This part is mainly to mark the channel as urgent-start if src related
attributes in HTMLImageElement and HTMLInputElement is set and the channel is
open due to user interaction. Unfortunately, we cannot just check the event
state just after creating channel since some loading image tasks will be queue
and execute in stable state. Thus, I store the event state in elements and
pass it to the place where create the channel.

We invalidate if FrameAnimator::UpdateState marks the composited frame as valid, but we fail to do so if FrameAnimator::RequestRefresh does so.
The other place that sets the composited frame as valid is RasterImage::Decode. This call is actually redundant because the UpdateState call will do the same.
Even though we will invalidate when the decode produces results we could still draw incorrectly if something else invalidates. In which case we would only draw the part of the image that was invalidated. But that should actually be impossible as explained in the comment.

This change moves most of the logic for the threadsafety check into
nsAutoOwningThread, rather than having part of the logic live in
nsAutoOwningThread and part of the logic live in nsDebug.h. Changing
this also forces us to clean up a couple of places that replicated the

We can have multiple setTimeouts from multiple frame update notifications in flight at the same time. If one of them reaches the finishing conditions the rest will too. So just guard calling finish with a global bool.

Supports creating a windowless browser on Linux without an X server. Most of the
changes are just adding branches to avoid calls in to GTK which calls
into X. Some of the bigger additions were adding a separate headless widget
which implements just enough to render a page. A headless look and
feel were also added since there are many calls into GTK in the platform
specific one.

If the SurfaceCache discards our frames on another thread, the runnable that notifies us of that discard could race with a decode complete notification. So we can't rely on any ordering of SetDiscarded and NotifyDecodeComplete. Thus we must derive our state purely from the SurfaceCache (and mAnimationFinished from RasterImage).
We also update the image state in RequestRefresh (the main place where we use the state that is updated).
The other main place we use the state is GetCompositedFrame, but we don't update the state there. It should be fine because the only time this might lag behind reality is if the frames are discarded, and it should be fine to continue drawing the composited frame until the discard notification arrives.
The way that we tell that an animated image has all of its frames complete in the surface cache is less than ideal.

The SurfaceCache can discard on any thread at any time. So we could be in the middle of advancing frames of a fully decoded animated image and then the frames could disappear out from under us.
Making the code deal with that kind of a situation would make the logic very complicated. So instead just look up the frames once and pass them around, that way they never change during while we are advancing the frame.

Do this to allow GetTimeoutForFrame to be called for frames that haven't been decoded yet. Propagate a Maybe result where it makes sense. The remaining callers just bail if they get no return value. Many of them can just assert that they get a return value because they already got the same frame, so the timeout has to be available.
The logic is a little tricky because we have "Forever" timeouts that were sort of treated as error cases.

Instead of copying and concatenating strings into an mDest buffer in
SamplerStackFramePrintfRAII, require callers to keep the string buffer alive
for the duration of the current scope, and store the pointer to the annotation
string in the ProfileEntry. During stackwalking, concatenate the label and the
annotation (separated by a space) and store the resulting string in the
profile buffer.

For animated images with finite animations we can finish running their animation. At which point we won't call RequestRefresh, and so we will never mark the composited frame as valid (since that is the only place we do that).
To fix this we mark the composited frame as valid when we finish decoding.
But we can do better than that, we can mark the composited frame as valid immediately when we create a new decoded since we are just drawing the final frame from now on.

The SurfaceCache can hold the first frame of a "static" decode as well as the animated frames in two seperate entries. We only care about what happens to the animated frames, so ignore OnSurfaceDiscarded for anything else.
To accomplish this we must pass the SurfaceKey to OnSurfaceDiscarded.

The pref has never been enabled, so this is quite surprising!
It is currently possible (and has been for quite a while) to discard animated images. All we need is the follow sequence of events.
1. Decode an animated image.
2. Move the animated image out of view (so it is not painted).
3. Call canvas.drawImage on the animated image (or anything else that asks for a first frame only decode). This creates a static entry in the surface cache for this first frame in addition to the animated entry. Because it is a static request we will also start a first frame decode. RasterImage::Decode calls SurfaceCache::UnlockEntries

and bam, the animated frames are now unlocked (even though the RasterImage, and it's entry in the surface cache is still locked).
4. Switch tabs, open about:memory and minimize memory to actual throw away the animated frames.
5. Switch back to the image tab, scroll the image back into view, it will not animate, it will just show the last composited frame forever.

When we allow animated images to be discarded we still want to track if the image has been fully decoded before, but it would be confusing to say that it is "done decoding" because that sounds like the image is currently decoded, even though it could be discarded at the time.

Prior to this patch whenever we wanted to pass on a modified SVGImageContext
we would pass on a new object initialized with some of the data of the object
we were given and with the new data we wanted to change. Unfortunately we
were sometimes failing to faithfully copy member data that we do not want
to modify (because of default arguments). This patch fixes that by making us
fully copy the object we were given using its copy constructor and then
explicitly override the data we want to change.

Bug 1325297. Create a variant of imgIContainer::StartDecoding that returns if the current image frame is complete. r=aosmond

During painting we do some image decoding, but we want to send the image progress notifications from that decoding async. The CSS image renderer checks if the image is complete before painting it. So if the decoding we did during painting resulted in the images becoming complete there is no way to tell that during the same paint. Thus making that decoding a waste of time.
So we add a limited way of telling if the result of a StartDecoding call has resulting in an image that is ready to paint so we can get that result during the same paint.
I would have prefered to change StartDecoding to just return a bool but that would have made the bool an outparam, which would make every StartDecoding call uglier with extra code. Changing it to a notxpcom function would have fixed that, but I'm not sure if that is safe.

The Decode call may result in synchronously creating the surface, but we only check again if the surface is there for FLAG_SYNC_DECODE, not FLAG_SYNC_DECODE_IF_FAST.
All of the decoding we do during painting is of the type FLAG_SYNC_DECODE_IF_FAST, which means it would be useless to do that decoding synchronously during painting because the paint doesn't benefit from the result of that decoding.
Looking at the history of this code it looks like https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/435df926eb10 (part 6 of bug 1119774) was where this bug was introduced. Before that changeset we always did another LookupFrameInternal call after the Decode (called WantDecodedFrames back then). But that changeset changed it to only be done for standard sync decodes, not "sync decode if fast".

nsImageLoadingContent::Notify is where all image notifications for things like <img> elements go through. The vast majority being implemented in C++. Any image observers implemented in JS must go through ScriptedNotificationObserver.
We only use ScriptedNotificationObserver in tests. The addon repository only has six hits, and four of them seem to be different versions of the same addon. And they don't seem to be among the more popular addons.
The original location of the assert only caught some images anyway. Things like CSS background images don't go through nsImageLoadingContent. ProgressTracker is the origin of all image notifications.

Bug 1321946. Adjust asserts about the progress of an image to deal with how multipart images are handled. r=aosmond

For multipart images we create a MultipartImage which contains each part. Each part in turn is a VectorImage or RasterImage. The MultipartImage and each part image all have their own ProgressTracker. The ProgressTracker for the MultipartImage observes the notifications of each part image via the IProgressObserver interface. This interfaces notably has no way to notify about an image error. So when a part image has an error it never gets propagated to the MultipartImage's ProgressTracker. This confuses our assertions about consistency of progress notifications. In this case we expect that when we get the load complete notification then we either have the size of the image or we encountered an error. So if the first part of a multipart image is broken and we are unable to get a size from it we will trigger this assertion.
There are two ways to fix this. One would be to propagate errors to the MultipartImage's ProgressTracker. This would put the ProgressTracker for the MultipartImage permanently into error state and prevent showing the images from the remaining parts if one part image had an error.
So in this patch I create a way to tell a ProgressTracker that is is for a multipart image, and use that to relax the assertions. As far as I can tell our code should be able to handle "ignoring" an error in a bad part image.
Addtionaly there is a way that an error flag can get propagated to the MultipartImage's tracker: in MultipartImage::FinishTransition we get the progress directly from the part image and notify for it. This seems like an oversight as the comment at

indicates that we don't want one bad part to prevent later parts from displaying. So we add the error flag to the ones we filter out when we propagate progress.

FrameAnimator::GetCompositedFrame is only ever called with the current animation frame index. This is good because it can return invalid results if it is called for some other frame number.
