of range [0..32] for chip e6052000.gpio
+requested GPIO 0 (45) is out of range [0..31] for chip e6052000.gpio

We have a special quirk to handle the Freescale
nonstandard SPI chipselect GPIOs in the gpiolib-of.c
file, but it currently only handles the case where
the GPIOs are actually requested (gpiod_*get()).
We also need to handle that the SPI core attempts
to count the GPIOs before use, and that needs a
similar quirk in the OF part of the library.

Here is the "big" set of driver core patches for 5.5-rc1
There's a few minor cleanups and fixes in here, but the majority of the
patches in here fall into two buckets:
- debugfs api cleanups and fixes
- driver core device link support for boot dependancy issues
The debugfs api cleanups are working to slowly refactor the debugfs apis
so that it is even harder to use incorrectly. That work has been
happening for the past few kernel releases and will continue over time,
it's a long-term project/goal
The driver core device link support missed 5.4 by just a bit, so it's
been sitting and baking for many months now. It's from Saravana Kannan
to help resolve the problems that DT-based systems have at boot time
with dependancy graphs and kernel modules. Turns out that no one has
actually tried to build a generic arm64 kernel with loads of modules and
have it "just work" for a variety of platforms (like a distro kernel)
The big problem turned out to be a lack of depandancy information
between different areas of DT entries, and the work here resolves that
problem and now allows devices to boot properly, and quicker than a
monolith kernel.
All of these patches have been in linux-next for a long time with no
reported issues.

When commit 75e99bf5ed ("gpio: lynxpoint: set default handler to be
handle_bad_irq()") switched default handler to be handle_bad_irq() the
lp_irq_type() function remained untouched. It means that even request_irq()
can't change the handler and we are not able to handle IRQs properly anymore.
Fix it by setting correct handlers in the lp_irq_type() callback.

acpi_gpiochip_alloc_event is used to loop over all _AEI resources, if
we fail to bind an event handler to one of them, that is not a reason to
not try the other resources.
This commit modifies acpi_gpiochip_alloc_event to always return AE_OK,
so that we will always try to add an event handler for all _AEI resources.

The per-SoC devtype structures can contain their own callbacks that
overwrite mpc8xxx_gpio_devtype_default.
The clear intention is that mpc8xxx_irq_set_type is used in case the SoC
does not specify a more specific callback. But what happens is that if
the SoC doesn't specify one, its .irq_set_type is de-facto NULL, and
this overwrites mpc8xxx_irq_set_type to a no-op. This means that the
following SoCs are affected:
- fsl,mpc8572-gpio
- fsl,ls1028a-gpio
- fsl,ls1088a-gpio
On these boards, the irq_set_type does exactly nothing, and the GPIO
controller keeps its GPICR register in the hardware-default state. On
the LS1028A, that is ACTIVE_BOTH, which means 2 interrupts are raised
even if the IRQ client requests LEVEL_HIGH. Another implication is that
the IRQs are not checked (e.g. level-triggered interrupts are not
rejected, although they are not supported).

The Terra Pad 1061 has the usual micro-USB-B id-pin handler, but instead
of controlling the actual micro-USB-B it turns the 5V boost for the
tablet's USB-A connector and its keyboard-cover connector off.
The actual micro-USB-B connector on the tablet is wired for charging only,
and its id pin is *not* connected to the GPIO which is used for the
(broken) id-pin event handler in the DSDT.
While at it not only add a comment why the Terra Pad 1061 is on the
blacklist, but also fix the missing comment for the Minix Neo Z83-4 entry.

When IRQ chip is instantiated via GPIO library flow, the few functions,
in particular the ACPI event registration mechanism, on some of ACPI based
platforms expect that the pin ranges are initialized to that point.

When IRQ chip is being added by GPIO library, the ACPI based platform expects
GPIO <-> pin mapping ranges to be initialized in order to correctly initialize
ACPI event mechanism on affected platforms. Unfortunately this step is missed.
Introduce ->add_pin_ranges() callback to fill the above mentioned gap.

The controls for the GG port on Tegra194 resides in the power partition
of the C5 PCIe controller and its interrupt route mapping can therefore
not be programmed by early boot firmware along with that of the other
ports.
Detect this generically by looking at which controls have already been
locked down using the security registers and fill in default values for
controls that are unlocked.

Add the GPIOHANDLE_SET_CONFIG_IOCTL to the gpio chardev.
The ioctl allows some of the configuration of a requested handle to be
changed without having to release the line.
The primary use case is the changing of direction for bi-directional
lines.

When converting milliseconds to microseconds in commit fffa6af948
("gpio: max77620: Use correct unit for debounce times") some ~1 ms gaps
were introduced between the various ranges supported by the controller.
Fix this by changing the start of each range to the value immediately
following the end of the previous range. This way a debounce time of,
say 8250 us will translate into 16 ms instead of returning an -EINVAL
error.
Typically the debounce delay is only ever set through device tree and
specified in milliseconds, so we can never really hit this issue because
debounce times are always a multiple of 1000 us.
The only notable exception for this is drivers/mmc/host/mmc-spi.c where
the CD GPIO is requested, which passes a 1 us debounce time. According
to a comment preceeding that code this should actually be 1 ms (i.e.
1000 us).

It's hard for occasional GPIO code reader/writer to know if values 0/1
equal to IN or OUT. Use defined GPIO_LINE_DIRECTION_IN and
GPIO_LINE_DIRECTION_OUT to help them out.

This commit also changes the return value for direction get to equal 1
for direction INPUT. Prior this commit these drivers might have

This driver supports the Chip Common A GPIO controller present on a
number of Broadcom switch ASICs with integrated SoCs. The controller is
similar to the pinctrl-nsp-gpio and pinctrl-iproc-gpio blocks but
different enough that a separate driver is required.
This has been ported from Broadcom's XLDK 5.0.3 retaining only the CCA
support (pinctrl-iproc-gpio covers CCB).

Add support for GPIO controller from RDA Micro. This GPIO controller
is an in house IP, developed by RDA Micro (now Unisoc) for the use in
RDA88* series of SoCs. There are multiple GPIO ports present in all SoCs,
each capable of addressing 32 GPIOs. But only first 8 pins have the
interrupt capability.

Some devicetrees specify the ACTIVE_LOW flag in the fixed regulator GPIO
handle. While this has always been ignored, it's consistent with the
behavior of the regulator binding in the absence of the
"enable-active-high" DT property. It doesn't make much sense to print a
user visible warning for a configuration which is consistent, so only
print the warning if the GPIO flag contradicts the behavior dictated by
by the enable-active-high property.

More than one gpio controllers can share one interrupt, change the
driver to request shared irq.
While this will work, it will mess up userspace accounting of the number
of interrupts per second in tools such as vmstat. The reason is that
for every GPIO interrupt, /proc/interrupts records the count against GIC
interrupt 68 or 69, as well as the GPIO itself. So, for every GPIO
interrupt, the total number of interrupts that the system has seen
increments by two.

After changing the drivers to use GPIO core to add an IRQ chip
it appears that some of them requires a hardware initialization
before adding the IRQ chip.
Add an optional callback ->init_hw() to allow that drivers
to initialize hardware if needed.
This change is a part of the fix NULL pointer dereference
brought to the several drivers recently.

There's no need to emit an error message on probe failure unless we're
printing some meaningful info. Otherwise the core driver code will
inform us about a probe error. Also: the driver currently drops info
about errors propagated from called functions by default to returning
-EINVAL. This fixes it as well.

The GPIO controller doesn't have any controls to enable the system to
wake up from low power states based on activity on GPIO pins. An extra
hardware block that is part of the power management controller (PMC)
contains these controls. In order for the GPIO controller to be able
to cooperate with the PMC, obtain a reference to the PMC's IRQ domain
and make it a parent to the GPIO controller's IRQ domain. This way the
PMC gets an opportunity to program the additional registers required
to enable wakeup sources on suspend.

The interrupt-related register fields on the MAX77620 GPIO controller
share registers with GPIO related fields. If the IRQ chip is implemented
with regmap-irq, this causes the IRQ controller code to overwrite fields
previously configured by the GPIO controller code.
Two examples where this causes problems are the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 and
Jetson TX2 boards, where some of the GPIOs are used to enable vital
power regulators. The MAX77620 GPIO controller also provides the USB OTG
ID pin. If configured as an interrupt, this causes some of the
regulators to be powered off.

regmap_add_irq_chip() will try to allocate all of the IRQ descriptors
upfront if passed a non-zero irq_base parameter. However, the intention
is to allocate IRQ descriptors on an as-needed basis if possible. Pass 0
instead of -1 to fix that use-case.

This introduces fwnode_gpiod_get_index() that iterates through common gpio
suffixes when trying to locate a GPIO within a given firmware node.
We also switch devm_fwnode_gpiod_get_index() to call
fwnode_gpiod_get_index() instead of iterating through GPIO suffixes on
its own.

devm_fwnode_get_index_gpiod_from_child() is too long, besides the fwnode
in question does not have to be a child of device node. Let's rename it
to devm_fwnode_gpiod_get_index() and keep the old name for compatibility
for now.
Also let's add a devm_fwnode_gpiod_get() wrapper as majority of the
callers need a single GPIO.

Since commit ec757001c8 ("gpio: Enable nonexclusive gpiods from DT
nodes") we are able to get GPIOD_FLAGS_BIT_NONEXCLUSIVE marked gpios.
Currently the gpiolib uses the wrong flags variable for the check. We
need to check the gpiod_flags instead of the of_gpio_flags else we
return -EBUSY for GPIOD_FLAGS_BIT_NONEXCLUSIVE marked and requested
gpiod's.

When emulating open-drain/open-source by not actively driving the output
lines - we're simply changing their mode to input. This is wrong as it
will then make it impossible to change the value of such line - it's now
considered to actually be in input mode. If we want to still use the
direction_input() callback for simplicity then we need to set FLAG_IS_OUT
manually in gpiod_direction_output() and not clear it in
gpio_set_open_drain_value_commit() and
gpio_set_open_source_value_commit().

This renames the "gpio-aspeed" driver to conform with other
GPIO drivers as "gpio-aspeed-sgpio.c". All GPIO drivers
should start with the string "gpio-" no special exceptions.
Also the Kconfig and Makefile entries should normally
go with the driver but I missed this in my review, sorry
for mistake. "CONFIG_GPIO_ASPEED_SGPIO" is used to
activate this driver.

The main change this time around is a cleanup of some of the oldest
platforms based on the XScale and ARM9 CPU cores, which are between 10
and 20 years old.
The Kendin/Micrel/Microchip KS8695, Winbond/Nuvoton W90x900 and Intel
IOP33x/IOP13xx platforms are removed after we determined that nobody is
using them any more.
The TI Davinci and NXP LPC32xx platforms on the other hand are still in
active use and are converted to the ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM build, meaning
that we can compile a kernel that works on these along with most other
ARMv5 platforms. Changes toward that goal are also merged for IOP32x,
but additional work is needed to complete this. Patches for the
remaining ARMv5 platforms have started but need more work and some
testing.
Support for the new ASpeed AST2600 gets added, this is based on the
Cortex-A7 ARMv7 core, and is a newer version of the existing ARMv5 and
ARMv6 chips in the same family.
Other changes include a cleanup of the ST-Ericsson ux500 platform
and the move of the TI Davinci platform to a new clocksource driver.

The old Arizona binding did not use -gpio or -gpios suffix, so
devm_gpiod_get() does not work for it. As it is the one of a few users
of devm_gpiod_get_from_of_node() API that I want to remove, I'd rather
have a small quirk in the gpiolib OF handler, and switch Arizona
driver to devm_gpiod_get().

no more users of of_gpio_simple_xlate() outside gpiolib-of.c.
All GPIO drivers that need it now rely on of_gpiochip_add() setting it

The ast2600 is a new generation of SoC from ASPEED. Similarly to the
ast2400 and ast2500, it has a GPIO controller for it's 3.3V GPIO pins.
Additionally, it has a GPIO controller for 1.8V GPIO pins.
As the register names for both controllers are the same and the 36 1.8V
GPIOs and the first 36 of the 3.3V GPIOs are all bidirectional, we can
use the same configuration struct and use the ngpio property to
differentiate between the two sets of GPIOs.

Use the ngpio property from the device tree if it exists. If it doesn't
then fallback to the hardcoded value in the config.
This is in preparation for adding ast2600 support. The ast2600 SoC has
two GPIO controllers and so requires two instances of the GPIO driver.
We use the ngpio property to different between them as they have
different numbers of GPIOs.

The current calculation for the number of GPIO banks is only correct if
the number of GPIOs is a multiple of 32 (if there were 31 GPIOs we would
currently say there are 0 banks, which is incorrect).

Another day; another DSDT bug we need to workaround...
Since commit ca876c7483 ("gpiolib-acpi: make sure we trigger edge events
at least once on boot") we call _AEI edge handlers at boot.
In some rare cases this causes problems. One example of this is the Minix
Neo Z83-4 mini PC, this device has a clear DSDT bug where it has some copy
and pasted code for dealing with Micro USB-B connector host/device role
switching, while the mini PC does not even have a micro-USB connector.
This code, which should not be there, messes with the DDC data pin from
the HDMI connector (switching it to GPIO mode) breaking HDMI support.
To avoid problems like this, this commit adds a new
gpiolib_acpi.run_edge_events_on_boot kernel commandline option, which
allows disabling the running of _AEI edge event handlers at boot.
The default value is -1/auto which uses a DMI based blacklist, the initial
version of this blacklist contains the Neo Z83-4 fixing the HDMI breakage.

After changing the valid_mask for the struct gpio_chip
to detect the need and presence of a valid mask with the
presence of a .init_valid_mask() callback to fill it in,
we augment the gpio_irq_chip to use the same logic.
Switch all driver using the gpio_irq_chio valid_mask
over to this new method.
This makes sure the valid_mask for the gpio_irq_chip gets
filled in when we add the gpio_chip, which makes it a
little easier to switch over drivers using the old
way of setting up gpio_irq_chip over to the new method
of passing the gpio_irq_chip along with the gpio_chip.
