The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:
arch/mips/lantiq/Kconfig:config XRX200_PHY_FW
arch/mips/lantiq/Kconfig: bool "XRX200 PHY firmware loader"
...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.
Lets remove the couple traces of modular infrastructure use, so that
when reading the driver there is no doubt it is builtin-only.
Since module_platform_driver() uses the same init level priority as
builtin_platform_driver() the init ordering remains unchanged with
this commit.
Also note that MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE is a no-op for non-modular code.
We also delete the MODULE_LICENSE tag etc. since all that information
was (or is now) contained at the top of the file in the comments.
We don't replace module.h with init.h since the file doesn't need that.

There is a DWC2 USB core in these SoCs. To make USB work we need to first
reset and power the state machine. These are SoC specific registers and
not part of the actual USB core.

request_mem_region() returns a pointer and not an integer with an error
value. A check for "< 0" on a pointer will cause problems, replace it
with not null checks instead. This was found with sparse.

When the SoC starts up most of the devices should be deactivated by the
PMU, they should be activated when they get used by their drivers. Some
devices should not get deactivate at startup like the serial, register
them in a special way.

The PMU register are accessed in a non atomic way and they could be
accessed by different threads simultaneously, which could cause
problems this patch adds locking around the PMU registers. In
addition we now also wait till the PMU is actually deactivated.

Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.
They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.
Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

VR9 needs different firmware files for the various phy/soc revisions. Some
boards are ship with older and newer SoC revisions. To be able to boot a single
image on all versions we need to define both firmware files inside the
devicetree.

The Lantiq SoCs have a 2nd mips core called "voice mips macro core (vmmc)"
which is used to run the voice firmware. This driver allows us to register
a chunk of memory that the voice driver can later use for the 2nd core.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.

Pull devm usage cleanup from Wolfram Sang:
"Lately, I have been experimenting how to improve the devm interface to
make writing device drivers easier and less error prone while also
getting rid of its subtle issues. I think it has more potential but
still needs work and definately conistency, especiall in its usage.
The first thing I come up with is a low hanging fruit regarding
devm_ioremap_resouce(). This function already checks if the passed
resource is valid and gives an error message if not. So, we can
remove similar checks from the drivers and get rid of a bit of code
and a number of inconsistent error strings.
This series only removes the unneeded check iff devm_ioremap_resource
follows platform_get_resource directly. The previous version tried to
shuffle code if needed, too, what lead to an embarrasing bug. It
turned out to me that shuffling code for all cases found will make the
automated script too complex, so I am unsure if an automated cleanup
is the proper tool for this case. Removing the easy stuff seems
worthwhile to me, though.
Despite various architectures and platform dependencies, I managed to
compile test 45 out of 57 modified files locally using heuristics and
defconfigs."

Convert all uses of devm_request_and_ioremap() to the newly introduced
devm_ioremap_resource() which provides more consistent error handling.
devm_ioremap_resource() provides its own error messages so all explicit
error messages can be removed from the failure code paths.

CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev*
markings need to be removed.
This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata,
and __devexit from these drivers.
Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me
in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand.
