Joshua Cranmer 73512f7996 Bug 1035599: Merge the mozilla-central and comm-central objdir, r=gps 
This change merges mozilla-central and comm-central into having a single
topobjdir file but retaining two topsrcdirs (and two build systems). This state
is hopefully only the first part of a series of changes that eliminate the
comm-central build system partial clone completely.

Ralph Giles feb9fd6e8a Bug 941296 - Check for CoreMedia headers in configure. r=ted 
We build against the CoreMedia framework headers which are
only available on 10.7 and later, although we run on 10.6.

Check that this framework is available an configure time and
print a relevant error message in case someone passes
--with-macos-sdk=/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk.

Ralph Giles 73b7a51a2a Bug 941296 - Enable FMP4 when APPLEMEDIA is enabled. r=cpearce,ted 
This requires moving the MOZ_APPLEMEDIA define. I put it in
alphabetical order with the other platform decoder checks.

Also removes the --disable-apple-media configure switch.
We don't have proper testing for these options, so it's
better not to offer the choice.

Ehsan Akhgari fde35aa8b8 Bug 1021378 - Add support for clang-cl to the build system; r=glandium 
This patch does two things: 1. Treat clang on Windows explicitly as MSVC. There
are some places in our build system where we try to detect clang by looking at
the output of $(CC) -v, and that will cause us to believe that we are using
clang, which is not helpful.  This patch defines the CLANG_CL variable when it
detects clang being used on Windows.  It also masquarades clang-cl as MSVC
2012, which is how the compiler introduces itself through the _MSC_VER
predefined variable.

2. Disable a bunch of things which currently are not supported on clang-cl.  As
we proceed with this port, hopefully we'll be able to remove everything in this
list, but this will get us closer to be able to build with clang-cl.

With this patch and clang-cl trunk, we can get past the configure stage of the
build.

Emilio Pozuelo Monfort 3062b0f182 Bug 624422- Add libmozgtk libraries so that libxul can use GTK+ 2 and 3. r=glandium 
This is necessary for plugins when building libxul for GTK+ 3
because libxul will link against GTK+ 3 and some plugins link
against GTK+ 2, but both GTK+ libraries can't be loaded in the
same process. With this change, we have an indirection between
libxul and libgtk, named libmozgtk. plugin-container will
be modified to load libmozgtk2 in order to only have GTK+ 2
in its address space, thus enabling various plugins (e.g. flash)
on GTK+ 3 firefox.

Previously, mozinfo.json was only generated as configure time.
Unfortunately, the build dependencies did not capture this relationship.
So, changes to mozinfo.py (or any supporting Python file) would not
trigger mozinfo regeneration, possibly leading to clobbers.

This patch moves mozinfo.json generation from the body of config.status
to the build backend. We had to add an AC_SUBST so the build config
knows when to build mozinfo.json. This was needed because js/src's build
system doesn't define all the required variables to create mozinfo.json.
Once js/src's configure/config.status is merged into the main build
config tree, this workaround can be removed.

While we were here, mozinfo.json was made to have consistent output and
its changes are now viewable with config.status --diff.

Mike Hommey 69e70086e0 Bug 969164 - Traverse js/src moz.builds from top-level configure. r=gps 
Before, we would run configure in both top-level and js/src, and both
configures would traverse their own set of moz.builds, without actual
knowledge about the other. With this change, both configures still run,
but only top-level traverses moz.build files, and uses js/src's
config.status when traversing its moz.build files. This allows a better
sharing of information between both build systems and the removal of many
hacks.

This also moves running libffi and icu configure to top-level.

Standalone js builds still have their own configure doing moz.build traversal,
as before.

Mike Hommey 62cee4b707 Bug 944935 - Cleanup some useless AC_CHECK_FUNCS tests in configure.in. r=gps 
- HAVE_RANDOM is not checked at all.
- HAVE_STRERROR is not checked in code built using the defines from the main
  configure.
- HAVE_LCHOWN is only checked in nsinstall.c, which means the test is also wrong
  since it's checking for the target instead of the host. Also, lchown is only
  used of the -o and -g options of nsinstall, which, as far as I know, we don't
  use (and if we were, that would fail with nsinstall.py, which explicitly rejects
  them).
- HAVE_FCHMOD is only checked in nsinstall.c, so same as above about the
  correctness of the check. If it's not available, nsinstall.c falls back to
  chmod, which is fine enough for our use.
- HAVE_SNPRINTF is not checked.
- HAVE_MEMMOVE is checked in parser/expat/lib/xmlparse.c, but it's also
  unconditionally defined in expat_config.h which is included from that file.
- HAVE_SETBUF is checked in a couple files, but setbuf is C89 and C99, I think
  it's safe to assume all compilers we support are C89 and C99. Interestingly,
  windows does have it, but since we skip this check on windows, we don't use it.
- HAVE_ISATTY, same as HAVE_SETBUF, except it's POSIX instead of C89/C99.
- HAVE_FLOCKFILE is not checked at all.
- HAVE_STRTOK_R is not checked.
- HAVE_FT_SELECT_SIZE is not checked.
- HAVE_DLADDR is not checked under js/src.
- HAVE_GETPAGESIZE is not checked under js/src (it is in libffi, but ffi uses
  its own configure)
- HAVE_LSTAT64, HAVE_STAT64, HAVE_STATVFS, HAVE_STATVFS64, HAVE_TRUNCATE64 are
  not checked under js/src.
- HAVE_SBRK is not checked under js/src. Moreover,
  js/src/assembler/wtf/Platform.h defines it depending on the platform.
- HAVE_SNPRINTF is not checked under js/src.
- HAVE_HYPOT is not checked under js/src.
- HAVE__UNWIND_BACKTRACE is not checked under js/src.

This updates our in-tree copy of libvpx to the
v1.3.0 git tag (2e88f2f2ec777259bda1714e72f1ecd2519bceb5)
libvpx 1.3.0 adds support for VP9. VP9 support is built
but not yet exposed with this commit.

Our update.sh script is replaced with update.py that can
update the build system to a given git commit.
 - checkout out upstream git
 - create platform dependend config files
 - add/remove changed libvpx files
 - update moz.build
 - warn about new build categories in libvpx

(JS's, especially, in this context).  It's also completely unlike what we do
