Johannes Schindelin 46a29020bb tests(git-p4): transition to the default branch name `main`
In the previous commits, we adjusted the test suite to use the branch
name `main` for initial branches.

The `git p4`-related tests are a bit harder to adjust because `git p4`
uses the ref `refs/heads/p4/master` to track the remote branches, and
for now, we do not want to change that (this might be the subject of a
future patch series). We only need to adjust for the actual initial
branch name to be changed to `main`.

This allows us to define `GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME=main`
for those tests.

Johannes Schindelin 334afbc76f tests: mark tests relying on the current default for `init.defaultBranch`
In addition to the manual adjustment to let the `linux-gcc` CI job run
the test suite with `master` and then with `main`, this patch makes sure
that GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME is set in all test scripts
that currently rely on the initial branch name being `master by default.

To determine which test scripts to mark up, the first step was to
force-set the default branch name to `master` in

- all test scripts that contain the keyword `master`,

- t4211, which expects `t/t4211/history.export` with a hard-coded ref to
  initialize the default branch,

- t5560 because it sources `t/t556x_common` which uses `master`,

- t8002 and t8012 because both source `t/annotate-tests.sh` which also
  uses `master`)

This trick was performed by this command:

	$ sed -i '/^ *\. \.\/\(test-lib\|lib-\(bash\|cvs\|git-svn\)\|gitweb-lib\)\.sh$/i\
	GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME=master\
	export GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME\
	' $(git grep -l master t/t[0-9]*.sh) \
	t/t4211*.sh t/t5560*.sh t/t8002*.sh t/t8012*.sh

After that, careful, manual inspection revealed that some of the test
scripts containing the needle `master` do not actually rely on a
specific default branch name: either they mention `master` only in a
comment, or they initialize that branch specificially, or they do not
actually refer to the current default branch. Therefore, the
aforementioned modification was undone in those test scripts thusly:

	$ git checkout HEAD -- \
		t/t0027-auto-crlf.sh t/t0060-path-utils.sh \
		t/t1011-read-tree-sparse-checkout.sh \
		t/t1305-config-include.sh t/t1309-early-config.sh \

		t/t7508-status.sh t/t7606-merge-custom.sh \
		t/t9302-fast-import-unpack-limit.sh

We excluded one set of test scripts in these commands, though: the range
of `git p4` tests. The reason? `git p4` stores the (foreign) remote
branch in the branch called `p4/master`, which is obviously not the
default branch. Manual analysis revealed that only five of these tests
actually require a specific default branch name to pass; They were
modified thusly:

	$ sed -i '/^ *\. \.\/lib-git-p4\.sh$/i\
	GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME=master\
	export GIT_TEST_DEFAULT_INITIAL_BRANCH_NAME\
	' t/t980[0167]*.sh t/t9811*.sh

Johannes Schindelin 99e37c2560 git p4 test: use 'test_atexit' to kill p4d and the watchdog process
Use 'test_atexit' to run cleanup commands to stop 'p4d' at the end of
the test script or upon interrupt or failure, as it is shorter,
simpler, and more robust than registering such cleanup commands in the
trap on EXIT in the test scripts.

Note that one of the test scripts, 't9801-git-p4-branch.sh', stops and
then re-starts 'p4d' twice in the middle of the script; take care that
the cleanup functions to stop 'p4d' are only registered once.

Note also that 'git p4' tests invoke different functions in the trap
on EXIT ('cleanup') and in the last test before 'test_done'
('kill_p4d'). Register both of these functions with 'test_atexit' for
now, and a a later patch in this series will then clean up the
redundancy.

Luke Diamand 7a10bb3a4c git-p4: add failing test for shelved CL update involving move/copy
Updating a shelved P4 changelist where one or more files have
been moved or copied does not work. Add a test for this.

The problem is that P4 requires a complete list of the files being
changed, and move/copy only includes the _source_ in the case of
updating a shelved changelist. This results in errors from Perforce
such as:

Romain Merland f55b87c1c7 git-p4: add options --commit and --disable-rebase
On a daily work with multiple local git branches, the usual way to
submit only a specified commit was to cherry-pick the commit on
master then run git-p4 submit. It can be very annoying to switch
between local branches and master, only to submit one commit. The
proposed new way is to select directly the commit you want to
submit.

Add option --commit to command 'git-p4 submit' in order to submit
only specified commit(s) in p4.

On a daily work developping software with big compilation time, one
may not want to rebase on his local git tree, in order to avoid long
recompilation.

Add option --disable-rebase to command 'git-p4 submit' in order to
disable rebase after submission.

Luke Diamand 8cf422dbf1 git-p4: update multiple shelved change lists
--update-shelve can now be specified multiple times on the
command-line, to update multiple shelved changelists in a single
submit.

This then means that a git patch series can be mirrored to a
sequence of shelved changelists, and (relatively easily) kept in
sync as changes are made in git.

Note that Perforce does not really support overlapping shelved
changelists where one change touches the files modified by
another. Trying to do this will result in merge conflicts.

Luke Diamand eff451101d git-p4: don't use name-rev to get current branch
git-p4 was using "git name-rev" to find out the current branch.

That is not safe, since if multiple branches or tags point at
the same revision, the result obtained might not be what is
expected.

Instead use "git symbolic-ref".

Luke Diamand 3d553cceb5 git-p4: add failing test for name-rev rather than symbolic-ref
Using name-rev to find the current git branch means that git-p4
does not correctly get the current branch name if there are
multiple branches pointing at HEAD, or a tag.

This change adds a test case which demonstrates the problem.
Configuring which branches are allowed to be submitted from goes
wrong, as git-p4 gets confused about which branch is in use.

This appears to be the only place that git-p4 actually cares
about the current branch.

GIRARD Etienne b7638fed42 git-p4: clean up after p4 submit failure
When "p4 submit" command fails in P4Submit.applyCommit, the
workspace is left with the changes. We already have code to revert
the changes to the workspace when the user decides to cancel
submission by aborting the editor that edits the change description,
and we should treat the "p4 submit" failure the same way.

Clean the workspace if p4_write_pipe raised SystemExit, so that the

Johannes Sixt 41ca19b6a6 tests: fix negated test_i18ngrep calls
The helper function test_i18ngrep pretends that it found the expected
results when it is running under GETTEXT_POISON. For this reason, it must

Maxime Coste b4073bb387 git-p4: Do not include diff in spec file when just preparing p4
The diff information render the spec file unusable as is by p4,
do not include it when run with --prepare-p4-only so that the
given file can be directly passed to p4.

With --prepare-p4-only, git-p4 already tells the user it can use
p4 submit with the generated spec file. This fails because of the
diff being present in the file. Not including the diff fixes that.

Without --prepare-p4-only, keeping the diff makes sense for a
quick review of the patch before submitting it. And does not cause
problems with p4 as we remove it programmatically.

Pete Wyckoff e9df0f9c7a git p4: cygwin p4 client does not mark read-only
There are some old versions of p4, compiled for cygwin, that
treat read-only files differently.

Normally, a file that is not open is read-only, meaning that
"test -w" on the file is false. This works on unix, and it works
on windows using the NT version of p4. The cygwin version
of p4, though, changes the permissions, but does not set the
windows read-only attribute, so "test -w" returns false.

Notice this oddity and make the tests work, even on cygiwn.
