alwu e3fa191af4 Bug 1580659 - part6 : remove input config parameter from 'NotifyStartedPlaying()'. r=Ehsan
After applying patch4, now we would pull the change from `AudioChannelService` everytime after starting the agent, so we don't need to rely on letting `NotifyStartedPlaying()` to modify the config and use it to update our state.

alwu d158e0c4b2 Bug 1580659 - part4 : pulling the intial update after starting AudioChannelAgent. r=chunmin
Instead of calling those callback functions seperately, we could provide a function to pull those changes at once after starting the agent.

In addition, `WindowXXXChanged` are callback functions of `nsIAudioChannelAgentCallback`, so they should only be called by `AudioChannelAgent`, to indicate receiving the change from `AudioChannelService`. We should not call them directly.

alwu fbc98138ee Bug 1580659 - part3.5 : suspend nsNPAPIPluginInstance should not affect its muted state. r=karlt
The suspend state and muted state are two different things, so changing the suspended state should not affect on the muted state.

As nsAPI doesn't provide suspending API, both muting and suspending are actually sharing the same implementation, which is to mute/unmute nsAPI.

Although we have used two separate variables to store muted and suspended state, in order to make them independent, we still don't want to unexpectedly unmute nsAPI when resuming from suspended state.

Therefore, before unmuting nsAPI, we should consider both states.

`nsIAudioChannelAgent` was created a common interface for a usage of in both js and C++ before, now we have no any JS code would use `nsIAudioChannelAgent`, it's only used in C++ code.

Therefore, in a coming refactoring (bug1580662), we will remove `nsIAudioChannelAgent` and use `AudioChannelAgent` as the only interface. Here we can make these classes start to reference `AudioChannelAgent`, instead of `nsIAudioChannelAgent`.

Gabriele Svelto beb62c4c31 Bug 1282776 - Finalize crash reports for child process crashes happening too early r=froydnj
This changes the way crash reports for child processes happening too early
during the child process' startup. Before bug 1547698 we wrote a partial
.extra file with those crashes that lacked the process type. The user would
not be notified of those crashes until she restarted Firefox and even when
submitted those crashes would be erroneously labeled as browser crashes.

After bug 1547698 we stopped writing .extra files entirely for those crashes
which left orphaned .dmp files among the pending crash reports.

This patch does three things to improve the situation:

* It writes a partial .extra file so that the crashes are detected at the next
startup. So the user is still not notified directly of these crashes but she
  can report them later.
* It adds the process type to the .extra file so that the crash reporters are
  labelled correctly.
* It fixes a leak in the `pidToMinidump` hash-map. Since the crashes were
not finalized the `ChildProcessData` strucutre associated with them would
  never be fred.

Gijs Kruitbosch fffc7f0c58 Bug 1505913 - make plugin click-to-play and crash handling fission-compatible, r=mconley
At a high level, this change does the following:
- move the pluginchild actor to be a JSWindowActorChild
- move the parent handling from browser-plugins into a JSWindowActorParent
- move the crash handling from ContentCrashHandlers.jsm to the parent actor,
using a `PluginManager` object. It needs to talk to the actors (and vice
versa), so this seemed a better fit than spreading actor implementation
  details to other JSMs.
- switch to using plugin IDs to identify plugins cross-process, instead of
combinations of names or other properties of the plugin tag. As part of that,
ensured plugin IDs are unique between "fake" plugins and the other ones.
- drop support for having a notification for more than 1 plugin. We only support
Flash, in practice, so there didn't seem to be much point in the added
complexity of trying to support more than 1 thing.

Some notes:
- the previous implementation mixes runIDs (for NPAPI plugin process "runs")
and GMP pluginIDs when doing crashreporting. AFAICT there is no guarantee
these don't conflict, so I've split them out to avoid issues. There's a
pluginCrashID object I pass around instead that has either a runID or
pluginID. Happy to rename some more for clarity.
- the previous implementation used `pluginInfo` and `plugin` for a bunch of
different types of variables. I've tried to be consistent, where:
  * `pluginElement` is a DOM element for a plugin
  * `activationInfo` is a JS object used to track click to play state for a plugin
  * `plugin` is a plugintag as returned by the pluginhost service
  * `pluginCrashID` is an identifier for a crashed plugin (see previous point).
- I'm still using broadcastAsyncMessage to tell the content processes about
gmp plugin crashes and plugin crash submission updates, because there's no
guarantee the actors are instantiated (for gmp plugins) nor can the parent
easily find out which actors to talk to (for either gmp or npapi plugins).
Open to suggestions there, too. I think our best bet might be moving that to
IPDL-based IPC within the GMP code, but that feels like a separate bug.

Kris Maglione f70e67ad2d Bug 1541557: Part 4 - Stop relying on synchronous preference getters/setters. r=nika
The SpecialPowers set*Pref/get*Pref APIs currently use synchronous messaging
to set and get preference values from the parent process. Aside from directly
affecting callers of those APIs, it also affects callers of `pushPrefEnv`,
which is meant to be asynchronous, but is in practice usually synchronous due
to the synchronous messaging it uses.

This patch updates the getPref APIs to use the in-process preference service
(which most callers are expecting anyway), and also updates the callers of
the setPref and pushPrefEnv APIs to await the result if they're relying on it
taking effect immediately.

Unfortunately, there are some corner cases in tests that appear to only work
because of the quirks of the current sync messaging approach. The synchronous
setPref APIs, for instance, trigger preference changes in the parent
instantly, but don't update the values in the child until we've returned to
the event loop and had a chance to process the notifications from the parent.
The differnce in timing leads some tests to fail in strange ways, which this
patch works around by just adding timeouts.

There should be follow-ups for test owners to fix the flakiness.

Kris Maglione fcb799ab11 Bug 1541557: Part 3 - Update callers of sync SpecialPowers functions to await the return value. r=nika
When we migrate SpecialPowers to a JSWindowActor, it will no longer be able to
use synchronous IPC messaging, which means that its current synchronous APIs
will have to become asynchronous.

This patch doesn't change the behavior of those functions, but it does change
their callers to `await` their return values rather than using them directly.
This pattern will work the same whether the functions return a promise or a
plain value, which simplifies the migration.

The patch also removes the dom.vr.oculus.quit.timeout pref, because it's
unused.
