These were usually used before the conversion to devm_ functions, so that
the remove hook would be able to retrieve the pointer and do cleanups on
remove.
When the conversion happened, they should have been removed, but were
omitted.
Some drivers were copied from drivers that fit the criteria described
above. In any case, in order to prevent more drivers from being used as
example (and have spi_set_drvdata() needlessly set), this change removes it
from the IIO IMU group.

0-day recently added the include-what-you-use header checker and
it gave a warning on an adis patch. As such I decided to
run it on all the adis drivers and see if it made sensible suggestions.
Note this doesn't represent a complete list of what it suggested changing
as I filtered out a few on the basis they are standard headers used to
effectively include a bunch of other headers.
Could split this into a patch per driver if people prefer.
Note to anyone else trying this tool is that it is somewhat
of a loose cannon so you will be wanting to carefully check any
suggestions before proposing patches!
I thought about also reorganising the headers whilst here, but
that would make this patch harder to read, or lead to another rather
noisy patch across most of the files.

Some supported devices support burst read function. This provides a method
for reading a batch of data (status, temperature, gyroscopes,
accelerometers, time stamp/data counter, and CRC code), which does not
require a stall time between each 16-bit segment and only requires one
command on the DIN line to initiate. Devices supporting this mode

When using PPS mode, the input clock needs to be scaled so that we have
an IMU sample rate between (optimally) 4000 and 4250. After this, we can
use the decimation filter to lower the sampling rate in order to get what
the user wants. Optimally, the user sample rate is a multiple of both the
IMU sample rate and the input clock. Hence, calculating the sync_scale
dynamically gives us better chances of achieving a perfect/integer value
for DEC_RATE. The math here is:
1. lcm of the input clock and the desired output rate.
2. get the highest multiple of the previous result lower than the adis
max rate.
3. The last result becomes the IMU sample rate. Use that to calculate
SYNC_SCALE and DEC_RATE (to get the user output rate).

points to the same reference.
In other cases, the block covered by ... may be just too big to be covered
by the semantic patch.
However, this looks pretty good as well, as it does cover a big bulk of the
drivers that should remove the parent assignment.

All actions done in `adis16480_initial_setup()` are now done in
`__adis_initial_startup()` so, there's no need for code duplication.
Furthermore, the call to `adis16480_initial_setup()` is done before any
device configuration since the device will be reset if not already (via
rst pin). This is actually fixing a potential bug since `adis_reset()` was
being called after configuring the device which is obviously a problem.

This patch adds a dedicated self_test_reg variable. This is also a step
to let new drivers make use of `adis_initial_startup()`. Some devices
use MSG_CTRL reg to request a self_test command while others use the
GLOB_CMD register.

The adis library only allows to define a `startup_delay` which for some
devices is enough. However, other devices define different timeouts with
significantly different timings which could lead to devices to not wait
enough time or to wait a lot more than necessary (which is not
efficient). This patch introduces a new timeout struct that must be
passed into `adis_init()`. There are mainly, for now, three timeouts
used. This is also an introductory patch with the goal of refactoring
`adis_initial_startup()`. New driver's (eg: adis16480, adis16460) are
replicating code for the device initial setup. With some changes (being
this the first one) we can pass this to `adis_initial_startup()`.

The driver is defining debugfs entries by calling

This patch fixes the scales for the gyroscope, accelerometer and
barometer. The pressure scale was just wrong. For the others, the scale
factors were not taking into account that a 32bit word is being read
from the device.

This was found only after the whole thing with the inline functions, but
the compiler actually found something. The value of the `bias` (in
adis16480_get_calibbias()) should only be set if the read operation was
successful.
No actual known problem occurs as users of this function all
ultimately check the return value. Hence probably not stable material.

The ADIS library functions return zero on success, and negative values for
error. Positive values aren't returned, but we only care about the success
value (which is zero).
This change is mostly needed so that the compiler won't make any inferences
about some about values being potentially un-initialized. This only
triggers after making some functions inline, because the compiler can
better follow return paths.

It could happen that either `val` or `val2` [provided from userspace] is
negative. In that case the computed frequency could get a weird value.
Fix this by checking that neither of the 2 variables is negative, and check
that the computed result is not-zero.

Inertial sensor data collection and processing can be controlled by
configuring one of the DIOx lines as an external clock input. This
option is available for all devices supported by this driver. However,
only adis1649x devices support different modes for the external clock.
Sync mode is supported by all devices. In this mode, the output data
rate is equal with the clock frequency divided by DEC_RATE + 1. This
mode of calculation is similar with the case when the internal clock is
used.
Pulse Per Second (PPS) Mode, is only supported by adis1649x devices. In
this mode, the output data rate is equal to the product of the external
clock frequency and the scale factor in the SYNC_SCALE register.
This patch uses the "clock-names" property to enable the external clock
in one of the two supported modes: "sync" or "pps". This property is
optional. If it is not specified, the internal clock is used.
This patch also offers the option to select the DIOx line to be used as
an external clock input via the custom "adi,ext-clk-pin" property. If this
field is left empty, DIO2 is assigned as default external clock input pin.
Each DIOx pin supports only one function at a time (data ready line
selection or external clock input).

The ADIS16495 and ADIS16497 are inertial systems that include a triaxis
gyroscope and a triaxis accelerometer. The serial peripheral interface
(SPI) provide a simple interface for data collection and configuration
control. The devices are similar to ADIS16475, ADIS16480, ADIS16485 and
ADIS16488, the main differences are highlighted below:
* The temperature data scale is 0.00565 C/LSB for ADIS16475 and ADIS1648x
devices, while for ADIS1649x 0.0125 C/LSB.
* ADIS1649x devices support different gyroscope measurement ranges which
are dependent on the dash number (-1, -2, -3), see Table 24 in the
ADIS16495 datasheet. However, the ADIS16497 gyroscopes have the same
scale as ADIS16495.
* ADIS16495 devices support the acceleration maximum range of 8g, while
ADIS16497 devices go up to 40g.
* The internal clock for ADIS1649x devices is 4.25 kSPS. The sampling
frequency is calculated by applying a decimation rate which can take a
maximum value of 4250.
* ADIS1649x devices support different default filter frequencies.

When setting the filter frequency, the driver looks into the
adis16480_def_filter_freqs table for the best match. Pass this table to
the chip_info struct since future devices will need to use a different
table.

The adis1648x devices have an internal clock of 2.46 kSPS. The sampling
frequency is calculated by applying a decimation rate which can take the
maximum value of 2047.
Although all adis1648x devices are similar in this regard, devices that
will use this feature will be added in the future.

All supported devices provide internal temperature measurement from -40 C
to +85 C, with +25 C representing value 0x00.
This patch treats the temperature scale in a generic way, similar to the
accelerometer and gyroscope scales. So far, there are no temperature max
scale differences between the supported devices. However, devices that
will make use of this feature will be added in the future.

The FNCTIO_CTRL register provides configuration control for each I/O pin
(DIO1, DIO2, DIO3 and DIO4).
This patch adds the option to configure each DIOx pin as data ready
indicator with positive or negative polarity by reading the 'interrupts'
and 'interrupt-names' properties from the devicetree. The
'interrupt-names' property is optional, if it is not specified, then the
DIO1 pin is used as default data ready signal.
Although the factory default assigns DIO2 as data ready signal, in the
versions previous this patch, DIO1 pin was used. We should leave this
configuration as is, since some devices might be expecting the interrupt
on the wrong physical pin.

support added by Lars-Peter Clausen. It's been in the works for a long time
and it will be interesting to see what hardware support shows up now that
this is available.

to the sampling frequency becomes available to in kernel users of the

Smatch complains that snprintf() returns the number of characters,
not counting the NUL terminator, which *would* have been printed if
there were enough space. In other words the return value could be more
than sizeof(buf).
In this case, we are printing something like "ff.ff\n" which is at most
6 characters and a NUL so that's not an issue. I changed snprintf() to
scnprintf() to silence the warning.
But since the buffer doesn't include space for the NUL terminator, we
need to make it bigger or the "\n" will be truncated off.
