Let's support __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SWP_EXCLUSIVE by stealing one bit from the
offset. This reduces the maximum swap space per file to 16 GiB (was 32
GiB).
We might actually be able to reuse one of the other software bits
(_PAGE_READ / PAGE_WRITE) instead, because we only have to keep
pte_present(), pte_none() and HW happy. For now, let's keep it simple
because there might be something non-obvious.

Current arch_cpu_idle() is called with IRQs disabled, but will return
with IRQs enabled.
However, the very first thing the generic code does after calling
arch_cpu_idle() is raw_local_irq_disable(). This means that
architectures that can idle with IRQs disabled end up doing a
pointless 'enable-disable' dance.
Therefore, push this IRQ disabling into the idle function, meaning
that those architectures can avoid the pointless IRQ state flipping.

The RNG always mixes in the Linux version extremely early in boot. It
also always includes a cycle counter, not only during early boot, but
each and every time it is invoked prior to being fully initialized.
Together, this means that the use of additional xors inside of the
various stackprotector.h files is superfluous and over-complicated.
Instead, we can get exactly the same thing, but better, by just calling
`get_random_canary()`.

The csky rseq support has been merged without ever notifying the rseq
maintainers, and without any of the required asssembler glue in the rseq
selftests, which means it is entirely untested.
It is also derived from a non-upstream riscv patch which has known bugs.
The assembly part of this revert should be carefully reviewed by the
architecture maintainer because it touches code which has changed since
the merge of the reverted patch.
The rseq selftests assembly glue should be introduced at the same time
as the architecture rseq support. Without the presence of any test, I
recommend reverting rseq support from csky for now.

Most architectures (except arm64/x86/sparc) simply return 1 for
kern_addr_valid(), which is only used in read_kcore(), and it calls
copy_from_kernel_nofault() which could check whether the address is a
valid kernel address. So as there is no need for kern_addr_valid(), let's
remove it.

Kbuild puts the objects listed in head-y at the head of vmlinux.
Conventionally, we do this for head*.S, which contains the kernel entry
point.
A counter approach is to control the section order by the linker script.
Actually, the code marked as __HEAD goes into the ".head.text" section,
which is placed before the normal ".text" section.
I do not know if both of them are needed. From the build system
perspective, head-y is not mandatory. If you can achieve the proper code
placement by the linker script only, it would be cleaner.
I collected the current head-y objects into head-object-list.txt. It is
a whitelist. My hope is it will be reduced in the long run.

The objects placed at the head of vmlinux need special treatments:
- arch/$(SRCARCH)/Makefile adds them to head-y in order to place
them before other archives in the linker command line.
- arch/$(SRCARCH)/kernel/Makefile adds them to extra-y instead of
obj-y to avoid them going into built-in.a.
This commit gets rid of the latter.
Create vmlinux.a to collect all the objects that are unconditionally
linked to vmlinux. The objects listed in head-y are moved to the head
of vmlinux.a by using 'ar m'.
With this, arch/$(SRCARCH)/kernel/Makefile can consistently use obj-y
for builtin objects.
There is no *.o that is directly linked to vmlinux. Drop unneeded code
in scripts/clang-tools/gen_compile_commands.py.
$(AR) mPi needs 'T' to workaround the llvm-ar bug. The fix was suggested
by Nathan Chancellor [1].

doc.2022.06.21a: Documentation updates.
fixes.2022.07.19a: Miscellaneous fixes.
nocb.2022.07.19a: Callback-offload updates, perhaps most notably a new
RCU_NOCB_CPU_DEFAULT_ALL Kconfig option that causes all CPUs to
be offloaded at boot time, regardless of kernel boot parameters.
This is useful to battery-powered systems such as ChromeOS
and Android. In addition, a new RCU_NOCB_CPU_CB_BOOST kernel
boot parameter prevents offloaded callbacks from interfering
with real-time workloads and with energy-efficiency mechanisms.
poll.2022.07.21a: Polled grace-period updates, perhaps most notably
making these APIs account for both normal and expedited grace
periods.
rcu-tasks.2022.06.21a: Tasks RCU updates, perhaps most notably reducing
the CPU overhead of RCU tasks trace grace periods by more than
a factor of two on a system with 15,000 tasks. The reduction
is expected to increase with the number of tasks, so it seems
reasonable to hypothesize that a system with 150,000 tasks might
see a 20-fold reduction in CPU overhead.
torture.2022.06.21a: Torture-test updates.
ctxt.2022.07.05a: Updates that merge RCU's dyntick-idle tracking into
context tracking, thus reducing the overhead of transitioning to
kernel mode from either idle or nohz_full userspace execution
for kernels that track context independently of RCU. This is
expected to be helpful primarily for kernels built with
CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL=y.

Enable qspinlock by the requirements mentioned in a8ad07e524
("asm-generic: qspinlock: Indicate the use of mixed-size atomics").
C-SKY only has "ldex/stex" for all atomic operations. So csky give a
strong forward guarantee for "ldex/stex." That means when ldex grabbed
the cache line into $L1, it would block other cores from snooping the
address with several cycles. The atomic_fetch_add & xchg16 has the same
forward guarantee level in C-SKY.
Qspinlock has better code size and performance in a fast path.

The setup_profiling_timer() is mostly un-implemented by many
architectures. In many places it isn't guarded by CONFIG_PROFILE which is
needed for it to be used. Make it a weak symbol in kernel/profile.c and
remove the 'return -EINVAL' implementations from the kenrel.
There are a couple of architectures which do return 0 from the
setup_profiling_timer() function but they don't seem to do anything else
with it. To keep the /proc compatibility for now, leave these for a
future update or removal.
On ARM, this fixes the following sparse warning:
arch/arm/kernel/smp.c:793:5: warning: symbol 'setup_profiling_timer' was not declared. Should it be static?

It is less verbose and it improves the semantic.
While at it, turn a bitmap_clear() into an equivalent bitmap_zero(). It is
also less verbose.

This looks to be something that was accidentally left out on the csky port.
Define ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE to keep it inline with other ports.
Adding ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE enables the definition of modern
pci_mmap_resource_range() functions which is generally what new ports
should be using.

pci_get_legacy_ide_irq() is only used on platforms that support PNP, so
many architectures define it but never use it. Replace uses of it with
ATA_PRIMARY_IRQ() and ATA_SECONDARY_IRQ(), which provide the same

architecture-specific definitions of it as well as asm-generic/pci.h, which
only provides pci_get_legacy_ide_irq()

The previous patch removed the tlb_flush_end() implementation which
used tlb_flush_range(). This means:
- csky did double invalidates, a range invalidate per vma and a full
invalidate at the end
- csky actually has range invalidates and as such the generic
tlb_flush implementation is more efficient for it.

Scattered across the archs are 3 basic forms of tlb_{start,end}_vma().
Provide two new MMU_GATHER_knobs to enumerate them and remove the per
arch tlb_{start,end}_vma() implementations.
- MMU_GATHER_NO_FLUSH_CACHE indicates the arch has flush_cache_range()
but does *NOT* want to call it for each VMA.
- MMU_GATHER_MERGE_VMAS indicates the arch wants to merge the
invalidate across multiple VMAs if possible.
With these it is possible to capture the three forms:
1) empty stubs;
select MMU_GATHER_NO_FLUSH_CACHE and MMU_GATHER_MERGE_VMAS
2) start: flush_cache_range(), end: empty;
select MMU_GATHER_MERGE_VMAS
3) start: flush_cache_range(), end: flush_tlb_range();
default
Obviously, if the architecture does not have flush_cache_range() then
it also doesn't need to select MMU_GATHER_NO_FLUSH_CACHE.

Patch series "arch: make PxD_ORDER generically available", v2.
The question what does PxD_ORDER define raises from time to time and
there is still a conflict between MIPS and DAX definitions.
Some time ago Matthew Wilcox suggested to use PMD_TABLE_ORDER to define
the order of page table allocation:
[1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-arch/YPCJftSTUBEnq2lI@casper.infradead.org/
The parisc patch made it in, but mips didn't.
Now mips defines from asm/include/pgtable.h were copied to loongarch which
made it worse.
Let's deal with it once and for all and rename PxD_ORDER defines to
PxD_TABLE_ORDER or just drop them when the only possible order of page
table is 0.
This patch (of 15):
This is the order of the page table allocation, not the order of a PTE.
Since its always hardwired to 0, simply drop it.
