Commit 0e7d6f9401 ("gpio: of: Apply regulator-gpio quirk only to
enable-gpios") breaks the device tree ABI specified in the device tree
bindings for fixed regulators (compatible "regulator-fixed"). According
to these bindings the polarity of the GPIO is exclusively controlled by
the presence or absence of the enable-active-high property. As such the
polarity quirk implemented in of_gpio_flags_quirks() must be applied to
the GPIO specified for fixed regulators.
However, commit 0e7d6f9401 ("gpio: of: Apply regulator-gpio quirk only
to enable-gpios") restricted the quirk to the enable-gpios property for
fixed regulators as well, whereas according to the commit message itself
it should only apply to "regulator-gpio" compatible device tree nodes.
Fix this by actually implementing what the offending commit intended,
which is to ensure that the quirk is applied to the GPIO specified by
the "enable-gpio" property for the "regulator-gpio" bindings only.
This fixes a regression on Jetson TX1 where the fixed regulator for the
HDMI +5V pin relies on the flags quirk for the proper polarity.

Modify the way the debugfs interface works in gpio-mockup. Introduce
the concept of dummy pull config which will keep the mockup lines in
known state. The pull values can be modified by writing to the debugfs

it will revert back to the one specified by current pull when released.

Since commit d6cd33ad71 ("regulator: gpio: Convert to use descriptors")
the GPIO regulator had inverted the polarity of the control GPIO. This
problem manifested itself on systems with DT containing the following
description (snippet from salvator-common.dtsi):
gpios = <&gpio5 1 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>;
gpios-states = <1>;
states = <3300000 1
1800000 0>;
Prior to the aforementioned commit, the gpio-regulator code used
gpio_request_array() to claim the GPIO(s) specified in the "gpios"
DT node, while the commit changed that to devm_gpiod_get_index().
The legacy gpio_request_array() calls gpio_request_one() and then
gpiod_request(), which parses the DT flags of the "gpios" node and
populates the GPIO descriptor flags field accordingly.
The new devm_gpiod_get_index() calls gpiod_get_index(), then
of_find_gpio(), of_get_named_gpiod_flags() with flags != NULL,
and then of_gpio_flags_quirks(). Since commit a603a2b8d8
("gpio: of: Add special quirk to parse regulator flags"),
of_gpio_flags_quirks() contains a quirk for regulator-gpio
which was never triggered by the legacy gpio_request_array()
code path, but is triggered by devm_gpiod_get_index() code
path.
This quirk checks whether a GPIO is associated with a fixed
or gpio-regulator and if so, checks two additional conditions.
First, whether such GPIO is active-low, and if so, ignores the
active-low flag. Second, whether the regulator DT node does
have an "enable-active-high" property and if the property is
NOT present, sets the GPIO flags as active-low.
The second check triggers a problem, since it is applied to all
GPIOs associated with a gpio-regulator, rather than only on the
"enable" GPIOs, as the old code did. This changes the way the
gpio-regulator interprets the DT description of the control
GPIOs.
The old code using gpio_request_array() explicitly parsed the
"enable-active-high" DT property and only applied it to the
GPIOs described in the "enable-gpios" DT node, and only if
those were present.
This patch fixes the quirk code by only applying the quirk
to "enable-gpios", thus restoring the old behavior.

pcf857x_irq_set_wake() does not need to do anything else than calling

keeping a copy of the interrupt number that also serves as a flag.
Just propagate irq_set_irq_wake() to the upstream interrupt controller,

The Zynq GPIO driver currently implements runtime PM by:
- Enabling runtime PM support in ->probe() and letting the runtime PM
reference counter drop to zero at the end of ->probe().
- Increasing the runtime PM reference counter in ->request() and
decreasing it in ->free().
However, the latter is not sufficient: when a GPIO is used as an
interrupt, ->request() and ->free() are not called. Due to this, the
runtime PM counter remains to zero when the only GPIOs in use are used
as interrupts, causing them to simply not work.
To address this problem, this commit implement the
->irq_request_resources() and ->irq_release_resources() hooks,
ensuring that the runtime PM counter is properly
incremented/decremented. Since we override the default hooks, we keep
the existing behavior by making sure they call gpiochip_reqres_irq() /
gpiochip_relres_irq() respectively.

This commit adds support for configuring the pull-up and pull-down
resistors available in some GPIO controllers. While configuring
pull-up/pull-down is already possible through the pinctrl subsystem,
some GPIO controllers, especially simple ones such as GPIO expanders
on I2C, don't have any pinmuxing capability and therefore do not use
the pinctrl subsystem.
This commit implements the GPIO_PULL_UP and GPIO_PULL_DOWN flags,
which can be used from the Device Tree, to enable a pull-up or
pull-down resistor on a given GPIO.
The flag is simply propagated all the way to the core GPIO subsystem,

Interupts were generated using GPIN interrupts of
ADP5588. These interrupts have two important limitations:
1. Interrupts can only be generated for either rising or
falling edges but not both.
2. Interrupts are reasserted as long as the interrupt condition
persists (i.e. high or low level on that GPIN). This generates
lots of interrupts unless the event is very short.
To overcome this, ADP5588 provides an event system which queues
up to 10 events in a buffer. GPIN events are queued whenever the
GPIN is asserted or deasserted. This makes it possible to support
generating GPIN interrupts for both edges and to generate only one
interrupt per state change.
Thus it is possible to chain the gpio-keys driver for some GPIOs.

On SoC reset all GPIO interrupts are disable. However, if kexec is
used to boot into a new kernel, the SoC does not experience a
reset. Hence GPIO interrupts can be left enabled from the previous
kernel. It is then possible for the interrupt to fire before an
interrupt handler is registered, resulting in the kernel complaining
of an "unexpected IRQ trap", the interrupt is never cleared, and so
fires again, resulting in an interrupt storm.
Disable all GPIO interrupts before registering the GPIO IRQ chip.

R-Car GPIO controller provides two interfaces to set GPIO line output
signal state, and for a particular GPIO line the selected interface is
determined by OUTDTSEL bit value.
At the moment the driver supports only one of two interfaces, namely
OUTDT General Output Register is used to control the output signal.
While this selection is the default one on reset, it is not explicitly
configured on probe, thus it might be possible that kernel and userspace
consumers of a GPIO won't be able to set the wanted GPIO output signal.
Below is a simple test case to reproduce the described problem and
verify this fix in the kernel on H3 ULCB by setting non-default OUTDTSEL
configuration from a bootloader:

When a system has two PCA953x GPIO expanders, the kernel complains with:
gpio gpiochip2: (0-0021): detected irqchip that is shared with multiple gpiochips: please fix the driver.
Indeed, there is a single instance of "struct irq_chip" that gets
re-used for both PCA953x instance. This commit moves the "struct
irq_chip" to be part of the "struct pca953x_chip", so that we have one
"struct irq_chip" per PCA953X instance.
As part of this, the name of the irq_chip is also made different on a
per-instance basis, now using the dev_name() of the I2C device. This
changes what is visible in /proc/interrupts.

The current design of pca953x_irq_setup() is:
if (all conditions to support IRQ are met) {
lots of code to support IRQs, which goes to a serious indentation
level.
}
return 0;
It makes more sense to handle this like this:
if (!all conditions to support IRQ are met)
return 0;
handle IRQ support
This commit does just this change, reducing by one tab the indentation
level of the IRQ setup code. Thanks to this reduced indentation level,
we are less restricted by the 80-column limit, and we can have more
function arguments on the same line.

__acpi_gpio_update_gpiod_flags purpose is to make the gpiod_flags used
when requesting a GPIO match the restrictions from the ACPI resource,
as stored in acpi_gpio_info.flags.
But acpi_gpio_info.flags only contains direction info, and the
requester may have passed in special non-direction flags like
GPIOD_FLAGS_BIT_NONEXCLUSIVE, which we currently clobber.
This commit modifies __acpi_gpio_update_gpiod_flags to preserve these
special flags, so that a requested of an ACPI GPIO can e.g. pass
GPIOD_FLAGS_BIT_NONEXCLUSIV and have it work as intended.

- Some core changes are already in outside of this pull
request as they came through the regulator tree, most
notably devm_gpiod_unhinge() that removes devres refcount
management from a GPIO descriptor. This is needed in
subsystems such as regulators where the regulator core
need to take over the reference counting and lifecycle
management for a GPIO descriptor.
- We dropped devm_gpiochip_remove() and devm_gpio_chip_match()
as nothing needs it. We can bring it back if need be.
- Add a global TODO so people see where we are going. This
helps setting the direction now that we are two GPIO
maintainers.
- Handle the MMC CD/WP properties in the device tree core.
(The bulk of patches activating this code is already
merged through the MMC/SD tree.)
- Augment gpiochip_request_own_desc() to pass a flag so
we as gpiochips can request lines as active low or open
drain etc even from ourselves.
New drivers:
- New driver for Cadence GPIO blocks.
- New driver for Atmel SAMA5D2 PIOBU GPIO lines.
Driver improvements:
- A major refactoring of the PCA953x driver - this driver has
been around for ages, and is now modernized to reduce code
duplication that has stacked up and is using regmap to read
write and cache registers.
- Intel drivers are now maintained in a separate tree and
start with a round of cleanups and unifications.

This has been a busy release for the regmap-irq code, there's several
new features been added, including an API cleanup for how we specify
types that affected one existing driver (gpio-max77620):
- Support for hardware that flags rising and falling edges on separate
status bits from Bartosz Golaszewski.
- Support for explicitly clearing interrupts before unmasking from
Bartosz Golaszewski.
- Support for level triggered IRQs from Matti Vaittinen.

Commit ec0daae685 ("gpio: omap: Add level wakeup handling for omap4
based SoCs") attempted to fix omap4 GPIO wakeup handling as it was
blocking deeper SoC idle states. However this caused a regression for
GPIOs during runtime having over second long latencies for Ethernet
GPIO interrupt as reportedy by Russell King <rmk+kernel@armlinux.org.uk>.
Let's fix this issue by doing a partial revert of the breaking commit.
We still want to keep the quirk handling around as it is also used for
OMAP_GPIO_QUIRK_IDLE_REMOVE_TRIGGER.
The real fix for omap4 GPIO wakeup handling involves fixes for
omap_set_gpio_trigger() and omap_gpio_unmask_irq() and will be posted
separately. And we must keep the wakeup bit enabled during runtime
because of module doing clock autogating with autoidle configured.

Add level active IRQ support to regmap-irq irqchip. Change breaks
existing regmap-irq type setting. Convert the existing drivers which
use regmap-irq with trigger type setting (gpio-max77620) to work
with this new approach. So we do not magically support level-active
IRQs on gpio-max77620 - but add support to the regmap-irq for chips
which support them =)
We do not support distinguishing situation where HW supports rising
and falling edge detection but not both. Separating this would require
inventing yet another flags for IRQ types.

The device tree bindings for the MMC card detect and
write protect lines specify that these should be active
low unless "cd-inverted" or "wp-inverted" has been
specified.
However that is not how the kernel code has worked. It
has always respected the flags passed to the phandle in
the device tree, but respected the "cd-inverted" and
"wp-inverted" flags such that if those are set, the
polarity will be the inverse of that specified in the
device tree.
Switch to behaving like the old code did and fix the
regression.

Instead of using the name directly from the I2C client
to name the gpio_chip, use dev_name() on the client->dev,
so we get the sometimes more unique device name, as I2C has
a mechanism for naming its devices explicitly in e.g.

This is a prerequisite for being able to reference

The multi-byte IO on various pca953x chips requires the auto-increment bit,
while other chips toggle the LSbit automatically. Note that LSbit toggling
only alternates between two registers during the IO, it is not the same as
address auto-increment. The driver currently assumes that #gpios > 16 implies
auto-increment, while #gpios <= 16 implies LSbit toggling. This is incorrect
at there are chips with 16 GPIOs which require the auto-increment bit.
The PCA9575, according to NXP datasheet rev. 4.2 from 16 April 2015, section
7.3 Command Register, the bit 7 in command register is the auto-increment
bit, which allows programming multiple registers sequentially.
Set this bit both in pca953x_gpio_set_multiple(), where it fixes the multi
register programming, and in pca957x_write_regs_16(), where is simplifies
the function. In fact, the pca957x_write_regs_16() now looks rather similar
to pca953x_write_regs_24() and pca953x_write_regs_16(), which is intended
for subsequent patches.

The PCAL_PINCTRL_MASK is too large. The extended register block on

Before things go out of hand, make it possible to pass
flags when requesting "own" descriptors from a gpio_chip.
This is necessary if the chip wants to request a GPIO with
active low semantics, for example.

This adds a function named devm_gpiod_unhinge() that removes
the resource management from a GPIO descriptor.
I am not sure if this is the best anglosaxon name for the
function, no other managed resources have an equivalent
currently, but I chose "unhinge" as the closest intuitive
thing I could imagine that fits Rusty Russell's API design
criterions "the obvious use is the correct one" and
"the name tells you how to use it".
The idea came out of a remark from Mark Brown that it should
be possible to handle over management of a resource from
devres to the regulator core, and indeed we can do that.

When we get a nonexeclusive GPIO descriptor using managed
resources, we should only add it to the list of managed
resources once: on the first user. Augment the
devm_gpiod_get_index() and devm_gpiod_get_from_of_node()
calls to account for this by checking if the descriptor
is already resource managed before we proceed to allocate
a new resource management struct.

This function already exist inside gpiolib, we were just
reluctant to make it available to the kernel at large as
the devm_* seemed to be enough for anyone.
However we found out that regulators need to do their own
lifecycle/refcounting on GPIO descriptors and explicitly
call gpiod_put() when done with a descriptor, so export
this function so we can hand the refcounting over to the
regulator core for these descriptors after retrieveal.

Commit 78d3a92edb ("gpiolib-acpi: Register GpioInt ACPI event handlers
from a late_initcall") deferred the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt
call for each event resource.
This means it also delays the gpiochip_request_own_desc(..., "ACPI:Event")
call. This is a problem if some AML code reads the GPIO pin before we
run the deferred acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt, because in that case
acpi_gpio_adr_space_handler() will already have called
gpiochip_request_own_desc(..., "ACPI:OpRegion") causing the call from
acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt to fail with -EBUSY and we will fail to
register an event handler.
acpi_gpio_adr_space_handler is prepared for acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt
already having claimed the pin, but the other way around does not work.
One example of a problem this causes, is the event handler for the OTG
ID pin on a Prowise PT301 tablet not registering, keeping the port stuck
in whatever mode it was in during boot and e.g. only allowing charging
after a reboot.
This commit fixes this by only deferring the request_irq call and the
initial run of edge-triggered IRQs instead of deferring all of
acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt.

The change adds support of LPC18xx/LPC43xx GPIO pin interrupt controller
block within SoC GPIO controller. The new interrupt controller driver
allows to configure and capture edge or level interrupts on 8 arbitrary
selectedinput GPIO pins, and lift the signals to be reported as NVIC rising
edge interrupts. Configuration of a particular GPIO pin to serve as
interrupt and its mapping to an interrupt on NVIC is done by SCU pin
controller, for more details see description of 'nxp,gpio-pin-interrupt'
device tree property of a GPIO pin [1].
From LPC18xx and LPC43xx User Manuals the GPIO controller consists of
the following blocks:
* GPIO pin interrupt block at 0x40087000, this change adds its support,
* GPIO GROUP0 interrupt block at 0x40088000,
* GPIO GROUP1 interrupt block at 0x40089000,
* GPIO port block at 0x400F4000, it is supported by the original driver.
While all 4 sub-controller blocks have their own I/O addresses, moreover
all 3 interrupt blocks are APB0 peripherals and high-speed GPIO block is
an AHB slave, according to the hardware manual the GPIO controller is
seen as a single block, and 4 sub-controllers have the shared reset signal
RGU #28 and clock to register interface CLK_CPU_GPIO on CCU1.
Likely support of two GPIO group interrupt blocks won't be added in short
term, because the mechanism to mask several interrupt sources is not well
defined.

When retrieveing CD (card detect) and WP (write protect)
GPIO handles from the device tree, make sure to assign
them active low by default unless the "cd-inverted" or
"wp-inverted" properties are set. These properties mean
that respective signal is active HIGH since the SDHCI
specification stipulates that this kind of signals
should be treated as active LOW.
If the twocell GPIO flag is also specified as active
low, well that's nice and we will silently ignore the
tautological specification.
If however the GPIO line is specified as active low
in the GPIO flasg cell and "cd-inverted" or "wp-inverted"
is also specified, the latter takes precedence and we
print a warning.
The current effect on the MMC slot-gpio core are as
follows:
For CD GPIOs: no effect. The current code in
mmc/core/host.c calls mmc_gpiod_request_cd() with
the "override_active_level" argument set to true,
which means that whatever the GPIO descriptor
thinks about active low/high will be ignored, the
core will use the MMC_CAP2_CD_ACTIVE_HIGH to keep
track of this and reads the raw value from the
GPIO descriptor, totally bypassing gpiolibs inversion
semantics. I plan to clean this up at a later point
passing the handling of inversion semantics over
to gpiolib, so this patch prepares the ground for
that.
Fow WP GPIOs: this is probably fixing a bug, because
the code in mmc/core/host.c calls mmc_gpiod_request_ro()
with the "override_active_level" argument set to false,
which means it will respect the inversion semantics of
the gpiolib and ignore the MMC_CAP2_RO_ACTIVE_HIGH
flag for everyone using this through device tree.
However the code in host.c confusingly goes to great
lengths setting up the MMC_CAP2_RO_ACTIVE_HIGH flag
from the GPIO descriptor and by reading the "wp-inverted"
property of the node. As far as I can tell this is all
in vain and the inversion is broken: device trees that
use "wp-inverted" do not work as intended, instead the
only way to actually get inversion on a line is by
setting the second cell flag to GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH (which
will be the default) or GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW if they want
the proper MMC semantics. Presumably all device trees do
this right but we need to parse and handle this properly.

mode for da850-evm since we can no longer request the MDIO clock GPIO.
Other boards may be broken too, which I haven't tested.
The problem is in the fact that most board files still use the legacy
GPIO API where lines are requested by numbers rather than descriptors.
While this should be fixed eventually, in order to unbreak the board
for now - provide a way to manually specify the GPIO base in platform
data.

As pointed out by Gregor, spitz keyboard matrix is broken, with or
without CONFIG_PINCTRL set, quoting :
"The gpio matrix keypard on the Zaurus C3x00 (see spitz.c) does not work
properly. Noticeable are that rshift+c does nothing where as lshift+c
creates C. Opposite it is for rshift+a vs lshift+a, here only rshift
works. This affects a few other combinations using the rshift or lshift
buttons."
As a matter of fact, as for platform_data based builds CONFIG_PINCTRL=n
is required for now (as opposed for devicetree builds where it should be
set), this means gpio driver should change the direction, which is what
was attempted by commit c4e5ffb6f2 ("gpio: pxa: fix legacy non pinctrl
aware builds").
Unfortunately, the input case was inverted, and the direction change was
never done. This wasn't seen up until now because the initial platform
setup (MFP) was setting this direction. Yet in Gregory's case, the
matrix-keypad driver changes back and forth the direction dynamically,
and this is why he's the first to report it.

Commit 48207d7595 ("gpio: drop devm_gpiochip_remove()") dropped the
last user of drop devm_gpio_chip_match(), causing a defined but not used

The change corrects the error path in gpiochip_add_data_with_key()
by avoiding to call ida_simple_remove(), if ida_simple_get() returns
an error.
Note that ida_simple_remove()/ida_free() throws a BUG(), if id argument
is negative, it allows to easily check the correctness of the fix by
fuzzing the return value from ida_simple_get().

gpiod_request_commit() copies the pointer to the label passed as
an argument only to be used later. But there's a chance the caller
could immediately free the passed string(e.g., local variable).
This could trigger a use after free when we use gpio label(e.g.,
gpiochip_unlock_as_irq(), gpiochip_is_requested()).
To be on the safe side: duplicate the string with kstrdup_const()
so that if an unaware user passes an address to a stack-allocated
buffer, we won't get the arbitrary label.
Also fix gpiod_set_consumer_name().

Keeping the irq_chip definition static will make it shared with multiple
giochips in the system. This practice is considered to be bad and now we
will get the below warning from gpiolib core:
"detected irqchip that is shared with multiple gpiochips: please fix the
driver."
Hence, move the irq_chip definition from static to `struct pl061` for
using a unique irq_chip for each gpiochip.

There is hardly any reason to call devm_gpiochip_remove() because the
driver core handles calling gpiochip_remove() automatically.
To make it harder to introduce new (and probably unneeded) callers, drop
the function.

With a new subsystem co-maintainer on board it is good to draw
up the ongoing changes and future plans for the subsystem, i.e.
what is in my head and being worked on long term.
What better way is there than simply adding a TODO right in the
code and send it out to the mailing list.

Core changes:
- A patch series from Hans Verkuil to make it possible to
enable/disable IRQs on a GPIO line at runtime and drive GPIO
lines as output without having to put/get them from scratch.
The irqchip callbacks have been improved so that they can
use only the fastpatch callbacks to enable/disable irqs
like any normal irqchip, especially the gpiod_lock_as_irq()
has been improved to be callable in fastpath context.
A bunch of rework had to be done to achieve this but it is
a big win since I never liked to restrict this to slowpath.
The only call requireing slowpath was try_module_get() and
this is kept at the .request_resources() slowpath callback.
In the GPIO CEC driver this is a big win sine a single
line is used for both outgoing and incoming traffic, and
this needs to use IRQs for incoming traffic while actively
driving the line for outgoing traffic.
- Janusz Krzysztofik improved the GPIO array API to pass a
"cookie" (struct gpio_array) and a bitmap for setting or
getting multiple GPIO lines at once. This improvement
orginated in a specific need to speed up an OMAP1 driver and
has led to a much better API and real performance gains
when the state of the array can be used to bypass a lot
of checks and code when we want things to go really fast.
The previous code would minimize the number of calls
down to the driver callbacks assuming the CPU speed was
orders of magnitude faster than the I/O latency, but this
assumption was wrong on several platforms: what we needed
to do was to profile and improve the speed on the hot
path of the array functions and this change is now
completed.
- Clean out the painful and hard to grasp BNF experiments
from the device tree bindings. Future approaches are looking
into using JSON schema for this purpose. (Rob Herring
is floating a patch series.)
New drivers:
- The RCAR driver now supports r8a774a1 (RZ/G2M).
- Synopsys GPIO via CREGs driver.
Major improvements:
- Modernization of the EP93xx driver to use irqdomain and
other contemporary concepts.
- The ingenic driver has been merged into the Ingenic pin
control driver and removed from the GPIO subsystem.
- Debounce support in the ftgpio010 driver.

Pull pin control updates from Linus Walleij:
"This is the bulk of pin control changes for the v4.20 series:
There were no significant changes to the core this time! Bur the new
Qualcomm, Mediatek and Broadcom drivers are quite interesting as they
will be used in a few million embedded devices the coming years as it
seems.
New drivers:
- Broadcom Northstar pin control driver.
- Mediatek MT8183 subdriver.
- Mediatek MT7623 subdriver.
- Mediatek MT6765 subdriver.
- Meson g12a subdriver.
- Nuvoton NPCM7xx pin control and GPIO driver.
- Qualcomm QCS404 pin control and GPIO subdriver.
- Qualcomm SDM660 pin control and GPIO subdriver.
- Renesas R8A7744 PFC subdriver.
- Renesas R8A774C0 PFC subdriver.
- Renesas RZ/N1 pinctrl driver
Major improvements:
- Pulled the GPIO support for Ingenic over from the GPIO subsystem
and consolidated it all in the Ingenic pin control driver.
- Major cleanups and consolidation work in all Intel drivers.
- Major cleanups and consolidation work in all Mediatek drivers.
- Lots of incremental improvements to the Renesas PFC pin controller
family.
- All drivers doing GPIO now include <linux/gpio/driver.h> and
nothing else"

We want to set the irq parent for interrupts that we're setting up to be
cascaded from another interrupt controller, but we may or may not have
already mapped the gpiochip irqs into the kernel's virtual irq number
space at this point. If we have mapped irqs before calling here, then
we've gone through gpiochip_irq_map() and called irq_set_parent()
already. If we haven't mapped irqs, then the gpiochip is dynamically
mapping irqs and we can rely on gpiochip_irq_map() or the gpio driver's
irqdomain ops to setup the irq parent properly.
Either way, setting the parent here when cascading the gpiochip doesn't
make much sense because it should be done at irq mapping time. In the
dynamic mapping case, this code is mapping virq 0 to some parent virq in
a loop. While that's benign, let's drop this code to simplify.

This allows nonexclusive (simultaneous) access to a single
GPIO line for the fixed regulator enable line. This happens
when several regulators use the same GPIO for enabling and
disabling a regulator, and all need a handle on their GPIO
descriptor.
This solution with a special flag is not entirely elegant
and should ideally be replaced by something more careful as
this makes it possible for several consumers to
enable/disable the same GPIO line to the left and right
without any consistency. The current use inside the regulator
core should however be fine as it takes special care to
handle this.
For the state of the GPIO backend, this is still the
lesser evil compared to going back to global GPIO
numbers.

gpiochip_set_cascaded_irqchip() is passed 'parent_irq' as an argument
and then the address of that argument is assigned to the gpio chips
gpio_irq_chip 'parents' pointer shortly thereafter. This can't ever
work, because we've just assigned some stack address to a pointer that
we plan to dereference later in gpiochip_irq_map(). I ran into this
issue with the KASAN report below when gpiochip_irq_map() tried to setup
the parent irq with a total junk pointer for the 'parents' array.

It is possible to have _DSD entries where the data is compatible with
device properties format but are using different GUID for various reasons.
In addition to that there can be many such _DSD entries for a single device
such as for PCIe root port used to host a Thunderbolt hierarchy:
Scope (\_SB.PCI0.RP21)
{
Name (_DSD, Package () {
ToUUID ("6211e2c0-58a3-4af3-90e1-927a4e0c55a4"),
Package () {
Package () {"HotPlugSupportInD3", 1}
},
ToUUID ("efcc06cc-73ac-4bc3-bff0-76143807c389"),
Package () {
Package () {"ExternalFacingPort", 1},
Package () {"UID", 0 }
}
})
}
More information about these new _DSD entries can be found in:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/pci/dsd-for-pcie-root-ports
To make these available for drivers via unified device property APIs,
modify ACPI property core so that it supports multiple _DSD entries
organized in a linked list. We also store GUID of each _DSD entry in struct
acpi_device_properties in case there is need to differentiate between
entries. The supported GUIDs are then listed in prp_guids array.

OMAP GPIO driver is checking !BANK_USED() used condition before calling PM
runtime API, because of PM runtime calls in
omap2_gpio_prepare/resume_for_idle(). It's not required any more since
"omap gpio add level idle, cpu_pm and drop runtime_irq_safe" series [1]
from Tony Lindgren was accepted and PM runtime management was enabled in
IRQ chip core by commit be45beb2df ("genirq: Add runtime power management
support for IRQ chips") .
As result safely drop !BANK_USED() checks from omap_gpio_request/free(),
omap_gpio_irq_bus_lock/unlock() and enable PM runtime management for OMAP
GPIO IRQ chip.

Commit b17566a6b0 ("gpiolib: Implement fast processing path in
get/set array"), already fixed to some extent with commit 5d581d7e8cdc
("gpiolib: Fix missing updates of bitmap index"), introduced a new mode
of processing bitmaps where bits applicable for fast bitmap processing
path are supposed to be skipped while iterating bits which don't apply.
Unfortunately, find_next_zero_bit() function supposed to skip over
those fast bits is always called with a 'start' argument equal to an
index of last zero bit found and returns that index value again an
again, causing an infinite loop.
Fix it by incrementing the index uncoditionally before
find_next_zero_bit() is optionally called.

For a long time the gpio-omap custom PM calls have been annoying me so
let's replace them with cpu_pm instead. This will enable GPIO PM for
deeper idle states on omap4. And we can handle GPIO PM for omap2/3/4
in the same way.
Note that with this patch we are also slightly changing GPIO PM to be
less aggressive for omap3 and only will idle GPIO when PER context
may be lost.
For omap2, we don't need to save context and don't want to remove any
triggering so let's add a quirk flag for that.
Let's do this all in a single patch to avoid a situation where old
custom calls still are used with new code.

I noticed that unlike omap2 and 3 based SoCs, omap4 based SoCs keep
the GPIO clocks enabled for GPIO level interrupts with wakeup enabled.
This blocks deeper idle states as the whole domain will stay busy.
The GPIO functional clock seems to stay enabled if the wakeup register
is enabled and a level interrupt is triggered. In that case the only
way to have the GPIO module idle is to reset it. It is possible this
has gone unnoticed with OSWR (Open SWitch Retention) and off mode
during idle resetting GPIO context most GPIO instances in the earlier
Android trees for example.
Looks like the way to deal with this is to have omap4 based SoCs
only set wake for the duration of idle for level interrupts, and clear
level registers for the idle. With level interrupts we can do this as
the level interrupt from device will be still there on resume.
I've taken the long path to fixing this to avoid yet more hard to
read code. I've set up a quirks flag, and a struct for function
pointers so we can use these to clean up other quirk handling easier
in the later patches. The current level quirk handling is moved to
the new functions.

New code introduced by commit bf9346f5d4 ("gpiolib: Identify arrays
matching GPIO hardware") forcibly tries to find an array member which
has its array index number equal to its hardware pin number and set
up an array info for possible fast bitmap processing of all arrray
pins belonging to that chip which also satisfy that numbering rule.
Depending on array content, it may happen that consecutive array
members which belong to the same chip but don't have array indexes
equal to their pin hardware numbers will be split into groups, some of
them processed together via the fast bitmap path, and rest of them
separetely. However, applications may expect all those pins being
processed together with a single call to .set_multiple() chip callback,
like that was done before the change.
Limit applicability of fast bitmap processing path to cases where all
pins of consecutive array members starting from 0 which belong to the
same chip have their hardware numbers equal to their corresponding
array indexes. That should still speed up processing of applications
using whole GPIO banks as I/O ports, while not breaking simultaneous
manipulation of consecutive pins of the same chip which don't follow
the equal numbering rule.

While processing a request for an array of GPIO descriptors, identify

This concerns gpio edge detection for GPIO IRQs used from
userspace for GPIO event listeners.
Trying to work out the right event if it's not sure that the
examined gpio actually moved is impossible.
Consider two gpios "gpioA" and "gpioB" that share an interrupt.
gpioA's irq should trigger on any edge, gpioB's on a falling edge.
If now the common irq fires and both gpio lines are high, there
are several possibilities that could have happend:
a) gpioA just had a low-to-high edge
b) gpioB just had a high-to-low-to-high spike
c) a combination of both a) and b)
While c) is unlikely (in most setups) a) and b) alone are bad
enough. Currently the code assumes case a) unconditionally and
doesn't report an event for gpioB. Note that even if there is no
irq sharing involved a spike for a gpio might not result in an
event if it's configured to trigger for a single edge only.
The only way to improve this is to drop support for interrupt
sharing. This way a spike results in an event for the right gpio
at least. Note that apart from dropping IRQF_SHARED this
effectively undoes commit df1e76f28f
("gpiolib: skip unwanted events, don't convert them to opposite edge").
This obviously breaks setups that rely on interrupt sharing,
but given that this cannot be reliable, this is probably an
acceptable trade-off.

The SPI chipselects are assumed to be active low in the current
binding, so when we want to use GPIO descriptors and handle
the active low/high semantics in gpiolib, we need a special
parsing quirk to deal with this.
We check for the property "spi-cs-high" and if that is
NOT present we assume the CS line is active low.
If the line is tagged as active low in the device tree and
has no "spi-cs-high" property all is fine, the device
tree and the SPI bindings are in agreement.
If the line is tagged as active high in the device tree with
the second cell flag and has no "spi-cs-high" property we
enforce active low semantics (as this is the exception we can
just tag on the flag).
If the line is tagged as active low with the second cell flag
AND tagged with "spi-cs-high" the SPI active high property
takes precedence and we print a warning.

GPIO drivers call gpiochip_(un)lock_as_irq whenever they want to use a gpio
as an interrupt. This is done when the irq is requested and it marks the
gpio as in use by an interrupt.
This is problematic for cases where a gpio pin is used as an interrupt
pin, then, after the irq is disabled, is used as a regular gpio pin.
Currently it is not possible to do this other than by first freeing
the interrupt so gpiochip_unlock_as_irq is called, since an attempt to
switch the gpio direction for output will fail since gpiolib believes
that the gpio is in use for an interrupt and it does not know that it
the irq is actually disabled.
There are currently two drivers that would like to be able to do this:
the tda998x_drv.c driver where a regular gpio pin needs to be temporarily
reconfigured as an interrupt pin during CEC calibration, and the cec-gpio
driver where you want to configure the gpio pin as an interrupt while
waiting for traffic over the CEC bus, or as a regular pin when receiving or
transmitting a CEC message.
The solution is to add a new flag that is set when the irq is enabled,
and have gpiod_direction_output check for that flag.
We also add functions that drivers that do not use GPIOLIB_IRQCHIP
can call when they enable/disable the irq.

One way to fix this would be to rework the hairy registration sequence
in gpiochip_add_data_with_key(), but since I'd probably introduce a
couple of new bugs if I attempted that, simply add a check for a
non-NULL of_xlate function pointer in
of_gpiochip_match_node_and_xlate(). This works since the driver looking
for the gpio will simply fail to find the gpio and defer its probe and
be reprobed when the driver which is registering the gpiochip has fully
completed its probe.

Sometimes we have empty banks within the GPIO block. This commit allows
proper handling of 0 width GPIO banks. We handle 0 width GPIO banks by
incrementing the bank and number of GPIOs, but not initializing them.
This will mean a call into the non-existent GPIOs will return an error.
Also remove "GPIO registered" dev print. This information is misleading
since the incremented banks and gpio_base do not reflect the actual GPIOs
that get initialized. We leave this information out since it is already
printed with dev_dbg.

The FTGPIO010 has a debounce timer or rather prescaler that
will affect interrupts fireing off the block. We can support
this to get proper debounce on e.g. keypresses.
Since the same prescaler is used across all GPIO lines of
the silicon block, we need to bail out if the prescaler is
already set and in use by another line.
If the prescaler is already set to what we need, fine, we
reuse it. This happens more often than not when the same
debounce time is set for several GPIO keys, so we support
that usecase easily with this code.

The GPIO silicon is clocked with a PCLK (peripheral clock)
on all systems, however not all platforms model it and include
it in e.g. the device tree, so add clock handling but make it
optional so we bail out safely if it is e.g. always on.

In the corner case where the gpio driver probe fails, for whatever
reason, the suspend and resume handlers will still be called as they
have to be registered as syscore operations. This applies as well when
no probe was called while the driver has been built in the kernel.
Nicolas tracked this in :
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200905
Therefore, add a failsafe in these function, and test if a proper probe
succeeded and the driver is functional.

GpioInt ACPI event handlers may see there IRQ triggered immediately
after requesting the IRQ (esp. level triggered ones). This means that they
may run before any other (builtin) drivers have had a chance to register
their OpRegion handlers, leading to errors like this:
[ 1.133274] ACPI Error: No handler for Region [PMOP] ((____ptrval____)) [UserDefinedRegion] (20180531/evregion-132)
[ 1.133286] ACPI Error: Region UserDefinedRegion (ID=141) has no handler (20180531/exfldio-265)
[ 1.133297] ACPI Error: Method parse/execution failed \_SB.GPO2._L01, AE_NOT_EXIST (20180531/psparse-516)
We already defer the manual initial trigger of edge triggered interrupts
by running it from a late_initcall handler, this commit replaces this with
deferring the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() call till then,
fixing the problem of some OpRegions not being registered yet.
Note that this removes the need to have a list of edge triggered handlers
which need to run, since the entire acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupts() call
is now delayed, acpi_gpiochip_request_interrupt() can call these directly
now.

The commit ca876c7483
("gpiolib-acpi: make sure we trigger edge events at least once on boot")
added a initial value check for pin which is about to be locked as IRQ.
Unfortunately, not all GPIO drivers can do that atomically. Thus,
switch to cansleep version of the call. Otherwise we have a warning:

circular call to convert between GPIO numbers and IRQs
and pushes the whole business into the driver, just
using an array of IRQ bases for the three IRQ capable

In the IRQ-related functions, switch to using the hwirq
and port number found from the current struct gpio_chip *
As the lower 3 bits of the IRQ number is identical to the
lower 3 bits of the GPIO number we can cut some corners.
Call directly into the gpiochip to set up the direction
and read the input instead of using the consumer API.
This enabled us to cut the confusing irq_to_gpio() macro
that is a remnant of the old generic GPIO API as well.

For setting debounce config we want to write an offset in
a per-gpiochip register, and we know which gpiochip we are
on. Instead of a roundtrip over the IRQ number, figure out
what port we are on for this GPIO chip, then index to the
right register and write the value.
This adds the ep93xx_gpio_port() that finds the port index
from a struct gpio_chip * that we can later exploit to
simplify more code.
