Add CPP_THROW_NEW macro to the build system. This macro should be used when defining a local |operator new| function. It will be set to an empty throw function by default on all platforms except mac CW builds. This will allow us to not crash on systems that expect |operator new| to throw an exception by default and will suppress compiler warnings about how |operator new| should throw an exception instead of returning NULL.

Browser based listeners can now registers themselves using the AddGroupedEventListener and passing the system event group (which can be gotten via the nsIDOMEventReceiver interface). These listeners will now fire after all content based listeners have processed.
In this initial version of the checkin most browser listeners are still left in the original content group for stability purposes.

Bug 126669, we need to pass in aHasChildren parameter to the start tag serializing function because the node that is passed in may be a shallow copy, thereby making it impossible to determine if it originally had children, in the method itself. Second try at fixing bug 130778. Create a new content interface, nsIMenuElement, which is implemeneted on nsHTMLSelectElement, nsHTMLOptGroupElement, and the newly-created nsXULMenuElement. Create a nsXULMenuElement instance for XUL menubar and menupopup tags. Use this interface to set and get the active item from the XUL menuframe code and the :-moz-menuactive pseudoclass matching code. Fixing bug 114539. Getting rid of mInner in all our 'data' nodes and making those classes inherit nsGenericDOMDataNode in stead. Also remove mContentID from nsTextNode and push mRangeList and mListenerManager into hashtables since they are used so rarely. Bug 77834: Fix problem where form control state is being restored to the wrong form control or not restored at all when going back and forth through session history. The problem was that the hash key we used was the content ID, which was not consistent from page load to page load. Update of the nsIContentPolicy interface to provide more generic context, a nsIURI instead of a URI wstring, and a nsIDOMWindow for window level context. Existing Callsites have been updated to reflect the new changes, and nsIDOMWindows are now passed into the new API.

Fixing bug 81115 that causes the identity of event receivers and event targets to be incorrect in the case where the target/reveiver is an nsGenericElement or a nsGenericDOMDataNode. The problem was the those classes use the event listener manager as a tearoff but QI'ing that tearoff to nsISupports returns the event listener manager and not the element/node, this causes XPConnect to create different wrappers for the same element/node when the event listener tearoff is wrapped in stead of directly wrapping the element/node. This causes problems with event.target in JS, among other things. The solution for this problem was to create a separate tearoff that works correctly and leave the event listener manager alone since it can not be used as a tearoff in all cases. r=pollmann@netscape.com, sr=vidur@netscape.com

Fixing bugs 64523, 50018, 57626, 59024, 61413 and probably others, making the document and form JS engine resolve hooks find what they're supposed to find, and nothing more, making the element-by-name and element-by-id lookup in the document be hashtable based to avoid walking the whole DOM tree over and over again when resolving names on the document object and also on form objects. This is an order of magnitude speedup for pages that contain a large number of form controls, such as hotmail and aol mail. Change the way nsDocument stores its children by replacing separate nsVoidArrays for prolog and epilog with a single nsISupportsArray that also holds the root element. Using this change, simplify many of the child handling methods in nsDocument (and fix some bugs in them). Redoing the way code is shared between different element classes in mozilla, in stead of having an inner object (mInner) and forwarding function calls to the inner object the elements now inherit from what used to be the inner object. Previously nsIJSScriptObject and nsIContent (and related interfaces) were implemented on all leaf classes (~60 classes) and all the methods in those interfaces were forwarded to the inner object, now all those methods are inherited in stead. Significantly reduce the amount of time we blow on style reresolution by

tracking the attributes which appear in CSS selectors, and only firing
a complete reresolution when we change one of those. In the irrelevant-attr
case, we just let the frame update itself and get on with our lives right

Also, when setting an attribute to the same value that it currently holds,
don't think about it especially hard, and _don't_ go anywhere near the

Changing the way content elements store their name information, previously the elements generally stored a name atom and a namespace ID, now they store a pointer to a shared structure containing the name atom, the prefix atom and the namespace ID. This structure is shared between nodes with unique names (ie same name, prefix and ns ID) within a document. Documents now hold a hash table of the names in the document. The changes to mozilla/rdf are not reviewed but they are approved by waterson@netscape.com and the changes to mozilla/layout are reviewed by buster@netscape.com.

Fix for bugs 20485 and 24600. We no longer flush immediately in the content sink when we hit a script element. Instead the sink is a document observer and listens for BeginUpdate/EndUpdate notifications when evaluating a script and flushes only if necessary. Added BeginUpdate/EndUpdate notifications to nsIDocument and layout content (note that it's still necessary for XUL content). r=nisheeth,pollmann

This method flushes the pending content notifications from the content sink and the pending reflow notifications from the pres shell. 3.) WebShell supports GetInterface to nsIScriptGlobalObject.
4.) Documents no longer carry around a reference to nsIScriptContextOwner. Instead they hold on to a nsIScriptGlobalObject. nsIDocument::GetScriptContextOwner has now become nsIDocument::GetScriptGlobalObject(). Same change to the set methods.

Added Get/Set methods to content IDs. An ID is used as a key to store state information about a content object and its associated frame object. The state information is stored in a dictionary that is manipulated by the frame manager (nsIFrameManager) inside layout. An opaque pointer to this dictionary is passed to the session history as a handle associated with the current document's state.

Changes to allow disabling and enabling of style sheets. Introduced ReconstructFrames to nsIFrameConstructor. CSSStyleSheets now remember their document. Temporary fix to allow text content inside CSS tables.

Added additional parameter to nsIContent::SetDocument. The document now tells content to lose its weak reference before the document goes away. Elements and text now add their script objects as roots so they don't get collected prematurely.

1) Move the CSS dependent methods out of nsDocument and placed them
...
in a new class nsMarkupDocument. The point of nsMarkupDocument is
to hold methods which are common to HTML and XML but not relevant
to the base nsDocument class.
2) Added Selection support methods for Rod.
3) Added LookupProperty to nsCSSProperty:
Given a property ID and Property Index returns back the string representation
of the property. This was need to convert CSSValues back to strings for saving.
TODO: Make sure that our URL Information stored in a CSSDeclaration contains
enough information to return it to it's original form on output.
