Ryan Hunt 076d1e73a3 Bug 1503655 part 3 - Remove PRenderFrame protocol without functional changes. r=kats
This commit removes the PRenderFrame protocol, while keeping the same ordering
and semantics of graphics IPC initialization.

To do this, some messages are added to PBrowser to simulate the constructor
and destructor of PRenderFrame. Messages that expected a nullable PRenderFrame
are updated to get a boolean instead.

One tricky area is the destruction of PRenderFrame. I've tried to keep it the
same as much as possible, but it's possible it might be slightly semantically
different than IPDL destruction. Destruction will be touched up in a later
patch, so I'm not too concerned.

This moves the code that detects very low memory scenarios and grabs memory
reports from the main thread event-loop to the available memory tracker.
Besides removing the overhead of the check from the event-loop code this
increases the likeliness of the reports being gathered by sampling at a
higher frequency but only when we already detected a low-memory scenario. Last
but not least this add checks for low commit-space detection alongside low
virtual-memory detection.

Andreas Farre cbc727cdcf Bug 1445659 - Make BrowsingContext interact with bfcache. r=peterv
Have BrowsingContext keep its own cache to enable caching of
BrowsingContexts, especially in the parent process.

This isn't really optimal, since it effectively duplicates the
cache in the child process. BFcache keeps a list of strong pointers to
the list of cached nsDocShells, where each nsDocShell in turn keeps a
reciprocated strong pointer to its BrowsingContext, which in turn is
held in the BrowsingContexts list of cached contexts. Ideally these
caches should be merged.

Kris Maglione 5520b46fd0 Bug 1477129: Part 2 - Fix SharedMap blob handling, and add tests. r=erahm
We were previously failing to send blobs to new content processes, which was a
problem for those processes. But we were also attempting to extract blobs for
new entries that we were serializing after we'd extracted their structured
clone data, and their blob array had been thrown away (which was a problem for
all processes).

This patch fixes both problems.

Kris Maglione 1aa45ee72a Bug 1463587: Part 4 - Add blob support to SharedMap. r=erahm,baku
I was hoping to avoid supporting blobs here, but some parts of the
WebExtensions framework rely on being able to store Blobs in
initialProcessData, and can't be migrated without adding blob support.

This patch adds an ordered array of BlobImpls for all extant keys, clones them
to all child processes when updating the serialized maps, and initializes
StructuredCloneData instances with indexes into the combined array.

This class allows one read-write copy of a map in the parent process to share
data with multiple read-only copies in child processes. The maps only hold
onto data as structured clone blobs, and deserialize them each time a key is
read.

This commit only provides the bare-bones data structures. Follow-ups will add

Anny Gakhokidze 535e3c83a1 Bug 1470540 - Improve performance of DataTransfer::CacheExternalClipboardFormats, r=baku,mccr8
Currently, in order to retrieve supported clipboard formats
DataTransfer::CacheExternalClipboardFormats repeatedly makes the same calls to
clipboard->HasDataMatchingFlavors.

In the case when aPlainTextOnly == true only 1 call is made -
clipboard->HasDataMatchingFlavors(kUnicodeMime, ...), and when
aPlainTextOnly == false we have 1 call made for every member of the list
{ kCustomTypesMime, kFileMime, kHTMLMime, kRTFMime, kURLMime, kURLDataMime,
kUnicodeMime, kPNGImageMime } - a total of 8 calls.

We can see that in nsClipboardProxy::HasDataMatchingFlavors, there is a call to
ContentChild::GetSingleton()->SendClipboardHasType.
So when aPlainTextOnly == true, we will have 1 sync message, and when
aPlainTextOnly == false, we will have 8 sync messages.

With the proposed solution, in DataTransfer::CacheExternalClipboardFormats
we will only have 1 sync message regardless of the case because
GetExternalClipboardFormats() will retrieve all supported clipboard
formats at once.

Kartikaya Gupta 395eaf8c66 Bug 1448490 - Make the layers id a struct instead of a uint64_t. r=mattwoodrow
The new struct is in LayersTypes.h, all the rest of the changes are just
replacing existing uint64_t instances with the new LayersId struct.

Note that there is one functional change, in
CompositorBridgeParent::DeallocPWebRenderBridgeParent, where we now
correctly convert the PipelineId to a LayersId before using it to index
into sIndirectLayerTrees, whereas before we were incorrectly just using
the mHandle part of the PipelineId.

Nicholas Nethercote 6b81d0b99f Bug 1436911 - Avoid the early/late prefs split. r=glandium
All prefs that need to be sent to a new content process are now put into the
shared memory segment, and they are identified by the pref name instead of an
index into a list. The old IPC used at process startup (in XPCOMInitData) is
removed.

Benefits:

- It removes the need for the early prefs list
  (dom/ipc/ContentProcesses.{h,cpp}) and the associated checking, which is ugly
  and often trips people up (e.g. bug 1432979, bug 1439406).

- Using prefnames instead of indices fixes some fragility (fixing bug 1419432).

- It fixes the problem of early prefs being installed as unlocked default
  values even if they are locked and/or have user values.

Jed Davis a9b7865141 Bug 1316153 - Remove base::ChildPrivileges from IPC. r=billm,bobowen
ChildPrivileges is a leftover from the B2G process model; it's now
mostly unused, except for the Windows sandbox using it to carry whether
a content process has file:/// access.

In general, when sandboxing needs to interact with process launch, the
inputs are some subset of: the GeckoProcessType, the subtype if content,
various prefs and even GPU configuration; and the resulting launch
adjustments are platform-specific. And on some platforms (e.g., OS X)
it's all done after launch. So a simple enum used cross-platform isn't
a good fit.

Chris H-C 1e2b2d46b4 bug 1369041 - Allow child processes to discard data when overwhelmed r=bsmedberg,gfritzsche f?bsmedberg
It is possible in extreme cases that the Telemetry IPC Accumulator might be
starved long enough that it cannot drain its stored accumulations for a while.

Once we hit 5x the high water mark, start discarding data.

Count each piece and type of discarded data and report it via a custom IPC
message.

MozReview-Commit-ID: A1lCqvbQYAF

There is no clean API-based solution to this, so instead I went grovelling
through the DCOM wire protocol and was able to write a function that converts
handler OBJREFs into standard OBJREFs.

Peter Van der Beken 2310b3bd39 Bug 558184 - Part 8 - Load js plugins in a separate process. r=billm.
Every JS plugin is assigned a unique ID. When an instance of a JS plugin is created the
frame loader that we use to load the plugin's handler URI will create a special
TabContext. This TabContext causes the ContentParent to use the process for this specific
JS plugin (creating one if it hasn't already) when it creates the PBrowser actors.
This causes the iframes for all the instances of a specific JS plugin to be grouped in the
same process.
