<h1>Firefox Privacy Policy</h1>
<h2>$FIXME:[publication date]</h2>
</hgroup>
<p>This policy describes what the latest stable desktop version of Firefox does with information about you, and how Mozilla (we make
Firefox) deals with any info we get. The top part of this policy explains Firefox's general operation, and lower down you can read
about some of our specific features.</p>
<p>Except for the specific section below regarding [experimental versions](#experimental) of Firefox, this policy does not apply to
experimental versions of Firefox, such as Beta, Aurora or Nightly (which may work in unexpected ways and have new, untested features).
This policy applies to mobile versions of Firefox, except that mobile versions do not have the [Safe Browsing and Web Forgeries](#safebrowsing) features.</p>
<p>This policy also does not apply to previous versions of Firefox. Learn more about previous versions of Firefox [here]($FIXME:[link to privacy policies history page]).</p>
<h3>Experimental and Testing Versions</h3>
<p>Nightly and Aurora are the highly experimental versions of Firefox where we build, test, and try out new things. Every day, features
get added, changed, or removed and not all of them work. Some of them will break in new and exciting ways, causing things to go
horribly wrong, and some will do things that nobody expected. Beta is a more polished experimental version which tests out the next
version of Firefox for a few weeks before we officially release it. Although it's more refined than Nightly and Aurora, things are
still experimental and can break.</p>
<p>We release these early, experimental versions so that people can see what we're working on, try things out, and give us feedback.
To make this easier, Aurora and Nightly have [Telemetry](#Telemetry) turned on by default.</p>
<p>Only this section of this privacy policy applies to experimental (including Beta, Nightly or Aurora) builds of Firefox. Because
features change so frequently in our testing editions, we don't add new features to this privacy policy until they make it into the
finished version of Firefox. If you don't want to use unpredictable, experimental builds and (sometimes automatically) give us
feedback, you should stick to regular Firefox.</p>
<p>If you're using [Beta](https://mozilla.org/beta), [Aurora](https://mozilla.org/firefox/aurora/) or [Nightly](https://nightly.mozilla.org/)
versions of Firefox, An add-on called [Test Pilot](https://testpilot.mozillalabs.com/) comes pre-installed. Test Pilot has its own
[privacy policy](https://testpilot.mozillalabs.com/privacy.php).</p>
<h3>Personal Information</h3>
<p>For us, "personal information" is either:</p>
<ol>
<li>information which identifies you, like your name or email address; or </li>
<li>a combination of several pieces of information which couldn't identify you on their own, but which could become identifiable to
you when connected together.</li>
</ol>
<p>If we store personal information with other information that is not personal, we treat the combination like personal information.</p>
<p>Firefox isn't designed to collect personal information about you and send it back to Mozilla without your consent. There are some
features (like [crash reporting](#crash-reporting)) where we give you notice and you have the option to send us some personal
information.</p>
<h3>How we learn info about you</h3>
<p>There are four general ways we get information about you:</p>
<ol>
<li>You give it to us directly (like when you choose to send us crash reports).</li>
<li>We collect it automatically (like when we check whether or not your version of Firefox is up to date).</li>
<li>Someone else tells us something about you.</li>
<li>We try and understand more about you based on information you've already given us (like guessing that you're in the US because
you have a US IP address).</li>
</ol>
<p>By default, Firefox automatically sends the following information to Mozilla from time to time:</p>
<ul>
<li>Your list of [add-ons](#addons), and some version info needed keep them up-to-date, and disable them if they're broken.
[Read more](#addons) and learn how to disable these features.</li>
<li>Version and related info needed to do [automatic updates](#updates). [Read more](#updates) and learn how to disable this feature.</li>
<li>Our [Safe Browsing](#safebrowsing) feature sends some technical information to Google so that Firefox can try to protect you from
malicious sites. [Read more](#safe-browsing) and learn how to disable this feature.</li>
<li>The [Metrics system](#metrics) sends a small amount of usage information, like what version of Firefox you are using and how long
it took for Firefox to start up, among others, back to Mozilla so that we can make Firefox better. [Read more](#metrics) and learn
how to disable this feature.</li>
<li>Firefox and our and Beta builds allow you to opt-in to a feature called [Telemetry](#telemetry) that gives more granular
information about how you use Firefox. Aurora and Nightly (our unstable or alpha builds) enable Telemetry by default.
[Read more](#telemetry) and learn how to disable this feature.</li>
</ul>
<p>We've created these features to help you have a safe browsing experience and to make Firefox better. You can turn off these
features, but we don't recommend it. Turning off Safe Browsing, automatic updates or add-on updates could cause Firefox to work
improperly, or expose you to security vulnerabilities. Turning off the Metrics system will keep us from collecting information that
we need to improve Firefox and find & remove bugs.</p>
<h3>What we do with your info</h3>
<p>We use your information to help us provide better products and services to you. When you give us personal information, we will only
use it for the reasons we told you about when you gave it to us, including as described in this policy.</p>
<h3>When we share things</h3>
<p>Mozilla is an open organization, and we publish anonymized information that we think will make our products better or help foster
an open web, but only in a way that we think respects the privacy of our users. Whenever we publish information about our users in
this way, we'll remove any info that we believe can identify you and try to make sure that you can't be re-identified from any data
we publish in this way.</p>
<p>If we share your personal information, we only share it with employees, contractors and service providers who have contractually
promised to handle the data in ways that are approved by Mozilla. If our corporate structure or status changes (like if we
restructure, are acquired, or go bankrupt) we'll pass on your information to a successor or affiliate.</p>
<h3>Legal Process</h3>
<p>When a government agency or someone involved in a lawsuit asks for your personal info, we'll only give it to them if we have a good
faith belief that:</p>
<ul>
<li>the law requires us to or,</li>
<li>it is reasonably necessary to do so to prevent harm to someone.</li>
</ul>
<p>We follow the law whenever we receive requests about you like this and we'll notify you any time we are asked to hand over your
personal info like this unless we're legally prohibited from doing so, or circumstances require otherwise.</p>
<h3>How we store and protect your info</h3>
<p>We work hard to protect your information. We take steps to make sure that anyone (like an employee or contractor) we show your
personal information has a good reason to see it and is only allowed to do Mozilla-approved things with it.</p>
<p>Despite our efforts, we can't guarantee that hackers can't break in and access your data. If we find out about a security breach,
we'll try hard to let you know so that you can take appropriate protective steps. We only keep information as long as we need to do
the thing we collected it for. Once we don't need it any more, we'll destroy it unless we are forced by law to keep it longer.</p>
<h3>International Privacy</h3>
<p>Privacy laws and expectations vary from country to country. We're a global company and our computers are in several different
places around the world. We also use service providers whose computers may also be in various countries. This means that any
information we have about you might end up on one of those computers in another country, and that country may have a different level
of data protection regulation than yours.</p>
<h3>Children</h3>
<p>If you are under 13, you must not provide us with your personally identifiable information. If you are a parent and believe that
your child who is under 13 has provided us with personally identifiable information, please [contact us](#contact) to have your
child’s information removed.</p>
<h3>Changes to this policy</h3>
<p>Sometimes, we change our privacy policies. When we do, we'll post a notice about the change at <$FIXME:[link to main privacy page]>.
You should come back to check for changes. You could also subscribe to this [RSS feed]($FIXME:[privacy-policy-changes-rss-feed]) instead.</p>

<h3>Specific Features</h3>
<h4>Add-ons, Plugins, and Themes</h4>
<p>Add-ons allow you to extend Firefox by installing new features. Themes are add-ons that let you personalize the look of your browser. While
Mozilla makes some add-ons,most are made by other people. Add-ons are available from <https://addons.mozilla.org>, and some of the
add-ons-related features send and receive info from here. </p>
<h4>Get Add-ons Page</h4>
<p>The Get Add-ons pane of the Add-ons Manager (<about:addons>) displays recommendations based on the add-ons you already have installed.
To get these recommendations, Firefox Mozilla information about the add-ons you have installed, and Firefox's version. This communication
only happens when the Get Add-ons area is opened. [These instructions](http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/how-to-opt-out-of-add-on-metadata-updates/)
tell you how to turn this feature off.</p>
<h4>Add-on Information and Finding New Add-ons</h4>
<p>Once per day, Firefox communicates with Mozilla to update our information about addons. This communication includes the list of
add-ons you have installed, Firefox version information, and how long it took Firefox to start up.
[These instructions](http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/how-to-opt-out-of-add-on-metadata-updates/) tell you how to turn this feature off.
When you look for add-ons through about:addons, that request is set to Mozilla so that we can give you the results.</p>
<h4>Blocklist</h4>
<p>Once per day Firefox checks to see if you have any harmful add-ons or plug-ins installed and disables add-ons or plug-ins that we
think contain known vulnerabilities or major user-facing issues or fatal bugs (e.g., Firefox crashes on startup or something causes
an endless loop). This check sends Mozilla, Firefox's version information, your operating system, your language preference, and a
cookie. Although we think it's a really bad idea, [these instructions](http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+makes+unrequested+connections#Extension_blocklist_updating/)
tell you how to turn this feature off.</p>
<h4>Automatic Updates</h4>
<p>Firefox periodically check for updates to itself and it's add-ons. This feature sends Firefox's version information, your language
preference, your operating system, and an unique cookie to Mozilla. You can turn this feature off in Firefox’s preferences by following
[these instructions](https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20makes%20unrequested%20connections#Auto_update_checking).</p>
<h4>Crash-Reporting</h4>
<p>Whenever Firefox crashes, you have the option to send Mozilla a crash report right after Firefox crashes. These reports contain all kinds of
technical info that we hope our engineers can use to work out why Firefox crashed, and make sure that doesn't happen in future versions.
Crash reports are available online at <http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/>. If you include your email address in the email box, it doesn't get
published, but anything you put in the comments box is publically visible.</p>
<h4>Location-aware features</h4>
<p>Firefox has a feature which allows sites to request your location. If a site requests your location, Firefox asks whether you want to share
your location with that site. If you tell Firefox to let a site know where you are, Firefox may use any of the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>your operating system's geolocation feature,</li>
<li>which wifi networks are nearby (and how strong their signals are),</li>
<li>which cell phone towers are nearby (and how strong their signals are), and</li>
<li>your IP address,</li>
</ul>
<p>if available, to try and estimate your location. Estimating your location involves sending some of this info to Google's geolocation
service, which has it's own [privacy policy](http://www.google.com/privacy-lsf.html).</p>
<h4>Private Browsing</h4>
<p>If you use Firefox's private browsing mode, Firefox won't keep any browser history, search history, download history, web form history,
cookies, or temporary internet files. However, files you download and bookmarks you make will be kept. Please read [this article](https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Private%20Browsing) for more info about how it works, and what it does and doesn't do.</p>
<h4>Safe Browsing and Web Forgeries</h4>
<p><em>Not applicable to mobile versions of Firefox</em></p>
<p>Firefox tries to show a warning if the website you are visiting is suspected of impersonating a legitimate website, or trying to infiltrate
or damage your computer. Firefox checks the blacklist of suspected malicious sites about twice per hour. Using a clever scheme of hashing
URLs, sending dummy URLs, and only downloading pieces of the blacklist at a time, we try to make sure that the safe browsing service doesn't
know which sites you've visited, and that Firefox doesn't have to store the whole blacklist. If you still want to turn off this feature,
[these instructions](http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Security%20panel?bl=n&s=suspected%20web%20forgery) tells you
how.</p>
<p>You can also report suspected web forgeries whenever you encounter a suspected malicious "phishing" or fraudulent website that is
impersonating a legitimate website. This feature sends your comments about the suspected fraudulent website Google, the blacklist provider.
Google has a [privacy policy](https://code.google.com/apis/safebrowsing/firefox3_privacy.html) specifically for the blacklist.</p>
<p><em>Although we and our partners try to use a good list of suspicious sites, we can't know every malicious site. Please don't rely on this
feature to protect you all the time.</em></p>
<h4>Search Bar</h4>
<p>When you use the search bar, your search gets sent to your chosen search provider, much like if you'd typed it in on their webpage.
The search query does not get sent to Mozilla without your consent.</p>
<h4>Sync</h4>
<p>Firefox Sync is a service that allows you to keep you bookmarks, browsing history, passwords, settings and so on up to date on all your
versions of Firefox. When you use Sync, all the information you synchronize is completely encrypted from Mozilla. Firefox Sync has a privacy
policy(https://services.mozilla.com/privacy-policy/) of its own that will only apply to you if you use the Sync service.
Learn More(https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/sync/) about Sync. </p>
<h4>Usage Statistics (Metrics)</h4>
<p>The Metrics system in Firefox automatically sends a small amount of non-personally-identifiable usage information back to Mozilla. This
data is designed to help us get a feel for how Firefox is used in the real world so that we can make it better to you. Metrics collects the
following pieces of information:</p>
<ul>
<li>The version of Firefox being used, including the distributor and and release channel (Stable, Beta, Aurora, or Nightly);</li>
<li>The operating system platform Firefox is running on;</li>
<li>Firefox's uptime, startup time, and the current Firefox profile's age;</li>
<li>How many addons, bookmarks, and history items Firefox has;</li>
<li>How many times Firefox has crashed recently;</li>
<li>How often you have done web searches in different ways recently (but not the content of those searches); and</li>
<li>How long Firefox has been running and in use recently.</li>
</ul>
<p>Individual data points from Metrics are only kept for six months, after which they are irreversibly aggregated. You can see your
Metrics information at <about:metrics>. You can disable Metrics by following [these instructions]($FIXME:[link disabling metrics]),
and delete all Mozilla's Metrics data about your copy of Firefox [here]($FIXME:[link metrics killswitch]).</p>
<h4>Telemetry</h4>
<p>Telemetry is an opt-in system to allow you to send Mozilla information about performance, hardware, usage and customizations in your
copy of Firefox. Telemetry is designed to allow Mozilla engineers to test and learn about really deep technical nitty-gritty in Firefox out
in the real world, rather than in our much more controlled lab environment. This helps us fine-tune Firefox’s performance to make it better,
faster and more responsive.</p>
<p>Because the specific questions that our engineers are interested change depending which pieces of Firefox they're trying to test or improve,
the exact information that Telemetry sends Mozilla may change regularly. Telemetry is disabled by default in Firefox and Beta, but enabled by
default in Aurora and Nightly. You can follow [these instructions]($FIXME:[link to turning off Telemetry]) to turn Telemetry off.</p>

<h2>Our Principles</h2>
<p>Six core privacy principles guide our data practices and operations at Mozilla. These principles stem from the Mozilla Manifesto.
In short, we're a non-profit dedicated to putting the user in control and shaping the future of the Web for the public good. These
principles remind us that our users’ interests come first and encourage us to build a consistent approach to privacy and security:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<h4>No Surprises</h4>
<p>Only use and share information about our users for their benefit and as spelled out in our notices.</p>
</li>
<li>
<h4>Real Choices</h4>
<p>Educate users at the point that we collect any data and give them the option to opt out whenever possible.</p>
</li>
<li>
<h4>Sensible Settings </h4>
<p>Establish default settings that balance safety and user experience appropriately for each transaction.</p>
</li>
<li>
<h4>Limited Data</h4>
<p>Collect and retain the least amount of user information necessary and share data anonymously whenever possible.</p>

</li>
<li>

<h4>User Control</h4>

<h3>Analytics</h3>

<p>We use web analytics software to keep track of how many visitors we have, which links are most popular, and other information

about how people use Mozilla websites. We use this information to help make our sites more useful and usable. If you don't want

sites. If you have enabled Do Not Track in your browser, our ads on other websites will honor your request not to be tracked. For

those who are using a browser without DNT, like older versions of Firefox or browsers produced by other vendors, we provide an

<h1>Marketplace Privacy Policy</h1>

<h2>$FIXME:[publication date]</h2>
</hgroup>
<p><em>Note: The proposed full version of the Privacy Policy for the Mozilla Marketplace is currently under review and comment on our <a href="http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.governance/topics">governance
mailing list</a>. When the Mozilla Marketplace is fully launched, we will ask for your consent to the final Privacy Policy.</em></p>
<p>The Mozilla Marketplace is a publicly available market maintained by Mozilla that allows developers to distribute their Apps (applications
written using open web technologies that can run on multiple platforms) or Add-ons (extensions and themes that allow you to extend the
functionality of the Firefox browser) to users for use on any device that can access the open web. This policy describes how Mozilla deals
with any info we get with respect to the Mozilla Marketplace. We have separate privacy policies for our other products and services.</p>
<section>
<h3>What we consider to be personal information</h3>
<p>We consider "personal information" to mean either information which identifies you, like your name or email address; or a combination
of several pieces of information which couldn't identify you on their own, but which could become identifiable to you when put together.
Also, if we store personal information with other information that is not personal, we consider the combination to be personal information.</p>
<h4>How we collect information about you</h4>
<p>There are four ways we collect information about you:</p>
<ol>
<li>You give it to us directly, perhaps through a form (like when you sign up to receive our Marketplace email newsletter updates or when you purchase an App or Add-on);</li>
<li>We collect it automatically (like your IP address when your browser makes requests to our web servers);</li>
<li>Someone else tells us something about you (like when a payment provider shares your email address after you make a purchase); or</li>
<li>We try and understand more about you based on information you've already given us (like suggesting what Apps you might be interested in based on your purchase history).</li>
</ol>
<h5>Some specifics</h5>
<p>The Mozilla Marketplace uses cookies to help Mozilla identify and track visitors, their usage of Mozilla Marketplace, and their website
access preferences across multiple requests and visits to the Mozilla Marketplace in order for us to understand how users use the Mozilla
Marketplace and to make your experience better. You can opt-out of this practice by following the instructions <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/opt-out.html">here</a>.</p>
<p>When you log in with BrowserID to the Mozilla Marketplace, the BrowserID service sends us your email address. You can browse the Mozilla
Marketplace without logging in to BrowserID, however, you cannot install an App or purchase an Add-on without logging into the Mozilla
Marketplace with BrowserID. If you have an existing Mozilla Add-ons account, you will be prompted to sign in with a BrowserID account before
you can install an App or purchase an Add-on.</p>
<p>Firefox sends daily messages to Mozilla with metadata that helps ensure that you have the latest updates when you install an Add-on. Please
see the <a href="FIXME">Firefox Privacy Policy</a> for more information on our Automated Update Service. You can opt out of these messages by following the
instructions here.</p>
<p>We collect the search terms you enter to find Apps or Add-ons and your interactions with the various parts of the Marketplace to better understand, in the
aggregate, how users interact with the Mozilla Marketplace. We don’t tie this information to your BrowserID account.</p>
</section>
<section>
<h4>What we will do with your info</h4>
<p>We use your information to help us provide better products and services to you. When you give us personal information, we will use it in the manner to which you consent.</p>
<h5>Some specifics</h5>
<p>We may use your email address to inform you of transactional messages from the Mozilla Marketplace, and you may elect to receive additional communications
from us. If you signed up to receive but no longer wish to receive electronic marketing communications from Mozilla about the Mozilla
Marketplace, you can opt-out from receiving these communications by following the “unsubscribe” instructions in any such communication you
receive. You can manage the email and notification settings for Mozilla-sent email in your Marketplace Profile.</p>
<p>If you write App or Add-on reviews, create a collection, or create other content in the Mozilla Marketplace, your display name or username
will be displayed publicly. You may optionally fill in details of your public user profile, such as a homepage or profile picture, which will
be displayed publicly.</p>
<p>If you purchase an App, we sign your receipt with the BrowserID user name (usually an email address) that you registered with the Mozilla
Marketplace through BrowserID. Apps you have installed may periodically communicate with Mozilla or an App developer for purposes of
receipt/ownership verification, usage information, or other reasons as described in the individual App’s privacy policy. You should check an
App’s privacy policy to make sure you are okay with their information handling practices before installing or using an App.</p>
<p>When you purchase an App or Add-on from a developer, they may receive information about you from your selected payment provider, as described
in that payment provider’s privacy policy. We help you maintain a history of your transactional activity (like which Apps you have purchased).
No financial information (such as credit card info that you have used to make purchases in the Mozilla Marketplace) is collected, retained or used by Mozilla.</p>
<p>For an enhanced Marketplace experience, you may opt in to link your Marketplace account with your accounts on social networks. This is entirely
optional and your accounts may be un-linked by you at any time. Once your account is un-linked, we do not continue to store or use information
about your social graph or contacts from the social network you had linked. Individual Apps or Add-ons may allow you to link to your social
network accounts and you should check the privacy policy of each App or Add-on to understand how they use your info.</p>
<p>If you ask us to send an App or Add-on to your phone, we will ask for your phone number and, with your permission, save it for future convenience.
You may remove it by editing your Marketplace Profile. If you are a developer who submits an App or Add-on to the Mozilla Marketplace, we will
ask for detailed information about your product that may be displayed publicly, unless otherwise noted. If you wish to use payments in your
product, we will ask for your real legal name and address in order to validate your identity and manage the Mozilla Marketplace.</p>
<p>Add-ons installed in Firefox and other Mozilla products may check for new versions of those Add-ons with the Mozilla Marketplace each day.
Additionally, Firefox may check for updates to other metadata related to Add-ons (e.g., updated descriptions, ratings, etc.) as described in
the <a href="FIXME">Firefox Privacy Policy</a>. In aggregate, these update checks are used by Mozilla to determine the number of active users of an Add-on or App.
You may opt out of the metadata transfer as described <a href="http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/how-to-opt-out-of-add-on-metadata-updates/">here</a>, and Add-on
updates as described <a href="http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/how-to-turn-off-add-on-updates/">here</a>.</p>
<p>The Get Add-ons page of the Add-ons Manager in Firefox may include the Add-ons you have installed in order to provide relevant recommendations
of other Add-ons to install, as described in the <a href="FIXME">Firefox Privacy Policy</a>. You may opt out of this as described
<a href="http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/how-to-opt-out-of-add-on-metadata-updates/">here</a>.</p>

<h4>When we share your info</h4>
<p>Mozilla is an open organization, and we publish information that we think will make our products better or help foster an open web. Whenever we
publish information about our users, we'll remove anything that we believe can identify you.</p>
<p>If we share your personal information, we only share it with employees, contractors and service providers who have contractually promised to handle
or use the data in ways that are approved by Mozilla. If our corporate structure or status changes (e.g., if we restructure, are acquired, or
go bankrupt) we'll pass on your information to a successor or affiliate.</p>
<h5>Some specifics</h5>
<p>When you install a paid or free App, we send a digital receipt of that App to the developer of the App. This is to facilitate interactions between
you and that developer as well as allow the developer to electronically authorize uses of the App. The digital receipt contains your BrowserID username
(usually your email address) as well as other information. You can find a more detailed description of receipts and the information they contain
<a href="https://wiki.mozilla.org/Apps/WebApplicationReceipt">here</a>. Additionally, if you request support or a refund for an App or Add-on through the
Marketplace, we give the developer your email address so they can reply to you. A developer’s use of your email address or digital receipt is subject to
their privacy policy. You should check an App’s privacy policy to make sure you are okay with their information handling practices before installing or using an App.</p>
<p>We share non-personal aggregated statistics with developers on the usage of their software, such as platform (Windows, Android, etc.) and browser version
information. We provide the information as a distribution of numbers and not tied to an email address, unique ID or other identifiable piece of information.</p>
<p>Mozilla does not currently process payments on its users behalf. When you make a purchase in the Marketplace, the information that you give to your selected
payment provider is governed by that provider’s privacy policy. A list of third-party vendors that are authorized payment processors for the Marketplace
are available here.[Link TBD] Developers may also use their own payment providers – please check the privacy policy of any payment provider you use to
make sure you are comfortable with their privacy practices.</p>

<h4>How we store and protect your info</h4>

<p>We work hard to protect your information. We take steps to make sure that anyone (like an authorized employee or contractor) who sees your personal
information has a good reason and is only allowed to do Mozilla-approved things with it.</p>
<p>Despite our efforts, we can't guarantee that malicious agents can't break in and access your data. If we find out about a security breach, we'll try
hard to let you know so that you can take appropriate protective steps. We only keep information as long as we need to do the thing we collected it for.

Once we don't need it any more, we'll destroy it unless we are forced by law to keep it longer.</p>

<h3>Types of Information</h3>
<p><strong>"Personal Information"</strong> is information that you provide to us that personally identifies you, such as your name, phone number, or
email address. Except as described below, Mozilla does not collect or require end-users of Thunderbird to provide Personal Information.</p>
<p><strong>"Non-Personal Information"</strong> is information that cannot be directly associated with a specific person or entity. Non-Personal Information
includes but is not limited to your computer’s configuration and the version of Thunderbird you use.</p>
<p><strong>"Potentially Personal Information"</strong> is information that is Non-Personal Information in and of itself but that could be used in conjunction
with other information to personally identify you. For example, Uniform Resource Locators (“URLs”) (the addresses of web pages) or Internet
Protocol (“IP”) addresses (the addresses of computers on the Internet), which are Non-Personal Information in and of themselves, could be
Personal Information when combined with Internet service provider (“ISP”) records.</p>
<p><strong>“Aggregate Data”</strong> is information that is recorded about users and collected into groups so that it no longer reflects or references
an individually identifiable user.</p>
</section>
<section>
<h3>Information Collected by Thunderbird</h3>
<p>Thunderbird is software, which allows users to integrate and manage their online communications, including email and other types of
online messaging. Each Thunderbird user chooses which online accounts he or she wishes to access using Thunderbird. When you set up Thunderbird
to access your email account, you will need to enter information and credentials for that account, such as your name, email address, and password.
Thunderbird stores this information on your computer.</p>
<p>In addition to your credentials, Thunderbird needs certain Non-Personal, technical information from your account providers to configure
each email account you use. This includes details about which servers to connect to and the protocols and settings that they use. To simplify
the set-up process, Thunderbird tries to locate this information for you. During this setup process, Thunderbird may try to contact external
DNS servers, standard autoconfiguration URIs, and Mozilla's configuration database to try and work the settings needed for your account. This
may involve sending part or all of your email address, but never involves sending your password. When Thunderbird does this, the parties
contacted may retain logs of those requests.</p>
<p>Thunderbird stores other information on your computer, including information you enter in your Thunderbird address book and copies of your
email messages. Thunderbird stores this information locally on your computer and does not transmit it to Mozilla.</p>

<section>
<h3>Information Thunderbird Sends to Websites, Email Providers, and ISPs</h3>
<p>Thunderbird includes web-browser-like features, such as the ability to subscribe to and view RSS feeds and web pages. When you use these
web-based functions, Thunderbird automatically sends Non-Personal and Potentially Personal Information along with your request. This may
include, for example, the type of browser you are using, your language preference, the referring site, and your IP address. Whenever you
send or receive email, Thunderbird attaches similar information in the communication to your email provider and to email recipient(s).</p>
<p>Like other messaging products, any information sent by Thunderbird may be logged by the websites you access, your email provider and
recipients, the internet service provider you are using, or any intermediary network between you and them. What information is logged and
how that information is used depends on the policies of each of these different parties, and is outside Mozilla's control. Each website
and service provider determines its own privacy practices for the distribution and use of this Non-Personal Information and Potentially
Personal Information. If you are concerned about how a website or service provider will use this information, check out its privacy policy.
To find out more about how Mozilla uses this information on its own websites and services, see the Mozilla Privacy Policy.</p>
<p>Whenever you send or receive email, that message is transmitted over the Internet through a connection that is unencrypted, an unscrupulous
intermediary may be able to read or modify your messages. You can gain some additional measure of protection by only communicating with your
email provider using an encrypted protocol, but this is not a complete protection.</p>

<section>
<h3>Tracking and Cookies</h3>
<p>When you use Thunderbird’s web-browser features to access a website, the website may place cookies on your computer. A cookie is information
stored on your computer by a website you visit. Cookies often store your settings for a website, such as your preferred language or location,
or a unique identifier. When you return to the site, Thunderbird sends back the cookies that belong to the site. This allows the site to
present you with information customized to fit your needs. Cookies can store a wide range of information, including personally identifiable
information (such as your name, home address, e-mail address, or telephone number). Because of their ability to store Personal Information,
or references to such information, cookies can allow websites to track the online movements of particular individuals.</p>
<p>Thunderbird itself does not set any cookies on behalf of Mozilla. However, Mozilla may sometimes set cookies in accordance with the
Mozilla Privacy Policy, e.g., for the <a href="https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/legal/privacy/#blocklist">Blocklist</a> (see below)
or for other website visits.</p>
<p>By default, the activities of storing and sending cookies are invisible to you. However, you can change your Thunderbird settings to allow
you to approve or deny cookie storage requests, delete stored cookies automatically when you close Thunderbird, and more.</p>

<h3>Data Practices for Interactive Product Features</h3>
<h4>Add-ons</h4>
<p>One thing that makes Thunderbird so flexible is the ability for you to add various add-ons, extensions, and themes to Thunderbird, thereby
creating a custom messaging system that fits your needs. The following features show how Thunderbird provides the ability both to obtain additional
add-ons easily and to protect against potentially harmful add-ons.</p>
<h5>Get Add-ons Page</h5>
<p>Thunderbird offers a Get Add-ons page of the Add-ons Manager that features popular add-ons and displays personalized recommendations
based on the add-ons you already have installed. This page can be accessed by clicking on the “Get Add-ons” tab of the Thunderbird Add-ons
Manager. To display the personalized recommendations, Thunderbird sends certain information to Mozilla, including the list of add-ons you
have installed, Thunderbird version information, and your IP address. This communication only happens when the Get Add-ons area is open and
can be turned off at any time by opting out of Automatic Updates from the Add-ons Manager.</p>
<h5>Add-on Information and Searches</h5>
<p>To keep the information displayed to you about your installed add-ons up to date, Thunderbird communicates with Mozilla once a day
to update add-on descriptions, home pages, download counts, screenshots, and ratings. This communication includes the list of add-ons you
have installed, Thunderbird version information, how long it took Thunderbird to start up, and your IP address. You can turn off this
functionality at any time by opting out of Automatic Updates from the Add-ons Manager.</p>
<p>If you enter keywords into the search field for the Add-ons Manager, those keywords will be sent to Mozilla to perform the search, along
with Potentially Personal Information (such as IP address) normally transferred to perform such functionality.</p>
<h4>Automated Update Service</h4>
<p>Thunderbird’s automatic update feature periodically checks to see if an updated version of Thunderbird and installed add-ons are available from Mozilla.</p>
<p>This feature sends Non-Personal Information to Mozilla, including the version of Thunderbird you are using, build ID and target, update
channel, your language preference, and your operating system. This feature also sends Potentially Personal Information to Mozilla in the form
of your IP address and a cookie that contains a unique numeric value to distinguish individual Thunderbird installs. Mozilla uses this
information to provide you with updated versions of Thunderbird and to understand the usage patterns of Thunderbird users. We use this
information to improve our products and services and to support decision-making regarding feature and capacity planning.</p>
<p>Mozilla does not collect or track any Personal Information or any information about the emails you send/receive or the websites you
visit, and Mozilla does not release the raw information we obtain from this Thunderbird feature to the public. We may release reports
containing Aggregate Data so that our global community can make better product and design decisions. To prevent Mozilla from obtaining this
information, you can turn this feature off in Thunderbird’s preferences.</p>
<h4>Blocklist Feature</h4>
<p>Thunderbird also offers a Blocklist feature. With this feature, once a day Thunderbird does a regularly scheduled, automatic check to see
if you have any harmful add-ons or plug-ins installed. If so, this feature disables add-ons or plug-ins that Mozilla has determined contain
known vulnerabilities or major user-facing issues or fatal bugs (e.g., Thunderbird crashes on startup or something causes an endless loop).
You may view the current list of Blocklisted items. This feature sends Non-Personal Information to Mozilla, including the version of Thunderbird
you are using, operating system version, build ID and target, update channel, and your language preference. This feature also sends Potentially
Personal Information to Mozilla in the form of your IP address and a cookie. In addition, Mozilla also uses this feature to analyze Thunderbird
usage patterns so we may improve our products and services, including planning features and capacity. Currently there is no basic user
interface to disable the Blocklist feature.</p>
<p>This feature can be disabled by following the instructions in this article. Disabling the Blocklist feature is not recommended as it may result
in using extensions known to be untrustworthy.</p>
<h4>Crash-Reporting Feature</h4>
<p>Thunderbird has a crash-reporting feature that sends a report to Mozilla when Thunderbird crashes. Mozilla uses the information in the crash
reports to diagnose and correct the problems in Thunderbird that caused the crash. Though this feature starts automatically after Thunderbird
crashes, it does not send information to Mozilla until you explicitly authorize it to do so.</p>
<p>By default, this feature sends a variety of Non-Personal Information to Mozilla, including the stack trace (a detailed description of which
parts of the Thunderbird code were active at the time of the crash) and the type of computer you are using. It also gives you have the option
to include Personal Information (including your email address), Potentially Personal Information (including your IP address and the URL of
the site you were visiting when Thunderbird crashed), and a comment. Thunderbird Crash Reporter also sends a list of all add-ons that you
were using at the time of the crash, and the time since: the start-up of the program, the last crash, and the last install.</p>
<p>Mozilla only makes Non-Personal Information (i.e., generic information about your computer, the stack trace, and any comment given by the user)
available in the public reports available online at <a href="http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/">http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/</a>. We recommend
you not include any personal information in comments in crash reporter.</p>
<h4>Personas</h4>
<p>Thunderbird’s Personas feature allows you to use a theme to personalize the look of Thunderbird.</p>
<h5>Applying Personas</h5>
<p>When you apply a Persona to Thunderbird, Mozilla collects your IP address, the date and time you applied the Persona to Thunderbird, and the
URL you used to make the application as well as the URL you were visiting immediately before that (known as the “referrer” URL).</p>
<h5>Creating a Custom Persona</h5>
<p>If you are creating a Custom Persona for your own use, Mozilla does not collect any Personal Information.</p>
<h5>Contributing a Design to the Personas Gallery</h5>
<p>The Personas gallery is where you can browse all the available designs. If you contribute a design or image (each a “Persona”) to the Personas
gallery, Mozilla collects the following Personal Information: (1) your username and (2) your email address. Your username will be used to
attribute your Persona to you and will be publicly available on the Personas gallery. You do not have to provide your real name; you can use
a nickname or avatar. Mozilla will not make your email address publicly available without your consent or share it with any third parties
other than Mozilla’s service providers. Mozilla will use your email address only to contact you regarding your design or to provide any
additional information that you elect or opt in to receive.</p>
<h5>Personas’ Interactive Product Features</h5>
<p>After you have selected your Persona, it is stored on your computer. Once per day the Personas service checks to see if your selected Persona
has been updated. This feature sends the same information that web browsers typically transfer with any HTTP requests including user agent and your IP address.</p>
<p>We use this information to improve our products and services and to support decision-making regarding feature and capacity planning. Mozilla
is an open organization that believes in sharing as much information as possible about its products, its operations, and its associations.
Accordingly, we may release public reports containing Aggregate Data so that our global community and Personas partners may make better
product and design decisions. For example, we think it is good for users of Personas to know which are the most popular Personas and Personas
designers to know how many times their Persona was downloaded.</p>
<h4>Usage Statistics</h4>
<p>Beginning with version 7, Thunderbird includes functionality that is turned off by default to send to Mozilla non-personal usage, performance,
and responsiveness statistics about user interface features, memory, and hardware configuration. The only Potentially Personal Information
sent to Mozilla when this functionality has been enabled is IP addresses. Usage statistics are transmitted using SSL (a method of protecting
data in transit) and help us improve future versions of Thunderbird. Once sent to Mozilla, usage statistics are stored in an aggregate form
and made available to a broad range of developers, including both Mozilla employees and public contributors. Once this functionality is
enabled, users can disable it in Thunderbird’s Options/Preferences. Simply deselect the "Submit performance data" item.</p>

<section>
<h3>What Mozilla Does to Secure Data</h3>
<p>Mozilla is committed to protecting your Personal Information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. We undertake a
range of security measures including physical access restraints, technical security monitoring, and internal security reviews of the
environment. We also have policies in place to prohibit employees from viewing Personal Information without business justification.
Additionally, it is our policy to ensure that Mozilla employees and contractors are bound by confidentiality obligations. Although we make
good faith efforts to maintain the security of such Personal Information, we cannot guarantee that it will remain free from unauthorized
access, use, disclosure, or alteration. Further, while we work hard to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we
cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent unauthorized persons from illegally accessing or obtaining this information.</p>
<h4>Secure Website Certificate Verification</h4>
<p>When you visit a secure website or access secure remote content via emails, Thunderbird may check the identity of that secure remote service
using any status provider mentioned in the certificate provided by that service. Thunderbird sends only the certificate identification to
the certificate provider, not the exact URL you are visiting. Sending these verification requests to third parties is sometimes important to
ensure your connection to a site is secure; to help maintain your security, Thunderbird may deny access to the site if it can't verify your
connection using the third party. If the certificate is no longer valid, you will receive an error page that states why the certificate is
not valid and you will not be able to access that website. The technical name for this process is OCSP or On-line Certificate Status Protocol.
You may <a href="https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/configuring-certificates">disable</a> online certificate verification in Thunderbird's preferences (Mac) / options (PC) under the encryption tab. If you do this,
none of the information discussed here will be sent to any third party certificate provider. However, if you choose to disable the online
verification feature, Thunderbird will not be able to confirm the identity of the website you are visiting, which may put you at greater

<h3>Legal Process and Other Disclosures</h3>
<p>Consistent with our privacy commitments, we will scrutinize third party requests for information about you for compliance with the law, including
those coming from governmental agencies or civil litigants. We may access, use, preserve or disclose information about you only when we have
a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to do so to satisfy the applicable law, regulation, legal process or lawful governmental
request of any country, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Mozilla, its users or the public. We will provide notice of legal
process or governmental requests unless prohibited to do so by law or the circumstances warrant otherwise.</p>
<h4>What and When We Share with Third Parties</h4>
<p>Mozilla’s policy is to make Personal Information, such as your name and email address, and Potentially Personal Information, such as the URL
of the site you last visited, only available to its employees, contractors, and selected contributors who signed confidentiality agreements
that prohibit them from using or disclosing such information other than for approved Mozilla purposes.</p>
<p>We also work with third parties who provide infrastructure or back-end services (like content delivery networks, bandwidth providers, and services
of an administrative nature). We may share Personal Information about you with such third parties for the purpose of enabling these third
parties to provide such services. Additionally, Mozilla may need to transfer Personal Information to an affiliate or successor in the event
of a change of our corporate structure or status, such as in the event of a restructuring, sale, or bankruptcy.</p>
<h4>Transfer of Data to the U.S.</h4>
<p>Mozilla is a global organization and operates in different countries. Privacy laws and common practices vary from country to country. Some
countries may provide for less legal protection of your personal data; others may provide more legal protection. By using Thunderbird, you
consent to the transfer of the information collected, as outlined by this Policy, to Mozilla or its third party service providers in the
United States, the Netherlands, and other places where our distributed, third party content delivery network exists (which is in several
countries around the world), which countries may provide a lesser level of data protection than in your country of residence.</p>
<h4>Mozilla’s Approach to Data Retention</h4>
<p>We will retain any information collected for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy unless a longer retention period is required by law and/or regulations.</p>

check this page for any changes to the current policy. If we make an update to this Privacy Policy that is materially less restrictive in our
use or disclosure of Personal Information that we collected prior to the update, we will provide you with prior notice of the pending update

website or service has a separate privacy policy. Since the Mozilla Corporation and the Mozilla Foundation individually operate these

sites but share many of the same privacy practices, we will refer to them collectively as “Mozilla” in this policy when describing practices

that apply to both of them.</p>

<h3>Website Visitors</h3>
<p>Except as described below, Mozilla does not collect or require visitors to its websites to furnish personally identifying
information such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers. Like most website operators, Mozilla does collect non-personally
identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, operating
system, language preference, referring site and date and time of each visitor request. Mozilla also collects potentially-personally
identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, which are non-personally identifying in and of themselves but could
be used in conjunction with other information to personally identify users.</p>
<p>Mozilla's purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how Mozilla's visitors use its websites. To that end,
Mozilla may share potentially-personally identifying information with its employees, contractors, service providers, and subsidiaries
and related organizations. Mozilla may also release its results of such analyses of non-personally identifying information about
visitors by publishing a report on website usage trends. Otherwise, Mozilla will not publicly release potentially-personally
identifying information except under the same circumstances as Mozilla releases personally identifying information. Those
circumstances are explained below.</p>
</section>
<section>
<h3>Community Members</h3>
<p>Certain members of the Mozilla community (contributors, customers, etc.) choose to interact with Mozilla in ways that require
Mozilla and others to know more about them. The amount and type of information that Mozilla gathers from those members depends on
the nature of the interaction. For example, members who wish to post content to certain portions of Mozilla's websites or participate
in live chat session(s) are asked to provide usernames that are used to identify content as having been posted by a particular
member (who is identified by the username).</p>
<p>Developers, by comparison, are asked to provide contact information, up to and sometimes including telephone or fax numbers, so
that they can be contacted as necessary. Typically, developers will be contacted by email, IRC (internet relay chat), or IM (instant
messaging services). However, in the event of a time-sensitive question relating to the work the developer is doing in connection
with Mozilla and where other means of contact have failed, a developer’s phone number or fax number may be used to contact the
developer. This information is available to Mozilla employees, contractors, subsidiaries, and potentially to other members of the
community. A developer can choose not to provide a phone number or fax number. On occasion, developers and other community members
are contacted by email and asked for a physical address or geographic location so that they may be sent Mozilla-related t-shirts and
other schwag or invited to a meetup or other Mozilla-related gathering. In such cases, the purpose for which their physical address
is sought will be made explicit.</p>
<p>Customers of the Mozilla stores (which sell merchandise and other items on behalf of Mozilla) are asked to provide even more
information, including billing and shipping addresses and credit card or similar information to third party vendors so that their
transactions can be processed and fulfilled by Mozilla or a third-party fulfillment vendor. For a list of the vendors that we use to
operate the stores, check here. However, we cannot guarantee that this list is always up to date.</p>
<p>We also permit community members to provide their names and email addresses so that they can have a more direct engagement with
Mozilla and so that Mozilla can send them information related to Mozilla, such as educational material, promotional and cross-promotional
material, surveys to be completed, messages about the Mozilla Foundation, events information, and other such information and
materials. These are opt-in interactions where community members affirmatively sign-up for inclusion in a direct communication with
Mozilla (and with an ability to unsubscribe/opt-out on any email received). These campaigns may be conducted with the help of a
third-party customer relationship manager to help us manage the database of information and its analysis and use, in each case such
third party’s involvement with all the data collected will be solely on Mozilla’s behalf. As part of these marketing campaigns, we
might also ask you to provide demographic information such as gender, age, job or role, country, geographic location, and areas of
interest. If we ask you for this information, we will use it to customize our communication with you and to better understand those
interested in Mozilla and its products. As part of these marketing campaigns, we may collect a campaign source ID, marketing campaign
ID, and a campaign referrer ID. These types of information are used so that we may better understand your interests and the effectiveness
of particular marketing campaigns. We may also use this information to customize our communications with you. For example, if a
community member plans to host a Mozilla-themed party to promote a product launch or other event and would like to receive Mozilla
promotional items like t-shirts, buttons, and stickers for her guests (which we call “schwag”), the community member may submit her
name, mailing address, and details about the event (such as date and number of anticipated guests) through Bugzilla so that we (or
our service providers) can process this request. In each case, Mozilla collects personally identifying information only insofar as
is necessary to fulfill the purpose of the community member's interaction with Mozilla. And in the case of a schwag request, those
bugs allow you to select restricted access so that only Mozilla contractors and employees and the individuals listed in the bug can
access your information via Bugzilla itself.</p>
<p>Our websites also may provide a means for candidates to apply on-line for employment with Mozilla. Applicants for employment with
Mozilla are required to provide contact information, including name, street address, telephone number, and email address, as well as
resume information. We use this information to process and evaluate the application for employment, and to communicate with the
applicant about employment opportunities. If we elect to make an offer of employment, this information may become part of the employee
file and may be used for other employment and work-related purposes. Mozilla uses an outside service provider to assist us with online
job applications and the application process generally. You can view a list of the service provider(s) here. It is our policy to
require any such service providers to contractually commit to Mozilla to (a) only use applicant data for the purpose of fulfilling
obligations to Mozilla in providing the services and (b) not disclose the information to third parties.</p>
<p>Mozilla is an open organization that believes in sharing as much information as possible about its products, its operations and its
associations. Accordingly, community members should assume - as should most folks who interact with Mozilla - that any personally identifying
information provided to Mozilla will be made available to the public. There are four broad exceptions to that rule:</p>
<ol>
<li>Mozilla does not publicly release information gathered in connection with commercial transactions (i.e., transactions involving
money), including transactions conducted through the Mozilla Foundation Store or donations to the Mozilla Foundation.</li>
<li>Mozilla does not publicly release personally identifying information collected in connection with an application for employment with Mozilla.</li>
<li>Mozilla does not make publicly available information that is used to authenticate users the publication of which would compromise the security of Mozilla's websites (e.g., passwords).</li>
<li>Mozilla does not make publicly available information that it specifically promises at the time of collection to maintain in confidence.</li>
</ol>
<p>Outside those four contexts, users should assume that personally identifying information provided through Mozilla's websites will be made available to the public.</p>

<h3>Interactive Product Features</h3>
<p>Certain Mozilla products contain features that report, or that permit users to report, the user's usage patterns and problems -
whether caused by Mozilla's software, third-party software, or third-party websites - to Mozilla. The reports generated by these
features typically include non-personally identifying information such as the configuration of the user's computer and the code
running at the time the problem occurred. You can view the reports at <a href="http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/">http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/</a>.</p>
<p>Some of these features give users the option of providing personally identifying information, though none of these features require
it. Some Mozilla software features that do permit users to provide personally identifying information advise, in advance, that such information
will not be made publicly available. Mozilla analyzes the information provided by these interactive product features to develop a better
understanding of how its products are performing and being used. It does not use the information to track the usage of its products by
identifiable individuals. For Firefox, Mozilla only makes non-personally identifying information (i.e., generic information about your
computer, the stack trace, and any comment given by the user) available in the public reports available online at <a href="http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/">http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/</a>.

<h3>Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information</h3>
<p>Where Mozilla has collected personally identifying information subject to one of the four exceptions described in the Community
Members section, above, it discloses that information only to those of its employees, contractors, service providers, and subsidiaries
and related organizations that need to know that information in order to process it on Mozilla's behalf and that have agreed not to
disclose it to others. Mozilla endeavors to maintain an up-to-date list of its subsidiaries and related organizations at
<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/about/organizations.html">http://www.mozilla.org/about/organizations.html</a>, however we don’t guarantee this list to be complete. As of the date of this update,
Mozilla Foundation’s subsidiaries are Mozilla Corporation, MZ Denmark, Mozilla Online (based in China), MZCanada, and Moz 2008 (based
in New Zealand). Its related organizations are Mozilla Japan and Mozilla Europe. Some of these employees, contractors, service providers,
and subsidiaries and related organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Mozilla's websites, you consent to
the transfer of your information to them, which may involve the transfer of your information to countries that may provide a lesser
level of data protection than your country of residence. Additionally, Mozilla may need to transfer personally identifying information
to an affiliate or successor in the event of a change of our corporate structure or status, such as in the event of a restructuring,
sale, or bankruptcy. We will retain any personally identifying information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined
in this privacy policy. Mozilla does not rent or sell personally identifying information to anyone.</p>

the personally identifiable information or potentially personally identifiable information related to you. To do so, users should
look for links or contact information available on whichever Mozilla websites store the relevant information (e.g., Bugzilla users

<h3>Cookies and Clear GIFs</h3>
<p><strong>What Are Cookies?</strong> A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor's computer, and that the visitor's browser
provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Most major websites use cookies. Because the browser provides this cookie information
to the website at each visit, cookies serve as a sort of label that allows a website to "recognize" a browser when it returns to the
site. The domain name in Mozilla cookies will clearly identify their affiliation with Mozilla and, where applicable, its third-party service provider.</p>
<p><strong>What Are Clear GIFs?</strong> Clear gifs (also known as web beacons) are used in combination with cookies to help website operators understand
how visitors interact with their websites. A clear gif is typically a transparent graphic image (usually 1 pixel x 1 pixel) that is
placed on a site. The use of a clear gif allows the site to measure the actions of the visitor opening the page that contains the
clear gif. It makes it easier to follow and record the activities of a recognized browser, such as the path of pages visited at a website.</p>
<p><strong>How We Use Cookies and Clear GIFs.</strong> Mozilla's websites use cookies to help Mozilla identify and track visitors, their usage of Mozilla
websites, and their website access preferences across multiple requests and visits to Mozilla's websites. Our websites, and advertisements
that Mozilla may run occasionally on thirdparty advertising networks, also may use clear gifs for these purposes. The basic idea is
to gather aggregate data about how people use the Mozilla websites. The term usually used to describe this is "web analytics" and the
cookies and clear gifs are the tools by which a website owner collects this web analytics data.</p>
<p>Mozilla will use the web analytics data only to determine aggregate usage patterns for our websites as described above. Mozilla websites
do this by using either our own internal analytics software or by sending this information to a third-party service provider to help
Mozilla analyze this data. Mozilla has agreements with its third-party service providers that they will not share this information with
others or use the information for purposes other than to maintain the services they provide to Mozilla. It is possible to link cookies
and clear gifs to personally identifying information, thereby permitting website operators, including our third-party analytics providers,
to track the online movements of particular individuals. Mozilla does not do so and its third-party service providers are not allowed
to correlate Mozilla data with any other data.</p>
<p>Mozilla uses the information provided by cookies and clear gifs to develop a better understanding of how Mozilla's visitors use Mozilla's
websites, and to facilitate those visitors' interactions with Mozilla's websites. Mozilla may make the aggregate data obtained from
web analytics (including from our third-party analytics providers, if applicable) publicly available. If this data is made available,
none of the information will be personally identifying information or potentially-personally identifying information.</p>
<p><strong>Other Third Party Cookies.</strong> Content from other sources that is hosted on Mozilla websites may sometimes contain cookies that send
information to those third parties. In certain cases, often associated with embedded content such as YouTube videos and other site
linking buttons, a third party cookie may be set by the 3rd party content or provider. In these cases, the privacy policy of the 3rd
party governs with respect to information that may be collected by and sent to the respective 3rd party. If you are concerned about
these third party cookies, please see the information below on how to decline cookies.</p>
<p><strong>How to Control the Use of Cookies.</strong> You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Mozilla visitors who do not wish to have cookies
placed on their computers by Mozilla, its contractors, or third-party service providers should set their browsers to refuse cookies
before linking to Mozilla's websites. Certain features of Mozilla's websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.</p>

<h3>Mozilla Ads</h3>
<p>Mozilla places advertisements on third party websites to introduce people to our products and services, to encourage people to contribute
to our community-based activities, and to provide opportunities to sign up to receive communications from Mozilla. We stand by our
online advertising practices and aim to provide full transparency and control over how our ads appear and function.</p>
<p>Some advertisements may use cookies and/or clear GIFs. When you view Mozilla's advertisements on third party sites where we advertise,
cookies and/or clear GIFs from these campaigns provide Mozilla with metrics to help measure and improve performance of our advertising.
We do not use cookies to save data that identifies you personally, nor do we capture behavioral data to personalize future ads or create
targeting profiles about you. The domain name in Mozilla ad cookies will clearly identify their affiliation with Mozilla and/or, where
applicable, our third-party service provider. For more information on Mozilla’s third party service providers,

<h4>Opting Out of Mozilla Ads</h4>

respond to the Do Not Track signal enabled via Firefox and other browsers. For now, you may choose to opt-out of first party Mozilla

you only when we have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to do so to satisfy the applicable law, regulation, legal

process or lawful governmental request of any country, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Mozilla, its users or the public.
