ceph_listxattr() incorrectly returns a length based on the static
ceph_vxattrs_name_size() value, which only takes into account whether
vxattrs are hidden, ignoring vxattr.exists_cb().
When filling the xattr buffer ceph_listxattr() checks VXATTR_FLAG_HIDDEN
and vxattr.exists_cb(). If both are false, we return an incorrect
(oversize) length.
Fix this behaviour by always calculating the vxattrs length at runtime,
taking both vxattr.hidden and vxattr.exists_cb() into account.
This bug is only exposed with the new "ceph.snap.btime" vxattr, as all
other vxattrs with a non-null exists_cb also carry VXATTR_FLAG_HIDDEN.

The problem is that if ceph_mdsc_build_path() fails then we set "path"
to NULL and the "pathlen" variable is uninitialized. Then we call
ceph_mdsc_free_path(path, pathlen) to clean up. Since "path" is NULL,
the function is a no-op but Smatch and UBSan still complain that
"pathlen" is uninitialized.
This patch doesn't change run time, it just silence the warnings.

When calling debugfs functions, there is no need to ever check the
return value. The function can work or not, but the code logic should
never do something different based on this.
This cleanup allows the return value of the functions to be made void,
as no logic should care if these files succeed or not.

When ceph_mdsc_build_path is handed a positive dentry, it will return a
zero-length path string with the base set to that dentry. This is not
what we want. Always include at least one path component in the string.
ceph_mdsc_build_path has behaved this way for a long time but it didn't
matter until recent d_name handling rework.

We want to enable cross-filesystem copy_file_range functionality
where possible, so push the "same superblock only" checks down to
the individual filesystem callouts so they can make their own
decisions about cross-superblock copy offload and fallack to
generic_copy_file_range() for cross-superblock copy.
[Amir] We do not call ->remap_file_range() in case the files are not
on the same sb and do not call ->copy_file_range() in case the files
do not belong to the same filesystem driver.
This changes behavior of the copy_file_range(2) syscall, which will
now allow cross filesystem in-kernel copy. CIFS already supports
cross-superblock copy, between two shares to the same server. This
functionality will now be available via the copy_file_range(2) syscall.

Now that we have generic_copy_file_range(), remove it as a fallback
case when offloads fail. This puts the responsibility for executing
fallbacks on the filesystems that implement ->copy_file_range and
allows us to add operational validity checks to
generic_copy_file_range().
Rework vfs_copy_file_range() to call a new do_copy_file_range()
helper to execute the copying callout, and move calls to
generic_file_copy_range() into filesystem methods where they
currently return failures.
[Amir] overlayfs is not responsible of executing the fallback.
It is the responsibility of the underlying filesystem.

In above example, truncate_inode_pages_range() waits for readahead pages
while holding s_mutex. ceph_check_caps() waits for s_mutex and blocks
OSD dispatch thread. Later OSD replies (for readahead) can't be handled.
ceph_check_caps() also may lock snap_rwsem for read. So similar deadlock
can happen if iput_final() is called while holding snap_rwsem.
In general, it's not good to call iput_final() inside MDS/OSD dispatch
threads or while holding any mutex.
The fix is introducing ceph_async_iput(), which calls iput_final() in
workqueue.

a kernel developer for more than two years now. During this time I've
been fixing bugs reported by Coverity all over the tree and, as part
of my work, I'm also contributing to the KSPP. My work in the kernel
community has been supervised by Greg KH and Kees Cook.

patches that mark switch cases where we are expecting to fall through.
These patches are part of the ongoing efforts to enable -Wimplicit-fallthrough.
They have been ignored for a long time (most of them more than 3 months,
even after pinging multiple times), which is the reason why I've created
this tree. Most of them have been baking in linux-next for a whole development
cycle. And with Stephen Rothwell's help, we've had linux-next nag-emails
going out for newly introduced code that triggers -Wimplicit-fallthrough
to avoid gaining more of these cases while we work to remove the ones
that are already present.
I'm happy to let you know that we are getting close to completing this
work. Currently, there are only 32 of 2311 of these cases left to be
addressed in linux-next. I'm auditing every case; I take a look into
the code and analyze it in order to determine if I'm dealing with an

xfstest generic/452 was triggering a "Busy inodes after umount" warning.
ceph was allowing the mount to go read-only without first flushing out
dirty inodes in the cache. Ensure we sync out the filesystem before
allowing a remount to proceed.

GCC9 is throwing a lot of warnings about unaligned accesses by
callers of ceph_pr_addr. All of the current callers are passing a
pointer to the sockaddr inside struct ceph_entity_addr.
Fix it to take a pointer to a struct ceph_entity_addr instead,
and then have the function make a copy of the sockaddr before
printing it.

I originally thought there was a potential race here, but the fact
that this is called with the mdsc->mutex held, ensures that the
last reference to the session can't be put here.
Still, it's clearer to just return the value from get_session here,
and may prevent a bug later if we ever rework this code to be less
reliant on mutexes.

The return of this function is rather complex. It can return 0 or 1,
and in the case of a 1 return, the "err" pointer will be filled out.
This necessitates a lot of copying of values.
We can achieve the same effect by just returning 0, 1 or a negative
error code, and drop the "err" argument from this function.

Nothing calls ceph_mdsc_submit_request today, but in later patches we'll
need to be able to call this separately.
Have the helper return an int so we can check the r_err under the mutex,
and have the caller just check the error code from the submit. Also move
the acquisition of CEPH_CAP_PIN references into the same function.

No MDS requests use r_callback today, but that will change in the
future. The OSD client always does r_callback and then completes
r_completion. Let's have the MDS client do the same.

We make copies of the dentry name in set_request_path_attr, but then
create_request_message re-fetches the lengths out of the dentry. While
we don't currently set the *_drop fields unless the parents are locked,
it's still better not to rely on that sort of implicit assumption.
Use the pathlen values that set_request_path_attr returned instead, as
they will always be correct for the returned paths themselves.

Al suggested we get rid of the kmalloc here and just use __getname
and __putname to get a full PATH_MAX pathname buffer.
Since we build the path in reverse, we continue to return a pointer
to the beginning of the string and the length, and add a new helper
to free the thing at the end.

While it may be slightly more efficient, it's probably not worthwhile to
optimize for the case that clone_dentry_name handles. We can get the
same result by just calling ceph_mdsc_build_path when the parent isn't
locked, with less code duplication.

cephfs can benefit from statx. We can have the client just request caps
sufficient for the needed attributes and leave off the rest.
Also, recognize when AT_STATX_DONT_SYNC is set, and just scrape the
inode without doing any call in that case. Force a call to the MDS in
the event that AT_STATX_FORCE_SYNC is set.

Originally, filemap_write_and_wait took the i_mutex internally, but
commit 02c24a8218 pushed the mutex acquisition into the individual
fsync routines, leaving it up to the subsystem maintainers to remove
it if it wasn't needed.
For ceph, I see no reason to take the inode_lock here. All of the
operations inside that lock are protected by their own locking.

To support snapshot nfs re-export, we need a way to lookup snapped
inode by file handle. For directory inode, snapped metadata are always
stored together with head inode. Client just need to pass vinodeno_t
to MDS. For non-directory inode, there can be multiple version of
snapped inodes and they can be stored in different dirfrags. Besides
vinodeno_t, client also need to tell mds from which dirfrag it got the
snapped inode.
Another problem of supporting snapshot nfs re-export is that there
can be multiple paths to access a snapped inode. For example:
mkdir -p d1/d2/d3
mkdir d1/.snap/s1
Paths 'd1/.snap/s1/d2/d3', 'd1/d2/.snap/_s1_<inode number of d1>/d3'
and 'd1/d2/d3/.snap/_s1_<inode number of d1>' are all reference to the
same snapped inode. For a given snapped inode, There is no convenient
way to get the first form and the second form paths. For simplicity,
ceph_get_parent() return snapdir for snapped directory inode.
Furthermore, client may access snapshot of deleted directory. For
example:
mkdir -p d1/d2
mkdir d1/.snap/s1
open d1/.snap/s1/d2
rm -rf d1/d2
<nfs server restart>
The path constucted by ceph_get_parent() and ceph_get_name() is
'<inode of d2>/.snap/_s1_<inode number of d1>'. Futher lookup parent
of <inode of d2> will fail. To workaround this case, this patch uses
d_obtain_root() to get dentry for snapdir of deleted directory.
snapdir dentry has no DCACHE_DISCONNECTED flag set, reconnect_path()
stops when it reaches snapdir dentry.

The CephFS kernel client does not enforce quotas set in a directory that
isn't visible from the mount point. For example, given the path
'/dir1/dir2', if quotas are set in 'dir1' and the filesystem is mounted with
mount -t ceph <server>:<port>:/dir1/ /mnt
then the client won't be able to access 'dir1' inode, even if 'dir2' belongs
to a quota realm that points to it.
This patch fixes this issue by simply doing an MDS LOOKUPINO operation for
unknown inodes. Any inode reference obtained this way will be added to a
list in ceph_mds_client, and will only be released when the filesystem is
umounted.

Inode i_filelock_ref is increased in ceph_lock or ceph_flock, but it is
increased again in ceph_lock_message. This results in this ref won't
become zero. If CEPH_I_ERROR_FILELOCK flag is set in
remove_session_caps once, this flag can't be cleared even if client is
back to normal. So further file lock will return EIO.

It's possible for us to issue a lookup to revalidate a dentry
concurrently with a rename. If done in the right order, then we could
end up processing dentry info in the reply that no longer reflects the
state of the dentry.
If req->r_dentry->d_name differs from the one in the trace, then just
ignore the trace in the reply. We only need to do this however if the
parent's i_rwsem is not held.

Ben reported tripping the BUG_ON in create_request_message during some
performance testing. Analysis of the vmcore showed that the length of
the r_dentry->d_name string changed after we allocated the buffer, but
before we encoded it.
build_dentry_path returns pointers to d_name in the common case of
non-snapped dentries, but this optimization isn't safe unless the parent
directory is locked. When it isn't, have the code make a copy of the
d_name while holding the d_lock.

If number of caps exceed the limit, ceph_trim_dentires() also trim
dentries with valid leases. Trimming dentry releases references to
associated inode, which may evict inode and release caps.
By default, there is no limit for caps count.

Previous commit make VFS delete stale dentry when last reference is
dropped. Lease also can become invalid when corresponding dentry has
no reference. This patch make cephfs periodically scan lease list,
delete corresponding dentry if lease is invalid.
There are two types of lease, dentry lease and dir lease. dentry lease
has life time and applies to singe dentry. Dentry lease is added to tail
of a list when it's updated, leases at front of the list will expire
first. Dir lease is CEPH_CAP_FILE_SHARED on directory inode, it applies
to all dentries in the directory. Dentries have dir leases are added to
another list. Dentries in the list are periodically checked in a round
robin manner.

ceph_getattr() return zero dev ID for head inodes and set dev ID to
snapid directly for snaphost inodes. This is not good because userspace
utilities may consider device ID of 0 as invalid, snapid may conflict
with other device's ID.
This patch introduces "snapids to anonymous bdev IDs" map. we create a
new mapping when we see a snapid for the first time. we trim unused
mapping after it is ilde for 5 minutes.

totalram_pages and totalhigh_pages are made static inline function.
Main motivation was that managed_page_count_lock handling was complicating
things. It was discussed in length here,

mds contains an optimization, it does not re-issue stale caps if
client does not want any cap.
A special case of the optimization is that client wants some caps,
but skipped updating 'wanted'. For this case, client needs to update
'wanted' when stale session get renewed.

Updating mseq makes client think importer mds has accepted all prior
cap messages and importer mds knows what caps client wants. Actually
some cap messages may have been dropped because of mseq mismatch.
If mseq is left untouched, importing cap's mds_wanted later will get
reset by cap import message.

splice_dentry() may drop the original dentry and return other
dentry. It relies on its caller to update pointer that points
to the dropped dentry. This is error-prone.

Since we found a problem with the 'copy-from' operation after objects have
been truncated, offloading object copies to OSDs should be discouraged
until the issue is fixed.
Thus, this patch adds the 'nocopyfrom' mount option to the default mount
options which effectily means that remote copies won't be done in
copy_file_range unless they are explicitly enabled at mount time.

No one is running pre-argonaut. In addition one of the argonaut
features (NOSRCADDR) has been required since day one (and a half,
2.6.34 vs 2.6.35) of the kernel client.
Allow for the possibility of reusing these feature bits later.

If we try to copy into a file that was just written, any data that is
remote copied will be overwritten by our buffered writes once they are
flushed. When this happens, the call to invalidate_inode_pages2_range
will also return a -EBUSY error.
This patch fixes this by also sync'ing the destination file before
starting any copy.

In the iov_iter struct, separate the iterator type from the iterator
direction and use accessor functions to access them in most places.
Convert a bunch of places to use switch-statements to access them rather
then chains of bitwise-AND statements. This makes it easier to add further
iterator types. Also, this can be more efficient as to implement a switch
of small contiguous integers, the compiler can use ~50% fewer compare
instructions than it has to use bitwise-and instructions.
Further, cease passing the iterator type into the iterator setup function.
The iterator function can set that itself. Only the direction is required.

Add a new mount option 'nocopyfrom' that will prevent the usage of the
RADOS 'copy-from' operation in cephfs. This could be useful, for example,
for an administrator to temporarily mitigate any possible bugs in the
'copy-from' implementation.
Currently, only copy_file_range uses this RADOS operation. Setting this
mount option will result in this syscall reverting to the default VFS
implementation, i.e. to perform the copies locally instead of doing remote
object copies.

This commit implements support for the copy_file_range syscall in cephfs.
It is implemented using the RADOS 'copy-from' operation, which allows to
do a remote object copy, without the need to download/upload data from/to
the OSDs.
Some manual copy may however be required if the source/destination file
offsets aren't object aligned or if the copy length is smaller than the
object size.

ceph_try_get_caps currently calls try_get_cap_refs with the nonblock
parameter always set to 'true'. This change adds a new parameter that
allows to set it's value. This will be useful for a follow-up patch that
will need to get two sets of capabilities for two different inodes without
risking a deadlock.

Currently message data items are allocated with ceph_msg_data_create()
in setup_request_data() inside send_request(). send_request() has never
been allowed to fail, so each allocation is followed by a BUG_ON:
data = ceph_msg_data_create(...);
BUG_ON(!data);
It's been this way since support for multiple message data items was
added in commit 6644ed7b7e ("libceph: make message data be a pointer")
in 3.10.
There is no reason to delay the allocation of message data items until
the last possible moment and we certainly don't need a linked list of
them as they are only ever appended to the end and never erased. Make
ceph_msg_new2() take max_data_items and adapt the rest of the code.

The current requirement is that ceph_osdc_alloc_messages() should be
called after oid and oloc are known. In preparation for preallocating
message data items, move ceph_osdc_alloc_messages() further down, so
that it is called when OSD op codes are known.

__cap_delay_requeue could be invoked through ceph_check_caps when there
exists caps that needs to be sent and are delayed by "i_hold_caps_min"
or "i_hold_caps_max". If __cap_delay_requeue sets timeout unconditionally,
there could be a chance that some "wanted" caps can not be release for a
long since their timeouts are reset every time they get delayed.

Because send_mds_reconnect() wants to send a message with a pagelist
and pass the ownership to the messenger, ceph_msg_data_add_pagelist()
consumes a ref which is then put in ceph_msg_data_destroy(). This
makes managing pagelists in the OSD client (where they are wrapped in
ceph_osd_data) unnecessarily hard because the handoff only happens in
ceph_osdc_start_request() instead of when the pagelist is passed to
ceph_osd_data_pagelist_init(). I counted several memory leaks on
various error paths.
Fix up ceph_msg_data_add_pagelist() and carry a pagelist ref in
ceph_osd_data.

Current implementation of cephfs fallocate isn't correct as it doesn't
really reserve the space in the cluster, which means that a subsequent
call to a write may actually fail due to lack of space. In fact, it is
currently possible to fallocate an amount space that is larger than the
free space in the cluster. It has behaved this way since the initial
commit ad7a60de88 ("ceph: punch hole support").
Since there's no easy solution to fix this at the moment, this patch
simply removes support for all fallocate operations but
FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE (which implies FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE).

ceph_setattr() finally calls vfs function inode_newsize_ok()
to do offset validation and that is based on sb->s_maxbytes.
Because we set sb->s_maxbytes to MAX_LFS_FILESIZE to through
VFS check and do proper offset validation in cephfs level,
we need adding proper offset validation before calling
inode_newsize_ok().

In order to not bother to VFS and other specific filesystems,
we decided to do offset validation inside ceph kernel client,
so just simply set sb->s_maxbytes to MAX_LFS_FILESIZE so that
it can successfully pass VFS check. We add new field max_file_size
in ceph_fs_client to store real file size limit and doing proper
check based on it.

When a client authenticates with a service, an authorizer is sent with
a nonce to the service (ceph_x_authorize_[ab]) and the service responds
with a mutation of that nonce (ceph_x_authorize_reply). This lets the
client verify the service is who it says it is but it doesn't protect
against a replay: someone can trivially capture the exchange and reuse
the same authorizer to authenticate themselves.
Allow the service to reject an initial authorizer with a random
challenge (ceph_x_authorize_challenge). The client then has to respond
with an updated authorizer proving they are able to decrypt the
service's challenge and that the new authorizer was produced for this
specific connection instance.
The accepting side requires this challenge and response unconditionally
if the client side advertises they have CEPHX_V2 feature bit.
This addresses CVE-2018-1128.

represented as a 'timespec' structure in Linux. This changes it to
timespec64 to allow times beyond 2038, modifying all users at the
same time.

Since the vfs structures are all using timespec64, we can now
change the internal representation, using ceph_encode_timespec64 and
ceph_decode_timespec64.
In case of ceph_aux_inode however, we need to avoid doing a memcmp()
on uninitialized padding data, so the members of the i_mtime field get
copied individually into 64-bit integers.

ceph_mdsc_create_request() is one of the last callers of the
deprecated current_kernel_time() as well as timespec_trunc().
This changes it to use the timespec64 based interfaces instead,
though we still need to convert the result until we are ready to
change over req->r_stamp.
The output of the two functions, ktime_get_coarse_real_ts64() and
current_kernel_time() is the same coarse-granular timestamp,
the only difference here is that ktime_get_coarse_real_ts64()
doesn't overflow in 2038.

When the size of acl extended attribution is larger than pre-allocated
value buffer size, we will hit error '-ERANGE' and it's probabaly caused
by concurrent get/set acl from different clients. In this case, current
logic just sets acl to NULL so that we cannot get proper information but
the operation looks successful.
This patch adds retry logic for error -ERANGE and return -EIO if fail
from the retry. Additionally, print real errno when failing from
__ceph_getxattr().

Parallel to FILE_CREATED, goes into ->f_mode instead of *opened.
NFS is a bit of a wart here - it doesn't have file at the point
where FILE_CREATED used to be set, so we need to propagate it
there (for now). IMA is another one (here and everywhere)...
Note that this needs do_dentry_open() to leave old bits in ->f_mode
alone - we want it to preserve FMODE_CREATED if it had been already
set (no other bit can be there).

This is a late set of changes from Deepa Dinamani doing an automated
treewide conversion of the inode and iattr structures from 'timespec'
to 'timespec64', to push the conversion from the VFS layer into the
individual file systems.
There were no conflicts between this and the contents of linux-next
until just before the merge window, when we saw multiple problems:
- A minor conflict with my own y2038 fixes, which I could address
by adding another patch on top here.
- One semantic conflict with late changes to the NFS tree. I addressed

The check (intval < PAGE_SIZE) will involve type cast, so even when
specifying negative value to rsize/wsize/readdir_max_bytes, it will

when I specify rasize=0~1 then it will be 4096.
when I specify rasize=2~4097 then it will be 8192.
Make it the same as rsize & wsize.

KASAN found an UAF in ceph_statfs. This was a one-off bug but looking at
the code it looks like the monmap access needs to be protected as it can
be modified while we're accessing it. Fix this by protecting the access
with the monc->mutex.

The intent behind making it a per-request setting was that it would be
set for writes, but not for reads. As it is, the flag is set for all
fs/ceph requests except for pool perm check stat request (technically
a read).
ceph_osdc_abort_on_full() skips reads since the previous commit and
I don't see a use case for marking individual requests.

Currently, calling stat on a cephfs directory returns 1 for st_nlink.
This behaviour has recently changed in the fuse client, as some
applications seem to expect this value to be either 0 (if it's
unlinked) or 2 + number of subdirectories. This behaviour was changed
in the fuse client with commit 67c7e4619188 ("client: use common
interp of st_nlink for dirs").
This patch modifies the kernel client to have a similar behaviour.

Without these new fields, stale st_size is returned in following
case.
1. MDS modifies a directory
2. MDS issues CEPH_CAP_ANY_SHARED to client
3. The client satifies stat(2) by its cached metadata. set st_size
to "i_files + i_subdirs".

In MDS, file/subdir counts of a directory inode are protected by
filelock. In request reply without Fs cap, nfiles/nsubdirs can be
stale.
