iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() requires that the buffer
is 8 byte alignment to ensure an inserted timestamp is naturally aligned.
This requirement was not met here when burst mode is in use beause
of a leading u16. Use the new iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned()
function that has more relaxed requirements.
It is somewhat complex to access that actual data length, but a
safe bound can be found by using scan_bytes - sizeof(timestamp) so that
is used in this path.
More efficient approaches exist, but this ensure correctness at the
cost of using a bounce buffer.

Fix a set of closely related issues.
1. When using fifo_values() there was not enough space for the timestamp to
be inserted by iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp()
2. fifo_values() did not meet the alignment requirement of
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp()
3. hw_values did not meet the alignment requirement either.
1 and 2 fixed by using new iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() which has
no alignment or space padding requirements.
3 fixed by introducing a structure that makes the space and alignment
requirements explicit.

Use the newly introduce iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() function
to ensure a bounce buffer is used to provide the required alignment and
space padding needed by the IIO core which requires the timestamp
is naturally aligned. There will be a performance cost to this change
but it will ensure the driver works on platforms that do not support
unaligned 8 byte assignments, and with consumer drivers that may
assume natural alignment of the timestamp.

iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp()

Whilst it is almost always possible to arrange for scan data to be
read directly into a buffer that is suitable for passing to
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp(), there are a few places where
leading data needs to be skipped over.
For these cases introduce a function that will allocate an appropriate
sized and aligned bounce buffer (if not already allocated) and copy
the unaligned data into that before calling
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() on the bounce buffer.
We tie the lifespace of this buffer to that of the iio_dev.dev
which should ensure no memory leaks occur.

Some devices can't mask/unmask the data ready pin and in those cases
each driver was just calling '{dis}enable_irq()' to control the trigger
state. This change, moves that handling into the library by introducing
a new boolean in the data structure that tells the library that the
device cannot unmask the pin.
On top of controlling the trigger state, we can also use this flag to
automatically request the IRQ with 'IRQF_NO_AUTOEN' in case it is set.
So far, all users of the library want to start operation with IRQs/DRDY
pin disabled so it should be fairly safe to do this inside the library.

With commit ecb010d441 ("iio: imu: adis: Refactor adis_initial_startup")
we are doing a HW or SW reset to the device which means that we'll get
the default state of the data ready pin (which is enabled). Hence there's
no point in disabling the IRQ in the init function. Moreover, this
function is intended to initialize internal data structures and not
really do anything on the device.
As a result of this, some devices were left with the data ready pin enabled
after probe which was not the desired behavior. Thus, we move the call to
'adis_enable_irq()' to the initial startup function where it makes more
sense for it to be.
Note that for devices that cannot mask/unmask the pin, it makes no sense
to call the function at this point since the IRQ should not have been
yet requested. This will be improved in a follow up change.

The only call in the remove hook is the iio_map_array_unregister() call.
Since we have a devm_iio_map_array_register() function now, we can use that
and remove the remove hook entirely.
The IIO device was registered with the devm_iio_device_register() prior to
this change.
Also, the platform_set_drvdata() can be removed now, since it was used only
in the remove hook.

This change introduces a device-managed variant to the
iio_map_array_register() function. It's a simple implementation of calling
iio_map_array_register() and registering a callback to
iio_map_array_unregister() with the devm_add_action_or_reset().
The function uses an explicit 'dev' parameter to bind the unwinding to. It
could have been implemented to implicitly use the parent of the IIO device,
however it shouldn't be too expensive to callers to just specify to which
device object to bind this unwind call.
It would make the API a bit more flexible.

The driver tries to initialize all possible regulators from the DT, then
match the external regulators with each channel and then release all unused
regulators.
We can change the logic a bit to initialize regulators only when at least
one channel needs them.
This change creates a mx25_gcq_ext_regulator_setup() function that is
called only for the external regulators. If there's already a reference to
an external regulator, the function will just exit early with no error.
This way, the driver doesn't need to keep any track of these regulators
during init.

External triggers do not necessarily need the EOC interrupt to be
populated to work properly. The end of conversion status may either come
from an interrupt or from a sufficient enough extra delay. IRQs are not
mandatory so move the triggered buffer setup out of the IRQ condition
and add the logic to wait enough time for all the requested conversions
to be in the device's FIFO.

There is no reason to limit this driver to its internal trigger. The
only difference being, when using an external trigger, the sample
conversion must be manually started.

So far the End-Of-Conversion interrupt was only used in conjunction with
the internal trigger to process the data. Let's extend the use of this
interrupt handler to support regular single-shot conversions as well.
Doing so requires writing our own hard IRQ handler. This handler has to
check if buffers are enabled or not:
*** Buffers disabled condition ***
This means the user requested a single conversion and the sample is
ready to be retrieved.
-> This implies adding the relevant completion boilerplate.
*** Buffers enabled condition ***
Triggers are used. So far there is only support for the internal
trigger but this trigger might soon be attached to another device as
well so it is the core duty to decide which handler to call in order
to process the data. The core will decide to either:
* Call the internal trigger handler which will extract the data that
is already present in the ADC FIFOs
or
* Call the trigger handler of another driver when using this trigger
with another device, even though this call will be slightly delayed
by the fact that the max1027 IRQ is a data-ready interrupt rather
than a real trigger:
-> The new handler will manually inform the core about the trigger
having transitioned by directly calling iio_trigger_poll() (which
iio_trigger_generic_data_rdy_poll() initially did).
In order for the handler to be "source" agnostic, we also need to change
the private pointer and provide the IIO device instead of the trigger
object.

For now this helper only waits for the maximum duration of a single
conversion.
In practice, a "temperature measurement" will take twice this
time because it will also carry another analog conversion but as here we
will only care about the temperature conversion which happens first, we
can still only wait for a single sample and get the right data.
This helper will soon be improved to properly handle the end of
conversion interrupt as well as a higher number of samples.

When hardware buffers are enabled (the cnvst pin being the trigger), one
should not mess with the device state by requesting a single channel
read.
There is already a iio_buffer_enabled() check in *_read_single_value()
to merely prevent this situation but the check is inconsistent since
buffers can be enabled after the if clause anyway. Instead, use the core
mutex by calling iio_device_claim/release_direct_mode().

We don't expect the (hardware) cnvst trigger to be enabled at boot time,
this is a user choice made in sysfs and there is a dedicated callback to
enable/disable this trigger. Hence, we can just ensure it is disabled in
the probe at initialization time and then assume that whenever a
->read_raw() call happens, the trigger has been disabled and conversions
will start on register write.

Provide a list of ->available_scan_masks which match the device's
capabilities. Basically, these devices are able to scan from 0 to N, N
being the highest voltage channel requested by the user. The temperature
can be included or not, but cannot be retrieved alone.
The consequence is, instead of reading and pushing to the IIO buffers
all channels each time, the "minimum" number of channels will be scanned
and pushed based on the ->active_scan_mask.
For example, if the user wants channels 1, 4 and 5, all channels from
0 to 5 will be scanned and pushed to the IIO buffers. The core will then
filter out the unneeded samples based on the ->active_scan_mask that has
been selected and only channels 1, 4 and 5 will be available to the user
in the shared buffer.
Provide a comment in the code explaining this logic.

This adds ways for the SoC to wake from accelerometer wake events.
In the suspend function we skip disabling the sensor if wakeup-source
and events are activated.
If buffered reads are enabled they will be deactivated before suspend.
As the onboard buffer is only holding up to 32 12-bit X/Y/Z data
triplets.

The ADC controller has a trimming register for fine-tune the reference
voltage. The trimming value comes from the OTP register which will be
written during chip production. This patch will read this OTP value and
configure it to the ADC register when the ADC controller probes and using
dts property "aspeed,trim-data-valid" to determine whether to execute this
flow.

In ast2600, ADC integrate dividing circuit at last input channel for
battery sensing. This patch use the dts property "battery-sensing" to
enable this feature makes the last channel of each adc can tolerance
higher voltage than reference voltage. The offset interface of ch7 will
be separated when enabling the battery sensing mode.

measurement. This is the built-in function through input half of the

Add the function to set the sampling rate and keep the sampling period
for a driver used to wait the fresh value.
In addition, since the ADC clock is required when initializing the ADC
device, move clk_prepare_enable ahead of the initialization phase.

The ADC clock formula is
ast2400/2500:
ADC clock period = PCLK * 2 * (ADC0C[31:17] + 1) * (ADC0C[9:0] + 1)
ast2600:
ADC clock period = PCLK * 2 * (ADC0C[15:0] + 1)
They all have one fixed divided 2 and the legacy driver didn't handle it.
This patch register the fixed factory clock device as the parent of ADC
clock scaler to fix this issue.

This patch refactors the model data structure to distinguish the
function form different versions of aspeed ADC.
- Rename the vref_voltage to vref_fixed_mv and add vref_mv driver data
When driver probe will check vref_fixed_mv value and store it to vref_mv
which isn't const value.
- Add num_channels
Make num_channles of iio device can be changed by different model_data
- Add need_prescaler flag and scaler_bit_width
The need_prescaler flag is used to tell the driver the clock divider needs
another Prescaler and the scaler_bit_width to set the clock divider
bitfield width.

Set iio_dev_opaque->groups to NULL when it's freed to fix this double free.
Not this is a local work around for a more general mess around life time
management that will get cleaned up and should make this handling
unnecesarry.

On success i2c_master_send() returns the number of bytes written. The
call from iio_write_channel_info(), however, expects the return value to
be zero on success.
This bug causes incorrect consumption of the sysfs buffer in
iio_write_channel_info(). When writing more than two characters to
out_voltage0_raw, the ad5446 write handler is called multiple times
causing unexpected behavior.

This change converts the probe of the AD5064 driver to use only
device-managed functions.
The regulator_bulk_disable() is passed on a devm_add_action_or_reset() hook
and the devm_iio_device_register() can be used to register the IIO device.
The driver has both I2C and SPI hooks inside, so all these can be removed.

Currently autoloading for SPI devices does not use the DT ID table, it uses
SPI modalises. Supporting OF modalises is going to be difficult if not
impractical, an attempt was made but has been reverted, so ensure that
module autoloading works for this driver by adding SPI IDs for parts that
only have a compatible listed.

Not all devices supported by this driver support being put to sleep

With commit 39c024b51b
("iio: adis16475: improve sync scale mode handling"), two deadlocks were
introduced:
1) The call to 'adis_write_reg_16()' was not changed to it's unlocked
version.
2) The lock was not being released on the success path of the function.
This change fixes both these issues.

Leaving IRQ on level instead of falling might trigger a sample read
when the IRQ is enabled, as the SDO line is already low. Not sure
if SDO line will always immediately go high in ad_sd_buffer_postenable
before the IRQ is enabled.
Also the datasheet seem to explicitly say the falling edge of the SDO
should be used as an interrupt:

used as an interrupt to a processor"

The macro MAX1X29_CHANNELS() already calls MAX1X27_CHANNELS().
Calling MAX1X27_CHANNELS() before MAX1X29_CHANNELS() in the definition
of MAX1X31_CHANNELS() declares the first 8 channels twice. So drop this

A successful 'regulator_enable()' call should be balanced by a
corresponding 'regulator_disable()' call in the error handling path of the
probe, as already done in the remove function.
Update the error handling path accordingly.

Currently when a timeout occurs in rzg2l_adc_hw_init the error -EBUSY is
assigned to ret but the error code is used as the function is hard-coded
to return 0. The variable ret is 0 before entering the while-loop hence
the fix is just to return ret at the end of the function to return the
success 0 or -EBUSY return code.

Provide a way for continuous data capture by setting up buffer support. The
data ready signal exposed at the DRDY pin of the ADXL355 is exploited as
a hardware interrupt which triggers to fill the buffer.

Add helper for the COR register. This helper allows to modify the COR
register, removes duplicate code and improves readability.
The COR offset is now part of the register layout. This will allow
different platform with a different offset to use the same helper.

Some platforms have separated the end-of-conversion information from the
usual ISR/IMR/IER/IDR registers, into EOC_ISR/EOC_IMR/EOC_IER/EOC_IDR.
To cope with both variants, helpers are being added, that will make
code more clear and more easy to read.

Convert the driver to platform specific structures. This means:
- create a register layout struct that will hold offsets for registers
- create a platform struct that will hold platform information (number of
channels, indexes for different channels and pointer to layout struct)
- convert specific macros that are platform dependent into platform variables
This step is in fact a no-op, but allows the driver to be more flexible
and for future enhancement including adding new platforms that are partly
compatible with the current driver and differ slightly in register layout
or capabilities for example.

If there are no channels defined in the devicetree, there's no point in
probing the device. We were actually requesting a zero sized 'kmalloc'
array but since we were not touching the ZERO_SIZE_PTR afterwards,
nothing bad was actually happening. Hence this is not really a fix but
rather an improvement.

The bindings file for this driver is defining the property as 'reg' but
the driver was reading it with the 'num' name. The bindings actually had
the 'num' property when added in
commit ea52c21268 ("dt-bindings: iio: dac: Add docs for AD5770R DAC")
and then changed it to 'reg' in
commit 2cf3818f18 ("dt-bindings: iio: dac: AD5570R fix bindings errors").
However, both these commits landed in v5.7 so the assumption is
that either 'num' is not being used or if it is, the validations were not
done.
Anyways, if someone comes back yelling about this, we might just support
both of the properties in the future. Not ideal, but that's life...

Commit b1fe0cf06f ("Input: delete MPU3050 driver") deletes the superseded
MPU3050 driver and its corresponding config INPUT_MPU3050.
The dependencies on the superseding driver in ./drivers/iio/gyro/Kconfig
to ensure that the two drivers are not built into the same kernel is a dead
dependency and not required anymore.
So, remove those config dependencies on INPUT_MPU3050 for MPU3050_I2C.
This issue was detected with ./scripts/checkkconfigsymbols.py.

The idea behind it, is that all devm_ calls in ST sensors are bound to the
parent device object.
However, the reference to that object is kept on both the st_sensor_data
struct and the IIO object parent (indio_dev->dev.parent).
This change only adds a bit consistency and uses the reference stored on
indio_dev->dev.parent, to enforce the assumption that all ST sensors' devm_
calls are bound to the same reference as the one store on st_sensor_data.

At this point all ST driver remove functions do iio_device_unregister().
This change removes them from them and replaces all iio_device_register()
with devm_iio_device_register().
This can be done in a single change relatively easy, since all these remove
functions are define in st_sensors.h.

This change converts the st_sensors_power_enable() function to use
devm_add_action_or_reset() handlers to register regulator_disable hooks for
when the drivers get unloaded.
The parent device of the IIO device object is used. This is based on the
assumption that all other devm_ calls in the ST sensors use this reference.
This makes the st_sensors_power_disable() un-needed.
Removing this also changes unload order a bit, as all ST drivers would call
st_sensors_power_disable() first and iio_device_unregister() after that.

Up until commit ea7e586bdd ("iio: st_sensors: move regulator retrieveal
to core") only the ST pressure driver seems to have had any regulator
disable. After that commit, the regulator handling was moved into the
common st_sensors logic.
In all instances of this regulator handling, the regulators were disabled
before unregistering the IIO device.
This can cause issues where the device would be powered down and still be
available to userspace, allowing it to send invalid/garbage data.
This change moves the st_sensors_power_disable() after the common probe
functions. These common probe functions also handle unregistering the IIO
device.

Add support for selecting the voltage reference from the devicetree.
This change is required to get valid readings with all three
vref hardware configurations supported by the ADC.
For instance if the ADC isn't provided with an external reference,
the sample request must specify an internal voltage reference to get a
valid reading.

This driver supports devices with 14-bit and 16-bit sample sizes.
This implies different SPI transfer lengths which are not always handled
properly by some SPI controllers.
To work around this limitation, define a big endian buffer used to split
the buffer into two 8-bit messages in the event that the controller
doesn't support 14-bit or 16-bit transfers.
A separate buffer is introduced here to avoid performing operations on
types of different endianness.
Since all transfers use the same bits_per_word value, move that logic to
the probe function, and let transfers default to the value defined in
the struct spi_device.

strcpy() performs no bounds checking on the destination buffer. This
could result in linear overflows beyond the end of the buffer, leading
to all kinds of misbehaviors. So, remove all the uses and add
devm_kstrdup() or devm_kasprintf() instead.
Also, modify the "for" loop conditions to clarify the access to the
st->orientation.rotation buffer.
This patch is an effort to clean up the proliferation of str*()
functions in the kernel and a previous step in the path to remove
the strcpy function from the kernel entirely [1].

Here is the big set of staging and IIO driver updates for 5.15-rc1.
Also included in here are the counter driver subsystem updates as the
IIO drivers needed them.
Lots of churn in some staging drivers, we dropped the "old" rtl8188eu
driver and replaced it with a newer version of the driver that had been
maintained out-of-tree by Larry with the end goal of actually being able
to get this driver out of staging eventually. Despite that driver being
"newer" the line count of this pull request is going up.
Some drivers moved out of staging as well, which is always nice to see,
that is why there are additions to the mfc and misc driver subsystems.
All of these were acked by the various subsystem maintainers involved.
But by far, as normal, it's coding style cleanups all over the
drivers/staging/ tree in here.

There is no reason to assume that the IRQ rising edge (indicating that
the device start up phase is done) will happen after we request the IRQ.
If the device is already up by the time we request it, the call to
'wait_for_completion_timeout()' will timeout and we will fail the device
probe even though there's nothing wrong.
Fix it by just polling the status register until we get the indication that
the device is up and running. As a side effect of this fix, requesting the
IRQ is also moved to after the setup function.

BMC156 is another accelerometer that works just fine with the bmc150-accel
driver. It's very similar to BMC150 (also a accelerometer + magnetometer
combo) but with only one accelerometer interrupt pin. It would make sense
if only INT1 was exposed but someone at Bosch decided to only have an
INT2 pin.
Try to deal with this by making use of the INT2 support introduced
in the previous commit and force using INT2 for BMC156. To detect
that we need to bring up a simplified version of the previous type IDs.
Note that unlike the type IDs removed in commit c06a6aba68
("iio: accel: bmc150: Drop misleading/duplicate chip identifiers")
here I only add one for the special case of BMC156. Everything else
still happens by reading the CHIP_ID register since the chip type
information often is not accurate in ACPI tables.

Some Bosch accelerometers have two interrupt pins (INT1 and INT2).
At the moment, the driver uses only the first one, which is fine for
most situations. However, some boards might only have INT2 connected
for some reason.
Add the necessary bits and configuration to set up INT2. Then try
to detect this situation at least for device tree setups by checking
if the first interrupt (the one picked by the I2C/SPI core) is actually
named "INT2" using the interrupt-names property.
of_irq_get_byname() returns either 0 or some error code in case
the driver probed without device tree, so in all other cases we fall
back to configuring INT1 as before.

sgp40 is a gas sensor used for measuring the air quality.
This driver is reading the raw resistance value which can be passed to
an userspace algorithm for further calculation.
The raw value is also used to calculate an estimated absolute voc index
in the range from 0 to 500. For this purpose the raw_mean value of the
resistance for which the index value is 250 might be set up as a
calibration step. This can be done with in_resistance_calibbias.
Compensation of relative humidity and temperature is supported and can
be used by writing to output values of out_humidityrelative_raw and
out_temp_raw.
There is a predecesor sensor type (sgp30) already existing. This driver
module was not extended because the new sensor is quite different in its
i2c telegrams.

For the function of platform_get_irq(), the example in platform.c is

* return irq;
the return value of zero is unnecessary to check, so make the right
check and simplify code.
Note that platform_get_irq() is documented as never returning 0
so this is a minor optmization rather than a fix.

Add a device managed hook, via devm_add_action_or_reset() and
max5821_regulator_disable(), to disable voltage regulator on device
detach.
Replace iio_device_register() by devm_iio_device_register() and remove
the max5821_remove() function used to unregister the device and disable the
voltage regulator.
Remove i2c_set_clientdata() from the probe function, since
i2c_get_clientdata() is not used anymore.
Remove regulator_disable() calls from the probe function.

The JZ4760B variant differs slightly from the JZ4760: it has a bit called VBAT_SEL in the CFG register.
In order to correctly sample the battery voltage on existing handhelds using this SOC, the bit must be cleared.
We leave the possibility to set the bit, by using the "ingenic,use-internal-divider" in the devicetree.

through all the possible adc_period levels because the exit logic in
the loop is inverted. I believe the comparison should be swapped and

G12A and newer don't use the SAR ADC to read the SoC temperature from
within the firmware. Instead there's now a dedicated thermal sensor.
Disable the BL30 integration for G12A and newer SoCs to save a few CPU
cycles when reading samples.
Adding a separate struct meson_sar_adc_data is a good idea anyways
because starting with G12A there's some extra registers to read the
samples in a simplified way.

The datasheets have the following note for the conversion time
specification: "This parameter is specified by design and/or
characterization and it is not tested in production."
Parts have been seen that require more time to do 14-bit conversions for
the relative humidity channel. The result is ENXIO due to the address
phase of a transfer not getting an ACK.
Delay an additional 1 ms per conversion to allow for additional margin.

But the same can be done with devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup() and then
the st_gyro_common_remove() no longer needs to manually deallocate it.
We know that the parent of the IIO device is used to manage other instances
of the devm unwind, so it can be used in the st_gyro_allocate_ring() as
well.

allocate a triggered buffer.
But the same can be done with devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup() and then
the st_magn_common_remove() no longer needs to manually deallocate it.
We know that the parent of the IIO device is used to manage other instances
of the devm unwind, so it can be used in the st_magn_allocate_ring() as
well.
This change also removes some omitted st_magn_{probe,remove}_trigger()
inline hooks.

With CONFIG_SPI=y and CONFIG_I2C=m, building fxls8962af into vmlinux
causes a link error against the I2C module:

The st-sensors drivers have changed in structure over time, and includes
have not always kept up with this. Let's bring them back to nearer
the ideal.
Identified with the include-what-you-use tool and careful checking of
its suggestions.
Note I haven't been particularly aggressive here, so this is just the
cases where the include obviously isn't needed rather than the more
subtle corners.
Note I took the opportunity to add mod_devicetable.h as I generally
prefer to see that when acpi or of match tables are present.

The point of this new change is to make the IIO tree actually parsable.
Before, given this attribute as a filename:
in_voltage0_aux_sample_rate
Userspace had no way to know if the attribute name was
"aux_sample_rate" with no extended name, or "sample_rate" with "aux" as
the extended name, or just "rate" with "aux_sample" as the extended
name.
This was somewhat possible to deduce when there was more than one
attribute present for a given channel, e.g:
in_voltage0_aux_sample_rate
in_voltage0_aux_frequency
There, it was possible to deduce that "aux" was the extended name. But
even with more than one attribute, this wasn't very robust, as two
attributes starting with the same prefix (e.g. "sample_rate" and
"sample_size") would result in the first part of the prefix being
interpreted as being part of the extended name.
To address the issue, knowing that channels will never have both a label
and an extended name, set the channel's label to the extended name.
In this case, the label's attribute will also have the extended name in
its filename, but we can live with that - userspace can open
in_voltage0_<prefix>_label and verify that it returns <prefix> to obtain
the extended name.

Extended names are a problem for user-space as they make the filenames
in sysfs sometimes not parsable. They are now deprecated in favor of
labels.
This change makes sure that a device driver won't provide both labels
and extended names for its channels. It has never been the case and we
don't want it to happen.

Add startup time for each chip familly. This allows a better behaviour of
the gyro and the accel. The gyro has now the time to stabilise itself
thus making initial data discarding for gyro irrelevant.

This driver has two parts, one for i2c and one for spi, since the chip can
operate with both wire protocols.
The core file has a common adxl345_core_remove() function which puts the
chip into a powerdown state. This can be implemented with a
devm_add_action_or_reset() hook.
Doing that means we can register the IIO device with
devm_iio_device_register() and get rid of the adxl345_core_remove()
function.
The dev_set_drvdata() call can be removed as there is no other user of this
private data anymore.

This change converts the driver to use only device-managed init routines in
the probe function of the driver.
This way, we no longer need the tcs3414_remove() hook.
We still need to keep the i2c_set_clientdata() call, as that's being used
for the PM routines.
And lastly, a devm_add_action_or_reset() hook is added to call the
powerdown handler when the chip is uninitialized or the probe fails.

The change converts the probe function to use the
devm_iio_device_register() function.
Before calling that, we need to register an action to store the wiper back
to non-volatile memory when the device is de-registered.
We don't need to do this if the probe fails, because the only place where
the probe can fail now is devm_iio_device_register() and that shouldn't
create an IIO device (for userspace to poke at) if it fails.

When the device is probed, there's no guarantee that the device is not in
power-down mode. This can happen if the driver is unregistered and
re-probed.
To make sure this doesn't happen, the value of the TMP006_CONFIG register
(which is read in the probe function and stored in the device's private
data) is being checked to see if the MOD bits have the correct value.
This is a fix for a somewhat-rare corner case. As it stands, this doesn't
look like a high priority to go into the Fixes route.

This change converts the driver to register via devm_iio_device_register().
For the tmp006_powerdown() hook, this uses a devm_add_action() hook to put
the device in powerdown mode when it's unregistered.
With these changes, the remove hook can be removed.
The i2c_set_clientdata() call is staying around as the private data is used
in the PM routines.

The datasheet mentions that the suspend mode is toggled by reading the
suspend register. The reading returns value 0xFF if the system was in
suspend mode, otherwise it returns value 0x00.
The bma220_deinit() function does up to 2 reads, in case the device was in
suspend mode, which suggests a level of paranoia that makes the logic in
bma220_suspend() and bma220_resume() look insufficient.
This change implements a bma220_power() function which does up to 2 reads
of the suspend register to make sure that the chip enters a desired
(suspended or normal) mode.
If the transition fails, then -EBUSY is returned.
Since only a reference to SPI device is required, we can remove the
spi_set_drvdata() call and get the SPI device object from the base device
object in the suspend/resume routines.

This change converts the driver to use devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup()
and devm_iio_device_register() for initializing and registering the IIO
device.
The bma220_deinit() is converted into a callback for a
devm_add_action_or_reset() hook, so that the device is put in stand-by when
the driver gets uninitialized.
The return value of the bma220_deinit() function isn't used as it does not
add any value. On the error path of the probe function, this can just
override the actual error with -EBUSY, or can even return 0 (no error), on
the error path.

The naming of the regulator is problematic. VCC is usually a supply
voltage whereas these devices have a separate VREF pin.
Secondly, the regulator core might have provided a stub regulator if
a real regulator wasn't provided. That would in turn have failed to
provide a voltage when queried. So reality was that there was no way
to use the internal reference.
In order to avoid breaking any dts out in the wild, make sure to fallback
to the original vcc naming if vref is not available.

These 2 functions only do I2C reads/writes and don't require any of the
private data of the driver.
They're also used in the PM suspend/resume part of the driver.
Converting them to take an i2c_client object as parameter simplifies things
a bit (especially in the suspend/resume) as the driver mostly needs the
reference for i2c_client, so no need to jump through hoops to get it from
the private data (as was done in many places).
The rfd77402_measure() function has also been converted to take an
i2c_client object, since it also does only I2C ops.

object, the driver is a simple conversion to use only device-managed
functions in the probe.
The iio_triggered_buffer_setup() and iio_device_register() functions are

This change moves the entire buffer on the private adjd_s311_data type.
Since the device has 4 channels, it's not a big waste to just allocate the
maximum possible buffer and use only what's needed.
This is in contrast with free-ing and re-allocating the buffer on the
update_scan_mode hook.
Since the driver pushes buffer data with
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp(), the buffer must also include a
64-bit buffer for the timestamp, for each sample-set.
With this change, the adjd_s311_update_scan_mode() is no longer needed.

The ADS7950 requires that CS is deasserted after each SPI word. Before
commit e2540da86e ("iio: adc: ti-ads7950: use SPI_CS_WORD to reduce
CPU usage") the driver used a message with one spi transfer per channel
where each but the last one had .cs_change set to enforce a CS toggle.
This was wrongly translated into a message with a single transfer and
.cs_change set which results in a CS toggle after each word but the
last which corrupts the first adc conversion of all readouts after the
first readout.

Some HID drivers use devm_kmemdup() already to clone the template IIO
channels information and update it.
However, there are still some drivers that kmemdup() and kfree() the
channels.
This change converts them to use devm_kmemdup() and bind the life-time of
this allocated object to the parent device object (in these drivers).

Allocating an IRQ is conditional to the IRQ existence, but freeing it
was not. If no IRQ was allocate, the driver would still try to free
IRQ 0. Add the missing checks.

It is quite strange that BMA222 and BMA222E have very close, yet
subtly different values in their scale tables. Comparing the datasheets
this is simply because the "Resolution" for the different measurement
ranges are documented with different precision.
For example, for +-2g the BMA222 datasheet [1] suggests a resolution
of 15.6 mg/LSB, while the BMA222E datasheet [2] suggests 15.63 mg/LSB.
Actually, there is no need to rely on the resolution given by the Bosch
datasheets. The resolution and scale can be calculated more consistently
and accurately using the range (e.g. +-2g) and the channel size (e.g. 8 bits).
Distributing 4g (-2g to 2g) over 8 bits results in an exact resolution
of (4g / 2^8) = 15.625 mg/LSB which is the same value as in both datasheets,
just slightly more accurate. Multiplying g = 9.80665 m/s^2 we get a more
accurate value for the IIO scale table.
Generalizing this we can calculate the scale tables more accurately using
(range / 2^bits) * g * 10^6 (because of IIO_VAL_INT_PLUS_MICRO).
Document this and make the scale tables more consistent and accurate
for all the variants using that formula. Now the scale tables for
BMA222 and BMA222E are consistent and probably slightly more accurate.

General driver churn doesn't always include updates of header includes.
Manual review of the output of the include-what-you-use checker lead to the
following cleanup. Hopefuly this brings things back to a good state for the
hid-sensor drivers.

The devm_ handled runtime pm disable calls pm_runtime_put_sync_suspend()
which isn't balancing a matching get call. It isn't a bug as such,
because the runtime pm core doesn't decrement the reference count below
zero, but it is missleading so let's drop it.
Using pm_runtime_resume_and_get() new call makes it easy to handle
failures in resume as it doesn't hold a reference count if it exits
with an error.

The ltr559 chip uses only the lowest bit of the ALS_CONTR register to
configure between active and stand-by mode. In the original driver
BIT(1) is used, which does a software reset instead.
This patch fixes the problem by using BIT(0) as als_mode_active for
the ltr559 chip.

The regmap is configured for 8 bit registers, uses a RB-Tree cache and
marks several registers as volatile (i.e. do not cache).
The ALS and PS data registers in the chip are 16 bit wide and spans
two regmap registers. In the current driver only the base register is
marked as volatile, resulting in the upper register only read once.
Further the data sheet notes:
| When the I2C read operation starts, all four ALS data registers are
| locked until the I2C read operation of register 0x8B is completed.
Which results in the registers never update after the 2nd read.
This patch fixes the problem by marking the upper 8 bits of the ALS
and PS registers as volatile, too.

Commit c1d1c4a62d ("iio: accel: bma180: BMA254 support") added
BMA254 support to the bma180 driver and changed some naming to BMA25x
to make it easier to add support for BMA253 and BMA255.
Unfortunately, there is quite some overlap between the bma180 driver
and the bmc150-accel driver. Back when the commit was made, the
bmc150-accel driver actually already had support for BMA255, and
adding support for BMA254 would have been as simple as adding a new
compatible to bmc150-accel.
The bmc150-accel driver is a bit better for BMA254 since it also
supports the motion trigger/interrupt functionality. Fortunately,
moving BMA254 support over to bmc150-accel is fairly simple because
the drivers have compatible device tree bindings.
Revert most of the changes for BMA254 support in bma180 and move
BMA254 over to bmc150-accel. This has the following advantages:
- Support for motion trigger/interrupt
- Fix incorrect scale values (BMA254 currently uses the same as
BMA250 but actually they're different because of 10 vs 12 bits
data size)
- Less code than before :)
BMA250 could be potentially also moved but it's more complicated
because its chip_id conflicts with the one for BMA222 in bmc150-accel.
Perhaps there are also other register differences, I did not investigate
further yet (and I have no way to test it).

BMA253 is mostly like BMA255 and has exactly the same register layout
as used by the bmc150-accel driver as far I can tell. Making it work
is as simple as adding new device IDs for it since it has the same
chip_id = 0xFA (250) as BMA255 and others.

The chips supported by the bmc150-accel driver are clearly documented
in Kconfig, in the bmc150_accel_chip_info_tbl as well as in all the
device ID tables in the I2C/SPI drivers. It's easy to forget to update
the lists in the file header. Drop those entirely to reduce the amount
of changes required to add new chip variants.

Commit 0ad4bf3701 ("iio:accel:bmc150-accel: Use the chip ID to detect
sensor variant") stopped using the I2C/ACPI match data to look up the
bmc150_accel_chip_info. However, the bmc150_accel_chip_info_tbl remained
as-is, with multiple entries with the same chip_id (e.g. 0xFA for
BMC150/BMI055/BMA255). This is redundant now because actually the driver
will always select the first entry with a matching chip_id.
So even if a device probes e.g. with BMA0255 it will end up using the
chip_info for BMC150. And in general that's fine for now, the entries
for BMC150/BMI055/BMA255 were exactly the same anyway (except for the
name, which is replaced with the more accurate one later).
But in this case it's misleading because it suggests that one should
add even more entries with the same chip_id when adding support for
new variants. Let's make that more clear by removing the enum with
the chip identifiers entirely and instead have only one entry per
chip_id.
Note that we may need to bring back some mechanism to differentiate
between different chips with the same chip_id in the future.
For example, BMA250 (currently supported by the bma180 driver) has the
same chip_id = 0x03 as BMA222 even though they have different channel
sizes (8 bits vs 10 bits). But in any case, that mechanism would
need to look quite different from what we have right now.

The Kconfig option currently says that all Bosch accelerometers
supported by the bmc150-accel driver are combo chips with both
accelerometer and magnetometer. This is wrong: actually only BMC150
is such a combo. The BMA* variants only contain an accelerometer
and the BMI055 actually is a accelerometer + gyroscope combo.
Clarify this in the help text and also make the list of supported
variants complete and sorted for consistency.

According to sysfs-bus-iio documentation the unit for accelerometer
values after applying scale/offset should be m/s^2, not g, which explains
why the scale values for the other variants in bmc150-accel do not match
exactly the values given in the datasheet.
To get the correct values, we need to multiply the BMA222 scale values
by g = 9.80665 m/s^2.

According to the BMA253 datasheet [1] and BMA250 datasheet [2] the
bandwidth value for BMA25x should be set as 01xxx:
"Settings 00xxx result in a bandwidth of 7.81 Hz; [...]
It is recommended [...] to use the range from ´01000b´ to ´01111b´
only in order to be compatible with future products."
However, at the moment the drivers sets bandwidth values from 0 to 6,
which is not recommended and always results into 7.81 Hz bandwidth
according to the datasheet.
Fix this by introducing a bw_offset = 8 = 01000b for BMA25x,

These were usually used before the conversion to devm_ functions, so that
the remove hook would be able to retrieve the pointer and do cleanups on
remove.
When the conversion happened, they should have been removed, but were
omitted.
Some drivers were copied from drivers that fit the criteria described
above. In any case, in order to prevent more drivers from being used as
example (and have spi_set_drvdata() needlessly set), this change removes it
from the IIO ADC group.

the remove hook would be able to retrieve the pointer and do cleanups on
remove.
When the conversion happened, they should have been removed, but were

Since all AD Sigma-Delta drivers now use the
devm_ad_sd_setup_buffer_and_trigger() function, we can remove the old
ad_sd_{setup,cleanup}_buffer_and_trigger() functions.
This way we can discourage new drivers that use the ad_sigma_delta
lib-driver to use these (older functions).

The devm_clk_get_optional() helper returns NULL when devm_clk_get() returns
-ENOENT.
This makes things slightly cleaner. The added benefit is mostly cosmetic.
Also, a minor detail with this call, is that the reference for the parent
device is taken as `spi->dev` instead of `&st->sd.spi->dev` (which looks a
little quirky).

This is a version of ad_sd_setup_buffer_and_trigger() with all underlying
functions (that are used) being replaced with their device-managed
variants.
One thing to take care here is with {devm_}iio_trigger_alloc(), where both
functions take a parent-device object as the first parameter.
To make sure nothing quirky is happening, the devm_ad_sd_probe_trigger()
function is checking that the provided 'dev' reference is the same as the
one stored on the 'struct ad_sigma_delta' driver data.

Some Yoga laptops with 1 accelerometer in the display and 1 in the base,
use an ACPI HID of DUAL250E instead of BOSC0200.
Set the iio-device's label for DUAL250E devices to a value indicating which
sensor is which, mirroring how we do this for BOSC0200 dual sensor devices.
Note the DUAL250E fwnode unfortunately does not include a mount-matrix.

Factor the BOSC0200 ACPI HID handling out into a new
bmc150_apply_bosc0200_acpi_orientation() function and make
bmc150_apply_acpi_orientation() call that when dealing with
a BOSC0200 ACPI device (and make it return false otherwise).
This is a preparation patch for adding special handling for other
ACPI HIDs (the "DUAL250E" HID).

Some 360 degree hinges (yoga) style 2-in-1 devices use 2 bmc150 accels
to allow the OS to determine the angle between the display and the base
of the device, so that the OS can determine if the 2-in-1 is in laptop
or in tablet-mode.
On Windows both accelerometers are read (polled) by a special service
and this service calls the DSM (Device Specific Method), which in turn
translates the angles to one of laptop/tablet/tent/stand mode and then
notifies the EC about the new mode and the EC then enables or disables
the builtin keyboard and touchpad based in the mode.
When the 2-in-1 is powered-on or resumed folded in tablet mode the
EC senses this independent of the DSM by using a HALL effect sensor
which senses that the keyboard has been folded away behind the display.
At power-on or resume the EC disables the keyboard based on this and
the only way to get the keyboard to work after this is to call the
DSM to re-enable it.
Call the DSM on probe() and resume() to fix the keyboard not working
when powered-on / resumed in tablet-mode.
This patch was developed and tested on a Lenovo Yoga 300-IBR.

Now that the definition of the bmc150_accel_data struct is no longer
private to bmc150-accel-core.c, bmc150-accel-i2c.c can simply directly
access the second_dev member and the accessor functions are no longer
necessary.
Note if the i2c_acpi_new_device() for the second-client now fails,
an ERR_PTR gets stored in data->second_dev this is fine since it is only
ever passed to i2c_unregister_device() which has an IS_ERR_OR_NULL() check.

which contains I2C and IRQ resources for 2 accelerometers, 1 in the
display and one in the base of the device. Add support for this.

On machines with dual accelerometers described in a single ACPI fwnode,
the bmc150_accel_probe() instantiates a second i2c-client for the second
accelerometer.
A pointer to this manually instantiated second i2c-client is stored
inside the iio_dev's private-data through bmc150_set_second_device(),
so that the i2c-client can be unregistered from bmc150_accel_remove().
Before this commit bmc150_set_second_device() took only 1 argument so it
would store the pointer in private-data of the iio_dev belonging to the
manually instantiated i2c-client, leading to the bmc150_accel_remove()
call for the second_dev trying to unregister *itself* while it was
being removed, leading to a deadlock and rmmod hanging.
Change bmc150_set_second_device() to take 2 arguments: 1. The i2c-client
which is instantiating the second i2c-client for the 2nd accelerometer and
2. The second-device pointer itself (which also is an i2c-client).
This will store the second_device pointer in the private data of the
iio_dev belonging to the (ACPI instantiated) i2c-client for the first
accelerometer and will make bmc150_accel_remove() unregister the
second_device i2c-client when called for the first client,
avoiding the deadlock.

The drvdata for iio-parent devices points to the struct iio_dev for
the iio-device. So by directly casting the return from i2c_get_clientdata()
to struct bmc150_accel_data * the code was ending up storing the second_dev
pointer in (and retrieving it from) some semi-random offset inside
struct iio_dev, rather then storing it in the second_dev member of the
bmc150_accel_data struct.
Fix the code to get the struct bmc150_accel_data * pointer to call
iio_priv() on the struct iio_dev * returned by i2c_get_clientdata(),
so that the correct pointer gets dereferenced.
This fixes the following oops on rmmod, caused by trying to
dereference the wrong return of bmc150_get_second_device():

unnecessary %h[xudi] and %hh[xudi]")
use of these format strings has been discouraged.
As there are only a few such instances in IIO, this is part of a
series clearing them out so they don't get copied into new drivers.
Use the 0x02x form as the length specifier when used with # includes
the 0x prefix and is very unlikely to be what was intended by the author.
