</I>I have the same setup (Macbook Pro with i7, 8GB Ram, 512 GB SSD) and can
verify that there is very little difference between debugging the
application in the emulator and debugging on a real device.
When I hit 'Step over', the debugger steps over with maybe a 3 or 4
hundred milliseconds delay. Starting up a new emulator takes less then
15 seconds, and starting the application and connecting the debugger
less then ten seconds.
The emulator is noticeably slower when it comes to reading data from
disk, processing user input, and everything associated with WebView. But
it's useable. Well, not big websites, WebView really sucks in the
emulator. The pages render ok, but panning and clicking is like pulling
a spoon through Marmite.
SSDs aren't cheap. But considering the time they save you totally worth
the investment ... just like a4m ;-)
cheers, Axel
