Linus Torvalds b32729b1ee Merge branch 'stable' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cmetcalf/linux-tile
Pull tile update from Chris Metcalf:
"The interesting bug fix is support for the upcoming "4.2" release of
the Tilera hypervisor, which by default launches Linux at privilege
level 2 instead of 1. The fix lets new and old hypervisors and
Linuxes interoperate more smoothly, so I've tagged it for
stable@kernel.org so that older Linuxes will be able to boot under the
  newer hypervisor."

Linus Torvalds 5647ac0ad4 Removal of GENERIC_GPIO for v3.10
GENERIC_GPIO now synonymous with GPIOLIB. There are no longer any valid
cases for enableing GENERIC_GPIO without GPIOLIB, even though it is
possible to do so which has been causing confusion and breakage. This
branch does the work to completely eliminate GENERIC_GPIO.

However, it is not trivial to just create a branch to remove it. Over
the course of the v3.9 cycle more code referencing GENERIC_GPIO has been
added to linux-next that conflicts with this branch. The following must
be done to resolve the conflicts when merging this branch into mainline:

 * "git grep CONFIG_GENERIC_GPIO" should return 0 hits. Matches should be
   replaced with CONFIG_GPIOLIB
 * "git grep '\bGENERIC_GPIO\b'" should return 1 hit in the Chinese
   documentation.
 * Selectors of GENERIC_GPIO should be turned into selectors of GPIOLIB
 * definitions of the option in architecture Kconfig code should be deleted.

Stephen has 3 merge fixup patches[1] that do the above. They are currently
applicable on mainline as of May 2nd.

Kent Overstreet 0460fef2a9 aio: use cancellation list lazily
Cancelling kiocbs requires adding them to a per kioctx linked list,
which is one of the few things we need to take the kioctx lock for in
the fast path. But most kiocbs can't be cancelled - so if we just do
this lazily, we can avoid quite a bit of locking overhead.

While we're at it, instead of using a flag bit switch to using ki_cancel
itself to indicate that a kiocb has been cancelled/completed. This lets
us get rid of ki_flags entirely.

Zach Brown a80bf61ef3 gadget: remove only user of aio retry
This removes the only in-tree user of aio retry. This will let us
remove the retry code from the aio core.

Removing retry is relatively easy as the USB gadget wasn't using it to
retry IOs at all. It always fully submitted the IO in the context of
the initial io_submit() call. It only used the AIO retry facility to
get the submitter's mm context for copying the result of a read back to
user space. This is easy to implement with use_mm() and a work struct,
much like kvm does with async_pf_execute() for get_user_pages().

Arnd Bergmann 8097804eab USB: OHCI: avoid conflicting platform drivers
Like the EHCI driver, OHCI supports a large number of different platform
glue drivers by directly including them, which causes problems with
conflicting macro definitions in some cases. As more ARM architecture
specific back-ends are required to coexist in a single build, we should
split those out into separate drivers. Unfortunately, the infrastructure
for that is still under development, so to give us more time, this uses
a separate *_PLATFORM_DRIVER macro for each ARM specific OHCI backend,
just like we already do on PowerPC and some of the other ARM platforms.

In linux-3.10, only the SPEAr and CNS3xxx back-ends would actually conflict
without this patch, but over time we would get more of them, so this
is a way to avoid having to patch the driver every time it breaks. We
should still split out all back-ends into separate loadable modules,
but that work is only needed to improve code size and cleanliness after
this patch, not for correctness.

While we're here, this fixes the incorrectly sorted error path
for the OMAP1 and OMAP3 backends to ensure we always unregister
the exact set of drivers that were registered before erroring out.

Both phy-tegra-usb.c and ehci-tegra.c export symbols used by the other one,

Arnd Bergmann 4623245c76 usb: phy: phy core cannot yet be a module
A lot of platform code calls into the usb phy core at the moment, which
does not work if it is built as a loadable module. This will hopefully
change when those platforms are all converted to DT based probing,

Tormod Volden 671b4b2ba9 usb-storage: CY7C68300A chips do not support Cypress ATACB
Many cards based on CY7C68300A/B/C use the USB ID 04b4:6830 but only the
B and C variants (EZ-USB AT2LP) support the ATA Command Block
functionality, according to the data sheets. The A variant (EZ-USB AT2)
locks up if ATACB is attempted, until a typical 30 seconds timeout runs
out and a USB reset is performed.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428469

It seems that one way to spot a CY7C68300A (at least where the card
manufacturer left Cypress' EEPROM default vaules, against Cypress'
recommendations) is to look at the USB string descriptor indices.

A http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Cypress%20PDFs/CY7C68300A.pdf
B http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/43456.pdf
C http://www.cypress.com/?rID=14189

Note that a CY7C68300B/C chip appears as CY7C68300A if it is running
in Backward Compatibility Mode, and if ATACB would be supported in this
case there is anyway no way to tell which chip it really is.

For 5 years my external USB drive has been locking up for half a minute
when plugged in and ata_id is run by udev, or anytime hdparm or similar
is run on it.

Finally looking at the /correct/ datasheet I think I found the reason. I
am aware the quirk in this patch is a bit hacky, but the hardware
manufacturers haven't made it easy for us.

Here are some late urgent fixes for v3.10 merge window.

All of these errors were introduced by recent commits

f_obex, multi and cdc2 gadget drivers have learned to
return a proper error code when something goes wrong.

usb_bind_phy() was mistakenly placed into .init.text
section which caused Section mismatch warnings and undefined
reference compile errors.

f_source_sink had a copy-paste error which is now corrected.

g_zero got a memory leak plugged.

Two defconfigs got fixed to enable the newly introduced

Hans de Goede 1361bf4b9f usbfs: Always allow ctrl requests with USB_RECIP_ENDPOINT on the ctrl ep
When usbfs receives a ctrl-request from userspace it calls check_ctrlrecip,
which for a request with USB_RECIP_ENDPOINT tries to map this to an interface
to see if this interface is claimed, except for ctrl-requests with a type of
USB_TYPE_VENDOR.

When trying to use this device: http://www.akaipro.com/eiepro
redirected to a Windows vm running on qemu on top of Linux.

The windows driver makes a ctrl-req with USB_TYPE_CLASS and
USB_RECIP_ENDPOINT with index 0, and the mapping of the endpoint (0) to
the interface fails since ep 0 is the ctrl endpoint and thus never is
part of an interface.

This patch fixes this ctrl-req failing by skipping the checkintf call for
USB_RECIP_ENDPOINT ctrl-reqs on the ctrl endpoint.

Here's three cleanup patches for 3.10. Nothing big here, just some debugging

 behavioral effects.

Tested on the Intel Panther Point xHCI host, with USB storage and mouse, with
xHCI debugging turned on. I don't have the TI host that causes the debugging
 output changes to trigger.

Manjunath Goudar 8c68e84f3a USB: EHCI: make ehci-msm a separate driver
Separate the Qualcomm QSD/MSM on-chip host controller driver from
ehci-hcd host code so that it can be built as a separate driver module.
This work is part of enabling multi-platform kernels on ARM;
however, note that other changes are still needed before Qualcomm QSD/MSM
can be booted with a multi-platform kernel, which is not expected before
3.11.

With the infrastructure added by Alan Stern in patch 3e0232039
"USB: EHCI: prepare to make ehci-hcd a library module", we can
avoid this problem by turning a bus glue into a separate
module, as we do here for the msm bus glue.

In V5 (arnd):
 - add FIXME about missing usb_add_hcd() or usb_remove_hcd() calls

In V3:
 - Detailed commit message added here describing why this patch is required.
 - Arranged #include's in alphabetical order.
 - driver.name initialized hcd_name[] = "ehci-msm" in platform_driver
structure initialization instead of "msm-ehci", which was the reason
why it broke in EHCI USB testing

In V2:
Tegra patch related changes removed from this patch.

Manjunath Goudar 9773696105 USB: EHCI: make ehci-atmel a separate driver
Separate the Atmel host controller driver from ehci-hcd host code
so that it can be built as a separate driver module.
This work is part of enabling multi-platform kernels on ARM;
however, note that other changes are still needed before Atmel can be
booted with a multi-platform kernel. This is currently planned for
Linux-3.11.

With the infrastructure added by Alan Stern in patch 3e0232039
"USB: EHCI: prepare to make ehci-hcd a library module", we can
avoid this problem by turning a bus glue into a separate
module, as we do here for the Atmel bus glue.

In V4 (arnd):
 - reordered #include statements.
 - removed call to ehci_shutdown and the corresponding export

In V3:
 - Detailed commit message added here about why this patch is required.
 - Replaced hcd_name string "ehci-atmel" to "atmel-ehci".
 - Inserted blank line in the Makefile to separate the EHCI drivers from
   the following non-EHCI drivers.
 - Exported ehci_shutdown symbol as it is needed by the Atmel driver.
 - Eliminated ehci_atmel_setup routine because hcd registers
can be directly set in the ehci_atmel_drv_probe function.

In V2:
  Resolved below compiler error.

Separate the Samsung S5P/EXYNOS host controller driver from ehci-hcd
host code so that it can be built as a separate driver module.
This work is part of enabling multi-platform kernels on ARM;
however, note that other changes are still needed before S5P/EXYNOS can

avoid this problem by turning a bus glue into a separate
module, as we do here for the s5p bus glue.

In V4 (arnd)
 - revert some of the pointless changes.
 - fix allocation of s5p specific data structure.

In V3:
 - Detailed commit message added here, why this patch is required.
 - MODULE_LICENSE is GPL v2.
 - Added .extra_priv_size to eliminate the separate allocation of
the s5p_ehci_hcd structure and removed .reset function pointer
   initialization.
 - Arranged #include's in alphabetical order.
 - After using extra_priv_size initialization, struct usb_hcd *hcd
is redundant and can be removed from the probe function.
 - Eliminated s5p_ehci_phy_enable,contents of statements moved

 - Eliminated s5p_ehci_phy_disable, contents of statements moved into

 - renamed all 'struct spear_ehci' pointers from 'ehci' to the
   less ambiguous 'sehci'.
 - folded trivial spear_start_ehci/spear_stop_ehci functions into
   callers.
 - brought back initialization of ehci->caps.

In V3:
 - Detailed commit message added here about why this patch is required.
 - Eliminated ehci_spear_setup routine because hcd registers can
be directly set in the spear_ehci_hcd_drv_probe function.
 - spear_overrides struct initialized.
 - Converted to using .extra_priv_size for allocating spear_ehci,
and updated all users of that structure.
 - to_spear_ehci() macro modified for spear_ehci.

In V2:
 - Replaced spear as SPEAr everywhere, leaving functions/variables/config options.

Manjunath Goudar a76dd463c5 USB: EHCI: make ehci-orion a separate driver
Separate the Orion host controller driver from ehci-hcd host
code into its own driver module because of following reason.

With the multiplatform changes in arm-soc tree, it becomes
possible to enable the mvebu platform (which uses
ehci-orion) at the same time as other platforms that require
a conflicting EHCI bus glue. At the moment, this results
in a warning like

drivers/usb/host/ehci-hcd.c:1297:0: warning: "PLATFORM_DRIVER" redefined [enabled by default]
drivers/usb/host/ehci-hcd.c:1277:0: note: this is the location of the previous definition
drivers/usb/host/ehci-orion.c:334:31: warning: 'ehci_orion_driver' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable]

and an ehci driver that only works on one of them.

With the infrastructure added by Alan Stern in patch 3e0232039
"USB: EHCI: prepare to make ehci-hcd a library module", we can
avoid this problem by turning a bus glue into a separate
module, as we do here for the orion bus glue.

An earlier version of this patch was included in 3.9 but caused
a regression there, which has subsequently been fixed.

While we are here, use the opportunity to disabiguate the two
Marvell EHCI controller implementations in Kconfig.

In V4 (arnd):
- Improve Kconfig text

In V3:
- More detail provided in commit message regarding this patch.
- Replaced hcd_name string "ehci-orion" into "orion-ehci".
- MODULE_LICENSE is GPL v2.
- In ehci_init_driver calling second argument passed as NULL instead of
  ehci_orion_overrides because ehci_orion_overrides is removed.

In V2:
- Tegra patch related changes removed from this patch.

There are no functional changes in this patch. However, because the

seemed expedient to include the function name in the debug strings.

Michael Grzeschik a9c174302b usb: chipidea: udc: fix memory access of shared memory on armv5 machines
The udc uses an shared dma memory space between hard and software. This
memory layout is described in ci13xxx_qh and ci13xxx_td which are marked
with the attribute ((packed)).

The compiler currently does not know about the alignment of the memory
layout, and will create strb and ldrb operations.

The Datasheet of the synopsys core describes, that some operations on
the mapped memory need to be atomic double word operations. I.e. the
next pointer addressing in the qhead, as otherwise the hardware will
read wrong data and totally stuck.

This is also possible while working with the current active td queue,
and preparing the td->ptr.next in software while the hardware is still
working with the current active td which is supposed to be changed:

writeb(0xde, &td->ptr.next + 0x0); /* strb */
writeb(0xad, &td->ptr.next + 0x1); /* strb */

<----- hardware reads value of td->ptr.next and get stuck!

writeb(0xbe, &td->ptr.next + 0x2); /* strb */
writeb(0xef, &td->ptr.next + 0x3); /* strb */

This appeares on armv5 machines where the hardware does not support
unaligned 32bit operations.

This patch adds the attribute ((aligned(4))) to the structures to tell
the compiler to use 32bit operations. It also adds an wmb() for the
prepared TD data before it gets enqueued into the qhead.

Christian Engelmayer e6604a7fd7 EHCI: Quirk flag for port power handling on overcurrent.
Commit 756aa6b3d5 (ehci-hub: improved

needed by the MPC8349 USB controller after resolving of the overcurrent
situation in order to have the host state machine assert the correct port
status again.

Commit 81463c1d70 (EHCI: only power off port if
over-current is active) solved a thus resulting issue of endless overcurrent
changes in combination with the MAX4967 USB power supply chip that signals
overcurrent when power is not enabled by only powering off a port if the
overcurrent is currently active.

Added quirks flag need_oc_pp_cycle in order to specify the needed behaviour as
there is no common behaviour that can comply with both requirements.

Andrzej Pietrasiewicz 60540ea2c5 usb: gadget: f_serial: convert to new function interface with backward compatibility
Converting f_serial to the new function interface requires converting
the f_serial's function code and its users.

This patch converts the f_serial.c to the new function interface.

The file is now compiled into a separate usb_f_serial.ko module.
The old function interface is provided by means of preprocessor
conditional directives. After all users are converted, the old interface
can be removed.

Andrzej Pietrasiewicz 4f47a1be0f usb: gadget: use consistent naming scheme for usb function modules
In order to convert to configfs the USB functions need to be converted
to the new interface from Sebastian, which also requires turning them
into separate modules. Some of these modules will consist of just
one object file, e.g. f_ncm.o. But some of the modules will eventually
consist of more than one object file, e.g. for mass storage there
will be f_mass_storage.o and storage_common.o. The resulting module
cannot be called f_mass_storage.ko due to cyclic dependency. This patch
introduces a naming scheme for the said resulting modules:

usb_f_xxxxxx.ko

e.g. usb_f_mass_storage.ko, usb_f_ss_lb.ko, usb_f_rndis.ko etc.

v5…v6
- wired up strings with usb_gstrings_attach()
- add UDC attribe. Write "udc-name" will bind the gadget. Write an empty
string (it should contain \n since 0 bytes write get optimzed away)
will unbind the UDC from the gadget. The name of available UDCs can be
  obtained from /sys/class/udc/

v4…v5
- string rework. This will add a strings folder incl. language code like
    strings/409/manufacturer
  as suggested by Alan.
- rebased ontop reworked functions.c which has usb_function_instance
which is used prior after "mkdir acm.instance" and can be directly
  used for configuration via configfs.

v3…v4
 - moved functions from the root folde down to the gadget as suggested
   by Michał
 - configs have now their own configs folder as suggested by Michał.
The folder is still name.bConfigurationValue where name becomes the
sConfiguration. Is this usefull should we just stilc
   configs/bConfigurationValue/ ?
 - added configfs support to the ACM function. The port_num attribute is
exported by f_acm. An argument has been added to the USB alloc
function to distinguish between "old" (use facm_configure() to
configure and configfs interface (expose a config_node).
The port_num is currently a dumb counter. It will
require some function re-work to make it work.

scheduled for v5:
- sym linking function into config.

v2…v3
- replaced one ifndef by ifdef as suggested by Micahał
- strstr()/strchr() function_make as suggested by Micahł
- replace [iSerialNumber|iProduct|iManufacturer] with
  [sSerialNumber|sProduct|sManufacturer] as suggested by Alan
- added creation of config descriptors

v1…v2
- moved gadgets from configfs' root directory into /udcs/ within our
"usb_gadget" folder. Requested by Andrzej & Michał
- use a dot as a delimiter between function's name and its instance's name
  as suggested by Michał
- renamed all config_item_type, configfs_group_operations, make_group,
drop_item as suggested by suggested by Andrzej to remain consisten
within this file and within other configfs users
- Since configfs.c and functions.c are now part of the udc-core module,
the module itself is now called udc. Also added a tiny ifdef around
init code becuase udc-core is subsys init and this is too early for
configfs in the built-in case. In the module case, we can only have
  one init function.

Sebastian Andrzej Siewior c4ed4ac198 usb: gadget: push tty port allocation from gadget into f_acm
It possible to allocate the tty port number within the "instance"
structure of the function and there is no need to expose this
information within the gadget and therefore it is removed here.
This patch converts only f_acm and all its users. The other gadgets will
follow once the function is converted to the function interface.
