Damien Lespiau b766879106 drm/i915/skl: Tune IZ hashing when subslices are unbalanced
When one EU is disabled in a particular subslice, we can tune how the
work is spread between subslices to improve EU utilization.

v2: - Use a bitfield to record which subslice(s) has(have) 7 EUs. That
      will also make the machinery work if several sublices have 7 EUs.

Jeff McGee 3873218f35 drm/i915/skl: Determine SKL slice/subslice/EU info
Read fuse registers to determine the available slice total,
subslice total, subslice per slice, EU total, and EU per subslice
counts of the SKL device. The EU per subslice attribute is more
precisely defined as the maximum EU available on any one subslice,
since available EU counts may vary across subslices due to fusing.
Set flags indicating the SKL device's slice/subslice/EU (SSEU)
power gating capability. Make all values available via debugfs
entry 'i915_sseu_status'.

v2: Several small clean-ups suggested by Damien. Most notably,
    used smaller types for the new device info fields to reduce
    memory usage and improved the clarity/readability of the
    method used to extract attribute values from the fuse
    registers.

Yu Zhang e21fd552ff drm/i915: Add the display switch logic for vGPU in i915 driver
Display switch logic is added to notify the host side that
current vGPU have a valid surface to show. It does so by
writing the display_ready field in PV INFO page, and then
will be handled in the host side. This is useful to avoid
trickiness when the VM's framebuffer is being accessed in
the middle of VM modesetting, e.g. compositing the framebuffer
in the host side.

Mika Kuoppala b8d24a0656 drm/i915: Remove nested work in gpu error handling
Now when we declare gpu errors only through our own dedicated
hangcheck workqueue there is no need to have a separate workqueue
for handling the resetting and waking up the clients as the deadlock
concerns are no more.

The only exception is i915_debugfs::i915_set_wedged, which triggers
error handling through process context. However as this is only used through
test harness it is responsibility for test harness not to introduce hangs
through both debug interface and through hangcheck mechanism at the same time.

Remove gpu_error.work and let the hangcheck work do the tasks it used to.

Chris Wilson 737b150603 drm/i915: Convert hangcheck from a timer into a delayed work item
When run as a timer, i915_hangcheck_elapsed() must adhere to all the
rules of running in a softirq context. This is advantageous to us as we
want to minimise the risk that a driver bug will prevent us from
detecting a hung GPU. However, that is irrelevant if the driver bug
prevents us from resetting and recovering. Still it is prudent not to
rely on mutexes inside the checker, but given the coarseness of
dev->struct_mutex doing so is extremely hard.

Give in and run from a work queue, i.e. outside of softirq.

Deepak S 693d11c340 drm/i915/chv: Populate total EU count on Cherryview
Starting with Cherryview, devices may have a varying number of EU for
a given ID due to creative fusing. Punit support different frequency for
different fuse data. We use this patch to help get total eu enabled and
read the right offset to get RP0

Based upon a patch from Jeff, but reworked to only store eu_total and
avoid sending info to userspace

Chris Wilson c9dc0f3598 drm/i915: Add ioctl to set per-context parameters
Sometimes we wish to tweak how an individual context behaves. Since we
always create a context for every filp, this means that individual
processes can fine tune their behaviour even if they do not explicitly
create a context.

The first example parameter here is to enable multi-process GPU testing,
but the interface should be able to cope with passing arbitrarily complex
parameters.

Akash Goel 1816f92363 drm/i915: Support creation of unbound wc user mappings for objects
This patch provides support to create write-combining virtual mappings of
GEM object. It intends to provide the same funtionality of 'mmap_gtt'
interface without the constraints and contention of a limited aperture
space, but requires clients handles the linear to tile conversion on their
own. This is for improving the CPU write operation performance, as with such
mapping, writes and reads are almost 50% faster than with mmap_gtt. Similar
to the GTT mmapping, unlike the regular CPU mmapping, it avoids the cache
flush after update from CPU side, when object is passed onto GPU.  This
type of mapping is specially useful in case of sub-region update,
i.e. when only a portion of the object is to be updated. Using a CPU mmap
in such cases would normally incur a clflush of the whole object, and
using a GTT mmapping would likely require eviction of an active object or
fence and thus stall. The write-combining CPU mmap avoids both.

To ensure the cache coherency, before using this mapping, the GTT domain
has been reused here. This provides the required cache flush if the object
is in CPU domain or synchronization against the concurrent rendering.
Although the access through an uncached mmap should automatically
invalidate the cache lines, this may not be true for non-temporal write
instructions and also not all pages of the object may be updated at any
given point of time through this mapping.  Having a call to get_pages in
set_to_gtt_domain function, as added in the earlier patch 'drm/i915:
Broaden application of set-domain(GTT)', would guarantee the clflush and
so there will be no cachelines holding the data for the object before it
is accessed through this map.

The drm_i915_gem_mmap structure (for the DRM_I915_GEM_MMAP_IOCTL) has been
extended with a new flags field (defaulting to 0 for existent users). In
order for userspace to detect the extended ioctl, a new parameter
I915_PARAM_MMAP_VERSION has been added for versioning the ioctl interface.

Brad Volkin 78a423772d drm/i915: Use batch pools with the command parser
This patch sets up all of the tracking and copying necessary to
use batch pools with the command parser and dispatches the copied
(shadow) batch to the hardware.

After this patch, the parser is in 'enabling' mode.

Note that performance takes a hit from the copy in some cases
and will likely need some work. At a rough pass, the memcpy
appears to be the bottleneck. Without having done a deeper
analysis, two ideas that come to mind are:
1) Copy sections of the batch at a time, as they are reached
   by parsing. Might improve cache locality.
2) Copy only up to the userspace-supplied batch length and
   memset the rest of the buffer. Reduces the number of reads.

- Replace batch_obj with shadow_batch_obj and hook into eb->vmas

Chris Wilson 5c6c600354 drm/i915: Remove DRI1 ring accessors and API
With the deprecation of UMS, and by association DRI1, we have a tough
choice when updating the ring access routines. We either rewrite the
DRI1 routines blindly without testing (so likely to be broken) or take
the liberty of declaring them no longer supported and remove them
entirely. This takes the latter approach.

Chris Wilson 6a2c4232ec drm/i915: Make the physical object coherent with GTT
Currently objects for which the hardware needs a contiguous physical
address are allocated a shadow backing storage to satisfy the contraint.
This shadow buffer is not wired into the normal obj->pages and so the
physical object is incoherent with accesses via the GPU, GTT and CPU. By
setting up the appropriate scatter-gather table, we can allow userspace
to access the physical object via either a GTT mmaping of or by rendering
into the GEM bo. However, keeping the CPU mmap of the shmemfs backing
storage coherent with the contiguous shadow is not yet possible.
Fortuituously, CPU mmaps of objects requiring physical addresses are not
expected to be coherent anyway.

This allows the physical constraint of the GEM object to be transparent
to userspace and allow it to efficiently render into or update them via
the GTT and GPU.

This means it has to be before intel_modeset_cleanup, which cleans the
CRTC structures. But if we move it to before intel_fbdev_fini(), we

Daniel Vetter 2aeb7d3a4d drm/i915: s/pm._irqs_disabled/pm.irqs_enabled/
Double negations just parse harder. Also this allows us to ditch some
init code since clearing to 0 dtrt. Also ditch the assignment in
intel_pm_setup, that's not redundant since we do the assignement now
while setting up interrupts.

While at it do engage in a bit of OCD and wrap up the few lines of
setup/teardown code into little helper functions: intel_irq_fini for
cleanup and intel_irq_init_hw for hw setup.

Allows us to mark it static and so forgoe the kerneldoc for it.

Note that intel_power_domains_fini is also called from failure paths
in the driver load sequence. But the call to runtime_pm_disable for

Daniel Vetter f458ebbc33 drm/i915: Bikeshed rpm functions name a bit.
- fini goes with init, so call it intel_power_domains_fini. While
  at it shovel some of the fini code that leaked out of it back in.

- give power_enabled functions the verb _is_ to make the meaning clearer.
  Also use a __ prefix instead of _unlocked to really discourage users.

- rename runtime_pm_init/fini to enable/disable since that's what they do.

Daniel Vetter 4868b45de1 drm/i915: Fix irq enable tracking in driver load
A bunch of warnings fire on some ->irq_postinstall hooks since those
can enable interrupts (e.g. rps interrupts). And then our ordering
self-checks fire and complain.

To fix that set the tracking boolen before enabling the irqs with
drm_irq_install. Quoting the discussion with Jesse why that's safe:

Well we've done it in 4 commits or so, but currently we have:

- Set irqs_disabled to true early in driver load to make sure checks
that. That's done in irq_init, which is totally not the function that
enables interrupts, only the function that initializes all the vtables
and similar things. We actually have a fairly sane naming scheme
nowadays (not fully consistent ofc): _init is sw setup,
_enable/_hw_init is the actual hw setup. That is done in
95f25beddb

- Set irqs_disabled to false right after the irqs are actually
enabled. This is done in ed2e6df189

So my change should only move the flag change over the ->preinstall
and ->postinstall hooks. I've done a little audit and didn't spot
anything amiss. Furthermore the runtime pm setup already clears
irqs_disabled _before_ calling these two hooks.

Chris Wilson 82e3b8c130 drm/i915: Localise the fbdev console lock frobbing
Rather than take and release the console_lock() around a non-existent
DRM_I915_FBDEV, move the lock acquisation into the callee where it will
be compiled out by the config option entirely. This includes moving the
deferred fb_set_suspend() dance and encapsulating it entirely within
intel_fbdev.c.

Daniel Vetter 896ab1a5d5 drm/i915: Fix up checks for aliasing ppgtt
A subsequent patch will no longer initialize the aliasing ppgtt if we
have full ppgtt enabled, since we simply don't need that any more.

Unfortunately a few places check for the aliasing ppgtt instead of
checking for ppgtt in general. Fix them up.

One special case are the gtt offset and size macros, which have some
code to remap the aliasing ppgtt to the global gtt. The aliasing ppgtt
is _not_ a logical address space, so passing that in as the vm is
plain and simple a bug. So just WARN about it and carry on - we have a
gracefully fall-through anyway if we can't find the vma.

Chris Wilson dbbe912795 drm/i915: Agnostic INTEL_INFO
Adapt the macro so that we can pass either the struct drm_device or the
struct drm_i915_private pointers and get the answer we want. Over time,
my plan is to convert all users over to using drm_i915_private and so
trimming down the pointer dance. Having spent a few hours chasing that
goal and achieved over 8k of object code saving, it appears to be a
worthwhile target. This interim macro allows us to slowly convert over.

Ville Syrjälä e2fcdaa9c9 drm/i915: Free pending page flip events at .preclose()
If there are pending page flips when the fd gets closed those page
flips may have events associated to them. When the page flip eventually
completes it will queue the event to file_priv->event_list, but that
may be too late and file_priv->event_list has already been cleaned up.
Thus we leak a bit of kernel memory in the form of the event structure.

To avoid such problems clear out such pending events from
intel_crtc->unpin_work at ->preclose(). Any event that already made it
to file_priv->event_list will get cleaned up by the drm_release_events()
a bit later.

We can ignore the file_priv->event_space accounting since file_priv is
going away. This is already how drm core deals with pending vblank
events, which are maintained by the drm core.

What saves us from a total disaster (ie. dereferencing and alrady
freed file_priv) is the fact that the fb descruction triggers a modeset
and there we wait for pending flips.
