Christoph Hellwig 53ac39fdb3 xfs: lift cursor copy in/out into xfs_ioc_attr_list
Lift the common code to copy the cursor from and to user space into
xfs_ioc_attr_list.  Note that this means we copy in twice now as
the cursor is in the middle of the conaining structure, but we never
touch the memory for the original copy.  Doing so keeps the cursor
handling isolated in the common helper.

Christoph Hellwig 3e7a779937 xfs: move the legacy xfs_attr_list to xfs_ioctl.c
The old xfs_attr_list code is only used by the attrlist by handle
ioctl.  Move it to xfs_ioctl.c with its user.  Also move the
attrlist and attrlist_ent structure to xfs_fs.h, as they are exposed
user ABIs.  They are used through libattr headers with the same name
by at least xfsdump.  Also document this relation so that it doesn't
require a research project to figure out.

Christoph Hellwig e513e25c38 xfs: remove ATTR_KERNOVAL
We can just pass down the Linux convention of a zero valuelen to just
query for the existance of an attribute to the low-level code instead.
The use in the legacy xfs_attr_list code only used by the ioctl
interface was already dead code, as the callers check that the flag
is not present.

Christoph Hellwig d0ce643911 xfs: factor out a helper for a single XFS_IOC_ATTRMULTI_BY_HANDLE op
Add a new helper to handle a single attr multi ioctl operation that
can be shared between the native and compat ioctl implementation.

There is a slight change in behaviour in that we don't break out of the
loop when copying in the attribute name fails.  The previous behaviour
was rather inconsistent here as it continued for any other kind of
error, and that we don't clear the flags in the structure returned
to userspace, a behavior only introduced as a bug fix in the last
merge window.

Christoph Hellwig 2282a9e651 xfs: use strndup_user in XFS_IOC_ATTRMULTI_BY_HANDLE
Simplify the user copy code by using strndup_user.  This means that we
now do one memory allocation per operation instead of one per ioctl,
but memory allocations are cheap compared to the actual file system
operations.  Also the error for an invalid path is now EINVAL or EFAULT
instead of the previous odd and undocumented ERANGE.

The Linux xattr and acl APIs use a single call for set and remove.
Modify the high-level XFS API to match that and let xfs_attr_set handle

Christoph Hellwig 4d542e4c1e xfs: reject invalid flags combinations in XFS_IOC_ATTRLIST_BY_HANDLE
While the flags field in the ABI and the on-disk format allows for
multiple namespace flags, an attribute can only exist in a single
namespace at a time. Hence asking to list attributes that exist
in multiple namespaces simultaneously is a logically invalid
request and will return no results. Reject this case early with
-EINVAL.

Brian Foster 211683b21d xfs: rework collapse range into an atomic operation
The collapse range operation uses a unique transaction and ilock
cycle for the hole punch and each extent shift iteration of the
overall operation. While the hole punch is safe as a separate
operation due to the iolock, cycling the ilock after each extent
shift is risky w.r.t. concurrent operations, similar to insert range.

To avoid this problem, make collapse range atomic with respect to
ilock. Hold the ilock across the entire operation, replace the
individual transactions with a single rolling transaction sequence
and finish dfops on each iteration to perform pending frees and roll
the transaction. Remove the unnecessary quota reservation as
collapse range can only ever merge extents (and thus remove extent
records and potentially free bmap blocks). The dfops call
automatically relogs the inode to keep it moving in the log. This
guarantees that nothing else can change the extent mapping of an
inode while a collapse range operation is in progress.

Brian Foster dd87f87d87 xfs: rework insert range into an atomic operation

operations in subtle ways such as COW writeback modifying an extent
tree in the middle of a shift operation.

To avoid this problem, make insert range atomic with respect to

and relog the inode to keep it moving in the log. This guarantees
that nothing else can change the extent mapping of an inode while
an insert range operation is in progress.

Brian Foster b73df17e4c xfs: open code insert range extent split helper
The insert range operation currently splits the extent at the target
offset in a separate transaction and lock cycle from the one that
shifts extents. In preparation for reworking insert range into an
atomic operation, lift the code into the caller so it can be easily
condensed to a single rolling transaction and lock cycle and
eliminate the helper. No functional changes.

Qian Cai 4982bff1ac xfs: fix an undefined behaviour in _da3_path_shift
In xfs_da3_path_shift() "blk" can be assigned to state->path.blk[-1] if
state->path.active is 1 (which is a valid state) when it tries to add an
entry to a single dir leaf block and then to shift forward to see if
there's a sibling block that would be a better place to put the new
entry. This causes a UBSAN warning given negative array indices are
undefined behavior in C. In practice the warning is entirely harmless
given that "blk" is never dereferenced in this case, but it is still
better to fix up the warning and slightly improve the code.

Christoph Hellwig ba8adad5d0 xfs: remove the kuid/kgid conversion wrappers
Remove the XFS wrappers for converting from and to the kuid/kgid types.
Mostly this means switching to VFS i_{u,g}id_{read,write} helpers, but
in a few spots the calls to the conversion functions is open coded.
To match the use of sb->s_user_ns in the helpers and other file systems,
sb->s_user_ns is also used in the quota code.  The ACL code already does
the conversion in a grotty layering violation in the VFS xattr code,
so it keeps using init_user_ns for the identity mapping.

Darrick J. Wong 93baa55af1 xfs: improve error message when we can't allocate memory for xfs_buf
If xfs_buf_get_map can't allocate enough memory for the buffer it's
trying to create, it'll cough up an error about not being able to
allocate "pagesn".  That's not particularly helpful (and if we're really
out of memory the message is very spammy) so change the message to tell
us how many pages were actually requested, and ratelimit it too.

We recently used fuzz(hydra) to test XFS and automatically generate
tmp.img(XFS v5 format, but some metadata is wrong)

Users do not know why this page is discard, the better soultion is:
1. Like xfs_repair, make sure sb_fdblocks is equal to counted
(xfs_initialize_perag_data did this, who is not called at this mount)
2. Add agf verify, if fail, will tell users to repair

This patch use the second soultion.

Brian Foster 6b789c337a xfs: fix iclog release error check race with shutdown
Prior to commit df732b29c8 ("xfs: call xlog_state_release_iclog with
l_icloglock held"), xlog_state_release_iclog() always performed a
locked check of the iclog error state before proceeding into the
sync state processing code. As of this commit, part of
xlog_state_release_iclog() was open-coded into
xfs_log_release_iclog() and as a result the locked error state check
was lost.

The lockless check still exists, but this doesn't account for the
possibility of a race with a shutdown being performed by another
task causing the iclog state to change while the original task waits
on ->l_icloglock. This has reproduced very rarely via generic/475
and manifests as an assert failure in __xlog_state_release_iclog()
due to an unexpected iclog state.

Restore the locked error state check in xlog_state_release_iclog()
to ensure that an iclog state update via shutdown doesn't race with
the iclog release state processing code.

  they can be shared or kept private and if some turn out to be widely
  useful, we can make them common library helpers, etc., without having

Darrick J. Wong cdbcf82b86 xfs: fix xfs_buf_ioerror_alert location reporting
Instead of passing __func__ to the error reporting function, let's use
the return address builtins so that the messages actually tell you which
higher level function called the buffer functions.  This was previously
true for the xfs_buf_read callers, but not for the xfs_trans_read_buf
callers.

Notice how the amd64 compiler inserts 4 bytes of padding to the end of
the structure to ensure 8-byte alignment.  Prior to "xfs: fix memory
corruption during remote attr value buffer invalidation" we would try to
write to blf_data_map[17], which is harmless on amd64 but really bad on
i386.

This shouldn't cause any changes in the ondisk logging formats because
the log code writes out the log vectors with the appropriate size for
the log item's map_size, and log recovery treats the data_map array as a
VLA.

Darrick J. Wong e8db2aafce xfs: fix memory corruption during remote attr value buffer invalidation
While running generic/103, I observed what looks like memory corruption
and (with slub debugging turned on) a slub redzone warning on i386 when
inactivating an inode with a 64k remote attr value.

On a v5 filesystem, maximally sized remote attr values require one block
more than 64k worth of space to hold both the remote attribute value
header (64 bytes).  On a 4k block filesystem this results in a 68k
buffer; on a 64k block filesystem, this would be a 128k buffer.  Note
that even though we'll never use more than 65,600 bytes of this buffer,
XFS_MAX_BLOCKSIZE is 64k.

This is a problem because the definition of struct xfs_buf_log_format
allows for XFS_MAX_BLOCKSIZE worth of dirty bitmap (64k).  On i386 when we
invalidate a remote attribute, xfs_trans_binval zeroes all 68k worth of
the dirty map, writing right off the end of the log item and corrupting
memory.  We've gotten away with this on x86_64 for years because the
compiler inserts a u32 padding on the end of struct xfs_buf_log_format.

Fortunately for us, remote attribute values are written to disk with
xfs_bwrite(), which is to say that they are not logged.  Fix the problem
by removing all places where we could end up creating a buffer log item
for a remote attribute value and leave a note explaining why.  Next,
replace the open-coded buffer invalidation with a call to the helper we
created in the previous patch that does better checking for bad metadata
before marking the buffer stale.

Darrick J. Wong 932befe39d xfs: fix s_maxbytes computation on 32-bit kernels
I observed a hang in generic/308 while running fstests on a i686 kernel.
The hang occurred when trying to purge the pagecache on a large sparse
file that had a page created past MAX_LFS_FILESIZE, which caused an
integer overflow in the pagecache xarray and resulted in an infinite
loop.

I then noticed that Linus changed the definition of MAX_LFS_FILESIZE in
commit 0cc3b0ec23 ("Clarify (and fix) MAX_LFS_FILESIZE macros") so
that it is now one page short of the maximum page index on 32-bit
kernels.  Because the XFS function to compute max offset open-codes the
2005-era MAX_LFS_FILESIZE computation and neither the vfs nor mm perform
any sanity checking of s_maxbytes, the code in generic/308 can create a
page above the pagecache's limit and kaboom.

Fix all this by setting s_maxbytes to MAX_LFS_FILESIZE directly and
aborting the mount with a warning if our assumptions ever break.  I have
no answer for why this seems to have been broken for years and nobody
noticed.

Darrick J. Wong 4bbb04abb4 xfs: truncate should remove all blocks, not just to the end of the page cache
xfs_itruncate_extents_flags() is supposed to unmap every block in a file
from EOF onwards.  Oddly, it uses s_maxbytes as the upper limit to the
bunmapi range, even though s_maxbytes reflects the highest offset the
pagecache can support, not the highest offset that XFS supports.

The result of this confusion is that if you create a 20T file on a
64-bit machine, mount the filesystem on a 32-bit machine, and remove the
file, we leak everything above 16T.  Fix this by capping the bunmapi
request at the maximum possible block offset, not s_maxbytes.

This helps to pre-simplify the extra handling of the null terminator in
delayed operations which use memcpy rather than strlen.  Later
when we introduce parent pointers, attribute names will become binary,
so strlen will not work at all.  Removing uses of strlen now will
help reduce complexities later

XFS_ATTR_INCOMPLETE is a flag in the on-disk attribute format, and thus
in a different namespace as the ATTR_* flags in xfs_da_args.flags.
Switch to using a XFS_DA_OP_INCOMPLETE flag in op_flags instead.  Without
this users might be able to inject this flag into operations using the
attr by handle ioctl.

Arnd Bergmann b8a0880a37 xfs: quota: move to time64_t interfaces
As a preparation for removing the 32-bit time_t type and
all associated interfaces, change xfs to use time64_t and
ktime_get_real_seconds() for the quota housekeeping.

This avoids one difference between 32-bit and 64-bit kernels,
raising the theoretical limit for the quota grace period
to year 2106 on 32-bit instead of year 2038.

Note that common user space tools using the XFS quotactl
interface instead of the generic one still use the y2038
dates.

To fix quotas properly, both the on-disk format and user
space still need to be changed.

Vivek Goyal 3f666c56c6 dax: Pass dax_dev instead of bdev to dax_writeback_mapping_range()
As of now dax_writeback_mapping_range() takes "struct block_device" as a
parameter and dax_dev is searched from bdev name. This also involves taking
a fresh reference on dax_dev and putting that reference at the end of
function.

We are developing a new filesystem virtio-fs and using dax to access host
page cache directly. But there is no block device. IOW, we want to make
use of dax but want to get rid of this assumption that there is always
a block device associated with dax_dev.

So pass in "struct dax_device" as parameter instead of bdev.

ext2/ext4/xfs are current users and they already have a reference on
dax_device. So there is no need to take reference and drop reference to
dax_device on each call of this function.

Darrick J. Wong 13eaec4b2a xfs: don't commit sunit/swidth updates to disk if that would cause repair failures
Alex Lyakas reported[1] that mounting an xfs filesystem with new sunit
and swidth values could cause xfs_repair to fail loudly.  The problem
here is that repair calculates the where mkfs should have allocated the
root inode, based on the superblock geometry.  The allocation decisions
depend on sunit, which means that we really can't go updating sunit if
it would lead to a subsequent repair failure on an otherwise correct
filesystem.

Port from xfs_repair some code that computes the location of the root
inode and teach mount to skip the ondisk update if it would cause
problems for repair.  Along the way we'll update the documentation,
provide a function for computing the minimum AGFL size instead of
open-coding it, and cut down some indenting in the mount code.

Note that we allow the mount to proceed (and new allocations will
reflect this new geometry) because we've never screened this kind of
thing before.  We'll have to wait for a new future incompat feature to
enforce correct behavior, alas.

Note that the geometry reporting always uses the superblock values, not
the incore ones, so that is what xfs_info and xfs_growfs will report.

If the administrator provided a sunit= mount option, we need to validate
the raw parameter, convert the mount option units (512b blocks) into the
internal unit (fs blocks), and then validate that the (now cooked)
parameter doesn't screw anything up on disk.  The incore inode geometry
computation can depend on the new sunit option, but a subsequent patch
will make validating the cooked value depends on the computed inode
geometry, so break the sunit update into two steps.

Brian Foster 826f7e3413 xfs: use bitops interface for buf log item AIL flag check
The xfs_log_item flags were converted to atomic bitops as of commit
22525c17ed ("xfs: log item flags are racy"). The assert check for
AIL presence in xfs_buf_item_relse() still uses the old value based
check. This likely went unnoticed as XFS_LI_IN_AIL evaluates to 0
and causes the assert to unconditionally pass. Fix up the check.

Omar Sandoval reported that a 4G fallocate on the realtime device causes
filesystem shutdowns due to a log reservation overflow that happens when
we log the rtbitmap updates.  Factor rtbitmap/rtsummary updates into the
the tr_write and tr_itruncate log reservation calculation.

Brian Foster d0c2204135 xfs: stabilize insert range start boundary to avoid COW writeback race
generic/522 (fsx) occasionally fails with a file corruption due to
an insert range operation. The primary characteristic of the
corruption is a misplaced insert range operation that differs from
the requested target offset. The reason for this behavior is a race
between the extent shift sequence of an insert range and a COW
writeback completion that causes a front merge with the first extent
in the shift.

The shift preparation function flushes and unmaps from the target
offset of the operation to the end of the file to ensure no
modifications can be made and page cache is invalidated before file
data is shifted. An insert range operation then splits the extent at
the target offset, if necessary, and begins to shift the start
offset of each extent starting from the end of the file to the start
offset. The shift sequence operates at extent level and so depends
on the preparation sequence to guarantee no changes can be made to
the target range during the shift. If the block immediately prior to
the target offset was dirty and shared, however, it can undergo
writeback and move from the COW fork to the data fork at any point
during the shift. If the block is contiguous with the block at the
start offset of the insert range, it can front merge and alter the
start offset of the extent. Once the shift sequence reaches the
target offset, it shifts based on the latest start offset and
silently changes the target offset of the operation and corrupts the
file.

To address this problem, update the shift preparation code to
stabilize the start boundary along with the full range of the
insert. Also update the existing corruption check to fail if any
extent is shifted with a start offset behind the target offset of
the insert range. This prevents insert from racing with COW
writeback completion and fails loudly in the event of an unexpected
extent shift.

Brian Foster 798a9cada4 xfs: fix mount failure crash on invalid iclog memory access
syzbot (via KASAN) reports a use-after-free in the error path of
xlog_alloc_log(). Specifically, the iclog freeing loop doesn't
handle the case of a fully initialized ->l_iclog linked list.
Instead, it assumes that the list is partially constructed and NULL
terminated.

This bug manifested because there was no possible error scenario
after iclog list setup when the original code was added.  Subsequent
code and associated error conditions were added some time later,
while the original error handling code was never updated. Fix up the
error loop to terminate either on a NULL iclog or reaching the end
of the list.

Omar Sandoval 69ffe5960d xfs: don't check for AG deadlock for realtime files in bunmapi
Commit 5b094d6dac ("xfs: fix multi-AG deadlock in xfs_bunmapi") added
a check in __xfs_bunmapi() to stop early if we would touch multiple AGs
in the wrong order. However, this check isn't applicable for realtime
files. In most cases, it just makes us do unnecessary commits. However,
without the fix from the previous commit ("xfs: fix realtime file data
space leak"), if the last and second-to-last extents also happen to have
different "AG numbers", then the break actually causes __xfs_bunmapi()
to return without making any progress, which sends
xfs_itruncate_extents_flags() into an infinite loop.

Omar Sandoval 0c4da70c83 xfs: fix realtime file data space leak
Realtime files in XFS allocate extents in rextsize units. However, the
written/unwritten state of those extents is still tracked in blocksize
units. Therefore, a realtime file can be split up into written and
unwritten extents that are not necessarily aligned to the realtime
extent size. __xfs_bunmapi() has some logic to handle these various
corner cases. Consider how it handles the following case:

1. The last extent is unwritten.
2. The last extent is smaller than the realtime extent size.
3. startblock of the last extent is not aligned to the realtime extent
   size, but startblock + blockcount is.

In this case, __xfs_bunmapi() calls xfs_bmap_add_extent_unwritten_real()
to set the second-to-last extent to unwritten. This should merge the
last and second-to-last extents, so __xfs_bunmapi() moves on to the
second-to-last extent.

However, if the size of the last and second-to-last extents combined is
greater than MAXEXTLEN, xfs_bmap_add_extent_unwritten_real() does not
merge the two extents. When that happens, __xfs_bunmapi() skips past the
last extent without unmapping it, thus leaking the space.

Fix it by only unwriting the minimum amount needed to align the last
extent to the realtime extent size, which is guaranteed to merge with
the last extent.

Peter Zijlstra 04ae87a520 ftrace: Rework event_create_dir()
Rework event_create_dir() to use an array of static data instead of
function pointers where possible.

The problem is that it would call the function pointer on module load
before parse_args(), possibly even before jump_labels were initialized.
Luckily the generated functions don't use jump_labels but it still seems
fragile. It also gets in the way of changing when we make the module map
executable.

The generated function are basically calling trace_define_field() with a
bunch of static arguments. So instead of a function, capture these
arguments in a static array, avoiding the function call.

Now there are a number of cases where the fields are dynamic (syscall
arguments, kprobes and uprobes), in which case a static array does not
work, for these we preserve the function call. Luckily all these cases
are not related to modules and so we can retain the function call for
them.

Also fix up all broken tracepoint definitions that now generate a
compile error.

Brian Foster 2a2b5932db xfs: fix attr leaf header freemap.size underflow
The leaf format xattr addition helper xfs_attr3_leaf_add_work()
adjusts the block freemap in a couple places. The first update drops
the size of the freemap that the caller had already selected to
place the xattr name/value data. Before the function returns, it
also checks whether the entries array has encroached on a freemap
range by virtue of the new entry addition. This is necessary because
the entries array grows from the start of the block (but end of the
block header) towards the end of the block while the name/value data
grows from the end of the block in the opposite direction. If the
associated freemap is already empty, however, size is zero and the
subtraction underflows the field and causes corruption.

This is reproduced rarely by generic/070. The observed behavior is
that a smaller sized freemap is aligned to the end of the entries
list, several subsequent xattr additions land in larger freemaps and
the entries list expands into the smaller freemap until it is fully
consumed and then underflows. Note that it is not otherwise a
corruption for the entries array to consume an empty freemap because
the nameval list (i.e. the firstused pointer in the xattr header)
starts beyond the end of the corrupted freemap.

Update the freemap size modification to account for the fact that
the freemap entry can be empty and thus stale.

Thes ioctls set DMAPI specific flags in the on-disk inode, but there is
no way to actually ever query those flags.  The only known user is
xfsrestore with the -D option, which is documented to be only useful
inside a DMAPI enviroment, which isn't supported by upstream XFS.

Arnd Bergmann e8777b27ca xfs: avoid time_t in user api
The ioctl definitions for XFS_IOC_SWAPEXT, XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT and
XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT_SINGLE are part of libxfs and based on time_t.

The definition for time_t differs between current kernels and coming
32-bit libc variants that define it as 64-bit. For most ioctls, that
means the kernel has to be able to handle two different command codes
based on the different structure sizes.

The same solution could be applied for XFS_IOC_SWAPEXT, but it would
not work for XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT and XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT_SINGLE because
the structure with the time_t is passed through an indirect pointer,
and the command number itself is based on struct xfs_fsop_bulkreq,
which does not differ based on time_t.

This means any solution that can be applied requires a change of the
ABI definition in the xfs_fs.h header file, as well as doing the same
change in any user application that contains a copy of this header.

The usual solution would be to define a replacement structure and
use conditional compilation for the ioctl command codes to use
one or the other, such as

After this, the kernel would be able to implement both
XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT_OLD and XFS_IOC_FSBULKSTAT_NEW handlers on
32-bit architectures with the correct ABI for either definition
of time_t.

However, as long as two observations are true, a much simpler solution
can be used:

1. xfsprogs is the only user space project that has a copy of this header
2. xfsprogs already has a replacement for all three affected ioctl commands,
   based on the xfs_bulkstat structure to pass 64-bit timestamps
   regardless of the architecture

Based on those assumptions, changing xfs_bstime to use __kernel_long_t
instead of time_t in both the kernel and in xfsprogs preserves the current
ABI for any libc definition of time_t and solves the problem of passing
64-bit timestamps to 32-bit user space.

If either of the two assumptions is invalid, more discussion is needed
for coming up with a way to fix as much of the affected user space
code as possible.

kaixuxia 93597ae8da xfs: Fix deadlock between AGI and AGF when target_ip exists in xfs_rename()
When target_ip exists in xfs_rename(), the xfs_dir_replace() call may
need to hold the AGF lock to allocate more blocks, and then invoking
the xfs_droplink() call to hold AGI lock to drop target_ip onto the
unlinked list, so we get the lock order AGF->AGI. This would break the
ordering constraint on AGI and AGF locking - inode allocation locks
the AGI, then can allocate a new extent for new inodes, locking the
AGF after the AGI.

In this patch we check whether the replace operation need more
blocks firstly. If so, acquire the agi lock firstly to preserve
locking order(AGI/AGF). Actually, the locking order problem only
occurs when we are locking the AGI/AGF of the same AG. For multiple
AGs the AGI lock will be released after the transaction committed.

Darrick J. Wong 2815a16d7f xfs: attach dquots and reserve quota blocks during unwritten conversion
In xfs_iomap_write_unwritten, we need to ensure that dquots are attached
to the inode and quota blocks reserved so that we capture in the quota
counters any blocks allocated to handle a bmbt split.  This can happen
on the first unwritten extent conversion to a preallocated sparse file
on a fresh mount.

This was found by running generic/311 with quotas enabled.  The bug
seems to have been introduced in "[XFS] rework iocore infrastructure,
remove some code and make it more" from ~2002?

Darrick J. Wong 27d9ee577d xfs: actually check xfs_btree_check_block return in xfs_btree_islastblock
Coverity points out that xfs_btree_islastblock doesn't check the return
value of xfs_btree_check_block.  Since the question "Does the cursor
point to the last block in this level?" only makes sense if the caller
previously performed a lookup or seek operation, the block should
already have been checked.

Therefore, check the return value in an ASSERT and turn the whole thing
into a static inline predicate.

There is no real need for xfs_dir2_data_freescan wrapper, so rename
xfs_dir2_data_freescan_int to xfs_dir2_data_freescan and let the
callers dereference the mount pointer from the inode.
