There's an antipattern where nsLiteralString is used as an unnecessary intermediary in converting from CharT* to CharT*,
e.g. CallAFunctionThatTakesACharPointer(NS_LITERAL_CSTRING("foo").get());
or
NS_NAMED_LITERAL_STRING(foo, "abc");
CallAFunctionThatTakesACharPointer(foo.get());
This patch rewrites the callsites that can be trivially changed to use char*/char16_t*.
I'd somewhat like to remove nsTLiteralString::get() altogether, but in code that's less straightforward than these examples, get() is useful enough to keep.

Add IProcessManager.getEditableParent, which a content process can call

Going further from the previous changes, all libfuzzer_main really does
is call the init function, and then proceed to call the fuzzer driver
with the testing function.
So instead of calling that function for it to do all that, the

The LibFuzzerRunner code lives in libxul. It's unnecessary complications
to have it call back a function in the firefox executable just so that
it calls another function that is in libxul. Passing the init and
testing functions to the libfuzzer_main function allows to just bypass
that roundtrip, simplifying the setup.

Bug 1330533 - Remove argc/argv arguments to XRE_LibFuzzerSetMain. r=decoder

The function given to XRE_LibFuzzerSetMain is called from somewhere that
does have access to argc/argv already, so we can avoid passing them
to XRE_LibFuzzerSetMain.
This actually might fix subtle issues with argc/argv not really matching
reality when calling the LibFuzzerMain function in the current code:
some arguments are handled before the call, and both argc and argv are
modified from within XRE_main, but the values stored for the
LibFuzzerMain call still are the original ones.
Argv being a pointer, and it not being reallocated, the value stored for
the LibFuzzerMain call points to the changed one, but argc, being an
integer, is not modified accordingly.
In fact, it's actually worse, because while the Gecko code doesn't
reallocate argv, gtk_main might. So if some GTK flag is passed on the
command line, there's also a possibility that the LibFuzzerMain function
will do a use-after-free.
So all in all, it's just better to use the set of modified argc/argv
from XRE_main instead of storing them from main().

Reading application.ini involves using nsCOMPtr<nsIFile>, and that can
only happen through the XPCOM glue, which we eventually want to get rid
of.
So, while keeping the command line argument/environment variable
handling in nsBrowserApp, we move the actually parsing of the file to
XRE_main, where things can be handled without the XPCOM glue.

This is the first step towards changing how nsBrowserApp and other current
XPCOM glue users start up Gecko.
The goal here is to expose the same API via a single object with a
VTable instead of the current XPCOM glue machinery. Instead of creating

As far as I can tell, this covers all the remaining threads which we start
using PR_CreateThread, except the ones that are created inside NSPR or NSS,
and except for the Shutdown Watchdog thread in nsTerminator.cpp and the
CacheIO thread. The Shutdown Watchdog thread stays alive past leak detection
during shutdown (by design), so we'd report leaks if we profiled it. The
CacheIO thread seems to stay alive past shutdown leak detection sometimes as
well.
This adds a AutoProfilerRegister stack class for easy registering and
unregistering. There are a few places where we still call
profiler_register_thread() and profiler_unregister_thread() manually, either
because registration happens conditionally, or because there is a variable that
gets put on the stack before the AutoProfilerRegister (e.g. a dynamically
generated thread name). AutoProfilerRegister needs to be the first object on
the stack because it uses its own `this` pointer as the stack top address.

Actually, we don't turn of xinput2 on content process. So, although chrome process cannot detect touch screen device, content process can detect it.
So if we turn off xinput2 on chrome process, content process should be turned off.

Bug 1290619 - Content sandbox rules should use actual profile directory, not Profiles/*/ regex's; r=jimm

Passes the profile dir to the content process as a -profile CLI
option so that the correct profile dir can be used in the OS X content
sandbox rules. Only enabled on OS X for now.
On Nightly, profile directories will now be read/write protected
from the content process (apart from a few profile subdirectories) even
when they don't reside in ~/Library.
xpcshell tests invoke the content process without providing a
profile directory. In that case, we don't need to add filesystem
profile dir. read/write exclusion rules to the sandbox.
This patch adds two new macros to the content sandbox rule set:
|profileDir| holds the path to the profile or the emptry string;
|hasProfileDir| is a boolean (1 or 0) that indicates whether or
not the profile directory rules should be added. If |hasProfileDir|
is 0, profile directory exclusion rules don't need to be added
and |profileDir| is not used.

Bug 1290619 - Content sandbox rules should use actual profile directory, not Profiles/*/ regexes. r=jimm

Passes the profile dir to the content process as a -profile CLI option so
that the correct profile dir can be used in the OS X content sandbox rules.
Only enabled on OS X for now.
On Nightly, profile directories will now be read/write protected from the
content process (apart from a few profile subdirectories) even when they
don't reside in ~/Library.

Bug 694570 - (3/4) - Stop using libgnome and libgnomeui on Linux. r=acomminos

Replace session management through libgnome with direct use of libSM and
libICE. This allows xsmp session restore on gtk2 and gtk3 builds.
Changes in behaviour:
- It now only sends the "session-save" notification when the save style
is SmSaveLocal or SmSaveBoth. Saving internal state with a save style of
SmSaveGlobal is actually incorrect. This means that Firefox now
distinguishes between a normal session exit and a session exit with
session saving enabled.
- As "quit-application-requested" might pop up a dialog, it only does
this if the interact style is not SmInteractStyleNone
- "quit-application-requested" is only sent after sending
SmcInteractRequest and receiving an interact message.
- It defers closing the connection to the session manager until
the destructor, i.e after the "web-workers-shutdown" async shutdown
phase completes. This means that firefox shouldn't be killed too early
and lose data (*).
* It still might be killed prematurely if it takes too long to quit and
the session manager decides to timeout, but that's another story.
