Sonic Zhang a9930fd234 Blackfin: kgdb_test: rework code to avoid -O0 usage
__kfree_rcu() in rcupdate.h bugs when parameter offset is not a constant
at compile time.  Since we build the kgdb_test module with -O0 and it
includes this header file, we hit the bug.  So drop the -O0 and mark the
one func we need for the test as noinline (so we can set a breakpoint on
it and have it be hit).

Thomas Gleixner 74b654176a Blackfin: H8606: fixup bogus ioresource init
IRQF_SHARED is not part of the IORESOURCE_IRQ bits. It's expressed by
IORESOURCE_IRQ_SHAREABLE.

IORESOURCE_IRQ_HIGHEDGE and IRQF_TRIGGER_HIGH are contradicting
values, an interrupt can hardly be configured for both level and edge
at the same time. This was introduced in commit 45138439(Blackfin
arch: flash memory map and dm9000 resources updating) of course
without any hint in the changelog what the heck this is supposed to
do.

Arun Sharma 7847777a45 atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusion
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we
ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain:

linux/atomic.h
  -> asm/atomic.h
    -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h

where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h
without a prototype.  This patches moves the code that includes
asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h.

Archs that need <asm-generic/atomic64.h> need to select
CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it
unconditionally).

Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig.

Steven Rostedt a2de3f79b1 Blackfin: irqs: do not trace arch_local_{*,irq_*} functions
Do not trace arch_local_save_flags(), arch_local_irq_*() and friends.
Although they are marked inline, gcc may still make a function out of
them and add it to the pool of functions that are traced by the function
tracer. This can cause undesirable results (kernel panic, triple faults,
etc).

Add the notrace notation to prevent them from ever being traced.

Mike Frysinger eed7b83658 Blackfin: dpmc: optimize hibernate/resume path
The current save logic used in hibernation is to do a MMR load (base +
offset) into a register, and then push that onto the stack.  Then when
restoring, pop off the stack into a register followed by a MMR store
(base + offset).  These use plenty of 32bit insns rather than 16bit,
are pretty long winded, and full of pipeline bubbles.

So, by taking advantage of MMRs that are contiguous, the multi-register
push/pop insn, and register abuse, we can shrink this code considerably.

When saving, the new logic does a lot of loads into the data and pointer
registers before executing a single multi-register push insn.  Then when
restoring, we do a single multi-register pop insn followed by a lot of
stores.  Overall, this allows us to cut the insn count by ~30%, the code
size by ~45%, and drastically reduce the register hazards that trigger
bubbles in the pipeline.

Mike Frysinger d7228e7eb9 Blackfin: dpmc: do not save/restore EVT0/EVT1/EVT4 when hibernating
EVT0 is for emulation, EVT1 is for reset, and EVT4 is the "global int
disable" region.  None of these are used by software (or even hardware),
so don't bother saving/restoring them when we hibernate since nothing
ever uses these in Linux (the only thing they would be useful for is
core-memory scratch, but that's just crazy talk).

Mike Frysinger 2f7d63f909 Blackfin: boards: clean up redundant/dead spi resources
The default for the Blackfin SPI driver is 8 bits and dma disabled,
so many of the bfin5xx_spi_chip resources are redundant.  So punt
those parts.

Further, drivers should themselves be declaring 16 bit transfers,
so for those that do, and for the ones which no longer do 16 bit
transfers, drop the bfin5xx_spi_chip resources.

Mike Frysinger d09fb60203 Blackfin: debug-mmrs: fix typos with gptimers/mdma/ppi
This code was mostly developed against a BF54x, so some BF537-specific
issues were missed.

The PPI block starts at PPI_CONTROL, not PPI_STATUS (which is the reverse
of the EPPI block).

The MDMA block starts at MDMA_NEXT_DESC_PTR, not MDMA_CONFIG.  Seems the
sim does not catch misreads here so that'll need to get fixed.

The gptimer block is mostly 32bit regs, not 16bit.  Use the gptimer struct
to figure that out rather than hardcoding it locally.

Eric W. Biederman 7b21fddd08 ns: Wire up the setns system call
32bit and 64bit on x86 are tested and working.  The rest I have looked
at closely and I can't find any problems.

setns is an easy system call to wire up.  It just takes two ints so I
don't expect any weird architecture porting problems.

While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are
very slow to get new system calls.  cris seems to be the slowest where
the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev.  avr32 is weird
in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h.  frv is
behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up.  On h8300
the last system call wired up was epoll_wait.  On m32r the last system
call wired up was fallocate.  mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system
call wired up.  The rest seem to at least have syncfs wired up which was
new in the 2.6.39.

Mike Frysinger 63ab25ebbc kgdbts: unify/generalize gdb breakpoint adjustment
The Blackfin arch, like the x86 arch, needs to adjust the PC manually
after a breakpoint is hit as normally this is handled by the remote gdb.
However, rather than starting another arch ifdef mess, create a common
GDB_ADJUSTS_BREAK_OFFSET define for any arch to opt-in via their kgdb.h.

Stephen Boyd 5ca43f6c3b lib: consolidate DEBUG_STACK_USAGE option
Most arches define CONFIG_DEBUG_STACK_USAGE exactly the same way.  Move it
to lib/Kconfig.debug so each arch doesn't have to define it.  This
obviously makes the option generic, but that's fine because the config is
already used in generic code.

It's not obvious to me that sysrq-P actually does anything caution by
keeping the most inclusive wording.

Since the bfin_write() func needs proper type information in order to
expand into the right bfin_writeX() variant, preserve the addr's type
when setting up the local __addr.  Otherwise the helpers will detect
the variant based upon sizeof(void) which is almost never right.

The BF537 SIC combines the gpio port H mask A interrupts with the
emac rx interrupt, so we need to demux this in software.

It also combines the gpio port H mask B and the emac tx interrupts,
and the watchdog and port F mask B interrupts, but since we don't
support mask B yet, just add the defines for now.

The search logic in the gpio demux walks all possible gpio blocks starting
at the specified pin.  The trouble on bf537 parts when we demux the port
F and port G mask A interrupts is that we also demux port H mask A ints.
Most of the time this isn't an issue as people don't usually use port H,
but might as well avoid it when possible.

After some cache setup reordering changesets, the blackfin_cpudata init
was left behind.  While cpu0's data was correct, cpu1's data was not.
Not that big of a deal as these are only used in the cpuinfo output, but
should still be fixed.  So move the setup of these fields to the common
cache setup function to avoid this happening again in the future.

These files had a lot of whitespace damage, mostly due to copying and
pasting original files that had damage.

The BF561 header also had a lot of unused CONFIG_DEF_xxx defines, so
punt them all.

Dominik Brodowski 2d06d8c49a [CPUFREQ] use dynamic debug instead of custom infrastructure
With dynamic debug having gained the capability to report debug messages
also during the boot process, it offers a far superior interface for
debug messages than the custom cpufreq infrastructure. As a first step,
remove the old cpufreq_debug_printk() function and replace it with a call
to the generic pr_debug() function.

How can dynamic debug be used on cpufreq? You need a kernel which has
CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG enabled.

To enabled debugging during runtime, mount debugfs and

$ echo -n 'module cpufreq +p' > /sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control

for debugging the complete "cpufreq" module. To achieve the same goal during
boot, append

	ddebug_query="module cpufreq +p"

as a boot parameter to the kernel of your choice.

objects for power management instead of sysdev classes and sysdevs.

This simplifies the code and reduces the kernel's memory footprint.
It also is necessary for removing sysdevs from the kernel entirely in
the future.

Peter Zijlstra 184748cc50 sched: Provide scheduler_ipi() callback in response to smp_send_reschedule()
For future rework of try_to_wake_up() we'd like to push part of that
function onto the CPU the task is actually going to run on.

In order to do so we need a generic callback from the existing scheduler IPI.

This patch introduces such a generic callback: scheduler_ipi() and
implements it as a NOP.

BenH notes: PowerPC might use this IPI on offline CPUs under rare conditions!

Graf Yang 943aee0c68 Blackfin: SMP: make all barriers handle cache issues
When suspending/resuming, the common task freezing code will run in
parallel and freeze processes on each core.  This is because the code
uses the non-smp version of memory barriers (as well it should).

The Blackfin smp barrier logic at the moment contains the cache sync
logic, but the non-smp barriers do not.  This is incorrect as Rafel
summarized:

> than _just_ SMP barriers.  At least that's how it is _supposed_ to be

Fix up crazy conflict in arch/powerpc/include/asm/qe_ic.h:

 - commit eead4d5c63 ("powerpc: qe_ic: Rename get_irq_desc_data and
   get_irq_desc_chip") made the helper functions use
   irq_desc_get_handler_data() instead of the legacy (and no longer
   existing) get_irq_desc_data.

 - commit d4db35e8dc ("powerpc/qe_ic: Fix another breakage from the
   irq_data conversion") used irq_desc_get_chip_data() instead.

According to Thomas, the former is the correct direct conversion, but it
does look like both should work (arch/powerpc/sysdev/qe_lib/qe_ic.c
seems to initialize both to the same thing), and the chip data in some
ways is the more logical.  Somebody should really decide on one of the
other.

This merge picks irq_desc_get_handler_data() as the straightforward pure
conversion to new names, as per Thomas.

Tejun Heo 0415b00d17 percpu: Always align percpu output section to PAGE_SIZE
Percpu allocator honors alignment request upto PAGE_SIZE and both the
percpu addresses in the percpu address space and the translated kernel
addresses should be aligned accordingly.  The calculation of the
former depends on the alignment of percpu output section in the kernel
image.

The linker script macros PERCPU_VADDR() and PERCPU() are used to
define this output section and the latter takes @align parameter.
Several architectures are using @align smaller than PAGE_SIZE breaking
percpu memory alignment.

This patch removes @align parameter from PERCPU(), renames it to
PERCPU_SECTION() and makes it always align to PAGE_SIZE.  While at it,
add PCPU_SETUP_BUG_ON() checks such that alignment problems are
reliably detected and remove percpu alignment comment recently added
in workqueue.c as the condition would trigger BUG way before reaching
there.

For um, this patch raises the alignment of percpu area.  As the area
is in .init, there shouldn't be any noticeable difference.

This problem was discovered by David Howells while debugging boot
failure on mn10300.

Akinobu Mita 61f2e7b0f4 bitops: remove minix bitops from asm/bitops.h
minix bit operations are only used by minix filesystem and useless by
other modules.  Because byte order of inode and block bitmaps is different
on each architecture like below:

m68k:
	big-endian 16bit indexed bitmaps

h8300, microblaze, s390, sparc, m68knommu:
	big-endian 32 or 64bit indexed bitmaps

m32r, mips, sh, xtensa:
	big-endian 32 or 64bit indexed bitmaps for big-endian mode
	little-endian bitmaps for little-endian mode

Others:
	little-endian bitmaps

In order to move minix bit operations from asm/bitops.h to architecture
independent code in minix filesystem, this provides two config options.

CONFIG_MINIX_FS_BIG_ENDIAN_16BIT_INDEXED is only selected by m68k.
CONFIG_MINIX_FS_NATIVE_ENDIAN is selected by the architectures which use
native byte order bitmaps (h8300, microblaze, s390, sparc, m68knommu,
m32r, mips, sh, xtensa).  The architectures which always use little-endian
bitmaps do not select these options.

Finally, we can remove minix bit operations from asm/bitops.h for all
architectures.

Even though the anomaly sheet says that the the bootrom is fixed, tests
have shown that the fix itself does not handle all cases.  So until we
get a ROM update, assume the reset code is still broken and we need to

Philippe Gerum 9169b51f8c Blackfin/ipipe: fix deferred pipeline sync for the root stage
This patch makes sure to sync the pipeline for the root stage only
from the outer interrupt level, when resuming kernel code after an
interrupt.

This fixes a bug causing EVT15 to be spuriously popped off upon nested
interrupts, which in turn would cause the preempted kernel code to
resume without supervisor privileges.

Sonic Zhang c6345ab1a3 Blackfin: SMP: work around anomaly 05000491
In order to safely work around anomaly 05000491, we have to execute IFLUSH
from L1 instruction sram.  The trouble with multi-core systems is that all
L1 sram is visible only to the active core.  So we can't just place the
functions into L1 and call it directly.  We need to setup a jump table and
place the entry point in external memory.  This will call the right func
based on the active core.

In the process, convert from the manual relocation of a small bit of code
into Core B's L1 to the more general framework we already have in place
for loading arbitrary pieces of code into L1.

We need to place icache flush funcs into L1 inst sram to work around a
hardware anomaly.  But this currently breaks SMP support as the L1 inst
sram is per-core and cannot be called directly.  So in preparation for
making that work, split the two options.

Further, split out the SMP depend so that we can allow some for SMP.

Sonic Zhang 0f66e50af5 serial: bfin_5xx: split uart RX lock from uart port lock to avoid deadlock
The RX lock is used to protect the RX buffer from concurrent access in DMA
mode between the timer and RX interrupt routines.  It is independent from
the uart lock which is used to protect the TX buffer.  It is possible for
a uart TX transfer to be started up from the RX interrupt handler if low
latency is enabled.  So we need to split the locks to avoid deadlocking in
this situation.

In PIO mode, the RX lock is not necessary because the handle_simple_irq
and handle_level_irq functions ensure driver interrupt handlers are called
once on one core.

And now that the RX path has its own lock, the TX interrupt has nothing to
do with the RX path, so disabling it at the same time.

Tejun Heo 19df0c2fef percpu: align percpu readmostly subsection to cacheline
Currently percpu readmostly subsection may share cachelines with other
percpu subsections which may result in unnecessary cacheline bounce
and performance degradation.

This patch adds @cacheline parameter to PERCPU() and PERCPU_VADDR()
linker macros, makes each arch linker scripts specify its cacheline
size and use it to align percpu subsections.

This is based on Shaohua's x86 only patch.

David Rientjes 6a108a14fa kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERT
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.

This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel.  A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).

Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.

connecting to phy at address 3.  If allowing the netdevice framework to
probe both 3 phys of the switch when registering MAC phy, phy at address
1 is checked for link active status other than phy at address 3.  If
connecting a cable to port 2 and leave port 1 open, link status in phy
2 and 3 are online, while that in phy 1 is offline.  So, the phy layer
sets wrong offline status to net device on port 3.  In this case, no data
can be transferred via ethernet port 2.

Mike Frysinger 874f6cfd3a Blackfin: move "-m elf32bfin" to general LDFLAGS
Common code now invokes the linker directly which causes build failures
when using an FDPIC toolchain.  So move the emulation setting out of the
module-specific LDFLAGS and into the common LDFLAGS.

Sonic Zhang 900de05182 Blackfin: kgdb: disable interrupt when single stepping in ADEOS
When ADEOS and kgdb are both enabled, single step in linux kernel may be
scheduled to Xenomai core after return from interrupt handlers.  This
blocks gdb continue operation after a break point is hit.  So, disable
interrupt when running gdb single step.
