Jan Horak 8d50dc0b07 Bug 1297686 - List GIO handlers in the protocol handler list, in the handlers dialog, and in preferences. r=paolo
The nsGIOService now provides GetAppsForURIScheme which is used to append handlers
for specific scheme in handler list dialog (toolkit/mozapps/handling/content/dialog.js)
and also in Applications section in preferences. In case the default system handler
or user added handler has same name as one of the GIO handlers, the GIO handler
is not appended. The check for not adding handler is by using handler name.

The nsGIOMimeApp class now implements nsIHandlerApp interface. Instead overloaded
GetName methods (nsCString and nsString) we now use nsString variant everywhere.
This require change of nsGNOMERegistry::GetFromType which if fact leads to code
simplification.

The implementation of nsGNOMEShellService::SetDefaultBrowser has been changed
because implementation of CreateAppFromCommand has changed.
The CreateAppFromCommand no longer tries to find the application,
for that FindAppFromCommand has been introduced.

Blake Kaplan 47a7f17127 Bug 1389836 - Push extensions from MIME info objects to the child. r=bz
It would be really nice to push all of this back up to the parent or to at
least make it asynchronous. I think it should be possible since we control
when we send the DOM events, but for the moment this should work.

With this patch, I extend ProxyMIMEInfo and HandlerInfo with information about
the available extensions for a given MIME type. On Linux, at least, we read
the system (in my case GNOME) registry in the child and handlers.json in the
parent finally merging them again in the child (in
ContentHandlerService::FillHandlerInfo). Even though I was unable to get my
mochitest to work, it did work well enough that I could verify that this patch
was getting all of the proper extensions to the nsContentAreaDragDrop.cpp
code.

J.C. Jones 0e002bccbd Bug 1409259 - Add a console warning for soon-to-be-distrusted roots r=keeler,ttaubert
This patch adds a new diagnostic status flag to nsIWebProgressListener,
STATE_CERT_DISTRUST_IMMINENT, which indicates that the certificate chain is
going to change validity due to an upcoming distrust event. The first of
these events is this bug, affecting various roots from Symantec.

The STATE_CERT_DISTRUST_IMMINENT flag is set by nsNSSCallbacks and passed,
via nsSecureBrowserUIImpl, to browser.js where it is used to alert the console.

Adding this sort of diagnostic printing to be accessible to browser.js is a
long-desired goal, as future functionality can start doing more decision-making
there. We may, for example, also want to degrade the lock icon, which will be
straightforward with this flag.

This commit does not implement the IsCertificateDistrustImminent method. That is
follow-on work.

Kris Maglione 257d9118dc Bug 1409249: Require singleton constructors to return explicit already_AddRefed. r=froydnj
Right now, NS_GENERIC_FACTORY_SINGLETON_CONSTRUCTOR expects singleton
constructors to return already-addrefed raw pointers, and while it accepts
constructors that return already_AddRefed, most existing don't do so.

Meanwhile, the convention elsewhere is that a raw pointer return value is
owned by the callee, and that the caller needs to addref it if it wants to
keep its own reference to it.

The difference in convention makes it easy to leak (I've definitely caused
more than one shutdown leak this way), so it would be better if we required
the singleton getters to return an explicit already_AddRefed, which would
behave the same for all callers.

This also cleans up several singleton constructors that left a dangling
pointer to their singletons when their initialization methods failed, when
they released their references without clearing their global raw pointers.

Nicholas Nethercote f582d96b98 Bug 1390428 (part 9) - Remove nsXPIDLCString. r=erahm.
This is straightforward, with only two notable things.

- `#include "nsXPIDLString.h" is replaced with `#include "nsString.h"`
throughout, because all nsXPIDLString.h did was include nsString.h. The
exception is for files which already include nsString.h, in which case the
patch just removes the nsXPIDLString.h inclusion.

- The patch removes the |xpidl_string| gtest, but improves the |voided| test to
cover some of its ground, e.g. testing Adopt(nullptr).

Nicholas Nethercote 025461bde7 Bug 1390428 (part 1) - Remove many nsXPIDLCString local variables. r=erahm.
These are all easy cases where an nsXPIDLCString local variable is set via
getter_Copies() and then is only used in ways that nsCStrings can also be used
(i.e. no null checks or implicit conversions to |char*|).

In every case the patch trivially replaces the nsXPIDLCString with an
nsCString. (Also, there are a couple of unused nsXPIDLCString variables that
the patch simply removes.)

Nicholas Nethercote f941156987 Bug 1386600 - Change nsIStringBundle methods to return |AString| instead of |wstring|. r=emk,sr=dbaron.
This removes about 2/3 of the occurrences of nsXPIDLString in the tree. The
places where nsXPIDLStrings are null-checked are replaced with |rv| checks.

The patch also removes a couple of unused declarations from
nsIStringBundle.idl.

Note that nsStringBundle::GetStringFromNameHelper() was merged into
GetStringFromName(), because they both would have had the same signature.

Masatoshi Kimura 8ed4a80a4e Bug 1322874 - Get rid of nsIURI.originCharset. r=valentin.gosu
nsIURI.originCharset had two use cases:
 1) Dealing with the spec-incompliant feature of escapes in the hash
    (reference) part of the URL.
 2) For UI display of non-UTF-8 URLs.

For hash part handling, we use the document charset instead. For pretty
display of query strings on legacy-encoded pages, we no longer care to them
(see bug 817374 comment 18).

Also, the URL Standard has no concept of "origin charset". This patch
removes nsIURI.originCharset for reducing complexity and spec compliance.

Nicholas Nethercote c86dc10505 Bug 1380227 - Avoid many UTF16toUTF8 and UTF8toUTF16 conversions in nsStringBundle. r=emk.
Most of the names passed to nsIStringBundle::{Get,Format}StringFromUTF8Name
have one of the two following forms:

- a 16-bit C string literal, which is then converted to an 8-bit string in
  order for the lookup to occur;

- an 8-bit C string literal converted to a 16-bit string, which is then
converted back to an 8-bit string in order for the lookup to occur.

This patch introduces and uses alternative methods that can take an 8-bit C
string literal, which requires changing some signatures in other methods and
functions. It replaces all C++ uses of the old methods.

The patch also changes the existing {Get,Format}StringFromName() methods so
they take an AUTF8String argument for the name instead of a wstring, because
that's nicer for JS code.

Even though there is a method for C++ code and a different one for JS code,
|binaryname| is used so that the existing method names can be used for the
common case in both languages.

The change reduces the number of NS_ConvertUTF8toUTF16 and
NS_ConvertUTF16toUTF8 conversions while running Speedometer v2 from ~270,000 to
~160,000. (Most of these conversions involved the string
"deprecatedReferrerDirective" in nsCSPParser.cpp.)

Blake Kaplan 4d5da90a53 Bug 1381934 - Try to deal better with closed windows. r=mconley
It's hard to know exactly what's going on in this testcase because we nest a
bunch of calls. I was unable to observe the crash myself, but it appears that
part of it (at least) has to do with the test timing out and causing the
opened page to get closed by the harness. I believe this causes us to fail to
getInterface to the docShell for the now-closed window and we crash.

There isn't much we can do in this situation so, let's try being defensive and
watch crash-stats.

It's silly to use prmem.h within Firefox code given that in our configuration

mix PR_Malloc() with free(), or malloc() with PR_Free().)

This patch removes all uses, except for the places where we need to use
PR_Free() to free something allocated by another NSPR function; in those cases
I've added a comment explaining which function did the allocation.

Bill McCloskey 691628a34e Bug 1364570 - Dispatch link prefetch events asynchronously to avoid DocGroup mismatches (r=bz)
When we send out a prefetch request, we act as if the load came
from one of the possibly many documents containing <link> element
for the given URL. The docgroup assigned to this request is
derived from this document. Later, when the load finishes, the
OnStopRequest code runs in a runnable labeled with this
docgroup. OnStopRequest dispatches a load event to *all* the link
elements, including some that might be in different docgroups
from the OnStopRequest runnable. This generates an assertion.

To fix this, I decided to dispatch the load events
asynchronously. I'm hoping the extra round trip through the event
loop shouldn't hurt us too much since I doubt anyone actually
listens for these events.

Paolo Amadini 2723e3cda4 Bug 1355585 - Streamline the format of "handlers.json", align the implementation, and reorganize tests. r=mak
This patch significantly improves the test coverage for both the JSON and RDF back-ends. There is a clearer separation between tests using predefined data and tests for the injection of default handlers. The predefined data includes more significant property combinations, and the JSON is now formatted. Helper functions are renamed for clarity.

Functions like "exists" that have different paths for MIME types and protocols are now tested with both, while behaviors that have a single path are now only tested with MIME types for efficiency.

The file format is redesigned to be more compact, and all the data is normalized when saving instead of when loading. Duplicates are now handled correctly when saving.

Ehsan Akhgari 067b18b9f3 Bug 1316683 - Part 5: Avoid going into SpiderMonkey for retrieving origin attributes; r=baku
Our caller is C++ code, and the implementations are all also written in C++,
so there is no reason to go through SpiderMonkey here. This patch also makes
nsILoadContext builtinclass to ensure that the implementation is always native.

Paolo Amadini 9c01cb1c62 Bug 1350026 - Fix recognition of the handler type in the JSON handler service back-end, and add detailed testing of the file format. r=mak
On Android, nsIHandlerInfo instances representing protocols are also instances of nsIMIMEInfo. This causes the RDF back-end of the handler service to store them in the same cateory as MIME types. This fix corrects the situation for the JSON back-end, while leaving the RDF back-end unchanged for backwards compatibility.

Detailed testing is added using different RDF reference files for Desktop and Android.

Paolo Amadini bc9668cdff Bug 1346716 - Remove the entry for "mimeTypes.rdf" in the directory service. r=mak
This improves performance because we won't try to fix the permissions of the file every time the nsIHandlerService implementation wants to open it, and makes it easier to access the file path from xpcshell tests.

Zibi Braniecki 3d91da8726 Bug 1347314 - Migrate calls to ChromeRegistry::GetSelectedLocale to use LocaleService::GetAppLocale. r=jfkthame,Pike
In cases, where the caller is looking for the locale to be used for JS Intl API,
we can now replace it with `undefined` which causes JS Intl API to use the default
locale which since bug 1346674 is resolved to the app locale.

This allows us to remove a lot of calls for the app locale.

The remaining ones are split between `AsBCP47` and `AsLangTag`.
Here, the `AsLangTag` is used, as described in the API docs, for cases where
the language string is used for localization purposes, such as language negotaition
matching to our language resources etc.
`AsBCP47` is used when the returned value is handed over to ICU API.
