Linus Torvalds d5acba26bf Char/Misc driver patches for 4.19-rc1
Here is the bit set of char/misc drivers for 4.19-rc1

There is a lot here, much more than normal, seems like everyone is
writing new driver subsystems these days... Anyway, major things here
 are:
 	- new FSI driver subsystem, yet-another-powerpc low-level
 	  hardware bus
 	- gnss, finally an in-kernel GPS subsystem to try to tame all of
the crazy out-of-tree drivers that have been floating around
for years, combined with some really hacky userspace
implementations. This is only for GNSS receivers, but you
have to start somewhere, and this is great to see.
Other than that, there are new slimbus drivers, new coresight drivers,
new fpga drivers, and loads of DT bindings for all of these and existing
 drivers.

Full details of everything is in the shortlog.

All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
 issues.

Andy Shevchenko 55aedef50d pinctrl: intel: Do pin translation when lock IRQ
Default GPIOLIB callbacks for request and release IRQ do not do a GPIO
to pin translation which is necessary for Intel hardware, such as Intel
Cannonlake. Absence of the translation prevents some pins to be locked

translation possible to avoid above issue.

Randy Dunlap ac3167257b headers: separate linux/mod_devicetable.h from linux/platform_device.h
At over 4000 #includes, <linux/platform_device.h> is the 9th most
#included header file in the Linux kernel. It does not need
<linux/mod_devicetable.h>, so drop that header and explicitly add
<linux/mod_devicetable.h> to source files that need it.

   4146 #include <linux/platform_device.h>

After this patch, there are 225 files that use <linux/mod_devicetable.h>,
for a reduction of around 3900 times that <linux/mod_devicetable.h>
does not have to be read & parsed.

    225 #include <linux/mod_devicetable.h>

This patch was build-tested on 20 different arch-es.

It also makes these drivers SubmitChecklist#1 compliant.

Dmitry Torokhov 86c5dd6860 pinctrl: cherryview: limit Strago DMI workarounds to version 1.0
As Google/Intel will fix the BIOS/Coreboot issues with hardcoding
virtual interrupt numbers for keyboard/touchpad/touchscreen controllers
in ACPI tables, they will also update BOARD version number from 1.0
to 1.1. Let's limit the DMI quirks that try to preserve virtual IRQ
numbers on Strago boards to those that still carry older BIOSes.

Note that ideally not BOARD but BIOS version should have been updated.
However the BIOS version used by Chrome devices has format of
Google_BUILD.BRANCH.PATCH which is not well suited for DMI matching as
we do not have "less than" match mode for DMI data.

Mika Westerberg c41eb2c7f9 pinctrl: sunrisepoint: Align GPIO number space with Windows
It turns out that the Windows GPIO driver for Sunrisepoint PCH-H uses
similar bank structure than it does for Cannon Lake with the exception
that here the bank size is always 24 pins. Starting from pad group E the
BIOS/Windows GPIO numbering does not match the hardware anymore but
instead there are gaps to make each pad group ("bank") consume exactly
24 pins. Because of this Linux does not use correct pins for
GpioIo/GpioIo resources exposed by the BIOS.

This patch aligns the GPIO number space with BIOS/Windows to make sure
the same numbering scheme is used in Linux as well following what we did
already for Intel Cannon Lake.

Mika Westerberg 83b9dc1131 pinctrl: cherryview: Associate IRQ descriptors to irqdomain
When we dropped the custom Linux GPIO translation it resulted that the
IRQ numbers changed slightly as well. Normally this would be fine
because everyone is expected to use controller relative GPIO numbers and
ACPI GpioIo/GpioInt resources. However, there is a certain set of
Intel_Strago based Chromebooks where i8042 keyboard controller IRQ
number is hardcoded be 182 (this is corrected with newer coreboot but
the older ones still have the hardcoded Linux IRQ number). Because of
this hardcoded IRQ number keyboard on those systems accidentally broke
again.

Fix this by iteratively associating IRQ descriptors to the chip irqdomain
so that there are no gaps on those systems. Other systems are not
affected.

Linus Torvalds ef991796be This is the bulk of pin control changes for the v4.16 kernel cycle:
Core changes:

 - After lengthy discussions and partly due to my ignorance, we have
   merged a patch making pinctrl_force_default() and pinctrl_force_sleep()
reprogram the states into the hardware of any hogged pins, even
if they are already in the desired state. This only apply to hogged
pins since groups of pins owned by drivers need to be managed by
each driver, lest they could not do things like runtime PM and
put pins to sleeping state even if the system as a whole is not
   in sleep.

 New drivers:

 - New driver for the Microsemi Ocelot SoC. This is used in ethernet
   switches.

 - The X-Powers AXP209 GPIO driver was extended to also deal with pin
control and moved over from the GPIO subsystem. This circuit is
a mixed-mode integrated circuit which is part of AllWinner designs.

 - New subdriver for the Qualcomm MSM8998 SoC, core of a high end
   mobile devices (phones) chipset.

 - New subdriver for the ST Microelectronics STM32MP157 MPU and
STM32F769 MCU from the STM32 family.

 - New subdriver for the MediaTek MT7622 SoC. This is used for routers,
repeater, gateways and such network infrastructure.

 - New subdriver for the NXP (former Freescale) i.MX 6ULL. This SoC has
multimedia features and target "smart devices", I guess in-car
entertainment, in-flight entertainment, industrial control panels etc.

 General improvements:

 - Incremental improvements on the SH-PFC subdrivers for things like
   the CAN bus.

 - Enable the glitch filter on Baytrail GPIOs used for interrupts.

 - Proper handling of pins to GPIO ranges on the Semtec SX150X

 - An IRQ setup ordering fix on MCP23S08.

 - A good set of janitorial coding style fixes.

Hans de Goede 9291c65b01 pinctrl: baytrail: Enable glitch filter for GPIOs used as interrupts
On some systems, some PCB traces attached to GpioInts are routed in such
a way that they pick up enough interference to constantly (many times per

Enabling glitch-filtering fixes this.

Mika Westerberg d2b3c35359 pinctrl: cherryview: Mask all interrupts on Intel_Strago based systems
Guenter Roeck reported an interrupt storm on a prototype system which is
based on Cyan Chromebook. The root cause turned out to be a incorrectly
configured pin that triggers spurious interrupts. This will be fixed in
coreboot but currently we need to prevent the interrupt storm from
happening by masking all interrupts (but not GPEs) on those systems.

Colin Ian King 33b6cb58cb pinctrl: intel: ensure error return ret is initialized
In the (unlikely) event that community->ngpps is zero, or if every
gpp->gpio_base is less than zero, then an ininitialized value in

ensuring ret is initialized to zero. It's a moot point, but I think
it is worthwhile ensuring this corner case is fixed.

Mika Westerberg f5a26acf01 pinctrl: intel: Initialize GPIO properly when used through irqchip
When a GPIO is requested using gpiod_get_* APIs the intel pinctrl driver
switches the pin to GPIO mode and makes sure interrupts are routed to
the GPIO hardware instead of IOAPIC. However, if the GPIO is used
directly through irqchip, as is the case with many I2C-HID devices where
I2C core automatically configures interrupt for the device, the pin is
not initialized as GPIO. Instead we rely that the BIOS configures the
pin accordingly which seems not to be the case at least in Asus X540NA
SKU3 with Focaltech touchpad.

When the pin is not properly configured it might result weird behaviour
like interrupts suddenly stop firing completely and the touchpad stops
responding to user input.

Fix this by properly initializing the pin to GPIO mode also when it is
used directly through irqchip.

Mika Westerberg cb5fda413e pinctrl: cannonlake: Align GPIO number space with Windows
The Cannon Lake Windows GPIO driver always exposes 32 pins per "bank"
regardless of whether the hardware actually has that many pins in a pad
group. This means that there are gaps in the GPIO number space even if
such gaps do not exist in the real hardware. To make things worse the
BIOS is also using the same scheme, so for example on Cannon Lake-LP
vGPIO 39 (vSD3_CD_B) the ACPI GpioInt resource has number 231 instead of
the expected 180 (which would be the hardware number).

To make SD card detection and other GPIOs working properly in Linux we
align the pinctrl-cannonlake GPIO numbering to follow the Windows GPIO
driver numbering taking advantage of the gpio_base field introduced in
the previous patch.

Mika Westerberg a60eac3239 pinctrl: intel: Allow custom GPIO base for pad groups
Currently we always have direct mapping between GPIO numbers and the
hardware pin numbers. However, there are cases where that's not the case
anymore (more about this in the next patch). Instead we need to be able
to specify custom GPIO base for certain pad groups.

To support this, add a new field (gpio_base) to the pad group structure
and update the core Intel pinctrl driver to handle this accordingly.
Passing 0 as gpio_base will use direct mapping so the existing drivers
do not need to be modified. Passing -1 excludes the whole pad group from
having GPIO mapping.

Mika Westerberg 03c4749dd6 gpio / ACPI: Drop unnecessary ACPI GPIO to Linux GPIO translation
We added acpi_gpiochip_pin_to_gpio_offset() because there was a need to
translate from ACPI GpioIo/GpioInt number to Linux GPIO number in the
Cherryview pinctrl driver. This translation is necessary because
Cherryview has gaps in the pin list and the driver used continuous GPIO
number space in Linux side as follows:

  created GPIO range 0->7 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 0->7
  created GPIO range 8->19 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 15->26
  created GPIO range 20->25 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 30->35
  created GPIO range 26->33 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 45->52
  created GPIO range 34->43 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 60->69
  created GPIO range 44->54 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 75->85

For example when ACPI GpioInt resource refers to GPIO 81 (SDMMC3_CD_B)
we translate from pin 81 to the corresponding Linux GPIO number, which
is 50. This number is then used when the GPIO is accessed through gpiolib.

It turns out, this is not necessary at all. We can just pass 1:1 mapping
between Linux GPIO numbers and pin numbers (including gaps) and the
pinctrl core handles all the details automatically:

  created GPIO range 0->7 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 0->7
  created GPIO range 15->26 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 15->26
  created GPIO range 30->35 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 30->35
  created GPIO range 45->52 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 45->52
  created GPIO range 60->69 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 60->69
  created GPIO range 75->85 ==> INT33FF:03 PIN 75->85

Here GPIO 81 is exactly same than the hardware pin 81 (SDMMC3_CD_B).

As an added bonus this simplifies both the ACPI GPIO core code and the
Cherryview pinctrl driver.

can be used to create oscilloscopes and signal analyzers
and other things that rely on reading several lines at

   electrical result would be disastrous.

 - A new interrupt chip core helper. This will be helpful

with several logical blocks of GPIO inside them. This
is several gpiochips per device in the device model, in
contrast to the case when there is a 1-to-1 relationship

Greg Kroah-Hartman b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Grygorii Strashko 845e405e5e pinctrl: cherryview: fix issues caused by dynamic gpio irqs mapping
New GPIO IRQs are allocated and mapped dynamically by default when
GPIO IRQ infrastructure is used by cherryview-pinctrl driver.
This causes issues on some Intel platforms [1][2] with broken BIOS which
hardcodes Linux IRQ numbers in their ACPI tables.

On such platforms cherryview-pinctrl driver should allocate and map all
GPIO IRQs at probe time.
Side effect - "Cannot allocate irq_descs @ IRQ%d, assuming pre-allocated\n"
can be seen at boot log.

NOTE. It still may fail if boot sequence will changed and some interrupt
controller will be probed before cherryview-pinctrl which will shift Linux IRQ
numbering (expected with CONFIG_SPARCE_IRQ enabled).

Rushikesh S Kadam 5ff56b015e pinctrl: intel: Disable GPIO pin interrupts in suspend
The fix prevents unintended wakes from second level GPIO pin interrupts.

On some Intel Kabylake platforms, it is observed that GPIO pin interrupts
can wake the platform from suspend-to-idle, even though the IRQ is not
configured as IRQF_NO_SUSPEND or enable_irq_wake().

This can cause undesired wakes on Mobile devices such as Laptops and
Chromebook devices. For example a headset jack insertion is not a desired
wake source on Chromebook devices.

The pinctrl-intel (GPIO controller) driver implements a "Shared IRQ" model.
All GPIO pin interrupts are OR'ed and mapped to a first level IRQ14 (or
IRQ15). The driver registers an irq_chip struct and maps an irq_domain for
the GPIO pin interrupts. The IRQ14 handler demuxes and calls the second
level IRQ for the respective pin.

In the suspend entry flow, at suspend_noirq stage, the kernel disables IRQs
that are not marked for wake. The pinctrl-intel driver does not implement a
irq_disable() callback (to take advantage of lazy disabling). The
pinctrl-intel GPIO interrupts are not disabled in hardware during suspend
entry, and thus are able to wake the SoC out of suspend-to-idle.

This patch sets the IRQCHIP_MASK_ON_SUSPEND flag for the GPIO irq_chip, to
disable the second level interrupts at suspend_noirq stage via the irq_mask
callbacks. The irq_mask callback disables the IRQs in hardware by
programming the corresponding GPIO pad registers. Only IRQs that are not
marked for wake are disabled.

Mika Westerberg 919eb4756e pinctrl: intel: Add support for variable size pad groups
The Intel GPIO hardware has a concept of pad groups, which means 1 to 32
pads occupying their own GPI_IS, GPI_IE, PAD_OWN and so on registers. The
existing hardware has the same amount of pads in each pad group (except the
last one) so it is possible to use community->gpp_size to calculate start
offset of each register.

With the next generation SoCs the pad group size is not always the same
anymore which means we cannot use community->gpp_size for register offset
calculations directly.

To support variable size pad groups we introduce struct intel_padgroup that
can be filled in by the client drivers according the hardware pad group
layout. The core driver will always use these when it performs calculations
for pad register offsets. The core driver will automatically populate pad
groups based on community->gpp_size if the driver does not provide any.
This makes sure the existing drivers still work as expected.

  impressed.

I have recruited a Samsung subsubsystem maintainer (Krzysztof) to deal
with the onset of Samsung patches. It works great.

Apart from that it is a boring round, just incremental updates and
fixes all over the place, no serious core changes or anything exciting
like that. The most pleasing to see is Julia Cartwrights work to audit
the irqchip-providing drivers for realtime locking compliance. It's
one of those "I should really get around to looking into that" things
that have been on my TODO list since forever.

  Summary:

  Core changes:

   - add bi-directional and output-enable pin configurations to the
generic bindings and generic pin controlling core.

  New drivers or subdrivers:

   - Armada 37xx SoC pin controller and GPIO support.

   - Axis ARTPEC-6 SoC pin controller support.

   - AllWinner A64 R_PIO controller support, and opening up the
AllWinner sunxi driver for ARM64 use.

   - Rockchip RK3328 support.

   - Renesas R-Car H3 ES2.0 support.

   - STM32F469 support in the STM32 driver.

   - Aspeed G4 and G5 pin controller support.

  Improvements:

   - a whole slew of realtime improvements to drivers implementing
irqchips: BCM, AMD, SiRF, sunxi, rockchip.

   - switch meson driver to get the GPIO ranges from the device tree.

   - input schmitt trigger support on the Rockchip driver.

   - enable the sunxi (AllWinner) driver to also be used on ARM64
     silicon.

   - name the Qualcomm QDF2xxx GPIO lines.

   - support GMMR GPIO regions on the Intel Cherryview. This fixes a
     serialization problem on these platforms.

   - pad retention support for the Samsung Exynos 5433.

   - handle suspend-to-ram in the AT91-pio4 driver.

   - pin configuration support in the Aspeed driver.

  Cleanups:

   - the final name of Rockchip RK1108 was RV1108 so rename the driver
     and variables to stay consistent"

Mika Westerberg 7036502783 pinctrl: cherryview: Add a quirk to make Acer Chromebook keyboard work again
After commit 47c950d102 ("pinctrl: cherryview: Do not add all
southwest and north GPIOs to IRQ domain") the driver does not add all
GPIOs to the irqdomain. The reason for that is that those GPIOs cannot
generate IRQs at all, only GPEs (General Purpose Events). This causes
Linux virtual IRQ numbering to change.

However, it seems some CYAN Chromebooks, including Acer Chromebook
hardcodes these Linux IRQ numbers in the ACPI tables of the machine.
Since the numbering is different now, the IRQ meant for keyboard does
not match the Linux virtual IRQ number anymore making the keyboard
non-functional.

Work this around by adding special quirk just for these machines where
we add back all GPIOs to the irqdomain. Rest of the Cherryview/Braswell
based machines will not be affected by the change.

Hans de Goede a0b028597d pinctrl: cherryview: Add support for GMMR GPIO opregion
On some Cherry Trail devices the ASL uses the GMMR GPIO to access
GPIOs so as to serialize MMIO accesses to GPIO registers with the
OS, because:

"Due to a silicon issue, a shared lock must be used to prevent concurrent
accesses across the 4 GPIO controllers.

See Intel Atom Z8000 Processor Series Specification Update (Rev. 005),

This commit adds support for this opregion, this fixes a number of
ASL errors on my Ezpad mini3 tablet and makes the otg port device/host
muxing which is controlled in firmware on this model work properly.

Linus Torvalds 5ab356626f Pin control bulk changes for the v4.11 kernel cycle:
Core changes:

 - Switch the generic pin config argument from 16 to 24 bits,
only use 8 bits for the configuration type. We might need to
encode more information about a certain setting than we need
   to encode different generic settings.

 - Add a cross-talk API to the pin control GPIO back-end,
utilizing pinctrl_gpio_set_config() from GPIO drivers that
want to set up a certain pin configuration in the back-end.
This also includes the .set_config() refactoring of the
GPIO chips, so that they pass a generic configuration for
things like debouncing and single ended (typically open
drain). This change has also been merged in an immutable
   branch to the GPIO tree.

 - Take hogs with a delayed work, so that we finalize probing
a pin controller before trying to get any hogs.

 - For pin controllers putting all group and function definitions
into the device tree, we now have generic code to deal with
this and it is used in two drivers so far.

 - Simplifications of the pin request conflict check.

 - Make dt_free_map() optional.

 Updates to drivers:

 - pinctrl-single now use the generic helpers to generate dynamic
group and function tables from the device tree.

 - Texas Instruments IOdelay configuration driver add-on to
   pinctrl-single.

 - i.MX: use radix trees to store groups and functions, use the new

The current pinconf packed format allows only 16-bit argument limiting
the maximum value 65535. For most types this is enough. However,
debounce time can be in range of hundreths of milliseconds in case of
mechanical switches so we cannot represent the worst case using the
current format.

In order to support larger values change the packed format so that the
lower 8 bits are used as type which leaves 24 bits for the argument.
This allows representing values up to 16777215 and debounce times up to
16 seconds.

We also convert the existing users to use 32-bit integer when extracting

The register which keeps debounce value is separated from the configuration
one. Writing wrong values to the latter will guarantee wrong behaviour of the
driver and even might break something physically.

Besides above there is missed case how to disable it, which is actually done
through the bit in configuration register.

Rectify implementation here by using proper register for debounce value.

Mika Westerberg d2cdf5dc58 pinctrl: cherryview: Prevent possible interrupt storm on resume
When the system is suspended to S3 the BIOS might re-initialize certain
GPIO pins back to their original state or it may re-program interrupt mask
of others. For example Acer TravelMate B116-M had BIOS bug where certain
GPIO pin (MF_ISH_GPIO_5) was programmed to trigger on high level, and the
pin state was high once the BIOS gave control to the OS on resume.

This triggers lots of messages like:

 irq 117, desc: ffff88017a61e600, depth: 1, count: 0, unhandled: 0
 ->handle_irq():  ffffffff8109b613, handle_bad_irq+0x0/0x1e0
 ->irq_data.chip(): ffffffffa0020180, chv_pinctrl_exit+0x2d84/0x12 [pinctrl_cherryview]
 ->action():           (null)
    IRQ_NOPROBE set

We reset the mask back to known state in chv_pinctrl_resume() but that is
called only after device interrupts have already been enabled.

Now, this particular issue was fixed by upgrading the BIOS to the latest
(v1.23) but not everybody upgrades their BIOSes so we fix it up in the
driver as well.

Prevent the possible interrupt storm by moving suspend and resume hooks to
be called at _noirq time instead. Since device interrupts are still
disabled we can restore the mask back to known state before interrupt storm
happens.

Mika Westerberg c538b94367 pinctrl: intel: Only restore pins that are used by the driver
Dell XPS 13 (and maybe some others) uses a GPIO (CPU_GP_1) during suspend
to explicitly disable USB touchscreen interrupt. This is done to prevent
situation where the lid is closed the touchscreen is left functional.

The pinctrl driver (wrongly) assumes it owns all pins which are owned by
host and not locked down. It is perfectly fine for BIOS to use those pins
as it is also considered as host in this context.

What happens is that when the lid of Dell XPS 13 is closed, the BIOS
configures CPU_GP_1 low disabling the touchscreen interrupt. During resume
we restore all host owned pins to the known state which includes CPU_GP_1
and this overwrites what the BIOS has programmed there causing the
touchscreen to fail as no interrupts are reaching the CPU anymore.

Fix this by restoring only those pins we know are explicitly requested by
the kernel one way or other.

Nilesh Bacchewar 01dabe91b1 pinctrl: intel: Configure GPIO chip IRQ as wakeup interrupts
On some Intel BXT platform, wake-up from suspend-to-idle on pressing
power-button is not working. Its noticed that gpio-keys driver marking the
second level IRQ/power-button as wake capable but Intel pintctrl
driver is missing to mark GPIO chip/controller IRQ which first level IRQ
as wake cable if its GPIO pin IRQ is wakeble. So, though the first level
IRQ gets generated on power-button press, since it is not marked as
wake capable resume/wake-up flow is not happening.
Intel pintctrl/GPIO driver need to mark GPIO chip/controller IRQ (first
level IRQ) as wake capable iff GPIO pin's IRQ (second level IRQ) is marked
as wake cable.

Mika Westerberg 47c950d102 pinctrl: cherryview: Do not add all southwest and north GPIOs to IRQ domain
It turns out that for north and southwest communities, they can only
generate GPIO interrupts for lower 8 interrupts (IntSel value). The upper
part (8-15) can only generate GPEs (General Purpose Events).

Now the reason why EC events such as pressing hotkeys does not work if we
mask all the interrupts is that in order to generate either interrupts or
GPEs the INTMASK register must have that particular interrupt unmasked. In
case of GPEs the CPU does not trigger normal interrupt (and thus the GPIO
driver does not see it) but instead it causes SCI (System Control
Interrupt) to be triggered with the GPE in question set.

To make this all work as expected we only add those GPIOs to the IRQ domain
that can actually generate interrupts (IntSel value 0-7) and skip others.

Mika Westerberg bcb48cca23 pinctrl: cherryview: Do not mask all interrupts in probe
The Cherryview GPIO controller has 8 or 16 wires connected to the I/O-APIC
which can be used directly by the platform/BIOS or drivers. One such wire
is used as SCI (System Control Interrupt) which ACPI depends on to be able
to trigger GPEs (General Purpose Events).

The pinctrl driver itself uses another IRQ resource which is wire OR of all
the 8 (or 16) wires and follows what BIOS has programmed to the IntSel
register of each pin.

Currently the driver masks all interrupts at probe time and this prevents
these direct interrupts from working as expected. The reason for this is
that some early stage prototypes had some pins misconfigured causing lots
of spurious interrupts.

We fix this by leaving the interrupt mask untouched. This allows SCI and
other direct interrupts work properly. What comes to the possible spurious
interrupts we switch the default handler to be handle_bad_irq() instead of
handle_simple_irq() (which was not correct anyway).

The pinctrl-intel needs to use request_irq() instead of chained interrupt

The handle_irq_event_* functions (and I suppose generic_handle_irq()) is
expected to be called with interrupts disabled and they rightfully complain
here because we run in thread context with interrupts enabled.

Fix this by adding IRQF_NO_THREAD flag when the master interrupt is
requested. This prevents forced threading of the interrupt used by the GPIO
host controllers.

The reason why this happens is because intel_gpio_irq_ack() is called with
desc->lock raw_spinlock locked which cannot sleep but our normal spinlock
(which is converted to rtmutex in -rt) is allowed to sleep. This causes
might_sleep() to trigger.

Fix this by converting the normal spinlock to a raw_spinlock.

Paul Gortmaker 360943a8d2 pinctrl: baytrail: make it explicitly non-modular
The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:

config PINCTRL_BAYTRAIL
bool "Intel Baytrail GPIO pin control"

...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.

Lets remove the modular code that is essentially orphaned, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.

We explicitly disallow a driver unbind, since that doesn't have a
sensible use case anyway, and it allows us to drop the ".remove"
code for non-modular drivers.

Since module_init() was already not in use in this driver, we don't
have any concerns with init ordering changes here.

Also note that MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE is a no-op for non-modular code.

We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information
is already contained at the top of the file in the comments.

Cristina Ciocan c8f5c4c7c8 pinctrl: baytrail: Add pin control data structures
In order to implement pin control for Baytrail, we need data
structures in which to store and pass along pin, group, function,
community and SOC data information.

Baytrail has 3 GPIO controllers. Add SCORE, NCORE and SUS
controller data:
- pins (for all controllers),
- pad map for pins (for all controllers; we need this since pads
  are not ordered),
- groups (for SCORE and SUS controllers),
- functions (for SCORE and SUS controllers),
- communities (for all controllers),
- soc specific data gathering all of the above and the ACPI UID
  (for all controllers)

This information is useful for pin control functionality.
NCORE data is lighter than the other two controllers' due to
lack of pin documentation in the public datasheet.

Linus Walleij 58383c7842 gpio: change member .dev to .parent
The name .dev in a struct is normally reserved for a struct device
that is let us say a superclass to the thing described by the struct.
struct gpio_chip stands out by confusingly using a struct device *dev
to point to the parent device (such as a platform_device) that
represents the hardware. As we want to give gpio_chip:s real devices,
this is not working. We need to rename this member to parent.

This was done by two coccinelle scripts, I guess it is possible to
combine them into one, but I don't know such stuff. They look like
this:

@@
struct gpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->dev
+var->parent

and:

@@
struct gpio_chip var;
@@
-var.dev
+var.parent

and:

@@
struct bgpio_chip *var;
@@
-var->gc.dev
+var->gc.parent

Plus a few instances of bgpio that I couldn't figure out how
to teach Coccinelle to rewrite.

This patch hits all over the place, but I *strongly* prefer this
solution to any piecemal approaches that just exercise patch
mechanics all over the place. It mainly hits drivers/gpio and
drivers/pinctrl which is my own backyard anyway.

Linus Torvalds e86328c489 This is the bulk of GPIO changes for v4.4:
GPIO core:
 - Define and handle flags for open drain/open collector
and open source/open emitter, also know as "single-ended"
   configurations.
 - Generic request/free operations that handle calling out
to the (optional) pin control backend.
 - Some refactoring related to an ABI change that did not
   happen, yet provide useful.
 - Added a real-time compliance checklist. Many GPIO chips
have irqchips, and need to think this over with the RT
   patches going upstream.
 - Restructure, fix and clean up Kconfig menus a bit.

 New drivers:
 - New driver for AMD Promony.
 - New driver for ACCES 104-IDIO-16, a port-mapped I/O
   card, ISA-style. Very retro.

 Subdriver changes:
 - OMAP changes to handle real time requirements.
 - Handle trigger types for edge and level IRQs on PL061
properly. As this hardware is very common it needs to
set a proper example for others to follow.
 - Some container_of() cleanups.
 - Delete the unused MSM driver in favor of the driver that
is embedded inside the pin control driver.
 - Cleanup of the ath79 GPIO driver used by many, many
   OpenWRT router targets.
 - A consolidated IT87xx driver replacing the earlier
   very specific IT8761e driver.
 - Handle the TI TCA9539 in the PCA953x driver. Also
handle ACPI devices in this subdriver.
 - Drop xilinx arch dependencies as these FPGAs seem to
profilate over a few different architectures. MIPS and
   ARM come to mind.

Mika Westerberg 4341e8a545 pinctrl: intel: Allow requesting pins which are in ACPI mode as GPIOs
Reserved for ACPI actually means that in such case the GPIO hardware will
not update the interrupt status register (GPI_IS) even if the pin is
configured to trigger an interrupt. It will update GPI_GPE_STS instead and
does not trigger an interrupt.

Allow using such pins as GPIOs, only prevent their usage as interrupts.

We also rename function intel_pad_reserved_for_acpi() to be

This is because desc->lock is raw_spinlock and is held when chv_gpio_irq_ack()
is called by the genirq core. chv_gpio_irq_ack() in turn takes pctrl->lock
which in -rt is an rt-mutex causing might_sleep() rightfully to complain about
sleeping function called from invalid context.

In order to keep -rt happy but at the same time make sure that register
accesses get serialized, convert the driver to use raw_spinlock instead.

Mika Westerberg 78e1c89693 pinctrl: baytrail: Use raw_spinlock for locking
The Intel Baytrail pinctrl driver implements irqchip callbacks which are
called with desc->lock raw_spinlock held. In mainline this is fine because
spinlock resolves to raw_spinlock. However, running the same code in -rt we
get:

BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context at kernel/locking/rtmutex.c:917
 in_atomic(): 1, irqs_disabled(): 1, pid: 0, name: swapper/0

This is because in -rt spinlocks are preemptible so taking the driver
private spinlock in irqchip callbacks causes might_sleep() to trigger.

In order to keep -rt happy but at the same time make sure that register
accesses get serialized, convert the driver to use raw_spinlock instead.

Also shorten the critical section a bit in few places.

Masahiro Yamada 323de9efdf pinctrl: make pinctrl_register() return proper error code
Currently, pinctrl_register() just returns NULL on error, so the
callers can not know the exact reason of the failure.

Some of the pinctrl drivers return -EINVAL, some -ENODEV, and some
-ENOMEM on error of pinctrl_register(), although the error code
might be different from the real cause of the error.

This commit reworks pinctrl_register() to return the appropriate
error code and modifies all of the pinctrl drivers to use IS_ERR()
for the error checking and PTR_ERR() for getting the error code.

Mika Westerberg e6c906dedb pinctrl: cherryview: Read triggering type from HW if not set when requested
If a driver does not set interrupt triggering type when it calls
request_irq(), it means use the pin as the hardware/firmware has
configured it. There are some drivers doing this. One example is
drivers/input/serio/i8042.c that requests the interrupt like:

	error = request_irq(I8042_KBD_IRQ, i8042_interrupt, IRQF_SHARED,
			    "i8042", i8042_platform_device);

It assumes the interrupt is already properly configured. This is true in
case of interrupts connected to the IO-APIC. However, some Intel
Braswell/Cherryview based machines use a GPIO here instead for the internal
keyboard controller.

This is a problem because even if the pin/interrupt is properly configured,
the irqchip ->irq_set_type() will never be called as the triggering flags
are 0. Because of that we do not have correct interrupt flow handler set
for the interrupt.

Fix this by adding a custom ->irq_startup() that checks if the interrupt
has no triggering type set and in that case read the type directly from the
hardware and install correct flow handler along with the mapping.

Mika Westerberg 31e4329f99 pinctrl: baytrail: Rework interrupt handling
Instead of handling everything in the driver's first level interrupt
handler, we can take advantage of already existing flow handlers that are
provided by the IRQ core.

This changes the functionality a bit also. Previously the driver looped
over pending interrupts in a single loop, restarting the loop if some
interrupt changed state. This caused problem with Lenovo Thinkpad 10
digitizer that it was not able to deassert the interrupt before the driver
disabled the interrupt for good (looplimit was exhausted).

Rework the interrupt handling logic a bit so that we provide proper mask,
ack and unmask operations in terms of Baytrail GPIO hardware and loop over
pending interrupts only once. If the interrupt remains asserted the first
level handler will be re-triggered automatically.

Zotac ZBOX PI320, a Baytrail based mini-PC, has power button connected to a
GPIO pin and it is exposed to the operating system as Windows 8 button
array. This is implemented in Linux as a driver using gpio_keys.

However, BIOS on this particula machine forgot to mux the pin to be a GPIO
instead of native function, which results following message to be seen on
the console:

byt_gpio INT33FC:02: pin 16 cannot be used as GPIO.

This causes power button to not work as the driver was not able to request
the GPIO it needs.

So instead of completely preventing this we allow turning the pin as GPIO
but issue warning that something might be wrong.

Pull pin control changes from Linus Walleij:
"Here is a stash of pin control changes I have collected for the v3.19
series. Mainly new hardware support, with Intels new embedded SoC as
the especially interesting thing standing out, fully using the
  subsystem.

   - Force conversion of the ux500 pin control device trees and parsers
to use the generic pin control bindings.
   - New driver and device tree bindings for the Qualcomm PMIC MPP pin
     controller and GPIO.
   - Some ACPI infrastructure for pin controllers.
   - New driver for the Intel CherryView/Braswell pin controller, the
first Intel pin controller to fully take advantage of the pin
     control subsystem.
   - Support the Freescale i.MX VF610 variant.
   - Support the sunxi A80 variant.
   - Support the Samsung Exynos 4415 and Exynos 7 variants.
   - Split out Intel pin controllers to their own subdirectory.
   - A large slew of rockchip pin control updates, including
     suspend/resume support.
   - A large slew of Samsung Exynos pin controller updates.
   - Various minor updates and fixes"

Mika Westerberg 6e08d6bbeb pinctrl: Add Intel Cherryview/Braswell pin controller support
This driver supports the pin/GPIO controllers found in newer Intel SoCs
like Cherryview and Braswell. The driver provides full GPIO support and
minimal set of pin controlling funtionality.

The driver is based on the original Cherryview GPIO driver authored by Ning
Li and Alan Cox.
