Don't return early when the flash is smaller than or equal to 16MiB. We
need to be able to register hooks for all sizes of flashes. This also has
the benefit that it increases the readability of the code because the
action, i.e. registering the fixups, is connected to the condition, i.e.
flashes larger than 16MiB.

Xilinx and Micron flashes have their own implementation of the
spi_nor_ready() function. At the moment, the core will figure out
which one to call according to some flags. Lay the foundation to
make it possible that a flash can register its own ready()
function.

Wp-gpios property can be used on NVMEM nodes and the same property can
be also used on MTD NAND nodes. In case of the wp-gpios property is
defined at NAND level node, the GPIO management is done at NAND driver
level. Write protect is disabled when the driver is probed or resumed
and is enabled when the driver is released or suspended.
When no partitions are defined in the NAND DT node, then the NAND DT node
will be passed to NVMEM framework. If wp-gpios property is defined in
this node, the GPIO resource is taken twice and the NAND controller
driver fails to probe.
A new Boolean flag named ignore_wp has been added in nvmem_config.
In case ignore_wp is set, it means that the GPIO is handled by the
provider. Lets set this flag in MTD layer to avoid the conflict on
wp_gpios property.

In devicetree the flash information is embedded within nand chip node,
so during nand chip initialization the nand chip node should be passed
to nand_set_flash_node() api, instead of nand controller node.

it turns out that the preferred way to deal with the SPI flash controller
drivers is through SPI MEM which is part of Linux SPI subsystem.
This series does that for the intel-spi driver. This also renames the
driver to follow the convention used in the SPI subsystem. The first patch
improves the write protection handling to be slightly more safer. The
following two patches do the conversion itself. Note the Intel SPI flash
controller only allows commands such as read, write and so on and it
internally uses whatever addressing etc. it figured from the SFDP on the
flash device.

The preferred way to implement SPI-NOR controller drivers is through SPI
subsubsystem utilizing the SPI MEM core functions. This converts the
Intel SPI flash controller driver over the SPI MEM by moving the driver
from SPI-NOR subsystem to SPI subsystem and in one go make it use the
SPI MEM functions. The driver name will be changed from intel-spi to
spi-intel to match the convention used in the SPI subsystem.

Currently the driver tries to disable the BIOS write protection
automatically even if this is not what the user wants. For this reason
modify the driver so that by default it does not touch the write
protection. Only if specifically asked by the user (setting writeable=1
command line parameter) the driver tries to disable the BIOS write
protection.

the ECC engine in the direct mapping hooks. As direct mapping
configurations are meant to be static, it is best to create two new
mappings: one for regular 'raw' accesses and one for accesses involving
correction. It is up to the driver to use or not the new ECC enable
boolean contained in the spi-mem operation.
As dirmaps are not free (they consume a few pages of MMIO address space)
and because these extra entries are only meant to be used by pipelined
engines, let's limit their use to this specific type of engine and save
a bit of memory with all the other setups.

As we will soon tweak the dirmap creation to act a little bit

Introduce the support for another possible configuration: the ECC
engine may work as DMA master (pipelined) and move itself the data
to/from the NAND chip into the buffer, applying the necessary
corrections/computations on the fly.
This driver offers an ECC engine implementation that must be
instatiated from a SPI controller driver.

The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)
So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

In a pipelined engine situation, we might either have the host which
internally has support for error correction, or have it using an
external hardware block for this purpose. In the former case, the host
is also the ECC engine. In the latter case, it is not. In order to get
the right pointers on the right devices (for example: in order to devm_*
allocate variables), let's introduce this helper which can safely be
called by pipelined ECC engines in order to retrieve the right device
structure.

Some SPI-NAND chips do not support on-die ECC. For these chips,
correction must apply on the SPI controller end. In order to avoid
doing all the calculations by software, Macronix provides a specific
engine that can offload the intensive work.
Add Macronix ECC engine support, this engine can work in conjunction
with a SPI controller and a raw NAND controller, it can be pipelined
or external and supports linear and syndrome layouts.
Right now the simplest configuration is supported: SPI controller
external and linear ECC engine.

Prevent rawnand access while in a suspended state.

Reduce the number of exported symbols by replacing:
- mtd_expert_analysis_warning (the error string)
- mtd_expert_analysis_mode (the boolean)
with a single helper:
- mtd_check_expert_analysis_mode
Calling this helper will both check/return the content of the internal
boolean -which is not exported anymore- and as well conditionally
WARN_ONCE() the user, like it was done before.
While on this function, make the error string local to the helper and
set it const. Only export this helper when CONFIG_DEBUG_FS is defined to
limit the growth of the Linux kernel size only for a debug feature on
production kernels.
Mechanically update all the consumers.

of_match_ptr() either expands to NULL if !CONFIG_OF, or is transparent
otherwise. There are several drivers using this macro which keep their
of_device_id array enclosed within an #ifdef CONFIG_OF check, these are
considered fine. However, When misused, the of_device_id array pointed
by this macro will produce a warning because it is finally unused when
compiled without OF support.
A number of fixes are possible:
- Always depend on CONFIG_OF, but this will not always work and may
break boards.
- Enclose the compatible array by #ifdef's, this may save a bit of
memory but will reduce build coverage.
- Tell the compiler the array may be unused, if this can be avoided,
let's not do this.
- Just drop the macro, setting the of_device_id array for a non OF
enabled platform is not an issue, it will just be unused.
The latter solution seems the more appropriate, so let's use it.

The brcmnand driver contains a bug in which if a page (example 2k byte)
is read from the parallel/ONFI NAND and within that page a subpage (512
byte) has correctable errors which is followed by a subpage with
uncorrectable errors, the page read will return the wrong status of
correctable (as opposed to the actual status of uncorrectable.)
The bug is in function brcmnand_read_by_pio where there is a check for
uncorrectable bits which will be preempted if a previous status for
correctable bits is detected.
The fix is to stop checking for bad bits only if we already have a bad
bits status.

With some spi devices, the heavy cpu usage due to polling the spi
registers may lead to netdev timeouts, RCU complaints, etc. This can
be acute in the absence of CONFIG_PREEMPT. This patch allows to give
enough breathing room to avoid those incorrectly detected netdev
timeouts for example.

The problem is that "erasesize" is a uint64_t type so it might be
non-zero but the lower 32 bits are zero so when it's truncated,
"(uint32_t)erasesize", then that value is zero. This leads to a
divide by zero bug.
Avoid the bug by delaying the divide until after we have validated
that "erasesize" is non-zero and within the uint32_t range.

In the event of a skipped partition (case when the entry name is empty)
the kernel panics in the cleanup function as the name entry is NULL.
Rework the parser logic by first checking the real partition number and
then allocate the space and set the data for the valid partitions.
The logic was also fundamentally wrong as with a skipped partition, the
parts number returned was incorrect by not decreasing it for the skipped
partitions.

Interacting with a NAND chip on an IPQ6018 I found that the qcomsmem NAND
partition parser was returning -EPROBE_DEFER waiting for the main smem
driver to load.
This caused the board to reset. Playing about with the probe() function
shows that the problem lies in the core clock being switched off before the
nandc_unalloc() routine has completed.
If we look at how qcom_nandc_remove() tears down allocated resources we see
the expected order is

In the i.MX28 manual (MCIMX28RM, Rev. 1, 2010) you can find an example
(15.2.4 High-Speed NAND Timing) of how to configure the GPMI controller
to manage High-Speed NAND devices, so it was wrong to assume that only
i.MX6 can achieve EDO timings.

What to do when the real rate of the gpmi clock is not equal to the
required one? The solutions proposed in [1] did not lead to a conclusion
on how to validate the clock rate, so, inspired by the document [2], I
consider the rate correct only if not lower or equal to the rate of the
previous edo mode. In fact, in chapter 4.16.2 (NV-DDR) of the document [2],
it is written that "If the host selects timing mode n, then its clock
period shall be faster than the clock period of timing mode n-1 and
slower than or equal to the clock period of timing mode n.". I thought
that it could therefore also be used in this case, without therefore
having to define the valid rate ranges empirically.
For example, suppose that gpmi_nfc_compute_timings() is called to set
edo mode 5 (100MHz) but the rate returned by clk_round_rate() is 80MHz
(edo mode 4). In this case gpmi_nfc_compute_timings() will return error,
and will be called again to set edo mode 4, which this time will be
successful.

Set the controller registers according to the real clock rate. The
controller registers configuration (setup, hold, timeout, ... cycles)
depends on the clock rate of the GPMI. Using the real rate instead of
the ideal one, avoids that this inaccuracy (required_rate - real_rate)
affects the registers setting.
This patch has been tested on two custom boards with i.MX28 and i.MX6
SOCs:

Many BMC designs have two flash chips so that they can handle a hardware
failure of one of them. If one chip failed, it doesn't do any good to
have redundancy if they all get removed anyhow.
Improve the resilience of the probe function to handle one of the
children being missing or failed. Only in the case where all children
fail to probe should the controller be failed out.

Add a BCMA shim to allow us to register the brcmnand driver using the
BCMA bus which provides indirect memory mapped access to SoC registers.
There are a number of registers that need to be byte swapped because
they are natively big endian, coming directly from the NAND chip, and
there is no bus interface unlike the iProc or STB platforms that
performs the byte swapping for us.

For some odd and unexplained reason the BCMA NAND controller, albeit
revision 3.4 uses a command shift of 0 instead of 24 as it should be,

The BCMA devices include the brcmnand controller but they do not wire up
any interrupt line, allow the main interrupt to be optional and update
the completion path to also check for the lack of an interrupt line.

In order to initialize a given chip select object for use by the
brcmnand driver, move all of the Device Tree specific routines outside
of brcmnand_init_cs() in order to make it usable in a platform data
configuration which will be necessary for supporting BCMA chips.

Allow a brcmnand_soc instance to provide a custom set of I/O operations
which we will require when using this driver on a BCMA bus which is not
directly memory mapped I/O. Update the nand_{read,write}_reg accordingly
to use the SoC operations if provided.
To minimize the penalty on other SoCs which do support standard MMIO
accesses, we use a static key which is disabled by default and gets
enabled if a soc implementation does provide I/O operations.

of_get_nand_bus_width() had a wrong behavior because:
1/ it ignored the -ENODATA and -EOVERFLOW return values of
of_property_read_u32(). "nand-bus-width" without value was tolerated
while it shouldn't have been according to the devicetree bindings.
2/ returned -EIO when the nand-bus-width was neither 8 nor 16, when it
should have returned -EINVAL instead.
3/ returned the 8 or 16 bus-width integer, but it was never used it its
caller. A simply return 0 on success is enough.
Rework of_get_nand_bus_width() and address all the above. The execution
is now stopped in case of errors.

For the possible failure of the platform_get_irq(), the returned irq
could be error number and will finally cause the failure of the
request_irq().
Consider that platform_get_irq() can now in certain cases return
-EPROBE_DEFER, and the consequences of letting request_irq() effectively
convert that into -EINVAL, even at probe time rather than later on.
So it might be better to check just now.

Add the necessary helpers to register/unregister hardware ECC engines
that will be called from ECC engine drivers.
Also add helpers to get the right engine from the user
perspective. Keep a reference of the in use ECC engine in order to
prevent modules to be unloaded. Put the reference when the engine gets
retired.
A static list of hardware (only) ECC engines is setup to keep track of
the registered engines.

The cause of this problem is that commit 714fb87e8b make device
"available" before it becomes accessible via sysfs. Therefore, we
roll back the modification. We will fix the race condition between
ubi device creation and udev by removing ubi_get_device in
vol_attribute_show and dev_attribute_show.This avoids accessing
uninitialized ubi_devices[ubi_num].
ubi_get_device is used to prevent devices from being deleted during
sysfs execution. However, now kernfs ensures that devices will not
be deleted before all reference counting are released.

SPI NOR sysfs defines partname and jedec_id device attributes, which
duplicate the information from debugfs. Since the sysfs directory
structure and the attributes in each directory define an ABI between the
kernel and user space, thus it can never be removed, remove the debugfs
entries so that we don't duplicate the information.

The Octal DTR configuration is stored in the CFR0V register. This
register is 1 byte wide. But 1 byte long transactions are not allowed in
8D-8D-8D mode. The next byte address contains the CFR1V register, which
contains the number of dummy cycles. This is very fortunate since the
enable path changes the value of this register. Reset the value to its
default when disabling Octal DTR mode. This way, both changes to the
flash state made when enabling can be reverted in one single
transaction.

The template ops used in spi_nor_spimem_check_pp() and
spi_nor_spimem_check_readop() currently set the data phase to 1 byte
long. This is problematic for 8D-8D-8D protocol where odd length data
phase is invalid since one cycle transfers 2 bytes and odd number of
bytes would mean half a cycle is left over. This could result in a
controller rejecting the op as "not supported" even though it actually
supports the protocol.
Change the data length to 2 bytes in these templates. One might argue
that this should only be done for 8D-8D-8D operations but when talking
about these templates, there is no functional difference between one and
two bytes, even in STR modes.

The slave_id was previously used to pick one DMA slave instead of another,
but this is now done through the DMA descriptors in device tree.
For the qcom_adm driver, the configuration is documented in the DT
binding to contain a tuple of device identifier and a "crci" field,
but the implementation ends up using only a single cell for identifying
the slave, with the crci getting passed in nonstandard properties of
the device, and passed through the dma driver using the old slave_id
field. Part of the problem apparently is that the nand driver ends up
using only a single DMA request ID, but requires distinct values for
"crci" depending on the type of transfer.
Change both the dmaengine driver and the two slave drivers to allow
the documented binding to work in addition to the ad-hoc passing
of crci values. In order to no longer abuse the slave_id field, pass
the data using the "peripheral_config" mechanism instead.

enable GENPD support for the core domain. Now NAND must be resumed using
runtime PM API in order to initialize the NAND power state. Add runtime PM
and OPP support to the NAND driver.

In the mtdchar_write_ioctl() function, memdup_user() is called with its
'len' parameter set to verbatim values provided by user space via a
struct mtd_write_req. Both the 'len' and 'ooblen' fields of that
structure are 64-bit unsigned integers, which means the MEMWRITE ioctl
can trigger unbounded kernel memory allocation requests.
Fix by iterating over the buffers provided by user space in a loop,
processing at most mtd->erasesize bytes in each iteration. Adopt some
checks from mtd_check_oob_ops() to retain backward user space
compatibility.

When developping NAND controller drivers or when debugging filesystem
corruptions, it is quite common to need hacking locally into the
MTD/NAND core in order to get access to the content of the bad
blocks. Instead of having multiple implementations out there let's
provide a simple yet effective specific MTD-wide debugfs entry to fully
disable these checks on purpose.
A warning is added to inform the user when this mode gets enabled.

New flash additions that support SFDP should be declared with
PARSE_SFDP and with all the other flags that are not SFDP
discoverable.
Keep the old way of initializing the flash, until all the flashes
are converted to use either PARSE_SFDP or SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP.
Flashes that declare PARSE_SFDP do not have a roll-back mechanism
because if spi_nor_parse_sfdp() returns an error it means that either
BFPT is not supported, thus SFDP is not supported and the user didn't
correctly declared the flash_info entry, or some memalloc failed.
Either way we should return an error. The rest of the SFDP tables are
optional, if one of the optional SFDP tables fails, we just continue.
We would like to get rid of the default_init() hook, so the
spi_nor_manufacturer_init_params() is not called in the new sequnce
of flash initialization.
Split spi_nor_info_init_params() in spi_nor_init_default_params()
and spi_nor_no_sfdp_init_params(). spi_nor_init_default_params() is
called for all the flashes regardless if they support SFDP or not.
spi_nor_no_sfdp_init_params() is called just for the flashes that
do not define SFDP and initializes parameters and setting solely
based on flash_info data.

Group NOR flags initialization. Introduce a dedicated function for
setting the fixup_flags and emphasise when those flash_info flags
should be set: when the SNOR_F_4B_OPCODES/SNOR_F_IO_MODE_EN_VOLATILE
setttings can not be discovered by SFDP for this particular flash
because the SFDP table that indicates this support is not defined
in the flash.
In case the table for his support is defined but has wrong values,
one should instead use a post_sfdp() hook to set the SNOR_F equivalent
flag.
No functional change intended in this patch.

Clarify for what the flash_info flags are used for. Split them in
four categories and a bool:
1/ FLAGS: flags that indicate support that is not defined by the JESD216
standard in its SFDP tables.
2/ NO_SFDP_FLAGS: these flags are used when the flash does not define the
SFDP tables. These flags indicate support that can be discovered via
SFDP. Used together with SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP flag.
3/ FIXUP_FLAGS: flags that indicate support that can be discovered
via SFDP ideally, but can not be discovered for this particular flash
because the SFDP table that indicates this support is not defined by
the flash. In case the table for this support is defined but has wrong
values, one should instead use a post_sfdp() hook to set the SNOR_F
equivalent flag.
4/ MFR_FLAGS: manufacturer private flags. Used in the manufacturer
fixup hooks to differentiate support between flashes of the same
manufacturer.
5/ PARSE_SFDP: sets info->parse_sfdp to true. All flash_info entries
that support SFDP should be converted to set info->parse_sfdp to true.
SPI NOR flashes that statically declare one of the
SPI_NOR_{DUAL, QUAD, OCTAL, OCTAL_DTR}_READ flags and do not support
the RDSFDP command are gratuiously receiving the RDSFDP command
in the attempt of parsing the SFDP tables. It is not desirable to issue
commands that are not supported, so introduce PARSE_SFDP to help on this
situation.
New flash additions/updates should be declared/updated to use either
PARSE_SFDP or SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP. Once all the flash_info entries are
converted to use SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP or PARSE_SFDP, we can get rid of the
SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP flag and use just the bool nor->info->parse_sfdp to
determine whether to parse SFDP or not. SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP flag is kept
just as a way to differentiate whether a flash is converted to the new
flags logic or not.
Support that can be discovered when parsing SFDP should not be duplicated
by explicit flags at flash declaration. All the flash parameters will be
discovered when parsing SFDP. Sometimes manufacturers wrongly define some
fields in the SFDP tables. If that's the case, SFDP data can be amended
with the fixups() hooks. It is not common, but if the SFDP tables are
entirely wrong, and it does not worth the hassle to tweak the SFDP
parameters by using the fixups hooks, or if the flash does not define the
SFDP tables at all, then statically init the flash with the
SPI_NOR_SKIP_SFDP flag and specify the rest of flash capabilities with
the flash info flags.
With time, we want to convert all flashes to use PARSE_SFDP and
stop triggering the SFDP parsing with the
SPI_NOR_{DUAL, QUAD, OCTAL*}_READ flags. Getting rid of the
SPI_NOR_{OCTAL, OCTAL_DTR}_READ trigger is easily achievable,
the rest are a long term goal.
Manufacturer specific flags like USE_CLSR, USE_FSR, SPI_NOR_XSR_RDY,
will be removed in a future series.
No functional changes intended in this patch.

spi_nor_post_sfdp_fixups() was called even when there were no SFDP
tables defined. late_init() should be instead used for flashes that
do not define SFDP tables.
Use spi_nor_post_sfdp_fixups() just to fix SFDP data. post_sfdp()
hook is as of now used just by s28hs512t, mt35xu512aba, and both
support SFDP, there's no functional change with this patch.

Used to init all the mtd_info fields. Move the mtd_info init
the last thing in the spi_nor_scan(), so that we avoid superfluous
initialization of the mtd_info fields in case of errors.
While here use common naming scheme for functions that are setting
mtd_info fields:
s/spi_nor_register_locking_ops/spi_nor_set_mtd_locking_ops
s/spi_nor_otp_init/spi_nor_set_mtd_otp_ops
The functions names are self explanatory, get rid of the comment
for the OTP function.

Use NOR parameters in the probe's sequence of calls, thus
nor->params->size instead of nor->mtd.size and let the mtd_info
fields be used by the mtd calls (mtd->_erase, mtd->_read, mtd->_write).
mtd_info fields should not be used during probe because we haven't
registered mtd yet. It's safe to drop xilinx's setting of nor->mtd.size,
now that we use nor->params->size in spi_nor_set_addr_width().

As it was before the blamed commit, s3an_nor_scan() was called
after mtd size was set with params->size, and it overwrote the mtd
size value with '8 * nor->page_size * nor->info->n_sectors' when
XSR_PAGESIZE was set. With the introduction of
s3an_post_sfdp_fixups(), we missed to update the mtd size for the
s3an flashes. Fix the mtd size by updating both nor->params->size,
(which will update the mtd_info size later on) and nor->mtd.size
(which is used in spi_nor_set_addr_width()).

Commit 5fa6863ba6 ("spi: Check we have a spi_device_id for each DT
compatible") added a test to check that every SPI driver has a
spi_device_id for each DT compatiable string defined by the driver
and warns if the spi_device_id is missing. The spi_device_ids are
missing for the dataflash driver and the following warnings are now
seen.

Fix this by adding the necessary spi_device_ids.

Under certain circumstances, the timing settings calculated by
the FSMC NAND controller driver were inaccurate.
These settings led to incorrect data reads or fallback to
timing mode 0 depending on the NAND chip used.
The timing computation did not take into account the following
constraint given in SPEAr3xx reference manual:
twait >= tCEA - (tset * TCLK) + TOUTDEL + TINDEL
Enhance the timings calculation by taking into account this
additional constraint.
This change has no impact on slow timing modes such as mode 0.
Indeed, on mode 0, computed values are the same with and
without the patch.
NANDs which previously stayed in mode 0 because of fallback to
mode 0 can now work at higher speeds and NANDs which were not
working at all because of the corrupted data work at high
speeds without troubles.
Overall improvement on a Micron/MT29F1G08 (flash_speed tool):

instruction has been issued on the bus.
The FSMC NAND controller driver did not handle this delay.

When the NV-DDR interface is not supported by the NAND chip,
the value of onfi->nvddr_timing_modes is 0. In this case,
the best_mode variable value in nand_choose_best_nvddr_timings()
is -1. The last for-loop is skipped and the function returns an
uninitialized value.
If this returned value is 0, the nand_choose_best_sdr_timings()
is not executed and no 'best timing' are set. This leads the host
controller and the NAND chip working at default mode 0 timing
even if a better timing can be used.
Fix this uninitialized returned value.
nand_choose_best_sdr_timings() is pretty similar to
nand_choose_best_nvddr_timings(). Even if onfi->sdr_timing_modes
should never be seen as 0, nand_choose_best_sdr_timings() returned
value is fixed.

NAND_OP_CMD() expects a delay parameter in nanoseconds.
The delay value is wrongly given in milliseconds.
Fix the conversion macro used in order to set this

If there is more than one mtd device which supports OTP, there will
be a kernel warning about duplicated sysfs entries and the probing will
fail. This is because the nvmem device name is not unique. Make it
unique by prepending the name of the mtd. E.g. before the name was
"user-otp", now it will be "mtd0-user-otp".
