[ Upstream commit 3bd27a847a3a4827a948387cc8f0dbc9fa5931d5 ] Build environments might be running with different umask settings resulting in indeterministic file modes for the files contained in kheaders.tar.xz. The file itself is served with 444, i.e. world readable. Archive the files explicitly with 744,a+X to improve reproducibility across build environments. --mode=0444 is not suitable as directories need to be executable. Also, 444 makes it hard to delete all the readonly files after extraction. README
Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
