Up until now, the device groups that an IIO device had were limited to 6.
Two of these groups would account for buffer attributes (the buffer/ and
scan_elements/ directories).
Since we want to add multiple buffers per IIO device, this number may not
be enough, when adding a second buffer. So, this change reallocates the
groups array whenever an IIO device group is added, via a
iio_device_register_sysfs_group() helper.
This also means that the groups array should be assigned to
'indio_dev.dev.groups' really late, right before {cdev_}device_add() is
called to do the entire setup.
And we also must take care to free this array when the sysfs resources are
being cleaned up.
With this change we can also move the 'groups' & 'groupcounter' fields to
the iio_dev_opaque object. Up until now, this didn't make a whole lot of
sense (especially since we weren't sure how multibuffer support would look
like in the end).
But doing it now kills one birds with one stone.
An alternative, would be to add a configurable Kconfig symbol
CONFIG_IIO_MAX_BUFFERS_PER_DEVICE (or something like that) and compute a
static maximum of the groups we can support per IIO device. But that would
probably annoy a few people since that would make the system less
configurable.

Oddly enough the noop function is an int-return. This one seems to be void.
This change converts it to int, because we want to change how groups are
registered. With that change this function could error out with -ENOMEM.

We only need a chardev if we need to support buffers and/or events.
With this change, a chardev will be created only if an IIO buffer is
attached OR an event_interface is configured.
Otherwise, no chardev will be created, and the IIO device will get
registered with the 'device_add()' call.
Quite a lot of IIO devices don't really need a chardev, so this is a minor
improvement to the IIO core, as the IIO device will take up (slightly)
fewer resources.
In order to not create a chardev, we mostly just need to not initialize the
indio_dev->dev.devt field. If that is un-initialized, cdev_device_add()
behaves like device_add().
This change has a small chance of breaking some userspace ABI, because it
removes un-needed chardevs. While these chardevs (that are being removed)
have always been unusable, it is likely that some scripts may check their
existence (for whatever logic).
And we also hope that before opening these chardevs, userspace would have
already checked for some pre-conditions to make sure that opening these
chardevs makes sense.
For the most part, there is also the hope that it would be easier to change
userspace code than revert this. But in the case that reverting this is
required, it should be easy enough to do it.

This change does a conversion of the devm_iio_dmaengine_buffer_alloc() to
devm_iio_dmaengine_buffer_setup(). This will allocate an IIO DMA buffer and
attach it to the IIO device, similar to devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup()
(though the underlying code is different, the final logic is the same).
Since the only user of the devm_iio_dmaengine_buffer_alloc() was the
adi-axi-adc driver, this change does the replacement in a single go in the
driver.

At this point all drivers should use devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() instead
of manually allocating via devm_iio_kfifo_allocate() and assigning ops and
modes.
With this change, the devm_iio_kfifo_allocate() will be made private to the
IIO core, since all drivers should call either
devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() or devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup() to
create a kfifo buffer.

This change makes use of the devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() helper, however
the unwind order is changed.
The life-time of the kfifo object is attached to the parent device object.
This is to make the driver a bit more consistent with the other IIO
drivers, even though (as it is now before this change) it shouldn't be a
problem.

All drivers that already call devm_iio_kfifo_allocate() &
iio_device_attach_buffer() are simple to convert to
iio_device_attach_kfifo_buffer() in a single go.
This change does that; the unwind order is preserved.
What is important, is that the devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() be called
after the indio_dev->modes is assigned, to make sure that
INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE flag is set and not overridden by the assignment to
indio_dev->modes.
Also, the INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE has been removed from the assignments of
'indio_dev->modes' because it is set by devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup().

This change adds the devm_iio_kfifo_buffer_setup() helper/short-hand,
which groups the simple routine of allocating a kfifo buffers via
devm_iio_kfifo_allocate() and calling iio_device_attach_buffer().
The mode_flags parameter is required, as the IIO kfifo supports 2 modes:
INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE & INDIO_BUFFER_TRIGGERED.
The setup_ops parameter is optional.
This function will be a bit more useful when needing to define multiple
buffers per IIO device.
The naming for this function has been inspired from
iio_triggered_buffer_setup() since that one does a kfifo alloc + a pollfunc
alloc. So, this should have a more familiar ring to what it is.

In the past there have been some issues with the implementation of the

Introduce a basic unit test based on kunit that tests the function and

For non-DMA usage, we have an easy way to associate a timestamp with a
sample: iio_pollfunc_store_time stores a timestamp in the primary
trigger IRQ handler and stm32_adc_trigger_handler runs in the IRQ thread
to push out the buffer along with the timestamp.
For this to work, the driver needs to register an IIO_TIMESTAMP channel.
Do this.
For DMA, it's not as easy, because we don't push the buffers out of
stm32_adc_trigger, but out of stm32_adc_dma_buffer_done, which runs in
a tasklet scheduled after a DMA completion.
Preferably, the DMA controller would copy us the timestamp into that buffer
as well. Until this is implemented, restrict timestamping support to
only PIO. For low-frequency sampling, PIO is probably good enough.

Currently, only the 112bit PROM with 7 words is supported. However the ms58xx
family also have devices with a 128bit PROM on 8 words. See AN520:
C-CODE EXAMPLE FOR MS56XX, MS57XX (EXCEPT ANALOG SENSOR), AND MS58XX SERIES
PRESSURE SENSORS and the various device datasheets.
The difference is that the CRC is the 4 LSBs of word7 instead of being the
4 MSBs of word0.

The CRC calculation always happens on 8 words which is why there is an
extra element in the prom array of struct ms_tp_dev. However, on ms5637 and
similar, only 7 words are readable.
Then, set MS_SENSORS_TP_PROM_WORDS_NB to 8 and stop passing a len parameter
to ms_sensors_tp_crc_valid as this simply hide the fact that it is
hardcoded.
Finally, use the newly introduced hw->prom_len to know how many words can be
read.

This adds an IIO magnetometer driver for the Yamaha
YAS530 family of magnetometer/compass chips YAS530,
YAS532 and YAS533.
A quick survey of the source code released by different
vendors reveal that we have these variants in the family
with some deployments listed:
* YAS529 MS-3C (2005 Samsung Aries)
* YAS530 MS-3E (2011 Samsung Galaxy S Advance)
* YAS532 MS-3R (2011 Samsung Galaxy S4)
* YAS533 MS-3F (Vivo 1633, 1707, V3, Y21L)
* (YAS534 is a magnetic switch)
* YAS535 MS-6C
* YAS536 MS-3W
* YAS537 MS-3T (2015 Samsung Galaxy S6, Note 5)
* YAS539 MS-3S (2018 Samsung Galaxy A7 SM-A750FN)
The YAS529 is so significantly different from the
YAS53x variants that it will require its own driver.
The YAS537 and YAS539 have slightly different register
sets but have strong similarities so a common driver
patching this one will probably be reasonable.
The source code for Samsung Galaxy A7's YAS539 is not
that is significantly different from the YAS530 in the
Galaxy S Advance, so I believe we will only need this
one driver with quirks to handle all of them.
The YAS539 is actively announced on Yamaha's devices
site:
https://device.yamaha.com/en/lsi/products/e_compass/
This is a driver written from scratch using buffered
IIO and runtime PM handling regulators and reset.

The iio-core extends the attr_group provided by the driver with its
own attributes. To be able to do this it:
1. Has its own (non const) io_dev_opaque.chan_attr_group attr_group struct
2. It allocates a new attrs array with room for both the drivers and its
own attributes
3. It copies over the driver provided attributes into the newly allocated
attrs array.
But the drivers attr_group may contain more then just the attrs array, it
may also contain an is_visible callback and at least the adi-axi-adc.c
is currently defining such a callback.
Change the attr_group copying code to also copy over the is_visible
callback, so that drivers can define one and have it workins as is
normal for attr_group-s all over the kernel.
Note that the is_visible callback takes an index into the array as
argument, so that indices of the driver's attributes must not change,
this is not a problem as the driver's own attributes are added first
to the newly allocated attrs array and the attributes handled by the
core are appended after the driver's attributes.

The xilinx-xadc IIO driver currently has support for the XADC in the Xilinx
7 series FPGAs. The system-monitor is the equivalent to the XADC in the
Xilinx UltraScale and UltraScale+ FPGAs.
The IP designers did a good job at maintaining backwards compatibility and
only minor changes are required to add basic support for the system-monitor
core.
The non backwards compatible changes are:
* Register map offset was moved from 0x200 to 0x400
* Only one ADC compared to two in the XADC
* 10 bit ADC instead of 12 bit ADC
* Two of the channels monitor different supplies
Add the necessary logic to accommodate these changes to support the
system-monitor in the XADC driver.
Note that this patch does not include support for some new features found
in the system-monitor like additional alarms, user supply monitoring and
secondary system-monitor access. This might be added at a later time.

Mark the IIO sysfs-trigger irq_work with IRQ_WORK_HARD_IRQ to ensure that
it is always executed in hard interrupt context, even with PREEMPT_RT=y.
The IIO sysfs-trigger irq_work needs to run in hard interrupt context since
it will end up calling generic_handle_irq() which has the requirement to
run in hard interrupt context.
Note that the IRQ_WORK_HARD_IRQ flag, while it exists, does not seem to do
anything in the mainline kernel yet. It does have an effect in the RT

Some BOSC0200 acpi_device-s describe two accelerometers in a single ACPI
device. Normally we would handle this by letting the special
drivers/platform/x86/i2c-multi-instantiate.c driver handle the BOSC0200
ACPI id and let it instantiate 2 bmc150_accel type i2c_client-s for us.
But doing so changes the modalias for the first accelerometer
(which is already supported and used on many devices) from
acpi:BOSC0200 to i2c:bmc150_accel. The modalias is not only used
to load the driver, but is also used by hwdb matches in
/lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-sensor.hwdb which provide a mountmatrix to
userspace by setting the ACCEL_MOUNT_MATRIX udev property.
Switching the handling of the BOSC0200 over to i2c-multi-instantiate.c
will break the hwdb matches causing the ACCEL_MOUNT_MATRIX udev prop
to no longer be set. So switching over to i2c-multi-instantiate.c is
not an option.

Inspired by Andy Shevchenko's proposal to use get_unaligned_leXX().
The whole one time programable memory is treated as a single 64bit
little endian value. Thus we can avoid a lot of messy handling
of fields overlapping byte boundaries by just loading and manipulating
it as an __le64 converted to a u64. That lets us just use FIELD_GET()
and GENMASK() to extract the values desired.
Note only build tested. We need to use GENMASK_ULL and %llX formatters
to account for the larger types used in computing the various fields.

One of a class of bugs pointed out by Lars in a recent review.
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() assumes the buffer used is aligned
to the size of the timestamp (8 bytes). This is not guaranteed in
this driver which uses an array of smaller elements on the stack.
As Lars also noted this anti pattern can involve a leak of data to
userspace and that indeed can happen here. We close both issues by
moving to a suitable structure in the iio_priv() data with alignment
explicitly requested. This data is allocated with kzalloc() so no
data can leak apart from previous readings.
In this driver the timestamp can end up in various different locations
depending on what other channels are enabled. As a result, we don't
use a structure to specify it's position as that would be misleading.

Whilst this is another case of the issue Lars reported with
an array of elements of smaller than 8 bytes being passed
to iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp(), the solution here is
a bit different from the other cases and relies on __aligned
working on the stack (true since 4.6?)
This one is unusual. We have to do an explicit memset() each time
as we are reading 3 bytes into a potential 4 byte channel which
may sometimes be a 2 byte channel depending on what is enabled.
As such, moving the buffer to the heap in the iio_priv structure
doesn't save us much. We can't use a nice explicit structure
on the stack either as the data channels have different storage
sizes and are all separately controlled.

The original reason for this behaviour is long gone and no current
drivers are making use of this function correctly. Note however, that
you would be very unlucky to actually hit the problem as it would
require a bus comms failure in the callback.
This dates back a long way. The original board on which I did a lot
of early IIO development only supported edge interrupts, but some of the
sensors were level interrupt based. As such, the lis3l02dq driver did
a dance with checking a GPIO to identify if it should retrigger.
That was an unsustainable hack so we later just stopped supporting interrupts
for that particular combination.
There are a number of drivers where a fault on a bus read in the
try_reenable() callback will result in them returning non 0 and
incorrectly then causing iio_trigger_poll() to be called.
Anyhow, this handling is unused and causing issues so let us rip it out.

Move the possible resolution values back to the driver. This removes the
atmel,adc-res and atmel,adc-res-names properties, leaving only
atmel,adc-use-res. As atmel,adc-res-names had to contain "lowres" and
"highres", those where already the only allowed values for
atmel,adc-use-res.
Also introduce a new compatible string for the sama5d3 as this is the only
one with a different resolution. Also it doesn't even have the LOWRES

When updating the buffer demux, we will skip a scan element from the
device in the case `in_ind != out_ind` and we enter the while loop.
in_ind should only be refreshed with `find_next_bit()` in the end of the
loop.
Note, to cause problems we need a situation where we are skippig over
an element (channel not enabled) that happens to not have the same size
as the next element. Whilst this is a possible situation we haven't
actually identified any cases in mainline where it happens as most drivers
have consistent channel storage sizes with the exception of the timestamp
which is the last element and hence never skipped over.

The iio_format_avail_list() and iio_format_avail_range() functions are
almost identical. The only differences are that iio_format_avail_range()
expects a fixed amount of items and adds brackets "[ ]" around the output.
Refactor them into a common helper function. This improves the
maintainability of the code as it makes it easier to modify the
implementation of these functions.

The driver should assert reset by setting the gpio high, and
then release it by setting it the gpio low. This allows the
device tree (or other hardware definition) to specify how the
gpio is configured.

Use a heap allocated memory for the SPI transfer buffer. Using stack memory
can corrupt stack memory when using DMA on some systems.
This change moves the buffer from the stack of the trigger handler call to
the heap of the buffer of the state struct. The size increases takes into
account the alignment for the timestamp, which is 8 bytes.
The 'data' buffer is split into 'tx_buf' and 'rx_buf', to make a clearer
separation of which part of the buffer should be used for TX & RX.

'st->ext_ref' & 'st->reg' are both non-zero/non-null at the same time, so
logically the code isn't broken.
But it is more correct to check that 'st->reg' is non-null, since we make

This change converts the probe of this driver to use device-managed
register functions, and a devm_add_action_or_reset() for the regulator
disable.
With this, the exit & error paths can be removed.
Another side-effect is that this should avoid some static-analyzer's check
with respect to a potential null dereference of the regulator. The null
dereference isn't likely to happen (under normal operation), so there isn't
a requirement to have this fixed/backported in other releases.
As a note: this is removing spi_set_drvdata() since there is no other
spi_get_drvdata() (or dev_get_drvdata()) call that need it.

It seems that when this was tested the happy case was more tested. A few of
the userspace apps rely on this returning negative error codes in case an
ioctl() is not available.
When running multiple ioctl() handlers or when calling an ioctl() that
doesn't exist, IIO_IOCTL_UNHANDLED is returned. In that case -EINVAL should
be returned.

This change adds a parameter to the {devm_}iio_triggered_buffer_setup()
functions to assign the extra sysfs buffer attributes that are typically
assigned via iio_buffer_set_attrs().
The functions also get renamed to iio_triggered_buffer_setup_ext() &
devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup_ext().
For backwards compatibility the old {devm_}iio_triggered_buffer_setup()
functions are now macros wrap the new (renamed) functions with NULL for the
buffer attrs.
The aim is to remove iio_buffer_set_attrs(), so in the
iio_triggered_buffer_setup_ext() function the attributes are assigned
directly to 'buffer->attrs'.
When adding multiple IIO buffers per IIO device, it can be pretty
cumbersome to first allocate a set of buffers, then to dig them out of IIO
to assign extra attributes (with iio_buffer_set_attrs()).
Naturally, the best way would be to provide them at allocation time, which
is what this change does.
At this moment, buffers allocated with {devm_}iio_triggered_buffer_setup()
are the only ones in mainline IIO to call iio_buffer_set_attrs().

Some 360 degree hinges (yoga) style 2-in-1 devices use 2 KXCJ91008-s
to allow the OS to determine the angle between the display and the base
of the device, so that the OS can determine if the 2-in-1 is in laptop
or in tablet-mode.
On Windows both accelerometers are read by a special HingeAngleService
process; and this process calls a DSM (Device Specific Method) on the
ACPI KIOX010A device node for the sensor in the display, to let the
embedded-controller (EC) know about the mode so that it can disable the
kbd and touchpad to avoid spurious input while folded into tablet-mode.
This notifying of the EC is problematic because sometimes the EC comes up
thinking that device is in tablet-mode and the kbd and touchpad do not
work. This happens for example on Irbis NB111 devices after a suspend /
resume cycle (after a complete battery drain / hard reset without having
booted Windows at least once). Other 2-in-1s which are likely affected
too are e.g. the Teclast F5 and F6 series.
The kxcjk-1013 driver may seem like a strange place to deal with this,
but since it is *the* driver for the ACPI KIOX010A device, it is also
the driver which has access to the ACPI handle needed by the DSM.
Add support for calling the DSM and on probe unconditionally tell the
EC that the device is laptop mode, fixing the kbd and touchpad sometimes
not working.

The aim of this is to improve a bit the organization of ioctl() calls in
IIO core. Currently the chardev is split across IIO core sub-modules/files.
The main chardev has to be able to handle ioctl() calls, and if we need to
add buffer ioctl() calls, this would complicate things.
The 'industrialio-core.c' file will provide a 'iio_device_ioctl()' which
will iterate over a list of ioctls registered with the IIO device. These
can be event ioctl() or buffer ioctl() calls, or something else.
Each ioctl() handler will have to return a IIO_IOCTL_UNHANDLED code (which
is positive 1), if the ioctl() did not handle the call in any. This
eliminates any potential ambiguities about negative error codes, which
should fail the call altogether.
If any ioctl() returns 0, it was considered that it was serviced
successfully and the loop will exit.
This change also moves the handling of the IIO_GET_EVENT_FD_IOCTL command
inside 'industrialio-event.c', where this is better suited.

When the command feature of the ADC is used, it is possible to program
the ADC, and specify at each step what input should be processed, and in
comparison to what reference.
This broke the AUX and battery readings when the touchscreen was
enabled, most likely because the CMD feature would change the VREF all
the time.
Now, when AUX or battery are read, we temporarily disable the CMD
feature, which means that we won't get touchscreen readings in that time
frame. But it now gives correct values for AUX / battery, and the
touchscreen isn't disabled for long enough to be an actual issue.

Since overrun interrupt support has been added, there's a regression when
two ADCs are used at the same time, with:
- an ADC configured to use IRQs. EOCIE bit is set. The handler is normally
called in this case.
- an ADC configured to use DMA. EOCIE bit isn't set. EOC triggers the DMA
request. It's then automatically cleared by DMA read. But the handler
gets called due to status bit is temporarily set (IRQ triggered by the
other ADC).
This is a regression as similar issue had been fixed earlier by
commit dcb1092017 ("iio: adc: stm32-adc:
fix a race when using several adcs with dma and irq").
Issue is that stm32_adc_eoc_enabled() returns non-zero value (always)
since OVR bit has been added and enabled for both DMA and IRQ case.
Remove OVR mask in IER register, and rely only on CSR status for overrun.
To avoid subsequent calls to interrupt routine on overrun, CSR OVR bit has
to be cleared. CSR OVR bit cannot be cleared directly by software.
To do this ADC must be stopped first, and OVR bit in ADC ISR has
to be cleared.
Also add a check in ADC IRQ handler to report spurious IRQs.

This change removes the old platform data for ad7298. It is only used to
provide whether to use an external regulator as a reference.
So, the logic is inverted a bit. The driver now tries to obtain a

Add support for setting the hysteresis as a shifted value of a channel's
proximity threshold. Each channel can have a different threshold, but
the hysteresis applies to all channels as a right shift factor.
Therefore, duplicate the hysteresis value across all channels and make
it depend on the channel's proximity threshold. This is sort of odd but
seems to work in practice as most of the time only one channel is used.

1 warning generated.
This warning has appeared after the AT91_ADC driver compilation has been
enabled via the COMPILE_TEST symbol dependency.
The warning is caused by the 'of_match_ptr()' helper which returns NULL if
OF is undefined. This driver should build only for device-tree context, so
a dependency on the OF Kconfig symbol has been added.
Also, the usage of of_match_ptr() helper has been removed since it
shouldn't ever return NULL (because the driver should not be built for the
non-OF context).

The main intent is to get rid of the cast for the void-pointer returned by
of_device_get_match_data().
This requires const-ifying the 'caps' and 'registers' references on the
at91_adc_state struct.
The caps can be obtained also from the old platform_data (in the
at91_adc_probe_pdata() function), but that cast is not touched in this
patch, since the old platform_data should be removed/cleaned-away.
Also, that cast deals with converting a kernel_ulong_t type to a pointer.
So, updating that cast doesn't yield any benefit.

When the ADC is runtime suspended and starting a conversion, the stm32-adc
driver calls pm_runtime_get_sync() that gets cascaded to the parent
(e.g. runtime resume of stm32-adc-core driver). This also kicks the
autosuspend delay (e.g. 2s) of the parent.
Once the ADC is active, calling pm_runtime_get_sync() again (upon a new
capture) won't kick the autosuspend delay for the parent (stm32-adc-core
driver) as already active.
Currently, this makes the stm32-adc-core driver go in suspend state
every 2s when doing slow polling. As an example, doing a capture, e.g.
cat in_voltageY_raw at a 0.2s rate, the auto suspend delay for the parent
isn't refreshed. Once it expires, the parent immediately falls into
runtime suspended state, in between two captures, as soon as the child
driver falls into runtime suspend state:
- e.g. after 2s, + child calls pm_runtime_put_autosuspend() + 100ms
autosuspend delay of the child.
- stm32-adc-core switches off regulators, clocks and so on.
- They get switched on back again 100ms later in this example (at 2.2s).
So, use runtime_idle() callback in stm32-adc-core driver to call
pm_runtime_mark_last_busy() for the parent driver (stm32-adc-core),
to avoid this.

For some embedded systems, a workflow involving external kernel modules
that implement IIO devices is more practical than working with in-tree

Kconfig symbols without any titles do not show up in menuconfig, and as
such are more difficult to configure granularly, as they need to be
selected by potentially unused/un-needed drivers.

For some embedded systems, a workflow involving external kernel modules
that implement IIO devices is more practical than working with in-tree
sources.
Kconfig symbols without any titles do not show up in menuconfig, and as
such are more difficult to configure granularly, as they need to be
selected by potentially unused/un-needed drivers.
Albeit, the IIO_TRIGGERED_EVENT is used by a single mainline driver, this
could allow for some out-of-tree drivers to use this kmod.
This change adds a title to the IIO_TRIGGERED_EVENT Kconfig symbol.

The intent here is to minimize the use of iio_buffer_set_attrs(). Since we
are planning to add support for multiple IIO buffers per IIO device, the
issue has to do with:
1. Accessing 'indio_dev->buffer' directly (as is done with
'iio_buffer_set_attrs(indio_dev->buffer, <attrs>)').
2. The way that the buffer attributes would get handled or expanded when
there are more buffers per IIO device. Current a sysfs kobj_type expands
into a 'device' object that expands into an 'iio_dev' object.
We will need to change this, so that the sysfs attributes for IIO
buffers expand into IIO buffers at some point.
Right now, the current IIO framework works fine for the
'1 IIO device == 1 IIO buffer' case (that is now).

The AD9265 is a 16-bit, 125 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The
AD9265 is designed to support communications applications where high
performance combined with low cost, small size, and versatility is
desired.
The ADC core features a multistage, differential pipelined architecture
with integrated output error correction logic to provide 16-bit accuracy at
125 MSPS data rates and guarantees no missing codes over the full operating
temperature range.
The ADC features a wide bandwidth differential sample-and-hold analog input
amplifier supporting a variety of user-selectable input ranges. It is
suitable for multiplexed systems that switch full-scale voltage levels in
successive channels and for sampling single-channel inputs at frequencies
well beyond the Nyquist rate. Combined with power and cost savings over
previously available ADCs, the AD9265 is suitable for applications in
communications, instrumentation and medical imaging.

The AD9434 is a 12-bit monolithic sampling analog-to-digital converter
(ADC) optimized for high performance, low power, and ease of use. The part
operates at up to a 500 MSPS conversion rate and is optimized for
outstanding dynamic performance in wideband carrier and broadband systems.
All necessary functions, including a sample-and-hold and voltage reference,
are included on the chip to provide a complete signal conversion solution.
The VREF pin can be used to monitor the internal reference or provide an
external voltage reference (external reference mode must be enabled through
the SPI port).
The ADC requires a 1.8 V analog voltage supply and a differential clock
for full performance operation. The digital outputs are LVDS (ANSI-644)
compatible and support twos complement, offset binary format, or Gray code.
A data clock output is available for proper output data timing.

There are 2 chip constants that can be added to the chip-info part. The
default output-mode and the VREF mask.
When adding new chips to this driver, these can be easily omitted, because
these also need to be updated in 2 switch statements.
However, if adding them in the chip-info constants, they are updated in a
single place and propagated in both switch statements.

Though we know that the iio_device_unregister_eventset() call is followed
by the free-ing of the IIO device object, we should not make this
assumption in the iio_device_unregister_eventset() function. It should
allow for the clean unregistering of the event-set, allowing a re-register
should we decide to implement this at some point later.

We should not be assuming that we are reading a sequence of

This case is a bit different to the rest of the series. The driver
was doing a regmap_bulk_read into a buffer that wasn't dma safe
as it was on the stack with no guarantee of it being in a cacheline
on it's own. Fixing that also dealt with the data leak and
alignment issues that Lars-Peter pointed out.
Also removed some unaligned handling as we are now aligned.
Fixes tag is for the dma safe buffer issue. Potentially we would
need to backport timestamp alignment futher but that is a totally
different patch.

One of a class of bugs pointed out by Lars in a recent review.
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp assumes the buffer used is aligned
to the size of the timestamp (8 bytes). This is not guaranteed in
this driver which uses an array of smaller elements on the stack.
We move to a suitable structure in the iio_priv() data with alignment
explicitly requested. This data is allocated with kzalloc so no
data can leak apart from previous readings. Note that previously
no leak at all could occur, but previous readings should never
be a problem.
In this case the timestamp location depends on what other channels
are enabled. As such we can't use a structure without misleading
by suggesting only one possible timestamp location.

but I don't think it is an issue to potentially leak them like
this now does.
In this case the postioning of the timestamp is depends on what
other channels are enabled. As such we cannot use a structure to
make the alignment explicit as it would be missleading by suggesting
only one possible location for the timestamp.

One of a class of bugs pointed out by Lars in a recent review.
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp assumes the buffer used is aligned
to the size of the timestamp (8 bytes). This is not guaranteed in
this driver which uses an array of smaller elements on the stack.
As Lars also noted this anti pattern can involve a leak of data to
userspace and that indeed can happen here. We close both issues by
moving to an array of suitable structures in the iio_priv() data.
This data is allocated with kzalloc so no data can leak apart from
previous readings.
For the tagged path the data is aligned by using __aligned(8) for
the buffer on the stack.
There has been a lot of churn in this driver, so likely backports
may be needed for stable.

iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp assumes the buffer used is aligned

As Lars also noted this anti pattern can involve a leak of data to

moving to a suitable array in the iio_priv() data with alignment
explicitly requested. This data is allocated with kzalloc so no
data can leak appart from previous readings.
Depending on the enabled channels, the location of the timestamp
can be at various aligned offsets through the buffer. As such we
any use of a structure to enforce this alignment would incorrectly
suggest a single location for the timestamp. Comments adjusted to
express this clearly in the code.

iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp assumes the buffer used is aligned
to the size of the timestamp (8 bytes). This is not guaranteed in
this driver which uses a 16 byte array of smaller elements on the stack.
This is fixed by using an explicit c structure. As there are no
holes in the structure, there is no possiblity of data leakage
in this case.
The explicit alignment of ts is not strictly necessary but potentially
makes the code slightly less fragile. It also removes the possibility
of this being cut and paste into another driver where the alignment
isn't already true.

Scaling factor values for Acc lead to an unacceptable rounding of the
full scale (FS) calculated by some SensorHAL on Android devices. For examples
setting FS to 4g the in_accel_x_scale, in_accel_y_scale and in_accel_z_scale
are 0.001196 on 6 decimal digits and the FS is
0.001196 × ((2^15) − 1) ~= 39.1893 m/s^2.
Android CTS R10 SensorParameterRangeTest test expects a value greater than
39.20 m/s^2 so this test fails (ACCELEROMETER_MAX_RANGE = 4 * 9.80).
Using 9 decimal digits the new scale factor is 0.001196411 and the FS now
is 0.001196411 × ((2^15)−1) ~= 39.2028 m/s^2.
This patch extends to IIO_VAL_INT_PLUS_NANO type the scaling factor to all
IMU devices where SensorParameterRangeTest CTS test fails.

Add burst mode variables in the per device specific data structure. As
some drivers support multiple devices with different burst sizes it
makes sense this data to be in `adis_data`. While moving the variables,
there are two main differences:
1. The `en`variable is dropped. If a device supports burst mode, it will
just use it as it will has better performance for almost all real use
cases.
2. Replace `extra_len` by `burst_len`. Users should now explicitly
define the length of the burst buffer as it is typically constant. This
also allows to remove the following line from the library:
```
/* All but the timestamp channel */
burst_length = (indio_dev->num_channels - 1) * sizeof(u16);
```
The library should not assume that a timestamp channel is defined.
Moreover, most parts also include some diagnostic data, crc, etc.. in
the burst buffer that needed to be included in an `extra_len` variable
which is not that nice. On top of this, some devices already start to
have some 32bit size channels ...
This patch is also a move to completely drop the `struct adis_burst`
from the library.

it with a local lock, to protect against any other accesses during the
