Pull ARM updates from Russell King:
"In this ARM merge, we remove more lines than we add. Changes include:
- Enable imprecise aborts early, so that bus errors aren't masked
until later in the boot. This has the side effect that boot
loaders which provoke these aborts can cause the kernel to crash
early in boot, so we install a handler to report this event around
the site where these are enabled.
- Remove the buggy but impossible to enable cmpxchg syscall code.
- Add unwinding annotations to some assembly code.
- Add support for atomic half-word exchange for ARMv6k+.
- Reduce ioremap() alignment for SMP/LPAE cases where we don't need
the large alignment.
- Addition of an "optimal" 3G configuration for systems with 1G of
RAM.
- Increase vmalloc space by 128M.
- Constify some SMP operations structures, which have never been
writable.
- Improve ARMs dma_mmap() support for mapping DMA coherent mappings
into userspace.
- Fix to the NMI backtrace code in the IPI case on ARM where the
failing CPU gets stuck for 10s waiting for its own IPI to be
delivered.
- Removal of legacy PM support from the AMBA bus driver.
- Another fix for the previous fix of vdsomunge"

Update the documentation about:
1. Usage of PMU_SPARE2 register.
Bootloaders on Exynos542x-based boards often use the register
PMU_SPARE2 (0x908) in the same way as on Exynos3250: as a indicator
the secondary CPU was booted on. The bootloader will set this value
to non-zero, after sucessfull power up of secondary CPU. In the same
time this booted CPU will stuck (spin) waiting for software reset.
2. Exynos542x entry address for secondary CPU boot up after system
suspend (with MCPM enabled and in non-secure mode).
See arch/arm/mach-exynos/mcpm-exynos.c for source code.

similar, there's still a few differences. Introduce a new compatible to
deal with them.
In order to have a consistent naming, instead of mentioning the Allwinner

Currently firmware file name is included in the DTS. This is not scalable
as user has to change the DTS if they need upgrade to a new firmware.
Instead, add the firmware file name in the driver itself. As long as there
is no API change, new firmware upgrade is easy and require no driver
change. User is expected to copy the firmware image to the file system
and add a sym link to the new firmware for doing an upgrade. Driver add
a array of firmware file names to search for the available firmware blobs.
This scheme also prepare the driver for future changes to API if ever
happens. In such case it is assumed that driver needs to change to
accommodate the new firmware and new firmware file name will get added to
the array.
Also update the DT document to remove the firmware attribute and add
description about firmware in the driver documentation.

There is a 12MB unused region in our memory map between the vmalloc and
fixmap areas. This became unused with commit e9da6e9905, confirmed
with commit 64d3b6a3f4.
We also have a 8MB guard area before the vmalloc area. With the default
240MB vmalloc area size and the current VMALLOC_END definition, that
means the end of low memory ends up at 0xef800000 which is unfortunate
for 768MB machines where 8MB of RAM is lost to himem.
Let's move VMALLOC_END to 0xff800000 so the guard area won't chop the
top of the 768MB low memory area while keeping the default vmalloc area
size unchanged and still preserving a gap between the vmalloc and fixmap
areas.

Some of these are for drivers/soc, where we're now putting
SoC-specific drivers these days. Some are for other driver subsystems
where we have received acks from the appropriate maintainers.
Some highlights:
- simple-mfd: document DT bindings and misc updates
- migrate mach-berlin to simple-mfd for clock, pinctrl and reset
- memory: support for Tegra132 SoC
- memory: introduce tegra EMC driver for scaling memory frequency
- misc. updates for ARM CCI and CCN busses
Conflicts:
arch/arm64/boot/dts/arm/juno-motherboard.dtsi
Trivial add/add conflict with our dt branch.
Resolution: take both sides.

Various boot loaders for Exynos based boards use certain memory
addresses during booting for different purposes. Mostly this is one of
following :
1. as a CPU boot address,
2. for storing magic cookie related to low power mode (AFTR, sleep).
The document, based solely on kernel source code, tries to group the
information scattered over different files. This would help in the
future when adding support for new SoC or when extending features
related to low power modes.

Since 688d4dfcdd "perf tools: Support
parsing parameterized events" the perf userspace tools understands
"argument=?" syntax in the events file, making sure that required
arguments are provided by the user and not defaulting to 0, causing
confusion.
This patch adds the required arguments lists for CCN events.
Signed-off-by: Pawel Moll <pawel.moll@arm.com>
This patch adds a "cpumask" attribute to CCN's event_source class sysfs
directory. Perf user tool uses it to restrict events to the
processor(s) enumerated in this mask.
This patch provides a single CPU mask, making it possible to run "-a"
perf session (previously it would request the same CCN event, for
example cycle counter, on each available core and most likely fail).
Initially the mask is set to the CPU that happened to probe the driver,
but it will be changed when it is hot-un-plugged (active events are
migrated to another CPU then).
Example:
Performance counter stats for 'system wide':
CPU0 2968148 cycles
CPU1 2236736 cycles
CPU2 1797968 cycles
CPU3 1831715 cycles
CPU1 1201850868 ccn/cycles/

The changes here belong to two main platforms:
- Atmel At91 is flipping the bit and going multiplatform. This includes some
cleanups and removal of code, and the final flip of config dependencies
- Shmobile has several platforms that are going multiplatform, but this
branch also contains a bunch of cleanups that they weren't able to keep
separate in a good way. THere's also a removal of one of their SoCs and the
corresponding boards (sh7372 and mackerel).

New and updated SoC support. Also included are some cleanups where the
platform maintainers hadn't separated cleanups from new developent in
separate branches.
Some of the larger things worth pointing out:
- A large set of changes from Alexandre Belloni and Nicolas Ferre
preparing at91 platforms for multiplatform and cleaning up quite a
bit in the process.
- Removal of CSR's "Marco" SoC platform that never made it out to the
market. We love seeing these since it means the vendor published
support before product was out, which is exactly what we want!
New platforms this release are:
- Conexant Digicolor (CX92755 SoC)
- Hisilicon HiP01 SoC
- CSR/sirf Atlas7 SoC
- ST STiH418 SoC
- Common code changes for Nvidia Tegra132 (64-bit SoC)
We're seeing more and more platforms having a harder time labelling
changes as cleanups vs new development -- which is a good sign that
we've come quite far on the cleanup effort. So over time we might start
combining the cleanup and new-development branches more.

ARM support for CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA
This patch extends the firmware_ops structure with two new callbacks:
.suspend() and .resume(). The former is intended to ask the firmware to
save all its volatile state and suspend the system, without returning
back to the kernel in between. The latter is to be called early by
very low level platform suspend code after waking up to restore low
level hardware state, which can't be restored in non-secure mode.
While at it, outdated version of the structure is removed from the
documentation and replaced with a reference to the header file.

With commit a05e54c103 ("ARM: 8031/2: change fixmap mapping region to
support 32 CPUs"), the fixmap region was expanded to 2MB, but it
precluded any other uses of the fixmap region. In order to support other
uses the fixmap region needs to be expanded beyond 2MB. Fortunately, the
adjacent 1MB range 0xffe00000-0xfff00000 is availabe.
Remove fixmap_page_table ptr and lookup the page table via the virtual
address so that the fixmap region can span more that one pmd. The 2nd
pmd is already created since it is shared with the vector page.

Some time ago, the "Function Specifications" for the Marvell Armada XP
processor has been released. However, the "Hardware Specifications"
were not released at the same time. They have now been released
publicly, so this commit updates the Marvell documentation file with
the references to this new documentation.
Three documents are available, one for each of the three variants of
Armada XP: 78230, 78260 and 78460.

A handful of driver-related changes. We've had a bunch of them going in through
other branches as well, so it's only a part of what we really have this release.
Larger pieces are:
* Removal of a now unused PWM driver for atmel
- This includes AVR32 changes that have been appropriately acked.
* Performance counter support for the arm CCN interconnect
* OMAP mailbox driver cleanups and consolidation
* PCI and SATA PHY drivers for SPEAr 13xx platforms
* Redefinition (with backwards compatibility!) of PCI DT bindings for Tegra to
better model regulators/power.

Pull ARM updates from Russell King:
- Major clean-up of the L2 cache support code. The existing mess was
becoming rather unmaintainable through all the additions that others
have done over time. This turns it into a much nicer structure, and
implements a few performance improvements as well.
- Clean up some of the CP15 control register tweaks for alignment
support, moving some code and data into alignment.c
- DMA properties for ARM, from Santosh and reviewed by DT people. This
adds DT properties to specify bus translations we can't discover
automatically, and to indicate whether devices are coherent.
- Hibernation support for ARM
- Make ftrace work with read-only text in modules
- add suspend support for PJ4B CPUs
- rework interrupt masking for undefined instruction handling, which
allows us to enable interrupts earlier in the handling of these
exceptions.
- support for big endian page tables
- fix stacktrace support to exclude stacktrace functions from the
trace, and add save_stack_trace_regs() implementation so that kprobes
can record stack traces.
- Add support for the Cortex-A17 CPU.
- Remove last vestiges of ARM710 support.
- Removal of ARM "meminfo" structure, finally converting us solely to
memblock to handle the early memory initialisation.

- Recommend that the kernel be placed under 128MiB, this is required if
CONFIG_AUTO_ZRELADDR=y and good (or at least not bad) advice even if
CONFIG_AUTO_ZRELADDR=n.
- Recommend that a zImage kernel be placed above 32MiB, this avoids the need
to relocate prior to decompression, which can speed up boot.
- Add basic info on the requirements when loading a raw (non-zImage) kernel
which are stricter than the zImage requirements.
- Recommend that the DTB be placed after the 128MiB boundary, avoiding any
potential conflict with the kernel decompressor, and within the lowmem
region. In practice it could follow the kernel loaded after 32MiB,
assuming the kernel decompesses to less than 32MiB, but the 128MiB
recommendation is simple and unambiguous.
- Add similar recommendation regarding initramfs.

These are changes that arrived a little late before the merge
window or that have multiple dependencies on previous branches
so they did not fit into one of the earlier ones. There
are 10 branches merged here, a total of 39 non-merge commits.
Contents are a mixed bag for the above reasons:
* Two new SoC platforms: ST microelectronics stixxxx and
the TI 'Nspire' graphing calculator. These should have
been in the 'soc' branch but were a little late
* Support for the Exynos 5420 variant in mach-exynos,
which is based on the other exynos branches to avoid

* Various small changes for sh-mobile, ux500 and davinci
* Common clk support for MSM
Conflicts:
* In Kconfig.debug, various additions trivially conflict,
the list should be kept in alphabetical order when
resolving.

the "secure monitor call", this adds support for those.
We had originally planned to have a third set of patches in here, which
would extend support for the existing generic "psci" call that is used
on multiple platforms as well as Xen and KVM guests, but that ended up
getting dropped because the patches were not ready in time.

This patch adds a simple low-level voting mutex implementation
to be used to arbitrate during first man selection when no load/store
exclusive instructions are usable.
For want of a better name, these are called "vlocks". (I was
tempted to call them ballot locks, but "block" is way too confusing
an abbreviation...)
There is no function to wait for the lock to be released, and no
vlock_lock() function since we don't need these at the moment.
These could straightforwardly be added if vlocks get used for other
purposes.
For architectural correctness even Strongly-Ordered memory accesses
require barriers in order to guarantee that multiple CPUs have a
coherent view of the ordering of memory accesses. Whether or not
this matters depends on hardware implementation details of the
memory system. Since the purpose of this code is to provide a clean,
generic locking mechanism with no platform-specific dependencies the
barriers should be present to avoid unpleasant surprises on future
platforms.
Note:
* When taking the lock, we don't care about implicit background
memory operations and other signalling which may be pending,
because those are not part of the critical section anyway.
A DMB is sufficient to ensure correctly observed ordering if
the explicit memory accesses in vlock_trylock.
* No barrier is required after checking the election result,
because the result is determined by the store to
VLOCK_OWNER_OFFSET and is already globally observed due to the
barriers in voting_end. This means that global agreement on
the winner is guaranteed, even before the winner is known
locally.

This provides helper methods to coordinate between CPUs coming down
and CPUs going up, as well as documentation on the used algorithms,
so that cluster teardown and setup
operations are not done for a cluster simultaneously.
For use in the power_down() implementation:
* __mcpm_cpu_going_down(unsigned int cluster, unsigned int cpu)
* __mcpm_outbound_enter_critical(unsigned int cluster)
* __mcpm_outbound_leave_critical(unsigned int cluster)
* __mcpm_cpu_down(unsigned int cluster, unsigned int cpu)
The power_up_setup() helper should do platform-specific setup in
preparation for turning the CPU on, such as invalidating local caches
or entering coherency. It must be assembler for now, since it must
run before the MMU can be switched on. It is passed the affinity level
for which initialization should be performed.
Because the mcpm_sync_struct content is looked-up and modified
with the cache enabled or disabled depending on the code path, it is
crucial to always ensure proper cache maintenance to update main memory
right away. The sync_cache_*() helpers are used to that end.
Also, in order to prevent a cached writer from interfering with an
adjacent non-cached writer, we ensure each state variable is located to
a separate cache line.

Some boards are running with secure firmware running in TrustZone secure
world, which changes the way some things have to be initialized.
This patch adds an interface for platforms to specify available firmware
operations and call them.
A wrapper macro, call_firmware_op(), checks if the operation is provided
and calls it if so, otherwise returns -ENOSYS to allow fallback to
legacy operation..
By default no operations are provided.
Example of use:
In code using firmware ops:
__raw_writel(virt_to_phys(exynos4_secondary_startup),
CPU1_BOOT_REG);
/* Call Exynos specific smc call */
if (call_firmware_op(cpu_boot, cpu) == -ENOSYS)
cpu_boot_legacy(...); /* Try legacy way */
gic_raise_softirq(cpumask_of(cpu), 1);
In board-/platform-specific code:
static int platformX_do_idle(void)
{
/* tell platformX firmware to enter idle */
return 0;
}
static int platformX_cpu_boot(int i)
{
/* tell platformX firmware to boot CPU i */

.do_idle = exynos_do_idle,
.cpu_boot = exynos_cpu_boot,

Use dma_alloc_attrs to allocate memory instead of omap specific vram
allocator. After this we can remove the omap vram allocator.
There are some downsides to this change:
1) dma_alloc_attrs doesn't let us allocate at certain physical address.
However, this should not be a problem as this feature of vram allocator
is only used when reserving the framebuffer that was initialized by the
bootloader, and we don't currently support "passing" a framebuffer from
the bootloader to the kernel anyway.
2) dma_alloc_attrs, as of now, always ioremaps the allocated area, and
we don't need the ioremap when using VRFB. This patch uses
DMA_ATTR_NO_KERNEL_MAPPING for the allocation, but the flag is currently
not operational.
3) OMAPFB_GET_VRAM_INFO ioctl cannot return real values anymore. I
changed the ioctl to return 64M for all the values, which, I hope, the
applications will interpret as "there's enough vram".
4) "vram" kernel parameter to define how much ram to reserve for video
use no longer works. The user needs to enable CMA and use "cma"
parameter.

From Rob Herring <robherring2@gmail.com>:
This is the 2nd part of mach/io.h removals. This series removes io.h on
platforms with PCI by creating a fixed virtual I/O mapping and a common
__io() macro.
This version has changed a bit to accommodate Tegra converting its PCIe
host to a platform driver. Now the virtual space is only reserved during
early boot before .map_io() is called. The mapping is not created until
calling pci_ioremap_io which can be done at any point after vmalloc is
initialized.
I've gone back to fixed 64K windows for each PCI bus. This allows
removing all the i/o resource setup from the individually platforms and
placing it within the common ARM PCI code.
I've only tested versatilepb under qemu (with the model hacked up to
actually enable i/o space), so any testing is appreciated. iop3xx and
mv78xx0 have some risk of breaking as the PCI bus addresses are moved
to 0 from matching the cpu host bus addesss.

As stated in the introduction of the document, the families of ARM
SoCs at Marvell are very complicated, and it is difficult for
newcomers to understand the organization of this SoC family and how it
relates to the Linux kernel support for those hardware platforms.
This document is only at RFC stage for now, it requires reviews and
comments from the Marvell maintainers, the PXA maintainers and the MMP
maintainers. For correctness of course, but also to add any other
information that would be useful. For example, one of the thing that
wasn't clear how to detail in the documentation is how the SoCs relate
to each other in terms of hardware IP blocks. For example, most of the
Kirkwood/Dove/Armada 370-XP/etc. hardware IPs (I2C, SPI, USB, SATA,
etc.) are identical, while the PXA and MMP families are completely
separate.

Changes from v3:
* Add Arnd Bergmann Acked-by.
Changes from v2:
* Mention the plat-<foo> directory that each SoC family is using.
* Take into account Eric Miao's comments on the PXA/MMP families: add
PXA21x/PXA25x/PXA26x to the list, mention which processors are
AP+CP or AP only. Clarify the comments on which SoCs were designed
by Intel, which ones were designed by Marvell after the acquisition
of the XScale family.
* Mention long-term plans regarding the support of those SoC
families.
Changes from v1:
* Added publicly available datasheet for the 88F5182 pointed by
Andrew Lunn.
* Added publicly available datasheet for the 88F5281 found with
Google searches
* Mentionned the Feroceon core name where appropriate, and Sheeva
where appropriate
* Fixed the core names for PXA930, PXA935 and PXA955 after comments
from Arnd Bergmann. Wikipedia is mistakenly suggesting that PXA93x
are Sheeva-based, and there isn't much information available on the
web about the 955.
This adds a fixed virtual mapping for PCI i/o addresses. The mapping is
located at the last 2MB of vmalloc region (0xfee00000-0xff000000). 2MB
is used to align with PMD size, but IO_SPACE_LIMIT is 1MB. The space
is reserved after .map_io and can be mapped at any time later with
pci_ioremap_io. Platforms which need early i/o mapping (e.g. for vga
console) can call pci_map_io_early in their .map_io function.
This has changed completely from the 1st implementation which only
supported creating the static mapping at .map_io.

This patch simply adds a newline character at end-of-file to those
files in Documentation/ that currently lack one.
This is done for a few different reasons:
A) It's rather annoying when you do "cat some_file.txt" that your
prompt/cursor ends up at the end of the last line of output rather
than on a new line.
B) Some tools that process files line-by-line may get confused by the
lack of a newline on the last line.
C) The "\ No newline at end of file" line in diffs annoys me for some
reason.
So, let's just add the missing newline once and for all.

There exist several display technologies and standards that support audio as
well. Hence, it is relevant to update the DSS device driver to provide an audio
interface that may be used by an audio driver or any other driver interested in
the functionality.
The audio_enable function is intended to prepare the relevant
IP for playback (e.g., enabling an audio FIFO, taking in/out of reset
some IP, enabling companion chips, etc). It is intended to be called before
audio_start. The audio_disable function performs the reverse operation and is
intended to be called after audio_stop.
While a given DSS device driver may support audio, it is possible that for
certain configurations audio is not supported (e.g., an HDMI display using a
VESA video timing). The audio_supported function is intended to query whether
the current configuration of the display supports audio.
The audio_config function is intended to configure all the relevant audio
parameters of the display. In order to make the function independent of any
specific DSS device driver, a struct omap_dss_audio is defined. Its purpose
is to contain all the required parameters for audio configuration. At the
moment, such structure contains pointers to IEC-60958 channel status word and
CEA-861 audio infoframe structures. This should be enough to support HDMI and
DisplayPort, as both are based on CEA-861 and IEC-60958. The omap_dss_audio
structure may be extended in the future if required.
The audio_enable/disable, audio_config and audio_supported functions could be
implemented as functions that may sleep. Hence, they should not be called
while holding a spinlock or a readlock.
The audio_start/audio_stop function is intended to effectively start/stop audio
playback after the configuration has taken place. These functions are designed
to be used in an atomic context. Hence, audio_start should return quickly and be
called only after all the needed resources for audio playback (audio FIFOs,
DMA channels, companion chips, etc) have been enabled to begin data transfers.
audio_stop is designed to only stop the audio transfers. The resources used
for playback are released using audio_disable.
A new enum omap_dss_audio_state is introduced to help the implementations of
the interface to keep track of the audio state. The initial state is _DISABLED;
then, the state transitions to _CONFIGURED, and then, when it is ready to
play audio, to _ENABLED. The state _PLAYING is used when the audio is being
rendered.

VENC output type (composite/svideo) doesn't have to be fixed by board
wiring, it is possible to also provide composite signal through svideo
luminance connector (software enabled), which is what pandora does.
Having to recompile the kernel for users who have TV connector types
that don't match default board setting is very inconvenient, especially
for users of a consumer device, so add support for switching VENC output

In order to remove the build time variation between different SOCs with
regards to VMALLOC_END, the iotable mappings are now allocated inside
the vmalloc region. This allows for VMALLOC_END to be identical across
all machines.
The value for VMALLOC_END is now set to 0xff000000 which is right where
the consistent DMA area starts.
To accommodate all static mappings on machines with possible highmem usage,
the default vmalloc area size is changed to 240 MB so that VMALLOC_START
is no higher than 0xf0000000 by default.

Currently, the documented kernel entry requirements are not
explicit about whether the kernel should be entered in ARM or
Thumb, leading to an ambiguitity about how to enter Thumb-2
kernels. As a result, the kernel is reliant on the zImage
decompressor to enter the kernel proper in the correct instruction
set state.
This patch changes the boot entry protocol for head.S and Image to
be the same as for zImage: in all cases, the kernel is now entered
in ARM.
Documentation/arm/Booting is updated to reflect this new policy.
A different rule will be needed for Cortex-M class CPUs as and when
support for those lands in mainline, since these CPUs don't support
the ARM instruction set at all: a note is added to the effect that
the kernel must be entered in Thumb on such systems.

This allows a ROM-able zImage to be written to eSD and for SuperH Mobile
ARM to boot directly from the SDHI hardware block.
This is achieved by the MaskROM loading the first portion of the image into
MERAM and then jumping to it. This portion contains loader code which
copies the entire image to SDRAM and jumps to it. From there the zImage
boot code proceeds as normal, uncompressing the image into its final
location and then jumping to it.

contains loader code which copies the entire image to SDRAM
and jumps to it. From there the zImage boot code proceeds
as normal, uncompressing the image into its final location
and then jumping to it.

Russell, please consider merging this for 2.6.38.
This patch depends on:
* "mmc, sh: Move MMCIF_PROGRESS_* into sh_mmcif.h"
which will be merged though Paul Mundt's rmobile sh-2.6.
The absence of this patch will break the build if
the (new) CONFIG_ZBOOT_ROM_MMCIF option is set.
There are no subtle side-effects.
v2:
Addressed comments by Magnus Damm
* Fix copyright in vrl4.c
* Fix use of #define CONFIG_ZBOOT_ROM_MMCIF in mmcif-sh7372.c
* Initialise LED GPIO lines in head-ap4evb.txt instead of mmcif-sh7372.c
as this is considered board-specific.
v3:
Addressed comments made in person by Magnus Damm
* Move mmcif_loader to be earlier in the image and
reduce the number of blocks of boot program loaded by the MaskRom
from 40 to 8 accordingly.
* Move LED GPIO initialisation into mmcif_progress_init
- This leaves the partner jet script unbloated
Other
* inline mmcif_update_progress so it is a static inline in a header file
v4:
* Use htole16() and htole32() in v4rl.c to ensure
that the output is little endian
v5:
Addressed comments by Russell King
* Simplify assembly code
* Jump to code rather than an address <- bug fix
* Use (void __iomem *) as appropriate
Roll in mackerel support
* This was previously a separate patch, only because of the order
in which this code was developed

lh7a40x has only been receiving updates for updates to generic code.
The last involvement from the maintainer according to the git logs was
in 2006. As such, it is a maintainence burden with no benefit.
This gets rid of two defconfigs.

The SWP instruction was deprecated in the ARMv6 architecture,
superseded by the LDREX/STREX family of instructions for
load-linked/store-conditional operations. The ARMv7 multiprocessing
extensions mandate that SWP/SWPB instructions are treated as undefined
from reset, with the ability to enable them through the System Control
Register SW bit.
This patch adds the alternative solution to emulate the SWP and SWPB
instructions using LDREX/STREX sequences, and log statistics to
/proc/cpu/swp_emulation. To correctly deal with copy-on-write, it also
modifies cpu_v7_set_pte_ext to change the mappings to priviliged RO when
user RO.
