Arjan van dev Ven fcea424d31 fix historic ioremap() abuse in AGP
Several AGP drivers right now use ioremap_nocache() on kernel ram in order
to turn a page of regular memory uncached.

There are two problems with this:

    1) This is a total nightmare for the ioremap() implementation to keep
       various mappings of the same page coherent.

    2) It's a total nightmare for the AGP code since it adds a ton of
       complexity in terms of keeping track of 2 different pointers to
       the same thing, in terms of error handling etc etc.

This patch fixes this by making the AGP drivers use the new
set_memory_XX APIs instead.

Note: amd-k7-agp.c is built on Alpha too, and generic.c is built
on ia64 as well, which do not yet have the set_memory_*() APIs,
so for them some we have a few ugly #ifdefs - hopefully they'll
be fixed soon.

Dave Airlie 4d64dd9e5d intel-agp: fixup resource handling in flush code.
The flush code resource handling was having problems where some BIOS
reserve the resource in a pnp block and some don't.

Also there was a bug in that configure was being called at resume
and resetting some of the structs.

In the face of containers and user namespaces, a uid==0 check for
security is not safe.  Switch to a capability check.

I'm not sure I picked the right capability, but this being AGP
CAP_SYS_RAWIO seemed to make sense.

This is a bit of a large hammer but it makes sure the chipset is flushed
by writing out 1k of data to an uncached page. We may be able to get better
information in the future on how to this better.

Dave Airlie 6c00a61e1b intel-agp: add chipset flushing support
This adds support for flushing the chipsets on the 915, 945, 965 and G33
families of Intel chips.

The BIOS doesn't seem to always allocate the BAR on the 965 chipsets
so I have to use pci resource code to create a resource

It adds an export for pcibios_align_resource.

Dave Airlie a13af4b4d8 agp: add chipset flushing support to AGP interface
This bumps the AGP interface to 0.103.

Certain Intel chipsets contains a global write buffer, and this can require
flushing from the drm or X.org to make sure all data has hit RAM before
initiating a GPU transfer, due to a lack of coherency with the integrated
graphics device and this buffer.

This just adds generic support to the AGP interfaces, a follow-on patch
will add support to the Intel driver to use this interface.

callers to do a global tlb flush after the function call; forgetting this is

H. Peter Anvin 6619a8fb59 x86: Create clflush() inline, remove hardcoded wbinvd

and use it instead of hard-coding the instruction.

Fengguang Wu e57aa839ce convert ill defined log2() to ilog2()
It's *wrong* to have
			#define log2(n) ffz(~(n))
It should be *reversed*:
			#define log2(n) flz(~(n))
or
			#define log2(n) fls(n)
or just use
			ilog2(n) defined in linux/log2.h.

This patch follows the last solution, recommended by Andrew Morton.

Jesper Juhl bdc3e603cd fix use after free in amd create gatt pages
Coverity spotted a "use after free" bug in
drivers/char/agp/amd-k7-agp.c::amd_create_gatt_pages().

The problem is this:
	If "entry = kzalloc(sizeof(struct amd_page_map), GFP_KERNEL);"
fails, then there's a loop in the function to free all entries
allocated so far and break out of the allocation loop. That in itself
is pretty sane, but then the (now freed) 'tables' is assigned to
amd_irongate_private.gatt_pages and 'retval' is set to -ENOMEM which
causes amd_free_gatt_pages(); to be called at the end of the function.
The problem with this is that amd_free_gatt_pages() will then loop
'amd_irongate_private.num_tables' times and try to free each entry in
tables[] - this is bad since tables has already been freed and
furthermore it will call kfree(tables) at the end - a double free.

This patch removes the freeing loop in amd_create_gatt_pages() and
instead relies entirely on the call to amd_free_gatt_pages() to free
everything we allocated in case of an error. It also sets
amd_irongate_private.num_tables to the actual number of entries
allocated instead of just using the value passed in from the caller -
this ensures that amd_free_gatt_pages() will only attempt to free
stuff that was actually allocated.

Dave Airlie a2721e998e AGP fix race condition between unmapping and freeing pages
With Andi's clflush fixup, we were getting hangs on server exit, flushing the
mappings after freeing each page helped.

This showed up a race condition where the pages after being freed could be
reused before the agp mappings had been flushed.  Flushing after each single
page is a bad thing for future drm work, so make the page destroy a two pass
unmapping all the pages, flushing the mappings, and then destroying the pages.

Remove fs.h from mm.h. For this,
 1) Uninline vma_wants_writenotify(). It's pretty huge anyway.
 2) Add back fs.h or less bloated headers (err.h) to files that need it.

As result, on x86_64 allyesconfig, fs.h dependencies cut down from 3929 files
rebuilt down to 3444 (-12.3%).

Cross-compile tested without regressions on my two usual configs and (sigh):

everything we allocated in case of an error. It also sets
ati_generic_private.num_tables to the actual number of entries
allocated instead of just using the value passed in from the caller -
this ensures that ati_free_gatt_pages() will only attempt to free
stuff that was actually allocated.

Note: I'm in no way intimate with this code and I have no way to
actually test this patch (besides compile test it), so while I've
tried to be careful in reading the code and make sure the patch
does the right thing an ACK from someone who actually knows the
code in-depth would be very much appreciated.

Auke Kok 44c10138fd PCI: Change all drivers to use pci_device->revision
Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision
ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member.

This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword
for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the
read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all.

In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what
appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code
and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance.

Compile tested with make all{yes,mod}config on x86_64 and i386.

AGP changes at the same time he does DRM updates.

 don't boot, people assume you're responsible even if 15
 other subsystems initialised after yours. :-) ]

Wang Zhenyu 47d46379eb [AGPGART] intel_agp: don't load if no IGD and AGP port
After i915 chip, GMCH has no AGP port. Origin bridge driver in device
table will try to access illegal regs like APBASE, APSIZE, etc. This
may cause problem.

So mark them as NULL in the table, we won't load if no IGD got detect
and bridge has no AGP port.

Alexey Dobriyan e8edc6e03a Detach sched.h from mm.h
First thing mm.h does is including sched.h solely for can_do_mlock() inline
function which has "current" dereference inside. By dealing with can_do_mlock()
mm.h can be detached from sched.h which is good. See below, why.

This patch
a) removes unconditional inclusion of sched.h from mm.h
b) makes can_do_mlock() normal function in mm/mlock.c
c) exports can_do_mlock() to not break compilation
d) adds sched.h inclusions back to files that were getting it indirectly.
e) adds less bloated headers to some files (asm/signal.h, jiffies.h) that were
   getting them indirectly

Net result is:
a) mm.h users would get less code to open, read, preprocess, parse, ... if
   they don't need sched.h
b) sched.h stops being dependency for significant number of files:
   on x86_64 allmodconfig touching sched.h results in recompile of 4083 files,
   after patch it's only 3744 (-8.3%).

Cross-compile tested on

	all arm defconfigs, all mips defconfigs, all powerpc defconfigs,

Oliver Neukum 82eab1306c [AGPGART] prevent probe collision of sis-agp and amd64_agp
For some vendor/id pairs the kernel will autoload both the sis-agp and the
amd64_agp modules as the sis-agp module will load for all sis devices.
This collision causes the bug reported in:
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=248665

As currently sis_probe does its own matching, requesting the whole range
gains nothing.  The clean fix seems to me to leave the matching to the core
and advertise only the devices actually supported.  This patch does so.

Thomas Hellstrom a030ce4477 [AGPGART] Allow drm-populated agp memory types
This patch allows drm to populate an agpgart structure with pages of its own.
It's needed for the new drm memory manager which dynamically flips pages in and out of AGP.

The patch modifies the generic functions as well as the intel agp driver. The intel drm driver is
currently the only one supporting the new memory manager.

Other agp drivers may need some minor fixing up once they have a corresponding memory manager enabled drm driver.

AGP memory types >= AGP_USER_TYPES are not populated by the agpgart driver, but the drm is expected
to do that, as well as taking care of cache- and tlb flushing when needed.

It's not possible to request these types from user space using agpgart ioctls.

The Intel driver also gets a new memory type for pages that can be bound cached to the intel GTT.

Wang Zhenyu 4b95320fc4 [AGPGART] intel_agp: restore graphics device's pci space early in resume
Currently in resuming path graphics device's pci space restore is
behind host bridge, so resume function wrongly accesses graphics
device's space. This makes resuming failure which crashed X.
here's a patch to restore device's pci space early, which makes
resuming ok with X.

Eric Anholt c41e0deb50 [AGPGART] fix detection of aperture size versus GTT size on G965
On the G965, the GTT size may be larger than is required to cover the
aperture.  (In fact, on all hardware we've seen, the GTT is 512KB to the
aperture's 256MB).  A previous commit forced the aperture size to 512MB on
G965 to match GTT, which would likely result in hangs at best if users
tried to rely on agpgart's aperture size information.  Instead, we use the
resource length for the aperture size and the system's reported GTT size
when available for the GTT size.

Because the MSAC registers which had been read for aperture size detection
on i9xx chips just cause a change in the resource size, we can use generic
code for aperture detection on all i9xx.

Thomas Hellstrom 5aa80c7226 [AGPGART] Remove unnecessary flushes when inserting and removing pages.
This patch is to speed up flipping of pages in and out of the AGP aperture as
needed by the new drm memory manager.

A number of global cache flushes are removed as well as some PCI posting flushes.
The following guidelines have been used:

1) Memory that is only mapped uncached and that has been subject to a global
cache flush after the mapping was changed to uncached does not need any more
cache flushes. Neither before binding to the aperture nor after unbinding.

2) Only do one PCI posting flush after a sequence of writes modifying page
entries in the GATT.

Linus Torvalds 66c669baa7 [AGP] Allocate AGP pages with GFP_DMA32 by default
Not all graphic page remappers support physical addresses over the 4GB
mark for remapping, so while some do (the AMD64 GART always did, and I
just fixed the i965 to do so properly), we're safest off just forcing
GFP_DMA32 allocations to make sure graphics pages get allocated in the
low 32-bit address space by default.

AGP sub-drivers that really care, and can do better, could just choose
to implement their own allocator (or we could add another "64-bit safe"
default allocator for their use), but quite frankly, you're not likely
to care in practice.

So for now, this trivial change means that we won't be allocating pages
that we can't map correctly by mistake on x86-64.

[ On traditional 32-bit x86, this could never happen, because GFP_KERNEL
  would never allocate any highmem memory anyway ]

Linus Torvalds 7d915a3898 [AGP] Fix intel 965 AGP memory mapping function
This introduces a i965-specific "mask_memory()" function that knows
about the extended physical addresses that the i965 supports.  This
allows us to correctly map in physical memory in the >4GB range into the
GTT.

Also simplify/clean-up the i965 case for the aperture sizing by just
returning the fixed 512kB size from "fetch_size()".  We don't really
care that not all of the aperture may be visible - the only thing that
cares about the aperture size is the Intel "stolen memory" calculation,
which depends on the fixed size.

Dave Jones 28af24bb84 [AGPGART] Fix up misprogrammed bridges with incorrect AGPv2 rates.
Some dumb bridges are programmed to disobey the AGP2 spec.
This is likely a BIOS misprogramming rather than poweron default, or
it would be a lot more common.

AGPv2 spec 6.1.9 states:

 "The RATE field indicates the data transfer rates supported by this
  device. A.G.P. devices must report all that apply."

Fix them up as best we can.

This will prevent errors like..

In contrast to most if not all PC BIOSes, OpenFirmware (OF) on PowerMacs with
UniNorth bridges does not allow changing the aperture size. The size set up by
OF is usually 16 MB, which is too low for graphics intensive environments.
Hence, add a module parameter that allows changing the aperture size at driver
initialization time. When the parameter is not specified, the default is 32 MB.
