Michael Ellerman 24d33ac5b8 powerpc/64s: Make prom_init require RELOCATABLE
When we boot from open firmware (OF) using PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE, aka.
prom_init, we run parts of the kernel at an address other than the link
address. That happens because OF loads the kernel above zero (OF is at
zero) and we run prom_init before copying the kernel down to zero.

Currently that works even for non-relocatable kernels, because we do
various fixups to the prom_init code to make it run where it's loaded.

However those fixups are not sufficient if the kernel becomes large
enough. In that case prom_init()'s final call to __start() can end up
generating a plt branch:

bl      c000000002000018 <00000078.plt_branch.__start>

That results in the kernel jumping to the linked address of __start,
0xc000000000000000, when really it needs to jump to the
0xc000000000000000 + the runtime address because the kernel is still
running at the load address.

We could do further shenanigans to handle that, see Jordan's patch for
example:

However it is much simpler to just require a kernel with prom_init() to
be built relocatable. The result works in all configurations without
further work, and requires less code.

This should have no effect on most people, as our defconfigs and
essentially all distro configs already have RELOCATABLE enabled.

Nicholas Piggin 59dc5bfca0 powerpc/64s: avoid reloading (H)SRR registers if they are still valid
When an interrupt is taken, the SRR registers are set to return to where
it left off. Unless they are modified in the meantime, or the return
address or MSR are modified, there is no need to reload these registers
when returning from interrupt.

Introduce per-CPU flags that track the validity of SRR and HSRR
registers. These are cleared when returning from interrupt, when
using the registers for something else (e.g., OPAL calls), when
adjusting the return address or MSR of a context, and when context
switching (which changes the return address and MSR).

This improves the performance of interrupt returns.

Michael Ellerman ffaacd97fd powerpc/prom_init: Pass linux_banner to firmware via option vector 7
Pass the value of linux_banner to firmware via option vector 7.

Option vector 7 is described in "LoPAR" Linux on Power Architecture
Reference v2.9, in table B.7 on page 824:

  An ASCII character formatted null terminated string that describes
  the client operating system. The string shall be human readable and
  may be displayed on the console.

The string can be up to 256 bytes total, including the nul terminator.

linux_banner contains lots of information, and should make it possible
to identify the exact kernel version that is running:

possible to correlate what firmware receives with the console/dmesg on

Michael Ellerman f47d5a4fc2 powerpc/prom_init: Convert prom_strcpy() into prom_strscpy_pad()
In a subsequent patch we'd like to have something like a strscpy_pad()
implementation usable in prom_init.c.

Currently we have a strcpy() implementation with only one caller, so
convert it into strscpy_pad() and update the caller.

Andy Shevchenko 4cfdd9201c powerpc/prom_init: Move custom isspace() to its own namespace
If by some reason any of the headers will include ctype.h
we will have a name collision. Avoid this by moving isspace()
to the dedicate namespace.

Cédric Le Goater ed5b00a05c powerpc/prom: Fix "ibm,arch-vec-5-platform-support" scan
The "ibm,arch-vec-5-platform-support" property is a list of pairs of
bytes representing the options and values supported by the platform
firmware. At boot time, Linux scans this list and activates the
available features it recognizes : Radix and XIVE.

A recent change modified the number of entries to loop on and 8 bytes,
4 pairs of { options, values } entries are always scanned. This is
fine on KVM but not on PowerVM which can advertises less. As a
consequence on this platform, Linux reads extra entries pointing to
random data, interprets these as available features and tries to
activate them, leading to a firmware crash in
ibm,client-architecture-support.

Fix that by using the property length of "ibm,arch-vec-5-platform-support".

The "fallthrough" pseudo-keyword was added as a portable way to denote
intentional fallthrough. Clang will still warn on cases where there is a
fallthrough to an immediate break. Add explicit breaks for those cases.

Joe Perches 33def8498f treewide: Convert macro and uses of __section(foo) to __section("foo")
Use a more generic form for __section that requires quotes to avoid
complications with clang and gcc differences.

Remove the quote operator # from compiler_attributes.h __section macro.

Convert all unquoted __section(foo) uses to quoted __section("foo").
Also convert __attribute__((section("foo"))) uses to __section("foo")
even if the __attribute__ has multiple list entry forms.

Michael Ellerman 6c71cfcc01 powerpc/prom_init: Check display props exist before enabling btext
It's possible to enable CONFIG_PPC_EARLY_DEBUG_BOOTX for a pseries
kernel (maybe it shouldn't be), which is then booted with qemu/slof.

But if you do that the kernel crashes in draw_byte(), with a DAR
pointing somewhere near INT_MAX.

Adding some debug to prom_init we see that we're not able to read the
"address" property from OF, so we're just using whatever junk value
was on the stack.

So check the properties can be read properly from OF, if not we bail
out before initialising btext, which avoids the crash.

Vladis Dronov aff779515a powerpc: fix function annotations to avoid section mismatch warnings with gcc-10
Certain warnings are emitted for powerpc code when building with a gcc-10
toolset:

    WARNING: modpost: vmlinux.o(.text.unlikely+0x377c): Section mismatch in
    reference from the function remove_pmd_table() to the function
    .meminit.text:split_kernel_mapping()
    The function remove_pmd_table() references
    the function __meminit split_kernel_mapping().
    This is often because remove_pmd_table lacks a __meminit
    annotation or the annotation of split_kernel_mapping is wrong.

Add the appropriate __init and __meminit annotations to make modpost not
complain. In all the cases there are just a single callsite from another
__init or __meminit function:

__meminit remove_pagetable() -> remove_pud_table() -> remove_pmd_table()
__init prom_init() -> setup_secure_guest()
__init xive_spapr_init() -> xive_spapr_disabled()

Aneesh Kumar K.V bf6b7661f4 powerpc/book3s64/radix: Add kernel command line option to disable radix GTSE
This adds a kernel command line option that can be used to disable GTSE support.
Disabling GTSE implies kernel will make hcalls to invalidate TLB entries.

This was done so that we can do VM migration between configs that enable/disable
GTSE support via hypervisor. To migrate a VM from a system that supports
GTSE to a system that doesn't, we can boot the guest with
radix_hcall_invalidate=on, thereby forcing the guest to use hcalls for TLB
invalidates.

The check for hcall availability is done in pSeries_setup_arch so that
the panic message appears on the console. This should only happen on
a hypervisor that doesn't force the guest to hash translation even
though it can't handle the radix GTSE=0 request via CAS. With
radix_hcall_invalidate=on if the hypervisor doesn't support hcall_rpt_invalidate
hcall it should force the LPAR to hash translation.

Bharata B Rao 029ab30b4c powerpc/mm: Enable radix GTSE only if supported.
Make GTSE an MMU feature and enable it by default for radix.
However for guest, conditionally enable it if hypervisor supports
it via OV5 vector. Let prom_init ask for radix GTSE only if the
support exists.

Having GTSE as an MMU feature will make it easy to enable radix
without GTSE. Currently radix assumes GTSE is enabled by default.

Alistair Popple a3ea40d5c7 powerpc: Add POWER10 architected mode
PVR value of 0x0F000006 means we are arch v3.1 compliant (i.e.
POWER10). This is used by phyp and kvm when booting as a pseries guest
to detect the presence of new P10 features and to enable the
appropriate hwcap and facility bits.

Alexey Kardashevskiy 74bb84e511 powerpc/prom_init: Pass the "os-term" message to hypervisor
The "os-term" RTAS calls has one argument with a message address of OS
termination cause. rtas_os_term() already passes it but the recently
added prom_init's version of that missed it; it also does not fill
args correctly.

This passes the message address and initializes the number of arguments.

Chris Packham d79fbb3a32 powerpc: Support CMDLINE_EXTEND
Bring powerpc in line with other architectures that support extending or
overriding the bootloader provided command line.

The current behaviour is most like CMDLINE_FROM_BOOTLOADER where the
bootloader command line is preferred but the kernel config can provide a
fallback so CMDLINE_FROM_BOOTLOADER is the default. CMDLINE_EXTEND can
be used to append the CMDLINE from the kernel config to the one provided
by the bootloader.

Thiago Jung Bauermann 05d9a95283 powerpc/prom_init: Undo relocation before entering secure mode
The ultravisor will do an integrity check of the kernel image but we
relocated it so the check will fail. Restore the original image by
relocating it back to the kernel virtual base address.

This works because during build vmlinux is linked with an expected

Make the Enter-Secure-Mode (ESM) ultravisor call to switch the VM to secure
mode. Pass kernel base address and FDT address so that the Ultravisor is
able to verify the integrity of the VM using information from the ESM blob.

Add "svm=" command line option to turn on switching to secure mode.

Christophe Leroy 63ce271b5e powerpc/prom: convert PROM_BUG() to standard trap
Prior to commit 1bd98d7fbaf5 ("ppc64: Update BUG handling based on
ppc32"), BUG() family was using BUG_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION which
was an invalid instruction opcode to trap into program check
exception.

That commit converted them to using standard trap instructions,
but prom/prom_init and their PROM_BUG() macro were left over.
head_64.S and exception-64s.S were left aside as well.

Convert them to using the standard BUG infrastructure.

Christophe Leroy c21f5a9ed8 powerpc/32s: fix booting with CONFIG_PPC_EARLY_DEBUG_BOOTX
When booting through OF, setup_disp_bat() does nothing because
disp_BAT are not set. By change, it used to work because BOOTX
buffer is mapped 1:1 at address 0x81000000 by the bootloader, and
btext_setup_display() sets virt addr same as phys addr.

But since commit 215b823707 ("powerpc/32s: set up an early static
hash table for KASAN."), a temporary page table overrides the
bootloader mapping.

This 0x81000000 is also problematic with the newly implemented
Kernel Userspace Access Protection (KUAP) because it is within user
address space.

This patch fixes those issues by properly setting disp_BAT through
a call to btext_prepare_BAT(), allowing setup_disp_bat() to
properly setup BAT3 for early bootx screen buffer access.

Greg Kurz a3bf9fbdad powerpc/pseries: Fix xive=off command line
On POWER9, if the hypervisor supports XIVE exploitation mode, the
guest OS will unconditionally requests for the XIVE interrupt mode
even if XIVE was deactivated with the kernel command line xive=off.
Later on, when the spapr XIVE init code handles xive=off, it disables
XIVE and tries to fall back on the legacy mode XICS.

This discrepency causes a kernel panic because the hypervisor is
configured to provide the XIVE interrupt mode to the guest :

case. One exception though: if the host only supports XIVE, we still
want to boot so we ignore xive=off.

supports XIVE.

Benjamin Herrenschmidt 11fdb30934 powerpc/prom_init: Remove support for OPAL v2
We removed support for running under any OPAL version
earlier than v3 in 2015 (they never saw the light of day
anyway), but we kept some leftovers of this support in
prom_init.c, so let's take it out.

Benjamin Herrenschmidt e63334e556 powerpc/prom_init: Replace __initdata with __prombss when applicable
This replaces all occurrences of __initdata for uninitialized
data with a new __prombss

Currently __promdata is defined to be __initdata but we'll
eventually change that.

Suraj Jitindar Singh ab91239942 powerpc/prom: Remove VLA in prom_check_platform_support()
In prom_check_platform_support() we retrieve and parse the
"ibm,arch-vec-5-platform-support" property of the chosen node.
Currently we use a variable length array however to avoid this use an
array of constant length 8.

This property is used to indicate the supported options of vector 5
bytes 23-26 of the ibm,architecture.vec node. Each of these options
is a pair of bytes, thus for 4 options we have a max length of 8 bytes.
