This release includes support for the Netscape 6 Password Manager. For

This release works with Netscape 6 or Communicator 4.7x (but not both at
the same time) on Windows 95/98/NT without requiring any changes to the
directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Netscape Shared\Security\.
Earlier releases required an existing Security directory (created for the
Communicator 4.7x version of Personal Security Manager) to be renamed before
installing Netscape 6 (or PSM for Mozilla), and vice versa.

Installing on Windows 95/98/NT

Important note for Mozilla and Netscape 6 users: The Personal Security
Manager 1.2 binaries for use with Communicator 4.x differ from the Personal
Security Manager 1.2 beta binaries available for Mozilla at Netscape
PSM for Mozilla and from the Personal Security Manager 1.01 binaries
that ship with Netscape 6 PR1. As a result, if you are running Windows
95/98/NT and you have already installed Netscape 6 or PSM for Mozilla,
you should rename the Security directory containing the PSM binaries before
you install Personal Security Manager 1.2 for Communicator 4.7x (and vice
versa--if you have installed Netscape 6 or Personal Security Manager 1.1
for Mozilla, you should rename the Security directory before installing
Personal Security Manager 1.2 for Communicator).

On Windows systems, the Personal Security Manager files are located
in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Netscape Shared\Security\. If
the Security directory already exists, rename it before installing a second
version of Personal Security Manager (whether directly or as part of a
Netscape 6 installation). For example, if you already have Netscape 6 installed
and you want to install Personal Security Manager for Communicator 4.7x,
rename the Security directory before beginning installation. A new Security
directory will be created during installation. When you are ready to run
Communicator 4.7x again, you must rename the new Security directory and
restore the name of the original directory to Security.

This incompatibility between releases of Personal Security Manager will
disappear in future releases. It is not a problem on Unix platforms.

Important note for Personal Security Manager 1.0 users: If you
are currently using release 1.0 of Personal Security Manager, you should
delete the psm directory before installing release 1.2. The psm
directory required for release 1.0 and earlier was located in the Netscape
program directory on Windows 95/98/NT (default location C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program), and in the directory where the
Netscape executable resides on Unix.
