Ting-Yu Lin 604bb5b99b Bug 1575964 Part 3 - Add new reftests for RTL columns, and run them with column-span enabled. r=dholbert
Delete `td {width: 25%}` and prefixed multi-column properties in
column-box-alignment-rtl.html because they are not needed.

rtl2.html is rtl.html plus `inline-size: 600px` on the column container.

rtl3.html is rtl.html plus `html { writing-mode: vertical-rl; }`.
Similarly, rtl4.html is rtl2.html plus
`html { writing-mode: vertical-rl; }`.

Note: in rtl2-ref.html and re4-ref.html, I added
`box-sizing: content-box` to `table` because `table` defaults to
`box-sizing: border-box`.

Florian Rivoal 9ead971a06 Bug 1562057 - Make empty <select> elements the same size as size-contained ones. r=dholbert
Per the css-contain specification, size contained element must be sized as if
they were empty. The code added to handle size containment shortciruits the
(inline) size calculations, and returns 0. However, an empty <select> element
is rendered as if it contained a &nbsp; and some padding gets added to it by
the UA stylesheet (forms.css). This causes reftest that check that
size-contained <select> elements and empty ones look the same.

This commit fixes this by also shortcircuiting the (inline) size calculations
and returning 0 for empty <select> elements.

Replacing the &nbsp; by a zero width space would not have been enough, since
padding would still be added. It would have been possible to add it in the
inline size calculations of size-contained <select> elements as well, but this
padding serves not purpose when the element is empty, so removing it from there
has no downside, and shortcircuitig both cases is simpler (and marginally
faster) than adding the padding in both cases.

Daniel Holbert 2933f10325 Bug 1092007 part 2: Treat a flex item's main-size as indefinite if the item and the container both have an indefinite size in that axis. r=mats
Flex containers resolve a main-axis size for each of their flex items, and they
impose this size on the flex items by stomping on the items'
ReflowInput::ComputedISize() or ComputedBSize() data. For cases when we're
stomping on the flex item's block-axis, then this can make us improperly treat
this size as definite (i.e. use it for percent resolution).

The flexbox spec does call out some cases where the item's size *is* supposed
to be considered definite[1], but if we're not in one of those cases, we need
to be careful to treat the size as indefinite even though it's been resolved.

This patch achieves this by:
 - adding a flag to FlexItem, which gets set in cases where we know we need to
   treat the size as indefinite.
 - adding a flag to ReflowInput, which gets set whenever a ComputedBSize is
imposed (if the FlexItem had its flag set).
 - adding some code to the ReflowInput percent-resolution codepath to test for
this flag and skip past percent-resolution if it's set.

This patch makes us pass all of the existing testcases in the web-platform-test
"percentage-heights-003.html". This patch also adds a few more subtests
there to exercise cases where the flex container and item have orthogonal
writing-modes.

(Note the XXXdholbert comments in the patch about items being "fully
inflexible" in some cases in order to be treated as having a definite size.
If I were to address that comment here, then we would start failing the
web-platform-test "percentage-heights-005.html", which all browsers currently
pass[2]. Therefore, I'm not adding that restriction at this point.)

Daniel Holbert d8257a522d Bug 1577072 followup: Use an even larger line-height in our "bigger-than-one" text-input line-height reftest, to accommodate bigger widgets on Debian. r=dbaron
Previous commit on this bug bumped up the test from a line-height of 1.5
to 1.8, but that's still not taller than the default widget height on Debian.
But 2.5 does seem to be sufficiently tall to produce a size difference.

Timothy Nikkel aebd0b6368 Bug 1553571. Pass the size of the display item to the StackingContextHelper constructor in nsDisplayTransform::CreateWebRenderCommands. r=jrmuizel
In FrameLayerBuilder::ChooseScale we hit this line https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/325c1a707819602feff736f129cb36055ba6d94f/layout/painting/FrameLayerBuilder.cpp#6124 and aVisibleRect is empty (because every call site except for nsDisplayMasksAndClipPaths::CreateWebRenderCommands (which doesn't need to) passes empty for the size of the bounds) and so the maxScale stays at 4, and we clamp to 4 instead of something 30-50.

The call to ChooseScale in StackingContextHelper::StackingContextHelper is the only place the size of aBounds is ever looked at. And we only ever call ChooseScale if we are passed a mBoundTransform which only nsDisplayTransform does. So this change should be quite safe.

See https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.dev.platform/70NFnet82cU

This commit introduces a new mathml.xlink.disabled option to disable support
for XLink attributes on MathML elements together with a use counter and
deprecation warning when support is enabled. For now, support is only disabled
in Nighly.

In the past, we relied on custom MathML deprecation warnings but those are
removed here. Corresponding tests for these legacy warning messages are
also removed from test_bug553917.html.

link-1.xhtml is run with XLink support enabled (since it check xlink:href)
while browser_contentAltClick.js is updated to check whether XLink has any
effect on MathML, depending on whether the option is enabled.

This patch introduces a new preference
mathml.deprecated_style_attributes.disabled in order to disable legacy support
for attributes background, color, fontfamily, fontsize, fontstyle and
fontweight. Note that xlink:href will be handled separately in bug 1575870.

* A new counter and deprecation message is introduced for these attributes.
In nsMathMLElement, the old WarnDeprecated calls are replaced with a single
call to WarnOnceAbout for the deprecate attributes. Notice that for some
reason, the color attribute used to send warning in both ParseAttribute and
  MapMathMLAttributesInto.
* sMtableStyles is removed and replaced with a simple comparison.
* sMathML3Attributes is split into two tables: one for script attributes which
will be handled in bug 1548471 and one for style attributes, handled here.
The attributes in this second table is now ignored when the feature flag is
  disabled.
* test_bug553917.html is updated so that it no longer checks the old warning
messages for these attributes. New warning messages have been verified
  manually.
* Reftests checking support for these attributes are run with the support
  enabled.
* Finally, WPT tests are run with the support disabled and a new test
is added to verify that these attributes are no longer mapped to CSS.

Frédéric Wang 675225dd5a Bug 1574749 - Remove support for nonzero unitless lengths. r=emilio
See https://github.com/mathml-refresh/mathml/issues/24
and https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.dev.platform/-yV6wb3klSA

This commit introduces a new preference option
mathml.nonzero_unitless_lengths.disabled to disable MathML nonzero unitless
values like "5" for 500%. MathML nonzero unitless are now disabled by default
but it could be easily enabled again later if we decide otherwise.

* test_bug553917.html is updated to check that these values now cause an error
message to be logged into the console rather than a deprecated warning
when nonzero unitless lengths are disabled.
Additionally, the test checking invalid double dots "2..0" is updated not
  to use unitless syntax.
* The old test 355548-3.xml checks support for mathsize names and also uses
several features that are going to be deprecated. So it is just run with
  the proper preference adjustment.
* mfrac-linethickness-2.xhtml and number-size-1.xhtml check support for
unitless lengths so they are now run with that support enabled.
* WPT tests frac-linethickness-001.html and lengths-1.html are executed with
the some MathML features disabled in order to make them pass.
We get more assertion passing for the "Legacy numbers" test of
lengths-2.html ; however there are still some issues to address
  (see bug 1574751).

See https://github.com/mathml-refresh/mathml/issues/7

This commit introduces a new preference option
mathml.mathsize_names.disabled to disable mathsize keyword values. For
now, these are only disabled in Nightly builds.

    * test_bug553917.html is updated to check that these values now cause an
error message to be logged into the console when mathsize names are used
      and the feature disabled.
    * The old test 355548-3.xml checks support for mathsize names and also uses
several features that are going to be deprecated. So it is just run with
      the proper preference adjustment.
    * mathml/relations/css-styling/mathsize-attribute-legacy-values.html passes
after this change so the test is run with the mathsize names disabled too
and the failure expectation is removed.
    * mathml/relations/css-styling/mathsize-attribute-css-keywords.html is added
to check that CSS keywords won't be supported when we switch to using the
CSS parser in the future. This test passes now when the "small" keyword
is not accepted so it is run with the mathsize names disabled too.

This commit introduces a new preference option
mathml.mfrac_linethickness_names.disabled to disable linethickness names. For

disabling of this and other MathML features will be considered later.

* test_bug553917.html is updated to check that these values now cause an error
message to be logged into the console.
* mstyle-1.xhtml is updated to use a numeric linethickness since the point of
the test is just to check that the attribute is not supported on mstyle, not
  about the actual attribute value.
* Other fractions tests relying on linethickness names are executed with the
  proper preference adjustment.
* mathml/presentation-markup/fractions/frac-linethickness-001.html is now
closer to its expectation ; however the test still fails because nonzero

Hiroyuki Ikezoe ba1ce0580a Bug 1508177 - Use expanded layout viewport height to tell whether we need to render the vertical overlay scrollbar. r=tnikkel
In the previous commit, we expanded layout viewport height but during reflow
the expanded layout viewport size hasn't reflected in
ScrollReflowInput::mContentsOverflowAreas.ScrollableOverflow(). We explicitly
need to use the expanded height to tell whether we need vertical vertical
scrollbars or not.

Note that the expanded layout viewport height should NOT be used for non-overlay
scrollbars cases since, for example, if the content width is specified by
`width: 100%`, the non-overlay vertical scrollbar narrows down the content's
used width a little bit because of the vertical scrollbar width, which in turn
the minimum scale gets bigger because the content's width became bit narrower,
thus the layout viewport size calculated with the minimum scale gets smaller,
then it results the vertical scrollbar no longer needs to be rendered, thus
the minimum scale gets back to the original value, then the vertical scroll
needs to be rendered again, thus this sequence of processes happens repreatedly.

Emilio Cobos Álvarez 141334b620 Bug 1571222 - Fuzz a test on Android to keep central green. rpending=dbaron
This annotation matches the one in
layout/reftests/css-invalid/select/reftest.list for
select-disabled-fieldset-1.html (which should really produce the same
rendering, and have the same reference).

This is a one-pixel fuzz on the fieldset border near the bottom right corner.

It's unclear which patch of this pushlog, if any, caused this:

  https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?changeset=4a49d88894d8d88f87760ac59ae35b2158fab7b2

Probably bug 1404868, which added reftests and tickled something. But it seems
this is not really that patches' fault, so to avoid speculatively backing it
out, with the chance of it not being the offender, let's mark it as fuzzy for
now.

I kept the exact same annotation as the other test, since this goes directly to
central, so it's less risky.

We could try to make it fuzzy-if(Android,9-9,1-1), maybe, though given it seems
to be affected to changes to adjacent reftests that may be unwise.

Ting-Yu Lin b14d39764b Bug 1548100 Part 2 - Fix the block-size of the column-rule by consuming available block-size. r=dbaron
After enabling column-span, ColumnSet becomes an anonymous child under
ColumnSetWrapperFrame. It doesn't need to handle border and padding,
containment, and non-auto block-size. ColumnSet's final block-size is
simply the union of ::-moz-column-content frames' rects.

However, we should extend ColumnSet's block-size to consume the
available block-size if the ColumnSetWrapper's block-size is constrained
so that the column rules are drawn to the block-end edge of the multicol
container.

These tests were marked as `fails-if(geckoview&&!webrender)`. They are
failing on geckoview because of bug 1558513: there is an offset
between the emojis in the test and reference images.

The reason that they were passing on webrender previously was because
the emojis weren't being drawn at all, so both the test and reference
images were blank. Bug 1562316 fixed the emojis being drawn with

Ting-Yu Lin d6aaf98bcd Bug 1565665 - Make ColumnSet and -moz-column-content frames always "display: block". r=dbaron
We expect ColumnSet and -moz-column-content to be block outside.

If ColumnSets' display style is inherit from ColumnSetWrapper, then a
multicol with "display: inline-block" is going to wrap ColumnSet in a

not what we want.

This change fixed [.multicol 4] and [.multicol 6] in

L. David Baron 9b308e257b Bug 1567036 - Clear BidiParagraphData::mPrevFrame when ResolveParagraphWithinBlock creates a new continuation, which invalidates its relationship to the line iterator. r=jfkthame
This patch adds an assertion that documents the invariant that this code
needs to maintain to manage the line iterator correctly. Failing to
meet that invariant would also cause additional assertions in my
work-in-progress on bug 1300293.

It then adds two assignments of mPrevFrame to null that make that
assertion hold.

The first assignment to null is tested by a number of tests already in
our test suite, including
layout/reftests/w3c-css/received/css-writing-modes/block-plaintext-004.html
and layout/reftests/bidi/unicode-bidi-plaintext.html , which would hit
the added assertion if that assignment to null were not present.

The second assignment to null was untested in our test suite (though it
showed up when doing view-source: of https://html.spec.whatwg.org/ ), so
I've added a reftest (1567036-1.html) that hits the added assertion if
that second assignment to null is not present.

Jeff Muizelaar 00f87f386d Bug 1564655. blob: Make the recording use absolute coordinates. r=nical
Currently items are painted with a context that has a transform of
-mLayerBounds.TopLeft(). This means that if TopLeft() changes the commands
will be in the wrong place because the -TopLeft() offset is baked into the
recording.

I don't think we've ever needed to support painting without this transformed
baked in so there were some infrastructure changes that needed to be made to
make this possible. Most of the problems come from the use of
gfxContext::GetClipExtents which expose the bounds of the underlying surface.
The biggest of these was fixed by the CreateClippedDrawTarget rewrite. The rest
should be handled by ensuring that the DrawTarget has bounds that are at least
as big as the union of the individual item bounds. i.e. GetClipExtents should
never intersect with bounds of the item.

This change has a couple of parts:

1. Store mLayerBounds.TopLeft() in the recording so that it will be subtracted
during replay

2. Use mLayerBounds as the Rect of the RecordingDrawTarget

3. Don't include mLayerBounds.TopLeft() in the transform during recording.

4. Adjust the dirty rect by recordingOrigin before we use it as a clip so that
it stays in the right place.

5. In PaintContainerItem the bounds parameter of PushLayer is in device space
so we need to account for the shift in the location of device space in the
DrawTargetRecording.

Andrew Osmond e501ee889d Bug 1409773 - Use WebRender instead of fallback for border raster images. r=jrmuizel
Before this patch, we would use fallback for all border images. Now for
all but vector images we will use the WebRender border images
primitives. Vector images are an exception because the fallback is
clever in that it upscales the vector image and clips to only draw the
region it requires. This avoids artifacting but to do something similar
for WebRender as it is currently defined, we would increase our CPU and
memory footprint as we would need to produce the entire vector image
upscaled, not just the parts we need. In the future we should change
WebRender to accept different image resources for each of the segments.

The sideways-rl test is fuzzy (even without webrender) because we get a 1px discrepancy
in baseline positioning for the rotated text; presumably the rotation done by sideways-rl
and that done by CSS transform end up rounding the center of rotation differently. That's
probably a bug we should fix, although offhand I'm not sure which is more correct; anyhow,
it's a separate issue from the bug here.

When WebRender is enabled, the test/reference difference is much greater because many of
the glyphs are wildly misplaced, not just shifted by 1px, so it still fails despite the
fuzzy() annotation.

Note that this is an imperfect implementation, in that it doesn't exactly
match the sizing behavior of a truly empty `<select>` element. I've filed
followup bug 1562057 on that. However, the behavior that's implemented
here *does* successfully make us ignore a `<select>`'s contents for sizing
purposes, and it's much better than what we do currently (which is pretty
broken via inheriting a partial `contain:size` implementation from our
parent class, nsBlockFrame).

Jan Henning d507b88036 Bug 1552781 - Part 2: Flexboxes/grids should be font inflation flow roots. r=dbaron
Our algorithm for dividing a page up into separate font inflation flow roots
seems mostly based on the idea that a new Block Formatting Context (BFC) should
go hand in hand with a font inflation flow root.
Flex containers so far didn't follow that rule, since they technically create a
new *Flex* Formatting Context (FFC) and possibly also because nobody thought
about font inflation when implementing nsFlexContainerFrame.

This leads to all flex containers being counted against the next higher-level
flow root, meaning that a lot of small flex containers can get inflated if their
sum total of text *collectively* exceeds the font inflation threshold.
This alone is likely undesired most of the time, but is then also aggravated by
the fact that our flexbox behaviour under font inflation is somewhat buggy (bug
1142461).

As apart from the different layout rules inside the container, a FFC behaves
very much like a BFC in that it establishes a new formatting context, flex
containers should therefore correspondingly become font inflation flow roots,
too, and therefore be considered individually for font inflation.

As far as I can tell, with this change we'll also match Blink's behaviour in
that regard.

For completeness's sake, we'll make grid containers follow the same principles,
even though hopefully grids on non mobile-friendly pages should hopefully be
somewhat rarer than flexboxes.

problem once we got a bug report that the lack of the `transform-style: inherit`
causes rendering issues.

Hiroyuki Ikezoe b14c7c928c Bug 1560237 - Don't propagate scroll-behavior from <body>. r=botond
From the CSSOM View spec[1];

The scroll-behavior property of the HTML body element is not propagated to
 the viewport.

The reason why this change fixes the test case in this commit is that we don't
have two different scrollable frames for <html> and <body> respectively if we
don't propagate scroll-behavior property from <body> to <html> so that we can
properly find the `flow root` of sticky position elements.

In other words, in the case where both of <html> and <body> have properties
that are propagated from <body> but they are different we have two scrollable
frames as a candidate of the 'flow root' for the sticky position element in
the test case, one is the scrollable frame for <html> and the other is the
scrollable frame for <body>. That means that
nsLayoutUtils::GetNearestScrollableFrame doesn't return what we want in some
places, for example we have a pretty similar issue in case of
overscroll-behavior which is bug 1561107.

Note that the test position-sticky-root-scroller-with-scroll-behavior.html is
almost copy-and-pasted from
/css/css-position/position-sticky-root-scroller.html [2] in wpt, the reason why
we put the test in /css/cssom-view is that there is a handy function to wait
for async scroll completion.

Glenn Watson e22f19cf52 Bug 1558106 - Support picture caching for multiple scroll roots. r=kvark
This patch implements the majority of the planned picture caching
improvements. It supports most of the functionality required to
(as a follow up) support OS compositor integration. It also improves
on the robustness and functionality of the previous picture caching
implementation.

There are some expected temporary performance regressions in
some cases (such as content that is constantly invalidating) and
during initial page render when many render targets must be drawn
to. These performance regressions will be resolved in follow up
commits by supporting multi-resolution tiles.

The scene is split into a number of slices, determined by the scroll
root of each primitive, which can be found by the primitive's
spatial node indices. If a scene contains too many slices, then
picture caching is disabled on the page, to avoid excessive texture
memory usage, and rendering falls back to rasterizing each frame.

The specific changes in this patch are:
    * Support tile caches for multiple scroll roots, allowing the
entire page (including fixed divs and the main UI bar) to be
cached in most cases, in addition to the main content.
    * Remove requirement to read tiles back from the framebuffer.
Instead, they are drawn into the picture cache target tiles,
and blitted to the screen. This is slightly slower than the
existing picture caching when content is constantly changing,
however this cost will disappear / become irrelevant when
the OS compositor integration work is complete.
    * Switch picture cache render targets to be nearest sampled (they
are always rendered 1:1) and support depth buffer targets.
    * Make use of the external scroll offset support to allow removal
of the primitive correlation hacks in the previous picture
caching implementation. Also allows storing of primitive
dependencies in picture space rather than world space, which
      reduces floating point inaccuracies.
    * Determine if each tile and picture cache can be considered
opaque. This is used to determine whether subpixel AA text
rendering is available on a slice, and for rendering optimizations
related to disabling blending and/or tile clears.
    * Use the clip chain instance results from the recent visibility pass
work to determine clip chain dependencies. This results in fewer
clip item dependencies in tiles, which is faster to check validity
      and reduces redundant invalidations.
    * Remove extra overhead during batching related to batch lists,
and region iteration, as they are no longer required.
    * Support PrimitiveVisibilityMask during batching. This allows a
single traversal of a picture (surface) root during batching to
efficiently construct multiple alpha batcher objects (typically
      one per invalida tile).
    * Picture caching is now handled implicitly by WR, depending on
the content of the scene. There is no requirement for client
code to manually select which stacking context should be cached.
    * Simplify how clip chain / transform dependencies are tracked by
      picture cache tiles.
    * Support pushing / popping enclosing clip chain roots without
the need for a stacking context / picture in some cases. This
simplifies the logic to split the scene into multiple slices.

The main remaining work in this area is (a) extend the code to
optionally provide each slice as an input to the OS compositor
rather than drawing the tiles in WR, and (b) support multi-resolution
tiles so that we reduce the draw call, batching and render target
overhead in cases where much of the page content is changing.

Kartikaya Gupta d202cea0f0 Bug 1501582 - Increase position-dynamic-changes to a blanket fuzz. r=gbrown
The fuzziness in the position-dynamic-changes reftests seems nondeterministic.
The fuzziness annotations in the previous patch were what I got after a few
iterations of do-a-try-push-and-update-annotations, but there are still more
failures showing up in subsequent try pushes. I visually checked all the
failures and they are all just fuzzy in different places, but intermittent.
This patch updates the fuzziness annotations on these tests to the maximum
that I encountered on any test, which is (2, 1382).

I'm keeping this as a separate patch because I think it might be valuable
in version control history to have the actual numbers seen on try which
are in the previous patch.
