This will make it safe to put NO_STATIC_LIB=1 in myconfig.mk, which saves about 100MB and 3 minutes on my debug build. I have also verified that the build at this point in time succesfully builds with autoconf. If you must recover one of these makefiles, you can use the static tag STATIC_MAKEFILES.
