1) improvements to the css in the autocomplete dialog (and remove use of gravatars)

2) make message body darker, so it's more legible
3) still struggle with left sidebar if the results pane is too short, but this should be cleaner
4) fix the gSelectionSummaryString booboo i left in templateUtils.js, by adding it its own properties file.

1) css tweaks:
...
- fixed the left sidebar, finally
- reintroduced the original top/bottom borders around the facet values
- tweaked the hover state of messages
- stopped tags like "To Do" from being word-wrapped
2) made it so we show "top 10", just like letterman
3) prepped the terrain for sort by date. I had it working on full-text searches (I think),
but i couldn't figure out how to get it to work regardless of the query. need asuth's help.
In the meantime the sort picker is display:none.

1) deal with error when people hit return before the autocomplete had

returned anything.
2) fix the persistence of the quicksearch widget across tab switches,
mostly by removing a lot of superstitious code of mine.
3) cheaply "reuse" existing tab when doing just full-text searches in
a tab that shows faceted stuff.
