Jayachandran C 55c25c2f14 MIPS: mm: Move some checks out of 'for' loop in DMA operations
The check cpu_needs_post_dma_flush() in mips_dma_sync_sg_for_cpu() and
the check !plat_device_is_coherent() in mips_dma_sync_sg_for_device()
can be moved outside the for loop.

As a side effect, this also avoids a GCC bug that caused kernel compile
to fail with the error:

arch/mips/mm/dma-default.c: In function 'mips_dma_sync_sg_for_cpu':
arch/mips/mm/dma-default.c:316:1: internal compiler error: in add_insn_before, at emit-rtl.c:3852

This gcc failure is seen in Code Sourcery toolchains [e.g. gcc version
4.7.2 (Sourcery CodeBench Lite 2012.09-99)] after commit "MIPS: Optimize
current_cpu_type() for better code."

o Move current_cpu_type() to a separate header file
 o #ifdefing on supported CPU types lets modern GCC know that certain
   code in callers may be discarded ideally turning current_cpu_type() into
   a function returning a constant.
 o Use current_cpu_type() rather than direct access to struct cpuinfo_mips.

Johannes Weiner 759496ba64 arch: mm: pass userspace fault flag to generic fault handler
Unlike global OOM handling, memory cgroup code will invoke the OOM killer
in any OOM situation because it has no way of telling faults occuring in
kernel context - which could be handled more gracefully - from
user-triggered faults.

Pass a flag that identifies faults originating in user space from the
architecture-specific fault handlers to generic code so that memcg OOM
handling can be improved.

Johannes Weiner 871341023c arch: mm: do not invoke OOM killer on kernel fault OOM
Kernel faults are expected to handle OOM conditions gracefully (gup,
uaccess etc.), so they should never invoke the OOM killer. Reserve this
for faults triggered in user context when it is the only option.

Most architectures already do this, fix up the remaining few.

Naoya Horiguchi 83467efbdb mm: migrate: check movability of hugepage in unmap_and_move_huge_page()
Currently hugepage migration works well only for pmd-based hugepages
(mainly due to lack of testing,) so we had better not enable migration of
other levels of hugepages until we are ready for it.

Some users of hugepage migration (mbind, move_pages, and migrate_pages) do
page table walk and check pud/pmd_huge() there, so they are safe. But the
other users (softoffline and memory hotremove) don't do this, so without
this patch they can try to migrate unexpected types of hugepages.

To prevent this, we introduce hugepage_migration_support() as an
architecture dependent check of whether hugepage are implemented on a pmd
basis or not. And on some architecture multiple sizes of hugepages are
available, so hugepage_migration_support() also checks hugepage size.

Jim Quinlan f86f55d3ad MIPS: DMA: For BMIPS5000 cores flush region just like non-coherent R10000
The BMIPS5000 (Zephyr) processor utilizes instruction speculation. A
stale misprediction address in either the JTB or the CRS may trigger
a prefetch inside a region that is currently being used by a DMA engine,
which is not IO-coherent. This prefetch will fetch a line into the
scache, and that line will soon become stale (ie wrong) during/after the
DMA.  Mayhem ensues.

In dma-default.c, the r10000 is handled as a special case in the same way
that we want to handle Zephyr. So we generalize the exception cases into
a function, and include Zephyr as one of the processors that needs this
special care.

Paul Gortmaker 078a55fc82 MIPS: Delete __cpuinit/__CPUINIT usage from MIPS code
commit 3747069b25e419f6b51395f48127e9812abc3596 upstream.

The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense
some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings
do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in
commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time")
is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created
with improper use of the various __init prefixes.

After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go
the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone,
we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h.

Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since
notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c)
and are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from
the arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings.
As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit
related content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get
rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless.

Here, we remove all the MIPS __cpuinit from C code and __CPUINIT
from asm files. MIPS is interesting in this respect, because there
are also uasm users hiding behind their own renamed versions of the
__cpuinit macros.

Jonas Gorski a3d9086bb1 MIPS: Flush TLB handlers directly after writing them
When having enabled MIPS_PGD_C0_CONTEXT, trap_init() might call the
generated tlbmiss_handler_setup_pgd before it was committed to memory,
causing boot failures:

  trap_init()
   |- per_cpu_trap_init()
   |   |- TLBMISS_HANDLER_SETUP()
   |       |- tlbmiss_handler_setup_pgd()
   |- flush_tlb_handlers()

To avoid this, move flush_tlb_handlers() into build_tlb_refill_handler()
right after they were generated. We can do this as the cache handling is
initialized just before creating the tlb handlers.

Linus Torvalds daf799cca8 Merge branch 'upstream' of git://git.linux-mips.org/pub/scm/ralf/upstream-linus
Pull MIPS updates from Ralf Baechle:

 - More work on DT support for various platforms

 - Various fixes that were to late to make it straight into 3.9

 - Improved platform support, in particular the Netlogic XLR and
   BCM63xx, and the SEAD3 and Malta eval boards.

 - Support for several Ralink SOC families.

 - Complete support for the microMIPS ASE which basically reencodes the
   existing MIPS32/MIPS64 ISA to use non-constant size instructions.

 - Some fallout from LTO work which remove old cruft and will generally
   make the MIPS kernel easier to maintain and resistant to compiler
   optimization, even in absence of LTO.

 - KVM support. While MIPS has announced hardware virtualization
   extensions this KVM extension uses trap and emulate mode for
   virtualization of MIPS32. More KVM work to add support for VZ
   hardware virtualizaiton extensions and MIPS64 will probably already
   be merged for 3.11.

Most of this has been sitting in -next for a long time. All defconfigs
have been build or run time tested except three for which fixes are being
sent by other maintainers.

Steven J. Hill 2a0b24f56c MIPS: microMIPS: Add support for exception handling.
All exceptions must be taken in microMIPS mode, never in classic
MIPS mode or the kernel falls apart. A few NOP instructions are
used to maintain the correct alignment of microMIPS versions of
the exception vectors.

Steven J. Hill cf6d905828 MIPS: microMIPS: Fix macro naming in micro-assembler.
The macros did not properly take into account the ISA that
the kernel was being compiled with. A classic MIPS kernel
will have the standard 'uasm_i_##op' macro functions with
'MM_uasm_i_##op' macro functions for the microMIPS version.
A pure microMIPS kernel will have the standard macros with
'CL_uasm_i_##op' macro functions for the classic version.

Steven J. Hill 8fe4bb98e4 MIPS: microMIPS: Fix incorrect mask for jump immediate.
Jump or branch target addresses have the first bit set. The
original mask did not take this into account and will cause
a field overflow warning for the target address when a jump
immediate instruction is built.
