Per our discussion, this patch splits out the state management bits of
WebRenderLayerManager, allowing for them to be maintained per-document.

Ryan Hunt 2226bcc8a3 Bug 1504220 - Move ScrollableLayerGuid, ViewID, ZoomConstraints from FrameMetrics.h r=botond
This commit attempts to lower the pain of modifying FrameMetrics.h.

It looks like most includes really only want ViewID or
ScrollableLayerGuid, so this commit factors them out into a separate
header. In the process FrameMetrics::ViewID is changed to
ScrollableLayerGuid::ViewID, which personally seems like a better
place for it now that we have RepaintRequest. Unfortunately that
requires a lot of places to be updated.

After this commit there are still a couple of major places that
FrameMetrics is included.
 * nsDisplayList.h
 * nsIScrollableFrame.h
 * Layers.h

Those are going to be more tricky or impossible to fix so they're
not in this commit.

Ryan Hunt accd024b8f Bug 1453425 - Add RepaintRequest for use of FrameMetrics in repaint requests. r=botond
FrameMetrics is currently used in about three ways.
  1. Main thread to APZ transactions
  2. Storing information in AsyncPanZoomController
  3. APZ to main thread repaint requests

There's overlap in the use of fields in all these use cases, but it's not perfect. In a
following commit, I'd like to change the information used for (1) to support relative
scroll offset updates. This information isn't needed for (2) or (3), so it would be
good to refactor FrameMetrics out into these use cases.

This commit refactors out (3) as it is fairly easy to do. I'd like to refactor (2) out
as well, but that is trickier. I'd like to leave that for a future followup.

Andrew Osmond 3aedcdc649 Bug 1492930 - Part 1. Expose composition of shared surfaces cache to allow memory reporting. r=nical
This exposes methods to capture a snapshot of the SharedSurfacesParent
cache for memory reporting purposes. It yields the identifiers, image
properties and references to images mapped in the cache. This will be
used by the compositor process to list everything it has mapped into its
memory space. It will also be used by the content processes / main
process to list images that specific process had mapped into the
compositor process. This will allow us to easily identify what images
remain in the compositor process, but are missing from the surface
cache.

Masatoshi Kimura ccda8a2b19 Bug 1491615 - Re-enable warnings-as-errors on clang-cl in gfx/layers/. r=jrmuizel
* TexSlot caused warnings because some TexSlot constants are unused. Since some
files under gfx/vr/ want TexSlot constants, I moved the definition to
  CompositionD3D11.h. (But I didn't fix gfx/vr/ in this patch.)

* Since MOZ_ASSERT_UNREACHABLE falls through in release builds, we should

not care about UB, we should use MOZ_MAKE_COMPILER_ASSUME_IS_UNREACHABLE.

Ryan Hunt a71d0035ad Bug 1478815 part 7 - Add a buffer unrotate operation to DrawTarget. r=bas
This commit adds a buffer unrotate operation to DrawTarget. It's
initially implemented with LockBits in DrawTarget. DrawTargetDual
overrides the implementation to pass on the operation to it's
DrawTargets.

No override is given for DrawTargetCapture as we intentionally
avoid this code path when async painting as it can fail.

This is needed so that RotatedBuffer can expose a single DrawTarget,
which can be a DrawTarget (for normal alpha), DrawTargetDual (for
component alpha), or DrawTargetCapture (when async painting).

This commit adds an operation to perform 'edge padding' on a draw
target. By default this is performed using LockBits, but it's
overriden in DrawTargetTiled and DrawTargetCapture to propagate
the call so it functions correctly.

This helps TiledContentClient move from applying this operation
on a per texture client basis, to being able to do it on the
DrawTargetTiled after painting. This in turn helps move all
paint thread operations into DrawTargetCapture.

Doug Thayer cd54f8c184 Bug 1265824 - Wait on texture handles with IPC r=jld, mattwoodrow
There's a lot going on here, but it all fits under the idea of
being able to communicate about texture locking statuses
without spinning on IsReadLocked. This is a bit of a trade -
we could just always allocate/grab a texture from the pool,
which would put a smaller cap on the amount of time we can
possibly spend when a texture is locked. However, this eats
up more CPU and memory than waiting on the textures to unlock,
and could take longer, especially if there were a large number
of textures which we just need to wait for for a short amount
of time. In any case, we very rarely hit the case where we
actually need to wait on the sync IPC to the compositor - most
of the time the textures are already unlocked.

There is also an async IPC call in here, which we make before
flushing async paints. This just causes the compositor to
check whether the GPU is done with its textures or not and
unlock them if it is. This helps us avoid the case where we
take a long time painting asynchronously, turn IPC back on at
the end of that, and then have to wait for the compositor
to to get into TiledLayerBufferComposite::UseTiles before
getting a response. Specifically this eliminates several talos
regressions which use ASAP mode.

Lastly, there seem to be no other cases of static Monitors
being used. This seems like it falls under similar use cases
as StaticMutexes, so I added it in. I can move it into its own
file if we think it might be generally useful in the future.

Ryan Hunt 41f7f579b7 Bug 1471639 - Move edge padding to the paint thread. r=nical
This commit ports over the last remaining operation for tiling that doesn't work
on the paint thread.

The difficult part for edge padding is that it is done outside of ValidateTile
so it doesn't have an associated CapturedTilePaintState to be added to as an
operation. We need it to be in the same paint state so that it's guaranteed
to be run after painting has finished.

This commit changes edge padding to instead be decided inside of ValidateTile
and either sent to the paint thread if there is OMTP or executed right away.

Kartikaya Gupta 1eb717ccf5 Bug 1377187 - Rewrite the clipping code to use the new clipchain API. r=mstange
The clip chain API in webrender allows us to build the clip state in WR
so that it matches the gecko display list more closely. This patch throws
away ScrollingLayersHelper.* and introduces ClipManager.* which pushes
the clip state to WR using the new method. A quick summary of the new
method is below.

Each display item in gecko has a DisplayItemClipChain which is a chain
of individual clips. The individual clips are defined in WR, and the
clip ids for those clips are put into a WR clip chain using the new
define_clip_chain API. Furthermore, each clip chain can also have a
parent chain, which is used to link a DisplayItemClipChain to the parent
display item's DisplayItemClipChain. This allows the WR clip state to
closely match the structure of the gecko display list clip state,
resulting in more correct behaviour.

There are a few other major changes that are lumped into this patch and
that were tricky to separate into their own patches:
- The collapsing of WrScrollId and WrStickyId into WrClipId. On the WR
side all the clip ids are treated the same anyway. Trying to preserve
the arbitrary distinction on the gecko side was resulting in
increasingly convoluted code, with different kinds of Variant<..>
types in the method signatures. It was much simpler and resulted in a
bunch of code deletion to just collapse the types.
- Moving the "override" mechanism from WebRenderAPI to ClipManager. The
override mechanism (explained in ClipManager.h) was simplified by
moving it into ClipManager, because it removed the need for tracking
additional clip stack state in WebRenderAPI.

Markus Stange 2d93796161 Bug 1444430 - Add a ProfilerScreenshots class which can be used to submit DataSourceSurfaces to the profiler. r=jrmuizel
ProfilerScreenshots encodes these surfaces to JPG data URLs, and submits them
as profiler markers. The encoding is done on a separate thread.

Kartikaya Gupta d6673c9aad Bug 1449620 - Extract an APZUpdater class from APZSampler. r=botond
The APZUpdater class holds the methods that are to be run on the updater
thread. Note that there are a few differences between the APZSampler and
APZUpdater classes - most notably, APZSampler no longer has a
"RunOnSamplerThread" function because there should never be any need to
dispatch runnables to the sampler thread. There is still a
RunOnUpdaterThread in APZUpdater, as well as a mechanism for dispatching
runnables to the controller thread via the updater thread.

Kartikaya Gupta 26139682b6 Bug 1441324 - Introduce an empty APZInputBridge protocol managed by PGPU. r=rhunt
This just adds the boilerplate that goes with the new protocol, without
adding any of the actual messages. The protocol is managed by PGPU, and
there will be one instance per compositor. The parent side lives on the
main thread of the GPU process, and the child side lives on the main
thread of the UI process. The protocol is only instantiated if the GPU
process is active.

Kartikaya Gupta 874af3e540 Bug 1441324 - Extract an APZInputBridge interface from IAPZCTreeManager. r=rhunt
This separates the methods that are used to deliver input events
synchronously over IPDL to the compositor; this interface will be
remoted over a new APZInputBridge IPDL protocol in future patches.

Kartikaya Gupta 7bb7b24179 Bug 1441916 - Introduce an APZSampler interface for APZCTreeManager. r=botond
This interface should be used for accessing any sampler-thread functions
on APZCTreeManager. Eventually the interface will handle thread
delegation so that if it is called from a thread that is not the sampler
thread it will redirect the calls appropriately. For now it just allows
to logically group the public APZCTreeManager methods that are to be run
on the sampler thread.
